It’s Hardees. I nickanmed my daughter biscuit because I love them so much. Back when Mrs. Winners actually made biscuits they were good and I made them for a time in high school. I have not tried the Flying Biscuit, but there are enough people posting negatively, to think the positive votes are coming from non-southerners. JR’s were good, the BBQ is hit or miss. KFC has to be Pillsbury. In a pinch, Mary B’s frozen are not bad.

There is a reason Hardees does well OTP, it’s the biscuits or breakfast.

The best biscuits “around Atlanta” are made at Owen’s Biscuits in Adairsville. Folks that think Hardees, Cracker Barrel or Flying Biscuit has good biscuits have never eaten at Owen’s. Catheads, crisp outside, heavenly tender inside. It’s worth the 40-60 mile drive.

Very glad to see everyone isn’t voting for the Flying Biscuit, as I expected they would. Frankly, the biscuits at McDonald’s are better than FB, which are no way, no how Southern Biscuits at their finest. To taste the best, you’d really have to get out in the state. Lot’s o’ lard, real butter. Then you have a biscuit.

F*’s Biscuit Barn Martin’s Bojangles

The difficult thing to find is a true southern breakfast gravy for the biscuits. My yankee friends decided they didn’t like gravy after trying it at the fast food joints and Cracker Barrel. Those are a flour paste boiled with milk. The flour has to be cooked in sausage drippings to a nutty brown consistency before the milk is added. Do a poll to find that kind of gravy in the area. I still haven’t found any outside of my own kitchen.

Only Yankee carpet baggers would nominate that atrocious hockey puck from the Flying Biscuit. A biscuit should be soft, buttery and edible without accompaniment - and that chalk cake from the most overrated restaurant in the city doesn’t meet those prerequisites, and frankly doesn’t even deserve the moniker “biscuit.” Ever wonder why they have buckets of mediocre apple butter on the table? It’s the only way to choke down one of those vegan hate crimes against real Southern food.

My favorite biscuits are: Java Jive on Ponce, Pastries A Go Go in Decatur, and OK Cafe in Buckhead. The best fast food biscuit comes from Popeyes.

Bojangles’ in Woodstock is by far the best biscuit anywhere. And you are wrong to limit the nominations to what you want to call locals. I admit, I go to my local Bojangles’ more than the Bojangles’ in Marietta, but I know I can get the same great biscuit (with spicy sausage..my favorite)at any of the Atlanta area Bojangles’. And there may be more Flying Biscuits in Atlanta than there are Bojangles’.

F*’s bacon biscuit is the official biscuit of The Pork Fairy. It is filled with enough crisp meaty bacon that enough falls out to be a side of bacon at most breakfast places. I don’t mean to be dramatic or negative, but Flying Biscuit biscuits are possibly the worst biscuits I’ve ever had. They’re hard as rocks, fairly flavorless except for some sweetness which I don’t care for, and not warm. Biscuits should be warm, buttery and soft with a some flake-age on the outside. FB biscuits could be used to build walls.

Flying Biscuit?!?!?!? Even the NAME is misleading…there is NO possible way that biscuit could fly…unless you had a darn good Braves pitcher! There is NOTHING remotely Southern about the horrible, nasty “bricks” at the Flying Biscuit…how can you even say the FB is Southern — they don’t even serve REAL bacon! The owners should be tarred and feathered for serving such Northern nastiness in our lovely Capital!

How anyone can say Flying Biscuit has good biscuits is beyond me. I love their breakfasts, but I end up throwing away the biscuit, it either is hard as a rock or falls apart.

If you miss those homemade biscuits, from flour, buttermilk and lard that granny & grandma made then you gotta have a biscuit from F*’s Biscuit Barn on Hwy 141 in South Forsyth. Absolutely the best homemade biscuits, and worth the drive out of your way. Add gravy, sausage, bacon, ham, oh just so yummy and you will keep going back. F*’s Biscuit Barn in Cumming, GA has the best homemade biscuits… period! The biscuits are not your typical cut biscuits… they are more like a dropped biscuit. The “Biscuit Barn”, as it is often referred to, serves their biscuits in several ways… with your choice of gravy, gravy with sausage, chicken, pork tenderloin, sausage, bacon, egg,… and just about any combination you can think of. They now have a “biscuit bowl” with a biscuit cut up and topped with egg, cheese, choice of grits/gravy and choice of sausage/bacon. Had one this morning - it’s a meal in a bowl and is AWESOME!

Without a doubt, the best biscuits or for that matter the best REAL southern breakfast is at Louise’s Restaurant in Marietta a block from the visitors center by Kennesaw Mountain. I went in on a Saturday. The biscuits are the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant anywhere.

Stilesboro Road biscuits

Make it over there on a saturday morning…and you will see. It floors anything I have ever had ANYWHERE outside of my grandmother’s kitchen.

Old Hickory House gets my vote - they use bacon grease. The bacon & egg biscuit is a religous experience. World’s best though is the Loveless Cafe outside Nashville.

The best fried chicken and biscuits are not found in Atlanta. They are in Gainesville Georgia at Longstreet Cafe. Hand’s down, the best friend chicken around.

Flying Biscuit if you like a more dense sweet biscuit. Rhia’s Bluebird if you like a fluffier biscuit. I would eat either at any time.

The Little Red Barn in Lawrenceville has the best biscuits probably in the Southeast. Take it from one who was raised on homemade biscuits, it is the best.
