Madonna, Chris Rock, Rascal Flatts tickets on sale

The coming weekend will be a big one for ticket sales, with three high-demand shows going on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31.

Madonna will bring her “Sticky & Sweet Tour” to Philips Arena, but you’ll have to hold on to those tickets for a while. Though tickets go on sale Saturday, the show will be just a few days before Thanksgiving, Nov. 24. Ticket prices start at $57 and go up to $352.

Chris Rock was just here in March, but demand was high enough that the comedian’s “No Apologies Tour” will return to the Fox Theatre on July 12. Tickets are $45.50. $55.50 and $75.50.

Country superstar trio Rascal Flatts will bring the “Bob That Head Tour” to Lakewood Amphitheatre on Aug. 1. Young country phenomenon Taylor Swift is also on the bill. Lawn tickets are $30, reserved seats $75.25.

Tickets for all three shows go on sale at 10 a.m. May 31 through the Live Nation site, respective box offices (except the Lakewood box office, which will be closed Saturday) and by phone at Ticketmaster (404-249-6400).

Will you be lining up (or dialing up) for tickets to any of these shows? Is Madonna worth all that cash?

The Chris Rock show in March was terrible…EVERYTHING was about race, race, race. None of the really funny stuff from his previous shows.

I paid to see Madonna once on her “Music” tour, and paid about $225 a ticket. It was a great show, and I would love to see her again, but it just costs WAY too much. Most concerts are not affordable anymore.

I thought the CR show in March was great. I thought he was funny and dead on about what “ism” will prevail at the polls in November. I mean, he’s Chris Rock…it is to be expected. And FYI - I don’t think he ever recycles his material from previous tours.

We went to the Chris Rock Show in March and thought it was hilarious! And based on the reaction from the rest of the audience, we were not the only ones. Yes, he touched on race, but it was far from overwhelming. Sitting in an area where the audience was clearly “mixed”, those jokes surrounding race were regardless of one’s ethnicity. I have been disappointed by other comedians in the past but I would definitely recommend this show.

It should have read: Sitting in an area where the audience was clearly “mixed”, those jokes surrounding race were funny regardless of one’s ethnicity.

Sorry for the typo. :-)

Only blacks can tell jokes about race. Let’s not take that away from them too.

Racist jokes are disingenuous, particularly coming from a wealthy black man —- a man who gets rich off of this awful material.

Chris Rock has become a bitter man focused on race. I wasted money on the March show and will NEVER pay to see him again. And if by “touched on race” you mean at LEAST half an hour of beating the issue into the ground, (and from what I saw, most were NOT laughing)I guess you’re correct. Anyway, if you like slides before the show starts and between acts showing replications of posters, signs, cartoons, etc of the ways blacks were wronged in the past AND how hard it is to be poor little Chris Rock, then you might enjoy it

I would love to see the reaction of a white man doing race jokes!

We already did Rob. It was called the Michael Richards comedy show.

I’d just like to take a moment to remind all you hypocrites about how many of your “high profile” favorite comedians’ comedy shows are heavily based around race or other cultural themes or stereotypes.

Jeff Foxworthy Larry the Cable Guy Carlos Mencia George Lopez

Being an artist myself I totally understand that art truly imitates life. And let’s face it, we don’t like to deal with reality in this country, even when a comical spin is placed on it.

Yet Black people are supposed to find it funny that man of physical brown complexion is portrayed as a monkey on a T-Shirt?? The world truly understands how sick you really are.

Bor, 1st of all, that was not a planned part of Michael Richard’s routine. He was responding to being heckled, which I do agree was an inappropriate response. But the fact that everone was outraged by his comments as they appeared all over the press makes Rob’s point. There was no outrage or negative media mention at all after Chris Rock, in trying to explain how bad racism is, said that it would be almost expected if as a guest on Regis’ show, Regis stabbed him in the neck for being black while yelling racial slurs??

Oh, and no one on here mentioned the Obama T-shirt being funny.

Its called: “I don’t like the fact that a black man can stand up there and have the power to say what he wants!” Face it bdhawk, Tellit & Fish… you flat out dont believe he should have the freedom to speak about what he knows best, dealing with the people who are wealthy and have power and the fact that we as people of color are constantly asked indirectly to keep them comfortable. Sound familiar? We are sick of making sure not to ruffle your feathers or sheets in the case of Michael Richards! The time has come that we will now let YOU know when you’re out of line, and no we don’t care how uncomfortable it makes you. If Kramer is bombing on stage its : BOO, kill yourself! You aint funny, now leave! No need to be polite, hey we learned that from you…

900K aka Mr 2008 - I don’t care that Chris Rock or any other black person has the “power” to say what they want. Remember, I paid to see him. What I do care about is the $200+ I’ll never get back that was speant to watch an un-funny act that was very angry and bitter at times. Hopefully I can save others from wasting their money and leave more seats for those that might enjoy that type of show.

I SEE FROM THE AJC BLOGS, THAT THE CITY TAKE ALOT OF VACATION DAYS.

FROM THE SPECIALS I WATCHED WITH CHRIS ROCK, HE TALKS ABOUT EVERYONE INCLUDING HIS OWN RACE. I GUESS WE AREN’T THE ONLY SENSITIVE PEOPLE AFTER ALL.

SOME ADVICE TO BDAWK, IF SOMEONE OFFER YOU TICKETS TO PAUL MOONEY, PLEASE RUN THE OTHER WAY:)

As Sandra Bernhardt stated during the Paul Mooney special on HBO, “White people don’t like to be reminded of the fact that they are racist.” Its ok to mention the shortcomings of others but don’t dare remind whites that they are racist!

You are really simpleminded if you think I didn’t expect to be poked and prodded at for being white. I totally did. I used to die laughing at how Pryor and Murphy would make fun of white people. Got no problem with that at all there chief…that’s why I shelled out my money to see him in person. But like Bdawk said, after about 30 minutes straight of beating a non-joke into the ground enough is enough. Yes, it wasn’t jokes…it was a really bitter preachy diatribe on how white people are to blame for everything. Snore…we get that from Al and Jesse all the time. I really though CR was different.

I’m a black high school teacher and one of my white students went to the CR show with his mother. they thought Chris was hysterical. There was no racism in the show. Only truths about president Bush. The show was hot! worth every penny
