Happy birthday, Elton

Elton John is celebrating his 60th with a concert at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. In this package, he talks about why he loves Atlanta and how he never thought he would even reach this ripe age, nevermind enjoying it so much.

How do you feel about Elton and what greetings would you send him?

Sixty never seems as old when you’re 60 as it does when you’re 20. But some people, like Elton John, are ageless. Happy birthday - and keep on writing and performing that great music!

Happy Birthday, Elton. I think you are the greatest pop singer ever. You are so welcome in Atlanta. Your music is fantastic-I am about your age so I’ve followed you since the early 70’s-don’t let your Greatest Hits 1970-2002 get too far away from me. Love to you-you’re Great!-Harriet

Elton..Happy B-day! I will hit the big 50 this year and can still remember when I first heard you sing. I was a teenager and some friends and I were in a Blue Circle restaurant. One friend played a song of yours on the juke box and I remember how much I enjoyed it. I have seen you twice in Atlanta..my teenage daughter loves your music as much as I do. You are a treasure to the USA and England. Many happy returns!!

Happy 60th Birthday Elton!! You are my favorite entertainer of all time and I am so happy for all that you have acheived in your life. Shortly before my Dad passed away 2 years ago, we shared a very special moment together watching your “Dream Ticket” DVD concerts. It brought tears to his eyes when he heard “Carla Etude.” The beauty in that moment is a memory I will always cherish. Thanks for being a part of my life and such an inspiration to us all. -Jeff

It amazes me that someone could live to be 60 while living such a perverse lifestyle.

(Psst! Your outdates prejudices are showing, Joe.)

Congratulations to Elton! Your music, your wit, and your charitable work have been inspirations.

I was lucky enough to attend the 2005 Philadelphia Freedom concert at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which Elton headlined. He only played six songs, but they were the six I would have chosen from his entire discography. It was an amazing night!

Happy Birthday Elton! You are lookin’ fabulous at 60!!!! I share a birthday with you. This year was a big one for me too…my 40th. I considered joining you in NY for our big day, but didn’t make plans soon enough to get there. Like you, I had big bash and also danced with my friends to “Saturday Night Fever.” Back in 1992, when I turned 25 and you turned 45, Star 94 spent the morning requesting volunteers for Elton John karaoke down on Peachtree Road. I performed a scary little rendition of “Daniel’s Song” for you and later was very happy to hear that you did NOT hear it and spent your birthday with the Queen. Atlanta loves you, Elton!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, you youngin’!!!
