Smashing Pumpkins postponed (UPDATED)

The Smashing Pumpkins shows tonight and tomorrow at the Fox Theatre have been postponed because drummer Jimmy Chamberlain fell ill with chest discomfort and landed in a hospital, according to a press release at about 7 p.m. tonight. By doctor’s orders, he is to rest for seven days.

Promoter Rival Entertainment said it hopes to have new dates set within the next month. All tickets for Oct. 30 and 31 will be honored at the make-up dates so buyers should hold on to their tickets. If tickets need to get a refund, just go to your original place of purchase.

The rumor is Jimmy Chamberlin (drummer) is in the hospital. This really sucks, because I did have tickets to this show! But I do have tickets to the Halloween show as well.

Hopefully they’ll re-schedule this show in November.

Hopefully the shows now will be better than when I saw the group……they played too fast, were too wasted and sucked in general…….

Billy stood up in from of the crowd and even admitted it during the show……..

I wouldn’t waste my money on them again !

Not surprising.

That Rock ‘N Roll lifestyle will kill you.

Smashing Pumpkins Always Sucked Anyway. I never understood what the attraction was. BORING SYDNEY !!

Maybe Dolly Parton can crank out a tune for him. Them knockers might help him get over it.

Sucks, but I wish him a speedy recovery, and I hope to god they don’t schedule this show the night of the Police show. Please don’t let that happen!

I remember the Center Stage show…14 friggin years ago!

They honestly, along with all the other nostalga acts, should just hang it up…

Whatever happened to new movements in Rock? Why are we stuck with all this recycled crap?

Saw the Pumpkins in Asheville this summer. They played 2.5 hours, 1 of it acoustic.Great show, great music.

compare this to Bob Dylan in Lakewood 1 year: played 45 minutes, never said a word, and left. The audience thought he was taking a break. Then he got booed. Corgn and the Pumkins work the azzess off to put on a good show.

I saw them at Voodoo Fest this weekend and half the crowd walked out.

Corgan whined he was “a heavy metal machine” and the crowd laughed back at him.

This is great. I can’t get enough of 99X promoting this band. This means that I get to enjoy pumpkins songs every hour for at least another month. Hopefully they can run some more commercials and contests too.

Once saw them close down South Beach with an outdoor impromptu concert in the middle of the day to promote an album . Too bad I was stuck in traffic and had to hear them, they suck, Billy sucks, the good members quit a long time ago, and he looks like he should be playing a killer in some slasher flick. None of the groups out there sound good anymore, going back to the blues, they never let me down!

420 in Holly Springs!

Switch your listening over to Bullets & Octane. They rock twice as hard as Smashed Punkins’. Look for the LP “The Revelry” for starters!!

Yes, it is 420 somewhere.

There are very few bands that leave me as cold as Smashing Pumpkins. I’ve never understood their appeal.

I place them below Pearl Jam as the most overrated bands of the 1990’s.

I did see them at Lolapalooza (way back) and left mid-set.

That said, I hope Lil Jimmy is OK and the fans get thier chance to see them soon here in Atlanta.

I apologize. The real reason is that I got a new Uncle Fester costume I want to wear tonight to get some candy.

Halloween is a great time of year for me, with my pale skin and all.

My band is irrelevant. I’m wayyyyy overrated.

i really love their “Lull” ep, and “Gish”, but “Siamese Dream” was too pop for me. Put on the headphones and crank Gish, they are doing lots of amazing things on that record. Bury me!!!

Saw them up close and personal in Athens at the 40Watt in 92, and they rocked the house. Ummm D’Arcy…, and they played “Drown” from the Singles soundtrack. love me some distortion. it’s just not the same w/o Iha & D’Arcy.

I find it humorous that so many of you are bashing a band led by one of the greatest guitarists of our time. Billy may be an asshole, but he still has talent.

This sucks, esp. if this was your plan for Halloween for months now, like we did! Go figure the one night that you’d think would be cool see the show is postpone. Now it’s going to be a weekend I am out of town, or a UGA home game or just something will happen when they set the date. I just know it! Boo, on this years Halloween. Any new ideas out there?

For those of you that think the Pumpkins suck - go !@#$ yourself. Why wast our time with your senseless rantings. We don’t want you at the show anyway.

I for one am really disappointed. This would have been a great show and very appropriate - for Halloween, which usually sucks in the ATL. This year, we were finally getting something to look forward to. Guys if you have to postpone the show - postpone until New Year’s Eve. You owe us? Do you hear me!

first off, i’d like to say that the smashing pumpkins were my absolute favorite band from 95-2000. they were amazing. then they broke up. it should have ended there. billy corgan should have retired from the industry. but nooooo, he goes and tarnishes his legacy with crap such as zwan and now “the smashing pumpkins” pt II. i tried to overlook the mediocre resurrection attempt. then i found out that they were giving atlanta their ONE halloween show. i was quite excited and hopeful. now they cancel, with ONE days notice?!?! unbelievable. i’m so p** off, there aren’t words to describe it. the smashing pumpkins are dead to me. RIP

my son was very sad when we told him he couldn’t go to “the Fox” to see “billy corgan” and let the whole town know it. He cried and pouted the whole 2 1/2 hours home. Wish we had known before heading to atlanta and checking into our hotel (which we had to pay for but didn’t stay in). I did get a priceless shot of my son showing his true emotion about the situation with the sign flashing behind him “Tonight’s Smashing Pumpkins show has been ‘postponed’”. Geez, oh well.

Get well Jimmy!

It is understandable to be upset about not being able to see a concert tonight, but if YOU were the one hospitalized, would you be blaming yourself for not being able to attend?? Seriously, get a clue. People who actually think the band is purposely “screwing your over” don’t deserve to attend anyway.

What was upsetting to us was that we didn’t get the news in time to not travel so far and check into our hotel. Not that Jimmy was sick. I have heart problems and trust me it’s nothing to take lightly. We hope he has a speedy recovery and we can’t wait to catch the make up show. In costume and all. :-)

I drove all the way from Jacksonville fl in a rented car and walked around atl for 4 hours before turning the radio on and learning the show was postponed. I went to the Fox website before I left on the 31st and there was no changes to the calander they had posted, thanks to them, I wasted my time and money.

How DARE Jimmy Chamberlain not announce at least TWO WEEKS in advance that he’s going to get sick the day of the Atlanta show? How DARE the Smashing Pumpkins not alert everyone attending by personally calling every ticketholder? “True fans” know they OWE US at least that much. They also owe me gas money for my drive to the Fox. What a bunch of jerks. Screw the Pumpkins. They’re dead to me.

rescheduled dates: *Nov 15 Atlanta, GA Fox Theater

*Nov 16 Atlanta, GA Fox Theater per their myspace.

He had some blockage in an artery but is ok and should be fully recovered in a week. So glad he is healthy and ok. Open heart surgery sucks (had it 2 years ago) and he is able to pass this option, it’s not needed.

we went to an Asheville show too, the 29th. It was so amazing. We did have visions of the big fan falling and killing everyone though. It was huge! Asheville videos at www.youtube.com/ticketwebsucks The songs that he wrote while he was in the mountain air were so amazing. I loved “if all goes wrong”. I can’t wait to hear that recorded on a side album someday.
