Marsalis to debut symphony at King concert

Jazz legend Wynton Marsalis will hold the world premiere of his new symphony at an Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performance for the 18th annual "A King Celebration" at Morehouse College next month.

The Jan. 14 event will honor the life and work of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Marsalis' new piece is called "Blues Symphony."

The 8 p.m. event will be held at King Chapel, which is named for the Nobel Peace Prize winner. The concert will raise money for music scholarships at Morehouse and Spelman Colleges, as well as community programs of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
