Absolutely! I’ve actually performed there a coupla years ago with ‘Deacon Blues’. I would give it a 10 out of 10, it’s FREE MUSIC! You can’t beat it. It slipped up on me this year, didn’t realize it was that time. Loook forward to the people, especially all the lovely ladies!lol

I agree that this weekly series has been one of things I love about Atlanta. And the ladies are lovely, but the scene accompanied by the music and the downtown Atl vibe are very relaxing.

Are they going to book anyone we actually ever HEARD OF? Free music is only worthwhile if it’s good.

I wouldn’t sit on my back porch and watch any of these acts if they were playing in my back yard.

I have not been to Wednesday Wind Down before but I may have to take it in this year. Khat Phud is an awesome group. For those of you who don’t know, they can often be heard playing backup for Ken Ford. Whether you know the groups or not, local artists work hard and deserve hometown support.

I miss On the Bricks. Mad Booking did a spectacular job with those shows - they were fun, safe and timed well. I guess Clear Channel has found a way to elbow them out of the market, like they’ve done with everyone else.

Who are these bands? What is this the “busch league” concert series? There is a reason that this is a free concert!

Here is a great video from On The Bricks, showing why it should still be the show! I’m so sad it’s gone.

I love the line up! Just wondering though why aren’t there more local acts? Philipia William, Ericka Smith, and many others who perform at Sugarhill and Apache.

Just remember, every popular band you like used to be one that nobody ever heard of. Everyone deserves a chance and they all work hard. I’m with dmscar, support your local music scene.

I always love the Wind Down concerts. Milkshake, Julie Dexter, and Bob Baldwin are fabulous artist. These artist are not played on the highly repetitive mainstream radio stations. The future of music belongs to the independent artist!

It is awesome. The city beat, the atmosphere, the music, and the men are on point also. Don’t care for the women. And it’s free too?!!!!!!

I move away from the ATL about a year ago (relocated to South Hampton, VA). Granted there are lots of good concerts and events here as well, but the ATL does have some good freebies that I attended over the years (King Center, On the Bricks, Piedmont/Grant Park, etc). I think that the Wind Down Wednesday are good fun. I enjoyed the few I went to a couple of years ago.
It just seems to me that once a good thing gets going in the ATL, they find a way to kill it-the Arts Festival, Light Up Atlanta, Music Midtown, etc.
I hope everyone who attends this year will enjoy!!!

If you want to talk about top contemporary jazz acts…Najee, Jonathan Butler, Rick Braun, Lalah Hathaway, Wayman Tisdale Got Jazz had it! the acts above are sub standard and the wednesday windown sucked all last year and looks like it will suck again this year…Bring back Renee Miller and Got Jazz!

Its a shame that SOME of you people would make stupid remarks such as “Are they going to book anyone we actually ever HEARD OF? Free music is only worthwhile if it’s good.” All the well known acts SUCK! I would rather see a local TALENTED artist anyday than to see a Popular artist, who can’t deliver! WHY ISN”T DAYSAHEAD in that lineup! Erica Smith is the bomb too! :)

Where is the Got Jazz Series? Someone made this comment. I agree that this series ws really superb. Need to bring them back. The Jazz artist have not been as great since they are no longer a sponsor. However, you do have three great artist: Milkshake, Julie Dexter and Bob Balwin. Need more.

Yes, Wednesday Wind Down concert series definitely a great way to break up your normal routine to listening to some great music by some local artists.
I agree with Darren though, bring back the Got Jazz Series. Some great artist have come thru Centinnial Park and have graced the stage such, as Lalah Hathaway, Peabo Bryson, Najee, Will Downing came through awhile back.
“On the Bricks” on Fridays were great Friday night shows as well. India.Arie, Wyclef Jeanand Kanye West came and graced the stage for that concert series.

Come out and support the hometeam. It’s a shame when acts get more love oversees than they do at at home..ask someone from London if they have heard about Julie Dexter……..

I do miss On The Bricks. It wasn’t the same when 99x and Star94(?) had the competing concert series. Mad Booking did a wonderful job and it’s a shame the series couldn’t go on longer. From what I remember it was money that ruined the shows (dispute over concessions if I recall). I went to a few of the shows each year and enjoyed them tremendously.

I’ve attended before and I really enjoyed the ‘Got Jazz’ series. All of the jazz acts were well known and top notch. Why did they discontinue such a great series?

Yeah….whatever happened to the GOT JAZZ series? I agree with Darren, these acts cannot hold a candle to the acts that performed during that series. The free Najee concert was awesome! The free Patti Austin concert was even better! A plea to the GOT JAZZ production company…PLEASE BRING BACK GREAT JAZZ TO THE PARK!
