while I feel like Twain’s is still working out the kinks in their beers, it’s one of the best bars in Atlanta, period.

Twain’s is currently the best brewpub in the Atlanta area. They’ve started stepping it up with barrel aged offerings and a wide range of brews available.

Five Seasons Brewery in Sandy Springs.

I’m a fan of 5 Seasons. They have, by far, the best food of any other brewpub in Atlanta. They also brew some good ones; I’m a fan of their seasonal scotch ale (though its name escapes me).

5 Seasons Brewery in Sandy Springs. Be adventurous - don’t use a menu and let Dennis pair up some foods and beer for you.

No question it’s the Brick Store Pub.

Twains in Decatur is my favorite brewpub. I wish Park Tavern would get their act together. The last time I went there, they were out of half of their beers due to some “problems” with their brewer. The place has huge potential with its location if they could get the beer right and not be so satisfied with making all their money from wedding receptions every weekend.

I know Brick Store Pub is not a brewpub, but it’s the absolute best place in this city to drink good beer and have decent (and cheap) pub grub.

Rock Bottom Brewery!

I like Twains, it is a good place to go with the kids. That said, their beer is average and the food is terrible. 5 Seasons had good beer and great food, lots of healthy choices. I love the Brick Store, but they don’t brew their own beer, so it is not a brew pub.

Brick Store Pub doesn’t count (though I wish it could, somehow) since no beer is brewed on premises.

My vote is for Twain’s or 5 Seasons. Screw Rock Bottom and Gordon Biersch. Park Tavern is pretty mediocre.

It’s not a brew pub, but Vickeries at Glenwood Park is to me the best bar in Atlanta. You go 2 or 3 times and everyone that works there is calling you by your first name; always the same regulars too. Give it a try. So 2 others are really good; Steinbeck’s in Oakhurst/Decatur and the Yacht Club in Little 5 points; beers are great, but the service is even better. I hate the new Twains; I think they ruined it.

Ok, places that brew their own beer??? I’d have to vote Rock Bottom Brewery in that case.

Park Tavern is a fun place to go, but yah, the service stinks. Brick Store rules. What was that place that used to be in Buckhead that closed?? I think it was John Harvard’s; great place.

Rock Bottom

(Twain’s beer is low quality and its bartenders are unattentive, pompous bozos. But it does have a nice decor.)

The old Twain’s was the bomb. My last visit to Decatur brought me quite a shock to see a Buckhead-esqe new Twains. Decatur is still my favorite part of town though.

5 Seasons in the Prado is by far the best. Great selection of beer styles and all of them are excellent. And they’re served in the proper or traditional glass for the style of beer. Very cool.

The North River Tavern on Roswell Road is the best brew pub in Atlanta, hands down. Fantastic selection of beer, delicious menu, live music, every game broadcast, and great service…what more could one need?

The last time I went to 5 Seasons in the Prado the service was AWFUL. And the Caesar Salad I ordered with my dinner was a plate of whole romaine lettuce leaves. Whole leaves! They couldn’t spend a minute tearing those up for me?

But like many people on this board, if I’m going out for a beer I’m going “upstairs and to the left” at the Brick Store Pub. The staff knows their stuff and the food complements the beer. If I lived in Decatur I’d be there every night. So, it’s probably good that I don’t live in Decatur.

What’s with people saying Twain’s? Both the beer and the food are below average at best, but they look great compared to the service of the idiots that are employed there.

I’ve dined at many brewpubs across the country and 5 Seasons in Sandy Springs is one of the best. I’ve been a regular since it opened. The great menu, quality of the food, the beers, and the staff keep me coming back. If you have not been there, please try it!

Twain’s - Ownder’s seem to love beer and are constatly experimenting with new styles, casks aged varieties, and beer menus, but they havent’ settled on one truly solid beer yet and their wait staff has no beer knowledge or IQ. Still a great place to hang out, especially with the addition of live music.

5 Seasons offers the best beer and food of the bunch, but the wait staff has no knowledge, it’s too nice of a place, and it’s too far away for Atlanta’s beer scene to travel.

Park Tavern has so much potential and their pale, IPA, and pilsner have been good for years. Unfortuntely, the place can be a nightmare between events and weddings and no one, absolutely no one who works there knows anything about beer. The freshly brewed, craft beer isn’t even showcased for some reason, and it’s sad. And at most brewpubs, the brewmaster is showcased and knowledgeable and his name is made known. Anyone even know who the brewmaster is there and what his pedigree is? Guys, get your acts together.

5 Seasons in the Prado. I am looking forward to their new brewer from Sweetwater, Kevin.

Twains is a definite second. Jordon is getting better at brewing and is enjoying the freedom to make some really unique cask ales.
