COBB

Metanoya Cafe

Salads, soups, paninis and loads of freshly baked goodies are part of this casual cafe. Start the day off early with flavored and specialty coffees and teas served hot, cold or frozen. Pair your beverage with muffins, cookies, scones, breakfast burritos, granola, bagel sandwiches and biscuits. The house specialty is the broccoli cheese cornbread. There’s a drive-through for those on the go and free Wi-Fi for those who want to unwind. 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays-Fridays; 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays. 2595 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta. 770-977-2020, www.metanoyacafe.com . $

Rose & Crown Tavern The lunch crowd in the Windy Hill corridor has made this new venue a lunchtime destination. There’s plenty of fast, affordable pub fare and entrees with an Irish spin such as fish and chips. Sandwiches, burgers and traditional appetizers fill the bill. But there’s plenty of late-night action as well, with a pool table and a dozen TVs for sports viewing. 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Mondays-Saturdays; 11 a.m.-midnight Sundays. 1931 Powers Ferry Road, Atlanta. 770-933-5595.$

DEKALB

New Orleans SnoBall Cafe

Don’t mistake these traditional Louisiana treats for snow cones. Owner Victoria Sanders serves up such finely shaved ice that it’s more like savoring flavored snow. Each snoball is made to order with natural flavors such as squeezed lemons, organic green tea, coffee and organic cream, Hershey’s chocolate and organic fruits. New flavors are added each week. Munch on biscotti, olive salad, sandwiches and muffulettas as well. 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays; 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays; noon-7 p.m. Sundays. 340 W. Ponce de Leon Ave., Decatur. 404-617-0044, www.neworleanssnoballcafe.com . $

GWINNETT

Firesalt Tavern

The extensive menu covers just about every craving, including seafood, burgers and sandwiches, but the big attraction is steak. Go for an 8-ounce filet, 16-ounce rib-eye or 14-ounce New York strip. Look for a brunch menu in the fall. There’s a full bar and live music every Friday and Saturday. 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 5-10 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays; 11 a.m.-midnight Fridays-Saturdays; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays. 33 Buford Village Way, Buford. 770-932-6284, www.firesalttavern.com . $$

NEWTON

Cowboy’s Barbecue

Wings, tenders, burgers, dogs and, of course, ’cue fill the menu. Racks of ribs, brisket, turkey and chicken are sold by the platter or the pound. All the traditional sides are here as well, from slaw and beans to fried okra and Brunswick stew. 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays; 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Sundays. 1066 Ga. 142, Covington. 770-784-1401, www.cowboysbarbecue.com . $
