What is...?
ajc.com's Best of the Big A 2005 puts our readers - not the critics - in charge of nominating and choosing the best that Atlanta has to offer -- from the best places to celebrate to the most kid-friendly establishments. ajc.com users determine the nominees in each of more than 50 categories that include nightlife, radio, special services and restaurants. The nominations are counted, and the top vote-getters in each category are put to a vote to determine the Best of the Big A.

How did nominating work?
Nominations were taken from April 4 through April 15. Readers could nominate an establishment once per category. For example, someone who wished to nominate a Thai restaurant could have choose just one to nominate in that category, but could also have nominated that same Thai restaurant in a category other than Best Thai restaurant, such as best special occasion restaurant. Readers were not required to nominate in all categories, but the more categories they nominated in, the more times they were entered into the random drawing for prizes, up to a total of 59 times.

How does voting work?
The top vote-getters in each category will be gathered and posted online May 2. Readers may vote for one spot per category per day. Voting will continue through May 13. Readers are not required to vote in all 59 categories, but the more categories they vote in, the more times they will be entered into the random drawing for prizes, up to a total of 58 times each week.

When are results announced?
Winners will be announced in the June 16 edition of accessAtlanta. Winning establishments will receive a certificate and the list of winners will be posted online on accessAtlanta.com
