Shane Harrison’s bio

Shane Harrison’s mother says that while the other toddlers were playing around in the dirt outside, he was forever parked in front of a cheap plastic record player, feeding it disc after disc of seven-inch vinyl. As a teenager, he began haunting record stores, buying music with every spare cent and eventually working in those shops just to feed a raging record addiction. After college — Clemson University — he ran off to Boston where he worked at yet another record store. This time, he was a buyer for a chain with about 80 locations. It was the music geek’s dream job, buying records for a living. All the while, he was playing in various bands, none of them particularly good or memorable. He’s been with the AJC since 1990, writing about one of his favorite things in the world for more than a decade.
