30342, I just moved here from Downtown. Northern Buckhead/Sandy Springs, I don’t think anyone knows exactly what area it is. If there wasn’t a Buckhead, GA already, I’m sure Atlanta’s Buckhead area would be the next area to want to become it’s own city.

30340 is the best just slightly OTP zip code in town. Minutes to everything since we’re close to 85 and 285…. best schools in the county and neighborhoods filled with houses ripe for the taking and perfect for updating. Oh, and the people are great too! First generation home owners who are slowly being replaced by younger families looking for the best that Atlanta has to offer. No tear downs and McMansions, just neighborhoods they way they should be, filled with folks who want to stay as close to all that ATL has to offer while giving their families all they deserve.

I HATE that 30307 bumper sticker (mimi voice: It’s not a zipcode, it’s a lifestyle).

But, I live in 30307 and I moved here because I think it’s a wonderful place for all kinds of people, including families.

30340 really is the best. Real people, not a bunch of fakes, close to everything, the kind of neighborhood many of us grew up in and now love for ourselves and our children. Plus, it’s not over the top expensive.

With restored bugelows, in fill houses, and beautiful estate homes, these residents now can walk to restaurants, shops and parks. 30319 is where its out. Get ready to watch it explode!

I think 30306 (Virginia-Highland) is the very best with a second place to 30309 (Midtown/Ansley) and third place finish for 30305 ( Buckhead). Virginia-Highland has the perfect combo of beautiful tree lined streets and historic homes with wonderful restaurants, retail, and entertainment all within walking distance. Friendly & open minded area with a great mix of people. Hip without the attitude.

30306 is wonderful, but no city or Fulton tax for me. Overall, 30068 gets my vote. Yes, so called snobby East Cobb that is not snobby, stellar schools, good neighbors, sense of community, great shopping/services and 5 minutes from Sandy Springs. I am also 15 minutes from work. Been working/living using a scooter for the past 4 years. Averaging $4-$5 dollars a month for gas. 30309 enables you to actually live and work in a 3-5 mile radius. Can’t complain, never drive on highway and use marta when needed or for airport access. Laugh out loud when I ride over Deering Rd bridge and the connector is a parking lot. Not my cup of tea. Guess I’m blessed…or not stupid?!?

Just as the bumper sticker states… 30307…it’s not just a ZIP code…it’s a lifestyle. This funky neighborhood, which happens to be mine, is one of the most diverse in Atlanta. What makes it special is that its diverse population melds together to support the community, the schools, and the environment. All of this equals a great quality of life.

My hubby and I live in 30004 - Milton! And we love it! Take a drive out here sometime and see the gorgeous multi-million dollar horse estates and all the nice new shops and restaurants. Milton may be “rural” but it still has some great character.

Small town feel; great diversity; stuff within walking distance; open-minded, progressive people, decent public schools, and home values aren’t plummeting like in some parts of town.

30273 Rex baby!! It’s quaint - an incorporated village, inexpensive living, quiet. My neighborhood has lots of well manicured lawns, walkers and joggers, and check this out, rabbits and eagles! And it’s in Clayton Co. We’re close to lots of shopping, the airport, nice park and new community recreational ctr. People have parties all the time without gun fire or fights. Don’t believe everything in the media.

I love the 30340!

Our neighborhood is established with the best elementary school in DeKalb County. We have lovely homes that are, in many cases, still owned, loved, and maintained by the original owners. And when it’s not the original owner, it’s a second-gen family like my own. In my neighborhood alone, I can think of at least 10 families my age where one or both of the husband/wife grew up in this area. It may not have all the cache of 30305 or be as hip as 30363, but it’s an awesome place to raise a family. It’s diverse and family oriented, close to everything. I love it here. I’d be hard-pressed to find another area I’d love as much.

I nominate 30273, Rex. Great for starter homes-we bought our house 7 years ago for 98K. It is in Clayton County which has gotten a bad rap. Just like in any other area “some” of the schools are not that great, but “some” are. Rex is family oriented and we live by an awesome park (walking distance), neighbors are very involved with their children and very friendly (we meet at the fence to talk and talk). It is just 20 minutes to the airport, 25 minutes to downtown and 15-20 minutes to Decatur. Kids ride their bikes in our neighborhood, which is diverse. We have a mixture of older residents, young couples with young kids, working class families and middle class professionals with children. I loved it here-with the inexpensive house (98K for 3 bdr./2 bth on 1/4 fenced acre) we were able to start a “now” successful business without too much financial pressure. Then we have lived off just my hubby’s salary whiched allowed me to stay at home with three children, homeschool and still have money left over for us to travel quite a bit with the kids!!

My next choice is the 30340 zip code. Now, with me going back to the workforce we were looking for a very diverse area with excellent schools and upon my research and talking to the friendly people in the neighborhood-that is where we are moving. So both 30273 and 30340 would be my choices!!

uh, yeah, I agree with katie… if you live OTP, then you might live in the Greater or Super Metropolitan area, but NO, you do not live in Atlanta. I work OTP, and when asked where I live I respond: I live in the city.

30324.

1* Citadel Drive. NE Atlanta, GA 30324. My home for 25 years. Central to everything you want to get to. Close to 85, 285, Buford Hwy, Broadview Plaza, Northlake Mall, now I suppose it’s close to 400 too.

Close enough to rich folks to make note that you don’t wanna be that way and turn back to reality.

The new restaurant “Dogwood” is superb. The food is delicious, the service outstanding and the wine selection endless. A great place for a romantic dinner or a business lunch. Great place to have dinner before an event at the Fox. If you like fine dining, you will like this restaurant. 30308

30236 - Jonesboro. Far enough from Atlanta’s “new” residents and close enough to get in and get out quick. Also, near many truck terminals, a new strip club and several massage parlors. The schools dont matter when you have all this.

30024! It’s home to Suwanee which was a top 10 city in Money Magazine’s Top 100 cities in America in 2007. It’s what the greater Atlanta metro area is all about… great schools, good families, great parks, and a well planned city of the future!

Oh, 30310 hands down. You just can’t beat the volume of mortgage fraud, foreclosures, abandoned homes, and crime in 30310. Why would anyone want to live anywhere else?

Well, it seems 30067 hasn’t been mentioned…..talk of extremes, multi-million $$ homes on Paper Mill to the dregs of Franklin Road. Oh well, my wooded paradise is close-in, great shopping, fine schools (yes, Wheeler) and mostly nice folks.

30072-Pine Lake! This amazing comunity of just under 1200 people is an oasis! Over 80% of our residents are artists, musicians, and creative talents. We boast the ONLY spring-fed lake in the Metro; we are a certified GREEN City, and we are a protected bird sanctuary. We host an annual Lakefest each October (next one is 10/4 & 10/5), with artists and musicians from all over the USA! We just came together as a community a built a playground in ONE DAY - our town is one of the safest in the State! Our lil’ city was once known as a “speed trap”, but its now so much more! I am a proud resident & business owner in the City by the way. We are 5 minutes OTP, close to 285, and Decatur/Emory area. If you havent discovered Pine lake, you should. You will be very pleasantly surprised. I shouldnt tell anyone about our lil’ City, but I am too proud of it! See YOU in Pine lake- come to Lakefest- its FREE!!!!!!!!

  1. Absolutely the best! I have lived in zip codes 30274, 30318, 30001, and by far 30331 is tops. It is convenient to the interstate, and fairly close to downtown and MARTA. It is cozy, homey, noisy enough, quiet enough, up scale enough. There is a great cross section of people and cultures. I have a strong sense of identity in this zip code. I have lived in the metro-area for nearly 35 years, and for the last three years, I have called zip code 30331 home. I love it.

I call it “my bubble.” I live and work in this zip code, it is “true” Vinings and the surrounding area. You can walk to Vinings Village, there is Cumberland Mall just a few blocks away, the new Cobb Energy Center for entertainment, Parkway Pointe for movies, plenty of shopping from DSW to Marshalls & Target, plenty of medical offices, the Chattahooche River, grocery stores, drug stores, The Home Depot, GREAT restaurants and boutique shops. There is simply nothing that requires me to go outside “my bubble” unless I want to.

30306 is without a doubt the most liveable zip code in Atlanta. The town part of 30306 is the closest area to a resort like town in Atlanta - reminds me of Aspen, Bar Harbor or Boulder.

30309 & 30307 would tie for second best.

30115—CANTON where metro meets the mountains is by far one of the most beautiful areas in the Atlanta area.
Can’t go to the grocery store without seeing cows, horses or goats and sometimes even llamas! Don’t have to go far to see the fall leaves changing. This is all within 5-10 minutes from anywhere in Cherokee county. After living in 30084, 30340, 30071, 30093 to name a few, 30115 is like a slice of HEAVEN!

To see the morning sun rise over the mountains, all the cute animals, the peace and serenity are all reasons I love this area not to mention, almost everyone speaks ENGLISH.
There are no red welcome mats for illegals, only attempts by LOCAL law enforcement to enforce the “laws” our federal government conveniently overlooks or ignores.

This should be one of the top zips in Atlanta to live but apparently it might not be considered part of “metro Atlanta”.

Again, 30115 or anywhere in Cherokee county!!!
