Best and worst of Globes fashion

The fashion staff compiled our thoughts on the best and worst of the red carpet.
WORST: Vanessa Williams: Talk about too much of a good thing. Had she lost the fur and the hair, that Carmen Marc Valvo gown would have stolen the show.
Jennifer Love Hewitt: She has outgrown the prom queen look. This dress was the wrong color, the fit was off and it was too busy for this pretty actress to carry off.
Cameron Diaz: This is not the dress to impress her recent ex (Justin Timberlake). Really, it’s awful.
Rinko Kikuchi: Boudoir couture, courtesy of (believe it or not) Chanel.
Jeremy Irons: The long jacket, the off-white shirt, the set of matched luggage under his eyes … what a mess.
BEST: America Ferrera: She was the epitome of beauty. From the smile to the gorgeous amethyst gown.
Drew Barrymore: Sometimes criticism pays off. Last year, Barrymore was a green disaster. This time, not so much. The pink gown accentuated her curves perfectly.
Jennifer Hudson: This not-so-basic black Vera Wang gown got plenty of screen time. Hudson glowed, before and after picking up a well-deserved trophy.
Patrick Dempsey: Some guys get better with age. Some guys look like they were born to wear a tuxedo. Fortunately for us, Dempsey falls into both categories.

You pretty much got it right. Cameron’s dress was hideous. Vanessa looked so much better when she ditched the jacket. The hair had a life of its own. Not a good idea at all.

Jennifer Hudson’s dress was actually a dark navy. It fit her very well. It was very flattering. I thought her hair and make up was on point also. I hated Beyonce’s look. That look was dreadful. I thought Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt looked great - as did Will Smith and Jada. Cameron Diaz looked awful - between the dress and the lipstick, I don’t know which was worse. She will never get ‘Sexy Back’ with that look!!

Jennifer looked beautiful, however I would have loved to see her in a brighter color. Beyonce looked like she was at the BET awards…I also loved Eva Longoria’s look.

Angelina Jolie, Eva Longoria, Katherine Heigl, Jada Pinkett Smith, Hilary Swank and Jennifer Lopez were absolutely breathtaking.

I disagree on Jennifer Love Hewitt…I thought she looked lovely and the dress was much more sophisticated than prom wear. Cameron Diaz on the other hand looked like she just walked off the set of Mary Had a Little Lamb - the movie. Agree with you on the hair and fur that Vanessa was wearing…she doesn’t need the “extra” accessories and it just muddied her look. As a general comment I love it that so many beautiful women with normal size bodies were represented (Drew, Jennifer H, America)
