Fashion winners and losers at the Emmys

Several starlets strolled down the red carpet in red — the hottest hue of the season. Chandra Wilson of “Grey’s Anatomy,” Allison Janney of “The West Wing,” Jane Kaczmarek of “Malcolm in the Middle,” and Heidi Klum of “Project Runway” wore variations on the most popular lipstick color. Amy Poehler (“Arrested Development”), Evangeline Lilly (“Lost”) and Leah Remini (“The King of Queens”) stood out in aubergine. “It’s the new black,” said Tim Gunn of the “Project Runway” reality show. Sandra Oh (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Portia de Rossi (“Arrested Development”) and Kyra Sedgwick (“The Closer”) ventured out in lighter shades, such as silvery blue and smoky gray, that helped them beat the heat. But actress Ellen Pompeo (“Grey’s Anatomy”) braved the rising temperatures in a purple velvet gown by John Galliano for Christian Dior.

Black took on stylish proportions, thanks to Megan Mullally (“Will & Grace”) in Badgley Mischka.

Lace was sexed up on the red carpet. Jaime Pressly turned the tables on her tacky on-screen character Joy from “My Name is Earl” by wearing a glamorous Badgley Mischka. Jennifer Morrison (“House”) donned a second skin of white lace designed by Hérve Léger.

Low-cut gowns helped stars like Tyra Banks, Morgan Fairchild and Virginia Madsen accentuate their two best features.

Who did you think looked great? Who should have just stayed home (and have their stylist fired ASAP)?

Yikes, I just saw Candace Bergen. What was she thinking?

Every time I think I don’t want to look like I’m growing older, I’m going to remember what “Charlie’s Angels” looked like when they walked out on stage!!! One (I don’t remember her name) had a facelift that was so tight, I didn’t think her mouth would shut all the way. And Farrah Faucet looked like she had leather for skin and she must have had on a body suit under her dress to hold it all in because she looked like she was going to explode!!! How sad these women can’t see how hideous they look!

Wow - Don’t be so hard on the Angels! They’re all over 50 and they look darn good for their age. Especially Jaclyn Smith - she looks amazing! There is a lot of pressure these days to look a certain way in Hollywood. Just think, they’re old enough to be grandmothers. I don’t recall my grandma ever looking like that!

Jennifer Love Hewitt is a tiny woman, but that outfit made her look hippy like the rest of us.

You must have meant to place Sandra Oh in the losers’ category. The color of the dress and the jewelry was just a bit too much. Yuk… RM

Ditto - the WORST dressed woman was Candice Bergen - that belt added insult to injury. And Kate Jackson’s facelift was too tightly pulled.
