Who’s Your Hometown Grammy Pick?

Is “Live Your Life” by Atlanta rapper-actor T.I. and Rihanna feeling like the record of the year? (See a YouTube clip of them performing it at the Key Club in Los Angeles BELOW)

Think local Christian rockers — and three-time Grammy winners — Third Day should be on the list again? (See a YouTube clip of the official music video for “Call My Name” BELOW)

Surely after the success of “Love On The Inside” our country duo Sugarland will get a nod — and maybe its first win as a group — right? (See a YouTube clip of their performance of “All I Wanna Do” at the ACMs - where they won song and single of the year - BELOW)

Well we’ll all find out if those three acts will at least be in consideration Wednesday evening when (as we previously reported here) the nominations for the 51st Grammy Awards will be announced live from Los Angeles; and for the first time, in prime time, at 9 p.m. on CBS.

But we want to get the prognosticating going earlier. So tell us what Atlanta recording artists you think merited the music industry’s highest honor this past year?

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. (I think they already have more Grammys than all other Atlanta musical groups combined.)

Good call, BPJ. I’m hoping the ASO will get some nods as well. Damn shame they shut down the AJC’s arts blog…

Good call, BPJ. I’m hoping the ASO gets a couple nods as well. Damn shame the powers that be at the AJC shut down the arts blog…

Zac Brown will be there soon - maybe not this year - but certainly in the coming years.

Most talent coming out of Atlanta look like people who fight dogs. TI? Give me a break, he’ll die in prison someday.

I hope the Grammy will at least go to someone that has mastered a musical instrument. I’ve had enough of the music (sic) industry products shoved down my throat!

I’m with Arlo on this one. Perhaps someone who knows what a C Major chord is and how to play it on a piano might be one who deserves the very “right” to be called a musician. Just owning a piano to out on display in one’s trashy looking McMansion does not mean one can call them self a musician.

I think I can produce a stool sample with more talent than most of the groups listed above. Sugarland is ok, and I agree with ESR that TI will die in a cell or in a blinged out SUV.

Just like always, I see that the thugs have already started calling the people who don’t like rap haters. If “haters” means hating bad music, then I guess I am a hater. If they are implying that I hate all blacks then they are just stupid. In fact, I hate the no talent wussy boy Eminem more than just about any other celebrity, and the last time I looked, he was white.

There are many black musicians that I enjoy listening to like Hendrix, Tina Turner, Living Colour, Michael Jackson (Yes, he has turned me off now with his bizarre behavior but no one can deny that Thriller was a brilliant album.)

Luckily, Atlanta has some talented groups like Sugarland and Third Day, and there is always Collective Soul. It would be a shame if the world only thought we had thugged out untalented pieces of trash reperesenting us like T.I. (which stands for Total Idiot), Lil’ Wayne and Ludacris.

And the people above are correct, T(otal) I(diot) will end up in prison, probably for buying guns again.

What would be great is if we could do a reality show where we could put all the rappers on a remote island with a big supply of guns. We could call it “Last Thug Standing.” Then they could all shoot at each other and we wouldn’t have to worry about them hurting innocent people. (We would have to position the camera crew behind bullet proof shields.)

The last thug standing would be the winner and he could win his own blinged out prison cell. My bet is that 50 Cent would win since he has already been shot nine times and unfortunately survived.
