FOR THE NEXT two weeks, you have a chance to see artists at work without going to their studios. In fact, you'll see them making work "On the Spot," the apt title of City Gallery East's exhibition.
Artists of all ages and levels will be working on large pieces of paper in the gallery run by Atlanta's Office of Cultural Affairs inside City Hall East.

| Michael Morgan works on a piece for the "On the Spot" exhibit, which has artists painting on large paper at their leisure at City Gallery East. There will be a closing reception Sept. 29, when all works will be completed. | |||
The building is open 24 hours, so artists are free to work whenever they want. But they're required to be there at least part of the time during normal business hours through Sept. 15. Well-known artist Sarah Hatch, for example, said she'll be painting Friday at the opening reception and then two or three hours each day after that. She intends to be there by 11 each morning except on Mondays and Tuesdays.
There'll be a closing reception to celebrate the finished artworks.
