Casting Jane Fonda was a brave choice for the producers of ‘33 Variations.’ After all, she hadn’t acted on Broadway in almost 46 years and let’s face it, critics bring some strong feelings about our hometown girl, no matter what she does.
Our own reviewer Wendell Brock found her performance “technically polished, emotionally engaging, honest to the core.”

Actress Jane Fonda takes to the stage for the curtain call at the opening night of ‘33 Variations’ at Eugene O’Neill Theatre on Monday, March 9, in New York City.
But how did she play in New York? She’s batting .750 according to these reviews, which is a much better batting average than New York’s beloved shortstop Derek Jeter.
