Harry Potter Book 7: What Will Happen?

It’s almost here.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the seventh and final book in the most popular series in the history of publishing, arrives at midnight Friday. Bookstores will be jammed with folks dressed up like wizards, sleep will be in short supply all weekend long, and the UPS truck will be cause for dancing and celebration on Saturday as the amazon.com shipments start arriving.

But before it hits, here’s your last chance at predictions: What do you think will happen?

Will Harry die in his final battle with Voldemort?

Is Snapes really good, really evil, or really confused?

Can Dumbledore re-appear, even if he really is dead?

Ron and Hermione: Happily ever after, or pushing up daisies?

Will J.K. Rowling forget some little loose thread?

Tell us your ideas, your theories, your wishes.

We find out that either Dudley or Draco is Snape’s son—-I narrowed it down to those 2.

We learn why Hermione is the only one called ‘Mud blood” all the time when other half and halfs are in the school.

We learn that Dudley has magical tendencies—-he saw the dementors—and the reason Petunia spoils him is to keep his temper down…so that he doesn’t accidentially exhibit them (ala Harry blowing up Aunt Marge).

We finally learn the importance of socks in the books.

Neville gains confidence and avenges his parents….he also learns that his faulty memory is due to a charm to keep him from remembering he saw his parents tortured w/ Cruitatius.

The 4 houses join together to end it all.

The Statue of Secrecy is finally lifted.

Harry lives. Ron gets Hermione. Ginny gets Harry….but it is no fairy tale ending.

A Weasley dies (percy? charley?). More deaths than the ‘2’ everyone keeps quoting (she actually said 2 more than planned).

We find out Snape is out for Snape but essential did go to the Order of his own accord and has been helping Harry.

RAB is Regulus who also saw error of his ways.

Peter (aka Wormtail) does indeed have a wizard debt to Harry and he loses his life paying it.

Anyway that is what Trewlawny’s crystal ball and Divination classes showed me.

Happily and anxiously awaiting book 7…..

“Dumbledore said as long as they don’t take him off the Wizard trading card (in the chocolate frogs)” (ok that was more paraphrased than quote….OthP one of the twins said it). Dumbledore will talk through the cards and his portrait at Hogwarts….he will never be truly gone until none loyal to him are still at Hogwarts.

JKR has promised to leave her loyal readers things to speculate on….it is part of the fun and she ‘gets that’

Hermione is singled out as a “mudblood” because both of her parents are muggles. The books have never really mentioned whether or not there is another student at Hogwarts who is a first generation witch or wizard. I’m guessing this is why Draco singles her out.

I think Nevil is the chosen one, Dumbledore and Sirius will never really be gone, and of course someone will die…probably a few people.

My husband ordered me the leather bound goldleaf edition, it’s arriving on Saturday. I CAN’T WAIT!

Harry and his parents were in an awful accident. The incident with Harry’s parents being killed by Voldermort was actually a dream, leaving Harry in a coma. When he awakes, the whole story, Hogwart’s, Voldermort, Wormtail, Snape, everything was all just a dream!

I’ve guessed all along that one of the Weasley twins will not make it. I seriously doubt JK will kill off Harry. We’d have a bigger revolt than the voting scandal in 2000. And that’s just in the US.

Just like such people. To ruin and tell the ending to the lead character and characters of the story before others have a chance to read/see for theirselves. I want to read/see the ending chronicles of the characters and the story myself. So shut up!

BH Get real, we are doing conjecture and thought processes here….I do not think any poster has actually been one of the few to have read the book before the release.

@ FCM

There is an excellent editorial on RAB that posted on Mugglenet.com. yesterday. It got me thinking about who RAB really may be. According to that poster RAB is more than likely the Uncle of Surius and Regulus (Regulus is named for him) because Regulus was way too young when he died to have the type of magical power to overcome a horucrux. It was quite thought provoking. It was an angle I had not thought of since we got a look at the Black Family Tree.

Another the note of character deaths - I believe that Hagrid and more Wealsey’s like Charlie will die. He has not had enough character development to warrant life. Also the twins will die.

I can not wait until Friday so I can stop speculating and get to reading…

I think Harry, Ron, and Hermione will be sitting at the Leaky Cauldron eating, planning their final confrontation with Voldemort, and “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey will begin playing in the background.

Ginny will be outside having a hard time parellel parking her broomstick and as she appears to open the door, the pages suddenly go blank…

It worked for the Sopranos, why not Potter?

Well if the Bible were true and Harry was real, then I’d say the reality is that it would end quite badly for him … (ie. in a fire that never ever ceases).

That’s what happens when someone substitues the Real Truth for wistful thinking.

Of course, we all know that Harry isn’t real.

I just want to say that I have no idea what will happen and I probably wont make any guesses before I read it. I just hope harry, ron, and hermonie are not killed off. It would just leave the readers at a horrible place. I mean who really wants the series to die off the 3 main characters we have grown to love over the past like 10 years! I know I will be so mad.

From my re-reading of the books and reading various forums and from things that JK Rowling has said, I believe that Snape and Ginny Weasley will die. To quote JK Rowling, she goes for the “main characters.” Look at who has died throughout the series, always people that Harry loves or has some connection to, maybe with the exception of Cedric Diggory. Anyways I believe that for Harry to issue Avada Kedava, he has to mean it. Meaning that when he kills Voldemort it is because Voldemort has killed someone that he truly loves. He truly loves Ginny Weasley and in order to kill Voldemort with the killing curse it will be to avenge Ginny Weasley’s death. I believe that Snape just has to die because he is a miserable, and yes I believe that Snape is good.

Predictions:

Snape will die…but for a good cause. It will be revealed he was in on Dumbledore’s death, but will still die…probably at the hand of Voldemort.

Harry will stay out his time at Hogwart’s and become a teacher there. He seemed to enjoy doing that in OOP…it is his calling, following in the steps of Dumbledore.

Aunt Petunia (this theory is from my mom) is actually a witch. She is in on the whole thing. This is why the Dursley’s continually come back to each story. They have a larger role than the oppressor.

Who know if any of this will happen, it’s just my humble guess.

Can’t wait until 12:01 am 7/21/07! Happy Reading!

I believe that Laura Mallory has been really freaking out all month—a new movie and a new book within a couple of weeks of each other.

Siriusly, I have also wondered if Neville is the real Chosen One. I think he will become a fantastic wizard. I also wonder if Harry might be a horcrux himself. I really can’t stand the thought of losing any of the Weasley kids except Percy, but I am also afraid that it will be Fred, George, or Ginny, but then again, it could be Arthur or Molly.

If you read the books from a real Christian perspective, I think the author has provided much of an alagory (spelling?) for the Christian faith. I was especially interested in the conversation Dumbledore (God) had with Voldermort (Satan) when Voldermort wanted to return as a teacher to Hogwarts (Heaven) the only home he had ever known. Dumbledore sadly rejected him because he wanted to come back for the wrong reasons, yet he still see him as he was born (created?) as Tom, much the same way God must see Satan as Lucifer (whom He created).

I think that there is a very good chance that Voldermort could die and Tom Riddle return remembering Dumbledore’s old truth that love is more powerful than insecurity, hate or control. Remember that Voldermart is the product of child abuse, and that may really be what this story is about; reconciliation.

Also I think it is more than coincidence that Lucifer changed his name to Satan after leaving Heaven (better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven), just as Tom Riddle changed his name to Lord Voldermart after leaving Hogwarts (better to rule Death Eaters than serve in Hogwarts?).

Remember that Lord Voldermart is the Snake (Genesis) and Dumbledore’s pet is the Phoenix (One must die in himself to be reborn a new person - Christian theology).

Also Harry is now the Chosen One. Jesus never called himself Christ. Christ is the Greek word for “the Chosen One.” Just as Jesus was both man and God, Harry is very human. However Jesus was without sin, and Harry obviously is not.

I think the author is smarter than a lot of people give her credit. I think the story has an overall message greater than the subplots. It may be a beautiful message in the end for those who see through the subplots.

I agree that Aunt Penunia is a witch, but a failed one—kicked out or failed at Hogwarts. Neville will kill Bellatrix, Harry will save Draco from his father or Voldemort, and Draco will be in debt to Harry. And yes, the series has tons of Christian allegories.

Wow Avid Reader! You make really great points! Everything seems very logical and makes a lot of sense! One thing is for sure, it will be very interesting how it turns out! Also, you are very correct about the intellegence of Rowling…I’m sure she’s going to throw a curve ball at all of us!

I don’t think Dudley saw the Dementors - he ran right into the one that attacked him - but it’s interesting to think that he’s the one who had previously shown no magical tendencies that JKR mentioned in an interview. She did confirm that it’s NOT Aunt Petunia. The only other possible person would be Mr. Filch, the squib caretaker.

I read the two newspaper reviews of the book, and sadly one provides a bit too much information about the ending. Still, there are a LOT of other questions to be answered. Re-reading all of the books in order before starting “Deathly Hallows” shows how good Rowling is at foreshadowing, and how seemingly inconsequential events and comments turn out to be significant.

My one question - at the end of “Order of the Phoenix,” Voldemort looks at his circle of Death Eaters and identifies eight people who are missing - three are dead, the LeStranges are in Azkaban, and the other three are Snape, the headmaster of Durmstrang, and Barty Crouch, Jr. So where did the eight people who escaped Azkaban with the LeStranges come from?

If Avid Reader is right about all the Biblical parallels, does this mean that someone will betray Harry? Is there a Judas among his friends?

I love the idea of Dudley being a wizard…..however Filch is not the only squib we know….Mrs. Figg would be a candidate on that one. Hagrid, like Neville ‘was never any great shakes’ at it.

Cats and green eyes come to my mind when they talk about Harry’s eyes…plus cats play an interesting supporting role in the first 6.

Oh well less than 12 hours until the book is unleashed and we know the fate.

I think that one thing is for sure, a large number of losers who needed a hug from their parents when they were growing up, will be in line at midnight. At 1201, these adults will trample all of the children in line just so they can get their fix. Once they read the final sentence, the world wide web will be enlightened with their two cents.

Where are you guys getting these “predictions” from. Are we even reading the same books? Let’s try and remember that a prediction should be based on the evidence from the canon and then possibly what the author has “let slip” (keeping in mind that JKR is too clever to let anything really juicy go). To speculate that Draco is Snape’s son is just ridikulus.

Here is my prediction for the only thing that really matters: the fates of Voldemort and Harry. Voldemort will suffer “a fate worse than death” at the hands of the dementor’s kiss. Remember that the two most prominent themes in the books are death and love. Death is not the end of anything nor is it the worst possible fate, contrary to Voldemort’s opinion. While love is the weapon which Harry posseses which the Dark Lord “knows not.” Love / happiness is what gives Harry the ability to summon such a strong Patronus. I like the irony of Voldemort being done in by one of his own foul devices, and I bet JKR does too. Harry lives and Voldemort’s soul is forever trapped in limbo by the dementors.

Here is my prediction for the only thing that really matters: the last battle between Voldemort and Harry. Snape and Wormtail may pay their debts to Harry (for their part in the death of Harry’s parents) by taking out a Horcrux or two. But in the end, Voldemort will suffer “a fate worse than death” at the hands of the dementor’s kiss. Remember that the two most prominent themes in the books are death and love. Harry is last Horcrux. He confronts the idea of killing himself to stop Voldemort. Just before he kills himself, Snape finds a spell that will destroy the last horcrux, without killing Harry. The spell will destroy the last horcrux, killing voldemort, however it will destroy Harry’s magic ability. His self sacrafices kills voldemort but leaves himself as a muggle.
