Atlanta magazine’s Best of Atlanta Party is quite simply the best party in Atlanta. Each year, Atlanta magazine rallies scores of the city’s best restaurants to participate in this culinary extravaganza. The most respected chefs in Atlanta create samples for the 3,000 attendees at the Cobb Galleria Centre. Over the past twenty years, Atlanta Magazine’s Best of Atlanta Party has raised more than $1.4 million for our beneficiary, Camp Twin Lakes. It’s a party where the food, drink, entertainment—EVERYTHING—is simply the best.

I am a volunteer junkie for Atlanta food/wine events. My favorite events are the ones that involve wine. Corks and Forks is the best event I have attended so far this year – it was apart of the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival. Looking forward to Taste of Atlanta which has great accessibility to MARTA. I hope to see the return of Wine South.

The Atlanta Greek Festival has got to be the BEST! The cooking and all of the work that goes into it is done on a volunteer basis. What a great accomplishment to see so many people contribute of their time to pull such a fantastic event together year after year. And they have fantastic food and to-die-for desserts! Not to mention, the free entertainment while you dine.

I don’t know who is responsible for choosing the winners of such a contest or how so many people can overlook one of Atlanta’s supreme sports bars / restaurant establishments, but NOTHING in terms of sports bars compares to “The Bucket Shop Cafe” across the street from Lenox Mall! This quaint little place is totally off the recter scale! Nice place to meet someone for a first date, hang out with a few friends to watch a sporting event and/or meet the most attractive single people. It’s a favorite chill spot for a lot of former & current professional athletes, entertainers and business professionals. Simply put, just try their North Highland chicken rolls, or if you’re in the mood for wings try their Caribbean Jerk wings or a cup / bowl of black beans & rice. You’ll see for yourself…

The Atlanta Les Dames d’Escoffier International’s 8th Annual Afternoon in the Country at Serenbe is by far the best food, wine and beer event in the Metro Area. It’s Sunday, November 9th, and over 70 of Georgia’s best Chefs, Restaurants, Caterers, Retailers, Wineries, Breweries and Distributors are celebrating Georgia’s growing organic farming community and women in the culinary, beverage and hospitality arts. Amazing food and drink, big top tents, live music, a famous cake raffle, an incredible silent auction, hayrides…a true Fall Festival for great causes. Tickets are available at www.ldeiatlanta.org. Don’t miss this! It really is the best!

I have been attending Taste of Atlanta since they moved to Atlantic Station. Earlier this year I attended Taste of Chicago. Oh my goodness! Had a ball!! Maybe TOA sponsors should think about adding entertainers for the weekend. And I’m not talking local. I saw Stevie Wonder at the TOC, for free. I know, different city, different “Taste of” setups, but this would really add to the venue. Something for the sponsors to mull over……

Once a month, one Taco Mac location has a room reserved for a reservations-only dinner centered around five beers from one brewery. Their gourmet chef matches a course to each of the five beers. It is an excellent price for some amazing food and beer!

“Afternoon in the Country”, held at the organic farming community of Serenbe, is without a doubt the most wonderful and worthwhile event you could add to your calendar. The Atlanta chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International brings the best of our city out to the country. Atlanta’s premiere culinary artists offer their very best “farm to table” goodness for a day of tasting you will not soon forget. As if incredible restaurants, vineyards and breweries sharing their wares weren’t enough, there will be music, fresh air, photo opportunities and the feeling that you’ve escaped the rush of city life … just for a day. Sunday, November 9th could prove to be the best afternoon of your year.

Taste of the Nation, benefitting Share Our Strength. There’s always representation from 40 or so of Atlanta’s best chefs / restaurants and they always have a stellar national chef (last year it was Tom Coliccio from Top Chef and before that Wolfgang Puck and Emeril LeGasse). www.atlantataste.org.

Afternoon in the Country at Serenbe is by far the best. Great local food, wine and beer in a beautiful setting in the country. Bluegrass music, hayrides, a cake raffle with no cakes like you’ve ever seen and all of the funds go to support local food efforts, including farm to table programs in local schools as well as scholarships to women going to culinary school! You should definitely put this on your must do list.
