Sonia Murray has written for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution since she graduated from Howard University. The native of Fort Ord, Calif. - and varyingly proficiently player of the piano, acoustic guitar and clarinet - started as a general assignment reporter in local news. After a stint in the business department, she became a music writer charged with writing about the recordings, performances and players in our then-burgeoning Motown of the South. (Guess those summers as a college rep at Columbia Records and behind the cash register at Tower Records and Sounds Unlimited, across from Greenbriar Mall, finally paid off!)
