Another Atlanta author steps up
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
My great thanks to fellow AJC scribe Chandler Brown, who read “Betrayed: The True Story of Lisa Lynette Clark” so that I would not have to.
Clark, in case you’ve been immersed in re-reading Marquez lately and not following the news, is the local woman who had an affair with a 14-year-old neighbor boy, got pregnant, got married, went to jail, and got out last week. So far, so not good.
But she has also written a book, which tells in great detail about her affair with her young swain, who’s 22 years younger than her. According to Brown, much of the book is too explicit to reprint.
Here is one memorable excerpt, courtesy of Brown: “I miss you baby. Some day we will be together. I remember all those nights when I would prepare a bubble bath for you and light a candle. Then we would make love and afterward I would give you a full body massage, even your face, scalp, fingers and toes. I want to love you like that again and cook for you and clean for you. You deserve the very best and we as a family deserve to be happy. Maybe one day we will be left alone to figure it out on our own. No one knows you like I do and no one knows me like you do. We have made some mistakes but I know we have what it takes. We have patience, forgiveness, understanding and unconditional love. You are my best friend. Until we meet again, I love you baby, so much. Love, Lisa.”
Everyone makes mistakes. The Bible tells us to forgive. But when you write a book justifying the unjustifiable thing you did, well, you get what you deserve.
So, who wants to add “Betrayed” to their book club list for next month?

I won’t be adding this book or any others like it, to my book club list! This is nothing but trash in it’s truest form. While I understand that publishers are in the business to make money, why do they resort to “tabloid” novels like this? It’s just disgusting. Phil, I hope you took Chandler Brown to dinner for reading this tripe for you!!!

OK, first off let me say that I think ANYONE that marries someone with more than a 5-10 year age difference is CRAZY.
That said, at least these two appear to be in love. The kid is what, 17 now, 15 when it happened? So had they waited three years, NOTHING could have been said.
Furthermore, at least they are in love. Yet she gets sent to jail. Yet when a child rapist who is CAUGHT ON VIDEO gangbanging a girl is convicted and put in jail, all of a sudden we’ve got near riots on our hands.
Like I said, I think the woman is crazy. I would say the same thing about a couple where the man is 45 and the woman 20. But I still think this case is MUCH more of a travesty of justice than the other case. After all, twisted or not, there is at least a declaration of ‘love’ there in this case, and everything I’ve seen in the case at least supports the idea that it is genuine and mutual. NEITHER of which existed in the other case.

As to whether I would read the book or not:
It sounds mildly interesting, so it is on the ‘if I have nothing better to do and this happens to be available’ list.
Certainly higher than If I Did It…

I admit I just now went to Amazon to look up the book — not because I had any intention of buying it, but because I’m a publishing industry nerd and I wanted to know who had published it. But… there was no listing on Amazon. Is this a self-published book? It gives me a glimmer of hope to think that perhaps this tabloid memoir couldn’t find a home at one of the big NY publishers.

I don’t understand this double standard. If this was a 40+ man who had sexual relationship with a 14 year old girl, everyone would be outraged. And the would not be any kind of trashy “book” detailing their relationship published either. Why is it ok for this woman pedophile to do so? It is NOT ok for ANY adult to have a sexual/romantic relationship with a teenager.

Where were her teenage sons when the two love birds were in the bubble bath and doing the Swedish massage thing? When did she have time to act like a decent mother and have a loving family when she was consumed with chasing this man-child to pursue a very selfish tiwsted need. I would like to know more about her past (not enough to buy the book) to see what caused her stunted emotional growth that she seeks love and approval from a child?

GAAAAA!!! Thanks for posting that excerpt, Phil, I just lost my appetite.
Jeff, I think two adults with a sizeable age difference is not similar to an adult and a teen-ager. For example, the McCains have approximately a 20-year difference but they are both over 50.

I think society is in a bad place when people desire and do purchase books written by criminals especially child molesters. This woman has a real psychological problem. It’s okay to find a young person attractive but to act on it is insane. The devil is busy in people and their minds.

If a 14 yo can legally consent to sex with a 17yo (ala the other case I mentioned), why then can’t a 14yo legally consent to sex with a 37 yo??
On the one hand, the law says the 14 yo is of a sufficient mental capacity to consent to sex. On the other hand, the law says the exact opposite. Which is correct????

Jen-thank you!!!! I am a 45 yr old man and I guarantee you if the genders were reversed and I slpt with my neighbors 15 year old daughter, I would do more than 2 years, and I’m sure WSB News would not be running a feature on the touching tale of two people in love.
She is a freak! To think that she sat in jail for 2 years with lots of time to think and she busts out looking to rekindle the relationship….Hello, mcfly…you are a pedophile.
Why hasn’t the judge, parole board forbidden her to be around children….thats anyone under 18!
Maybe Morehouse will give her a Ganarlow scholarship and reward her with a free college education for rape of a minor. Maybe they could room together.

I’ll support listing Lisa Clark as a predator when a GENUINE predator - who was CAUGHT ON TAPE IN THE ACT - is listed as one as well.
I personally do not see any predation in her case. As I’ve said, every indication I’ve seen seems to show a genuine, mutual love interest.
The other case, however, shows genuine predation, and yet we had near riots for several years while he was rightfully behind bars.

I’m not interested in reading the “love story” of a pedophile and her victim and it sickens me to think that she will make a profit off of her crimes. She didn’t serve long enough as it is, and now she has the gall to write about it. She should be forced to cede the profits of her book to the state of GA to pay for the care of her child while it is in foster care.

Jeff, 14-year-olds cannot legally consent to sex. The law against child molestation applies to children younger than 16, and is a felony. There is a provision that if the child is at least 14, but no more than 16, and has sex with an 18-year-old, the older person would be guilty of a misdemeanor. (Georgia Code section 16-6-4) The law against child sexual abuse has a clause that if the abuser is no more than three years older, it is not considered sexual abuse. (Georgia Code section 19-15-1) Hope this answers your questions.

I am ROTFLMAO. Boy I tell ya. White men can’t keep their women. Yall remember that other lady in California years ago who was MARRIED with 4 children and she was sleeping with this boy 12 years old. They are married now with 2 kids. White teacher in Florida now in jail for sleeping with a 14 year old kid. Her defense the first time was that she was toooooo pretty for prison. White women messing with these young boys taking them to Mexico and one was sneaking in the basement with her daughters 14 year old boyfriend while husband was sleeping upstairs. I tell ya white women are outta control and they are always trying to say black women are jealous of them. PLEASE!!!!! I wanna thank these women for debuking the myth that white women are pure as the driven snow.

Everyone of you outraged moralist need to study the really ugly history of sex and race in this country where indentured servants and slaves were availed to any and all owners and overseers that wanted to satisfy their sexual whims. This was a main point, moral turpitude, of Oglethorpe to prohibit slavery at Georgia’s founding. After reading “the Pig Farmers Daughter”, I have better understood the favors afforded to rich or connected persons, and denied to the poor; guilt or innocence generally had and still has little to do with being convicted.

Excuse me Chains. Seems I have struck a nerve. What about white folks that has so much meth in the house the kids lungs are alllllll messed up for life. They can’t cook their kids a decent meal because each pot is on the stove cooking meth. I guess all of the white men are good fathers at home raising their kids with their women. The internet was meant to buy and sell items not for white folks to sell their kids. I sure miss Dateline’s To Catch A Predator where 95% of those perverts are white, married men with kids. Explain that Chains. Since in your message to me white men are at home raising their kids every night.

Lisa Clark’s actions are not the actions of a dangerous predator. Misguided as she is, her attention is focused on one person she says she loves.
The other case involved random sex. The man in question there is a MUCH more serious threat to society as a whole. What is to stop him from forcing himself on another random woman? What if this time he uses a weapon or gives her an STD???

Hotlanta You are the reason racism is still alive.
Not all white guys cook meth. And given the stats, more white men are at home with their kids, than black men, because all the black men are in jail. Blacks way out number whites in jail.
White men don’t have baby mommas. White men don’t have 8 kids with 7 different women. White men don’t go around with their pants around their knees, shooting anyone who “disses” them, and going by stupid names like Lil B, etc.
You want to play the race card? I’ll beat you every time. I have a better hand than you do…..

jeff, from everything i’ve read, he did not force himself on anyone. there’s a video to prove it. if this case involved a 40yr old man who loved his 14yr old girlfriend, would you feel that the 40yr old man was less of a predetor than 17 yr old genarlow? and besides, from the ajc article, the book describes hundreds of escapades she’s had with both men and women. i suppose you think genarlow is more likely to tranmit stds than a 40yr old promiscious woman.

You can’t be in love when you are 14 years old and under the sway of a much older woman. Children’s brains are not fully developed until their early 20s. And this young man is emotionally immature as well. He is not equipped mentally or morally to make a sound decision to be with Lisa Clark. It’s sad she’s manipulated him so. I suspect in ten years, he’ll grow up, come to his senses, and leave her to find the childhood she stole from him.

Lisa Clark is a predator. She manipulated a minor into having sex with her. Who knows if this is the first time. This is the first time she got caught. Anyone who would have sex with a 15-year-old friend of another one of their children is disturbed. She has no consciousness. She could not possibly be in love with this boy because she does not know what normal love is. Any woman who would have sex with and become pregnant by her son’s friend is not capable mothery love or any other type of love. As for her being reunited with the 2-year-old child she had in jail, there is no way she should ever be allowed to raise that child or any other child. She is a convicted child molestor which in my opinion makes her mentally ill and unfit. The child deserves a chance at a normal life which is not going to happen if he is returned to Clark.

That is a sad commentary on our society.
Look at all the male rolemodels on TV.
Everyone of them is light in the loafers or metrosexual. I believe that its a result of parents trying to raise boys the same as girls and that its carried over into our culture.

Jeff, you are seriously misinformed.
Genarlow Wilson had consensual sex with a fellow high school friend of his who was very close to his age. What he did should not even be a crime. Furthermore, certainly, as the Georgia Supreme Court said, 10 years of punishment for it was cruel and unusual, unconstitutional punishment.
The legislators who fought to keep Genarlow in jail and supported it are the true criminals. They are a bunch of complete morons who are a REAL danger to Georgia. Just take a look at their entire body of work regarding Georgia’s sex offender laws. They just can’t seem to write a law that is legal. They want to write laws left and right that violate many of the most basic American ideals, morals, and values. Then they pray that the laws will not be found to be illegal. They are a real danger.
And the truly shocking thing about all of it is that they have done it in the direct opposite face of all known FACTS. Expert after expert have testified before them that their laws are worthless and extremely counter-productive. But they don’t care. They don’t care about public safety. They sure as h*ll don’t care about their lie of “protecting children”. They only care about harming the unwashed “sex offenders”.
I work in the field of sexual offending. Georgia’s registration, etc. laws have done NOTHING good for us. Nothing. They have caused this state a tremendous amount of damage (including getting 6 year old Christopher Barrios murdered) and they will continue to do so. Georgia’s criminal legislators are at it again during this legislative session so all of us citizens can expect even greater damage to come.

I will tell you once and for all why men are ridiculed in this situation more than a woman. When a man has sex with a minor female, he can physically hurt her and make it impossible for her to bear children. He can also mentally do more damage to her because she will feel used. Meanwhile a teenage boy dreams of having sex with an older woman and any man on this blog is lying if he says he never did. I am not saying its right, but its real. Physically he cannot hurt that woman and the only mental thing that could hurt him if she, like lisa clark did, got pregnant.
But ultimately most people who do this are mentally sick and if you listen to her talk..then you would see mentally she is about 15 years old herself…just like the lady in florida.

Sarah, yes, technically you are right. In Georgia, a person under the age of 16 can’t consent to sexual activity. That is only legally speaking, of course. It is not reality. Genarlow was 17 and his “victim” was 15. Certainly there are thousands upon thousands of 15 year olds in this state who are better able to give consent than plenty of 20 year olds.
Regardless, of course the state government has to draw the line somewhere, so fine, they put it at 16. But, just because they arbitrarily decided to put it there doesn’t automagically make Genarlow Wilson a dangerous predator because what he did IS normal sexual behavior. I would be willing to bet there are literally millions of grown men in our great country who have committed the exact same “crime”.
The real question to me is, who are the parents who want the idiots in Georgia’s legislature involved when their son or daughter does this same thing? Who are the parents who would be okay with the state sentencing their child to 10 years in prison? Is that okay with you? Or do you think that perhaps we don’t really need quite that much of a nanny state holding your hand and that problem (teenage sex) could be handled quite sufficiently without putting anyone in jail?
We are the people that have allowed our governments to grow into the ridiculous, criminal monstrosities that they are.
P.S. Actually, law school is in my past and I graduated near the top of my class.

I can not debate you that over the last 100 years that the earth is .8 degrees Celsius warmer. That is a fact, but do I think man is responsible- NO and there are a ton of scientist that agree with that.
Why is Mars hotter? Is there a man made coal burning plant up there that I don’t know about?
I have no issue with anyones sexuality as long as it is consensual and the parties are of age.
I just think that portraying all men as gay is not something that is in the nations best interest.
Look at the Sweet Life of Zack and Cody.
All the men on that show are s-w-e-e-t as sugar.
I have gay friends(actually my wife’s friends) that my son is around and so he is exposed to that, but in very limited amounts because not everyone I know is gay.
VS is horrible and the only thing I can imagine being worse then hunting is watching hunting on TV.
I’m more of a TCM, Foodnetwork, Discovery and A&E(City Confidential) guy.
I don’t care too much for the Disney cartel of ESPN(except during football season)ABC and Disney, Spike, VS, any reality TV and of course Bravo.

Hey racists:
The girl accused him of rape. That’s why charges were brought up against him.
A jury acquitted Wilson of raping the older girl, but convicted him of aggravated child molestation against the 15-year-old. The “aggravated” nature of the charge refers to f****** (oral sex) rather than a mere “immoral or indecent act.” Had the two teenagers had intercourse without oral sex, Wilson would have been charged with a misdemeanor, punishable up to 12-months, with no sex offender status, instead of the mandatory 10-year minimum term that the judge gave him.
10 years was too much but it was reversed.
I also believe that alcohol and cocaine were involved.

genarlow wilson did not rape that girl…her mom said she told her it was consentual. the only problem is that it was a black boy and a white girl and that is still taboo in this society. teen white boys and white girls have been screwing each other since forever and the same for black boys and black girls. But when it became interracial, meaning black boy and white girl…suddenly its rape.

Nobody wants to mess with the kids with parents like me. Will somebody please tell her that black eyeliner around her lips went out in the 80’s. Please!!!!!!!!!!

Yall are so funny. Racism is alive and well in Atlanta I see. I hope she doesn’t sell one book…black and white people this is one to boycott. I’ll buy her book, and any magazine she might spread her assets in. I just hope Playboy picks her up, and she profits from the whole thing. You Southern republican bible thumping hypocrits would publicly crucify her if you could but privately you would love to love her.

back to the initial question of ” would you add this book to your bookclub list” ? To me , it’s TRASH, I wouldn’t even look at it if I’d see it on the shelf, it’s a cheap way of making money and it mostlikely will make Miss Lisa money, because there’s enough cheap people out there who will read TRASH!

Hey vigilantes!! You should take a look around Miss Clark’s home for any swimming pools, churches, etc. because you might be able to use Georgia’s sex offender banishment laws to force her from that home (and the next one, the one after that, etc., etc.). You’ve got to protect children, right? She’s clearly an ever present danger to all children near her, a much greater danger than, for example, that 25 year old guy who broke into his neighbor’s house in the middle of the night, put a shotgun to their heads, and threatened to kill them (that’s why we don’t register people like him).
You people who support these registries make me sick. Maybe you should pay attention to something that is actually your business.

john, perhaps you should get together a group of good people who think like you and go over to Miss Clark’s house to warn her neighbors and harass her and her family some. After all, it’s all for public safety and preteckin chilren, right? That’s definitely your business. And it’s your right to add more punishment to Miss Clark than the courts did and generally harass her. Maybe you can get her fired from any employment she might have. That should all increase public safety. Call your Georgia Senators and Representatives, they will help you.

My prayer for Lisa and her family is that they would move the heck out of Georgia and live happily forever.

If you don’t like her address published—-tough—-It’s the LAW they have to register. Cry to your goverment officials. After all it is your tax dollars funding it. LOL

john, you are right, it is my tax dollars that are paying for our P-O-S registries. I am one of the minority of people who actually pays any significant amount of taxes. And believe me, I am not happy with the idiotic waste of resources that Georgia’s sex offender laws have caused and are causing. All just so some uninformed, ignorant, irresponsible “people” can look at the registries and feel better.
I am going to do more that cry to the state legislators. I am going to hit them where it hurts - it is going to cost them politically and personally. Then maybe some day we can get some decent people into those jobs.

I’m sorry, I have to ring in on this Wilson thing. It all comes down to one thing. Moral value. If the parents of these kids would have been more involved and taught them the right thing then there would be nothing to talk about on this subject. I think the parents of both kids in the Wilson case should have been arrested. The argument that a parent can’t be there every moment doesn’t cut it. If you teach youe kids well and the right thing, that will follow them where ever they go.

**I’ve got to agree with you John. The bottom line is we have lost sight of Morals and Values. Black and White people have traded in our morals for the pursuit of the mighty dollar. If you have enough money or can make money then it AOK…

What a beautiful and touching proclamation of love! I too think I shall write a book regaling my life and sexual exploits: “Our love will transcend all time! Soulmates reaching out to find each other in a dark and lonely world! One soul in two bodies……Oh crap, I’m making myself queasy.

Does the Hall County D.A. have NOTHING to do but stay on this woman’s back? Yes, she committed a crime, AND she did the time. Please, Mr. D.A., focus on the abundance of other criminals running around your circuit. You’re beginning to come off as petty, spiteful and BORED in your job.

Amen to that Observer, this Hall County DA AH knows he can keep his name and nose in the news as long as he continues to hairass Ms. Clark. Maybe he really secretly loves her and wants to protect her from herself,or keep her to himself, and he must really like her book having already read through it underlining the exciting passages. It looks like he is recommending it as required reading and will help sell it out.

Anybody know when Lisa’s celebrity porn video will be released? She’s not Paris Hilton quality but she’s at least as good as Amy Fisher.

Hey- how about the fact that she used really poor judgement in acting on her desires with this boy, (and are we forgetting how amorous 14-15 yr old boys can be?? And with a Hot Mama around?) Got pregnant, went to jail, had to give up her infant less than a week after giving birth, did her time, and is done. That’s the whole purpose of prison, right? Do your time, and go on with living? She served her time, and if the judge had wanted her to do more, then she would have. Got a problem wiht someone doing their time and then going on with thier life? Then maybe you should try on prison for a while…
Give her a break- you don’t have to read the book, watch the news coverage, or approve of her moral choices any more than she has to bother with any of us.

There is definately something missing in her life to carry on with what is/was a child. With that being said she has done her time, leave her alone and let her live the rest of her life with her child and her boy toy, if that’s what they both want.

Both of them are pretty messed up people. There is no victem here.
I have read the book, and neither of them can be justified. The boy (whose name I know, but don’t know if I can type it yet…) is into just as many disturbing things as Lisa.
Lisa regularly calls our house, and asked about the book. We’ve told her our thoughts.

I will not be getting this book. I think that any person man or woman who takes advantage of children should be taken off the streets.
This child had a horrible childhood and needed a mother figure and Lisa knew this and manipulated him. He probably is in love with her but not like a husband and wife. This child has been looking for his mother (who looks alot like Lisa). He is a victim and has been since birth. His grandmother tried to do what she could to give him and his sister a good life. I can’t see how anybody would think that this would be okay. He was a child and she is a predator!

This book is sexually explicit and graphic. However, it’s no more sexual or erotic than what goes on in the lives of everyday people. It is the true life story of Lisa Clark. Betrayed depicts her as a sexual predator in the beginning, and it details her encounters, fantasies, trials, and conceptions with each of her previous husbands, and lovers. Then it moves into describing how she came upon Adrian, her current husband and it details her brief life spent with him before her incarceration. Initially we have a victim mentality of the young boy. On the other hand, up until Lisa told her story to the author, no one really had ever listened to her story. All they saw was an older woman who had sex with an under aged, but by no means underdeveloped boy, and the legal system classified her as a pedophile. However, the author, after listening to her story, saw that there was more to it than that classification, and that is why the author felt the story needed to be told. After reading this novel, the way the author has written it, we see two themes. Tragedy and Triumph. Tragedy because she has committed pedophile acts with Adrian when he was a minor and has broken the law. She has paid the price for doing so. The relationship triumphed over that tragedy over the love and concern for raising their child. She should be condemned for her past illegal acts, but she should be applauded for her current efforts of trying to regain custody of the child, and establish a relationship with child and father. To the extent that they can develop a healthy relationship as consenting adults, they should be allowed to do so, for the benefit of the child. Even out of the trash, a rose can grow. Rose symbolizing “Skye-the baby”. There’s no reason to visit the sins of the mother upon the child, and the baby is her only current concern.
