I truly have enjoyed everything that Tyler has created. His plays and movies have not only made me laugh, but they have also have made me stop and think about areas of my life that I need to change as well as the areas of my life that I need to thank God for on a daily basis. He has brought back to rememberance the times of old when we Madea was alive and well in every black family. Tyler, I commend you and pray that the hand of God continues to cover you.

To me, the characters in Perry’s plays remind me of people I have seen growing up. Some may think his characters are stereotypical, and there is some truth to that. However, there is also truth in those characters. What I like most about Perry’s work is that it is positive. God knows we need as many positive Black images as possible! He has my support.

Tyler Perry is a phenomenal person. He is versatile and talented. He is definitely a role model to others and hope that our youth would get involved with his projects and learn of his history and would follow in his footsteps. Being from New Orleans, I have to give Tyler his props and also pray for his family who lived in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. May God Bless him and his family through all of his endeavors and successess!!!

Tyler Perry’s movies are great entertainment and I will be there at opening night for the next one.
His movies do have every black stereotype in them, from the Black Beast to the Bad Black Woman to a Mammy character and so on. Most of his protaganists are hopelessly superstitious - and the entire cast are portrayed as in trouble now and always going to be in trouble, basically Childlike. I think this was the same formula as the old Amos and Andy TV Show (which was popular also).
Having said this it’s funny!. I’ve known people like this. I don’t have any of them in my life because they are too unstable and dramatic to tolerate.
It’s fun to watch movies that are not politically correct! Tyler Perry’s movies and plays are an interesting contrast to “The Cosby Show” and “A Different World”.

Wow … to read a lot of these comments you would think Tyler is God Incarnate!!! He’s probably missing a very gold opportunity by not going to where the establishment is in California. To each his own, I guess.

Tyler knows how to portray black folks just as they are. And he can do it without calling women b’s and h’s and any other derogatory words out there. I enjoy his movies and hope he continues to have the success he has enjoyed.

I am not at all a Fan of Tyler Perry but I respect his hustle and his right to portray HIS black experience.
Instead of just complain though that his voice is not mine I actually have DONE SOMETHING. I invite Mr. Perry or anyone in his organization to contact me at the email listed so that I may have an audience with them to discuss other projects that may help flesh out what the world sees as the black experience in these united states. Now that he is in a position to affect change and have the black experience not be a two dimensional, either a thug/baller or a black man in a dress, portrayal in mass media I would reach out to him to hear ideas from people who are unlike him in ideology and experiences.

Happy Birthday to you Mr. Perry. I love your sitcom “House of Payne” and hope there are many more episodes to come. The Lord truly has a way of turning things around for us, if we allow Him to. You are a living testimony for all the world. Stay in that secret place with the Most High and forever abide in shadows of the Almighty! I’m proud of you!

Tyler is truly a man living his life fulfilling the vision God has given him. My hope and prayer is that he continues to keep God first in his life and continue to allow God to order his steps. Inspite of things that happened in your past, you have grown and continue to grow in to being the man God created you to be. Thank YOU for being YOU.
