Shut out of Hannah Montana?

Tickets went on sale Saturday morning to the “Hannah Montana” show in November at the Gwinnett Arena. Not only were they sold out pretty much instantly, there are reports of people who were first in line at a Ticketmaster outlet being told there were no tickets available.

If you don’t have a daughter of a certain tender age, then getting to see the Disney Channel’s biggest star, teen sensation Mylie Cyrus, who plays Hannah, is no big deal. But if you’re a parent who tried to get tickets and failed, the only way to get them now is to pay a mortgage-sized markup to an online scalper.

Did you try and fail to get Hannah Montana tickets? What’s your tale of woe? And will you pay the scalpers’ markup?

If you have nothing better to do than this, you need to get a life!! My 15 yr old likes the show, but to spend valuable time and money to see this girl in person…………….NOT!!!!

To see a hyped-up kid - who absolutely cannot act (her over-acting on her show is horrid) - at the kind of prices required, is insane.

Paying the kind of mark-up required shows your kids your warped sense of values.

To sell out that quickly, clearly there were deals made with ticket “brokers” (read: scalpers). This is bad business for a Disney promotion.

They are in the hands of ticket brokers. They are in the hands of promoters and radio stations. They are in the hands of people who are in the industry or have connections in Gwinnett. I bet only 1/4 of the total tickets were avail to the public on Thursday. Why even call this “event” public. Its more like a private party that has a few invites for the public.

I like how the GWen Stefani conert worked. All the good seats required will call only pickup. This cut down on the scalping.

I believe this tarnishes Disney reputation 10X’s more than 3 year old puppylove sick Vanessa Hudgens photos.

Um, yeah the exact same thing happened last Friday at 10AM for tickets to the Foo Fighters at the Tabernacle. I have a feeling that few if any tickets were even available at the “public on sale” time, because at 10am the response was “no tickets available” There was a pre-sale on Thursday for people that scored special codes, so I imagine it sold out before it was truly on sale.

Check out eBay.

The people who are paying eBay prices to pacify their kids are fools! Talk about the tail wagging the dog. I am tempted to go to the concert, and stand outside to watch invertebrate parents being controlled by pre-teens. More fun than people watching at Phipps.

This is a scam and Disney should be punished. It is illegal to scalp tickets in Ga from what I have been told. My kids were heartbroken. Maybe she will end up like Britney Spears if there is justice.

We joined the fan club for $30 to get pre-sale tickets. I hit the buy button at 10:00am on the Sep. 11. By the time my screen returned to me at 10:01am no tickets were available.

We tried again on 15th, except we got the no tickets available screen quicker. How can that be?? Something is wrong here.

My daughter is very upset because this was going to be her birthday gift. We aren’t sure what to do now. I don’t think we will be paying $250 a ticket from scalpers on the Ticketmaster site. Do you think Ticketmaster is holding back tickets so they can sell them for more profit on THEIR scalper site?

I just checked eBay. Although tickets went on sale Saturday, there are currently 92 auctions for Hannah tickets at Gwinnett. These are some of the starting bid requirements:

  • 6th section on the floor (about 100 ft from stage) - 4 tickets for $2,000

  • 3rd section on the floor (about 50 ft from stage) - 2 tickets for $1,300

  • 3rd section on the floor (about 50 ft from stage) - 8 tickets for $4,000

  • Section 105 - 4 tickets for $1,300

  • Section 121 - 3 tickets for $1,000

  • Section 205 (upper deck) - 4 tickets for $1,000

  • Pairs all over the place for $500

If you bought the tickets from ticketmaster, good for you. If you plan on paying these scalped prices, I’d love to see how you can say you’re not trying to buy your kids love and teaching them proper values.

Ticketmaster has to be in with the scalpers. There were none online for the “presale” after joining the club for $30. There were none online the morning tickets went on sale for the “general public”. There were none available at the Ticketmaster windows or phone. This is a scam and I will NOT pay the scalper price. I didn’t want to pay the face value to send the wife and daugther, but was willing to. There is no way I will pay $200-$1000+ per ticket. Ebay was full of tickets shortly after tickets went on sale. I have yet to meet anyone that was able to get tickets. Ticketmaster’s system to prevent scalping isn’t working. What a joke. I think they are in bed with them. Ticketmaster should be renamed to Ticketscalper.

There are reasonable tickets for sale on Craig’s list. My brother-in-law got tickets on Tuesday through the fan club pre-sale with no problems, $56.00 per ticket and it is a Christmas Present for my daughter. Fan club members could only purchase four tickets during the pre-sale and were tracked through member number.

I went on line at 7:30a, Saturday morning, and tried to purchase tickets. For some reason, none of the tickets at any price point were available. By the time I was able to get back on-line, the lowest price tickets were gone. the whole thing seems a bit strange. I didn’t have this much trouble getting tickets for the Cheeta Girls.

We tried at 10:00 and nothing was available. There is no way I would ever pay the prices they are asking with the brokers and the thought that some parents will actually buy these is concerning. Too bad for the fans that wanted to see the concert and apparently never sttod a chanse.

The cheapest ticket I saw was $119.00, for upper deck in the back!! It was about $300.00 for upper deck near the stage and $850.00 for front row!!!

How much more are the scalpers going to make? My husband said they make the prices that high to avoid the scalpers making the money, but who would even pay $850.00 at the non-scalper price?!?

It isn’t just the monopoly of ticketmaster, but basically any major event scheduled for the Gwinnett Center will be severly limited in availability, because all the pre-sales specials gobble up tickets prior to offering to the general public. Gwinnett is notorious for this.

My advice is to check Ticketmaster the day of the show. I have gotten into “sold out” shows this way a few times - somehow they decide to release tickets the day of, ones I guess that couldn’t be sold for a higher price.

yep, it sucks that you didnt get tickets. But the reality is, ticket brokers are legal in Georgia and because of that, the brokers have teams of folks that do nothing but sit in front of computer monitors and ticket lines and buy up tickets for resale later. supply & demand baby….

Oh the beauty of the free market at work.

Large corporations have known for quite a while that it is the child that controls the budgets of American families, and now many ticket brokers are finding this to be true as well. I love the emotional reaction this elicits from people. I have a friend who has created his own business selling tickets online. He has done all of his research on inner-state commerce laws to make sure his business is performing legally and is doing quite well in his new start-up. I don’t call him greedy. I call him a very sound businessman.

The question is supply and demand — And how much are you willing to pay to have your child control your purse? My friend and honest individuals like him that are trying to feed their families hope quite a bit.

SCAM!!! Tried the presale last week, sold out immediately. Had 6 people trying to get tickets on Saturday morning via the internet and in line, NOTHING. Not one person I know got seats. Saw seats at broker sites last week and they were $200 - $1800. Ticketmaster is a monopoly and should be put out of business. This is ridiculous! I have never been able to get seats that I wanted from Ticketmaster. Something has to be done.

This ticket sale was ridiculous. We joined the fan club, presale started @ 10:00 and wow “there are no tickets that match your request” by 10:01??? Saturday comes, tickets go on sale @ 10:00, and @ 10:01 once again “there are no tickets that match your request” We also tried to get tickets at a Publix and we were denied there too. This was very frustrating!!!

I JOINED the Hannah Montana fan club because they said we could get tickets earlier than Saturday and they were sold out before the fan club members could even get them. I would like to know where all the tickets went!!! I truly believe this was a SCAM to get the extra 30 dollars for the fan club. THEN they said we could not get a refund on our credit card for the fan club and it is AUTO renew every year! This has SCAM written all over it…

I’m not sure how come so many people couldn’t get tickets through the presale. Not only did I get really good tickets through the presale, but I had a friend trying for me on another computer, and she got 4 to come up as well. And Scott—please keep in mind that not all parent are being “controlled by their preteens”. I paid regular ticket price for them or we wouldn’t be going, and I think I wanted to see the concert just as much as my kids!

yes, I did try for two hours to get tickets for Hannah Montana. The phone lines were busy the entire time!! This morning I found hundreds of tickets online - at horrendous prices!!! I am new to GA so the power of these “borkers” are amazing. Who do they work for and where? Are they corporate or private companies? It appears to me that 1 person out of 20 people was able to get tickets… strange???? I suggest that all of you that “joined” the club, mail a certified letter of your intent to cease memebership @ the end of your paid term. Otherwise contact your credit card company & put a stop to all transactions from Disney Good luck, I hope I dont have this much trouble for BET Hip Hop Awards tickets.

If you can come up with a better idea then ticketmaster then feel free to start your own version and then wait for the money to roll your way. Until then dont complain. I had no idea you could make money on scalping in Atlanta. I made monay doing it in Indianapolis on sporting events. It would be very hard to make money on the Hawks ands Falcons here.

Something was odd for sure. I started online at 10 for the presale, got none in Atl immediately, kept trying, at 10:20 clicked stubhub.com and there were several already listed for sale! No way they were that fast! I could not get them for Atlanta but did get them for Charlotte. I don’t blame Cyrus or Disney; this is the ticket guys beating the system and Ticketmaster at fault.

The Arena at Gwinnett has a hand in all of this shady dealing as well. Contractually, they knew the amount of tickets to be made publically available, and still agreed to be a part of this sham.

I think it is sad when there were virtually no tickets available. My wife and her friend were both online at 10am and were shut-out. Somebody is making out like a bandit on this, and it is not the star, or the fans. Even more ridiculus is that is Hannah Montana, it not like this is a concert with U2, or the Beatles, or something! Very Sad…on many levels.

I don’t think it is just this concert alone. I had the same thing happen to me for The Wiggles. The Freaking Wiggles. I mean come on. Its not only ticketmaster. When UGA released seats for the season opener, I was online at exactly 8am, when they were to be released and they were gone. Josh Groban, I was on the pre-sale and got the crappiest seats in the whole arena…in the PRE-SALE!!!! I think the whole entire ticketing system is messed up and the government needs to step in and regulate it to prevent these scalpers from buying up all the tickets. It’s rediculous!!!

My daughter is out of the Hannah Montana stage, however I remember getting Barney tickets the first time he came several years ago and people were going bananas over those tickets. people who are stupid enough to buy these tickets deserve to pay more than they are selling for on ebay. Also, if you are a parent (who else would waste their money on these tickets?) and you are such a weakling pushover spineless that you would actually cave in like a failure of a parent and a gutless moron, then you should be charged an idiot-fee as a surcharge on top of the scam prices. My 5-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter love Hannah Montana, but even at $40 or $50 a ticket, having to buy two or three tickets, it was too expensive, having a tight budget and a family of five, for me to take even one of them to a concert. Kids do not know the value of money and paying the hundreds and thousands of dollars for a concert ticket is not a good way to teach them the value of money.

I found it quite interesting that the tickets were on sale on the scalper websites prior to the presale date and the actual ‘public’ sale date. I actually contacted them and I was told they had the tickets in hand!

While I would be willing to pay the face price of the tickets, I won’t pay the asking price for the scalper tickets.

I’ll just take the girls to Limited Too and treat them that way… at least they have something to show for it!

An obvious scam by Ticketmaster.

My child is a 5 year old girl that watches Hannah Montana on a daily basis, has all her movies and cd’s. I paid $50.00 to buy per sale tickets and was not abel to get them on Sept. 10th. So I was online at 9:15am on 9/15 to buy tickets. My sister went to Publix at 9:00am and was 1st in line. My mother was on the phone trying. needless to say no luck on getting tickets. You can go online and pay $175.00 to $3000.00 for tickets. It is very sad that money hungry people would do this to children.

You people are all so naive. I am a ticket BROKER, yes we broker transactions , not scalp tickets. First of all there is no conspiracy- merely opportunistic people like me all over the country who buy these over the internet and putting them on ebay. It is about supply and demand nothing more nothing less. Just because the concert is for children is meaningless to me and all other broker friends I have. Why is a child any different than an adult is passionate about his/her sports team? If you don’t like it don’t buy them. But, I will be making 100% markup on my tix at least. Also: we brokers like anti-scalping laws as it keeps your everyday broker wannabe out of the biz. ANYTIME you make something illegal the price goes up. See the b.s. war on drugs.

It’s clear that demand exceeded supply. Look at everyone who was online at 10 a.m. Common sense shows that a majority of you will be shut out of tickets.

Gwinnett is not that big and Disney is going to hold tickets for their sponsors/staff first. Most likely, all of those tickets will be snatched up too because their little ones will want tickets too.

Seems to me, Hannah should have booked the GA Dome instead…I guarantee tickets would be available at least until 11 a.m.

Ok… while I sympathize with all the little girls who will be distraught for years to come over this, I have to say, we got our tickets last Tuesday and it really wasn’t that hard. We actually got two seperate sets to come up. Parents who didn’t do their research on this and waited till Saturday to get tickets can’t blame anyone but themselves. Tickets selling out quickly is not a new thing, whether you had to stand in line back in the 80’s for hours or now you log on ticketmaster.com, there are only a limited number of seats and there’s nothing Ticketmaster can do to change that. PS- I never got to see New Kids on the Block as a child and I turned out just fine.

I too had the same problem. Tickets are also sold out in TN and NC. Don’t even try. This isn’t just a GA problem. Craigs list has many brokers/scalpers ALL who want a minimum of $200.00 and up for tickets. WHEN parents REFUSE to pay the prices the ticket prices WILL go down! I did not become a member to have the privilege to purchase the ticket, that was the first clue. NOW, since I don’t have tickets and even if I DID have the money I would not go. My house is going to have a Hannah Montana party at my house, and if there are ANY smart parents at home who want to leave the brokers, scalpers, opportunitistic dough heads holding a bunch of wasted money in their hands I would suggest you do the same. Take your little darling to the salon, buy her a wig, a cd, and let her be Hannah Montana. Who in their right mind would pay a crook a grand to go to a concert? Teach your child there are crooks out there everywhere. I bet half these tickets aren’t legitimate anyway. Some actually say that tickets won’t be delivered until October! Won’t that be a riot when mommy pulls her Mercedes SUV up to the concert with little precious who lives to taunt YOUR CHILD only to find out her tickets are counterfeit. As for the membership debacle. Log a complaint with the BBB for your money back. It’s free and they will get to the root of the problem.

I WATCH THE SHOW WITH MY DAUGHTER, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS A NEW EPISODE OR EVEN WHEN HER DAD WAS ON DANCING WITH THE STARS JUST TO TRY AND SEE HER. WE HAVE BOUGHT JUST ABOUT EVERY PRODUCT THERE IS OUT THERE OF HERS. WE HAVE BEEN FANS FOR WELL OVER A YEAR NOW. WE JOINED THE FAN CLUB BEFORE IT EVEN WAS UP AND RUNNING. I WOULD PAY THE OUTRAGEOUS PRICES ON EBAY OR ANY OTHER SITE IF I COULD AFFORD IT, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I AM NOT THAT PRIVELEDGED. SHE IS A GREAT ROLE MODEL AND I HOPE SHE STAYS THAT WAY AND CONTINUES TO DO AS WELL AS SHE IS NOW. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM TOO GETTING TICKETS. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THEM AND I TRIED ON THE 11TH, 12TH AND 15TH, NOTHING. WE WENT LAST YEAR AND IT WAS NOTHING LIKE THIS. IT REALLY IS A SHAME THAT THESE ARE UP FOR SALE AT JACKED UP PRICES AND TRUE FANS ARE LEFT OUT IN THE COLD!!

My problem is with Ticketmaster and their advertising ticket sales and not delivering on that.

OOOPS…. I did hear of 1 person getting two tickets… so I guess they delivered.

Shows in the Atlanta market generally blow pricewise. Ticketmaster isn’t the only money grubbing pig because the promoters are also. I’ve seen tickets for shows and events here be almost twice as much as they are in Birmingham, Greenville, Spartanberg, Macon, August, etc. If you use a little creativity you can see the same show for much less elsewhere. If you’re really creative the trip becomes about more than just the show.

I like how Kenny Chesney does his concert tickets in Atlanta in past years (which also sell out quickly). If the demand is there, he adds another show. Obviously, this concert requires another show to accommodate the demand. And for those of you who down Ms. Cyrus, she a much better role model than Brittany Spears (who also previously worked with Disney in her youth), so back off.

People like you scare me. There are so many stupid people that think they somehow have a “right” to get tickets to the most popular event in America, held at a venue that maybe holds 12,000 people, in a city that carries 7 million people. And let’s not forget the state of GA has a population of approx 13 million. (And this is the only Hannah event in the state!)

I get so sick of reading the type of garbage I’ve just read above. This entitlement culture is very dangerous. Some of you people sound like you would literally trade your freedom if the government or somebody could get you some Hannah tickets. It’s really pathetic.

And by the way. I was online with a fanclub code at 10AM on Tuesday and landed 4 tickets. I got online again on Saturday and landed 2 more.

But look, if/when the Georgia Bulldogs go to a National Championship game, I am going to realize that I won’t have access to the Championship game tickets just because I live in this state or because I graduated from UGA. I know that there are people who have donated tons of money to that school who will get all the tickets. And they should.

But I will be more than happy to pay the price to buy some tickets from them.

If you want to see Hannah Montana so badly. Either pay the price, or go to North Carolina where the prices are a little less, or learn to type faster!

But please, whatever you decide to do, stop the entitlement rhetoric. It makes our state look like a bunch of idiots who would abandon the economic freedom that capitalism provides…just so we could see 2 hours of entertainment.

First off does anyone have good contact information for Mileyworld? Secondly, I don’t have a problem with ticket brokers/ scalpers other then they are scum. My problem is HOW DO THE BROKERS GET TICKETS BEFORE THE GENRAL PUBLIC. I think we all should have equal and fair access.

Will,

Wow! I never would have expected the most intelligent post on this blog to have come from a UGA grad! Good job! (I’m just kidding..don’t starting bombarding me the UGA comments now!)I agree that people need to realize that the demand is way larger than the supply for this concert and not everyone will get tickets! I, however, was online Tuesday with my presale code and got my tickets as well. Yeah for us!

David W, you are exactly the type of idiot I was talking about.

How are ticket brokers scum? You can’t type fast enough to get tickets, or you didn’t want to waste your Saturday morning in front of a computer buying tickets.

Problem solved, there are people who provide that service for you for a fee.

I love the fact that there are sites like Ebay and Stub Hub. I can look at the inventory and choose exactly where I want to sit in the stadium, if I am willing to pay the price.

I buy almost every ticket to every show I attend from the secondary market.

As for your question about how the brokers get tickets before the public. The answer is they don’t. They anticipate that they will be able to get tickets, and they set a price.

If you buy a ticket for some high price, before it goes on sale, they will make sure that they find a way to procure the tickets you bought from them.

It all works just like the stock market or any other type of free market.

Sorry for calling you an idiot earlier. But I just hate when people say that capitalists are scum.

I think, Ticketmaster has to do it this way. Show a seating chart of the VENUE. You open up the site, click on the ACTUAL seats you want to purchase!. That way you can SEE what is sold and what is available!! AT THAT EXACT INSTANCE!

if enough of us WRITE TO THEM AND say this is the way it has to be or we wont buy tickets!…they might think about it. And if they say its cost, then where does my 10.00 CONVENIENCE CHARGE GO, its all computers isnt it?

Ah the joy of teaching my daughter the wonders of real music as opposed to this plastic pre-wrapped drivel that the Disney company sells. Any parent who wants to see this show as much as their child needs counseling. I got 11th row seats for Styx, Foreigner and Def Leppard, a sold out show, on-line, without issue. Real music, real musicians, no plastic and no screaming children. My daughter really enjoyed the show too! Remember, Disny brought the world Britney Spears and many other no-talent, processed tarts.

Why is there a need for a “broker” to buy tickets from when they are already on sale in various ways?

You can call yourself a broker if you please, but when you buy all the tickets at the same price as everyone could have bought them, raise the price and then try to sell them that is called scalping.

I am not saying someone shouldn’t try to make a buck on hot ticket items, but please, call a spade a spade.

We did get tickets the old fashion way…we went to the box office (granted, it was 2 hours before they went on sale)and had no problem purchasing tickets. I remember having to stand in line at ticket outlets (Turtles in Atlanta) to purchase tickets for concerts as a teenager. Some shows sold out faster than others but that’s how the process works.

There was a pre-sale on 9/11, for memebers of the Hannah/Miley fanclub. Tickets for the pre-sale were sold out in 8 minutes, due to ticket brokers and their computer programs. I was lucky enough to purchase 4 at regular price, during the pre-sale. I had to pay $200 for 1 additional ticket so that my spouse and I could accompany our 3 daughters. THERE WERE NO TICKETS left when the regular sale began on 9/15. The problem wasn’t Ticketmaster or Disney, it is the ticket brokers that are reselling tickets online within minutes of their purchase.

I have an 11 year old who loves Hannah, we can afford to go, but there is no way I’d take her to see what will surely be a trainwreck. Loud, obnoxious children and parents who, in a years time, will have found someone els they HAVE to go see. Hillary Duff ring a bell? Save your money and take your kid to do something worthwhile…museums, the symphony or the Christmas lights at Callaway Gardens in a few months. And why do you parents of 5 year olds want their kids to grow up so fast. They should be interested in the things kids their age do, not kids who are in middle school or, as Hannah is now, high school.

For those poeple complaining about parents wanting to buy their children tickets to Hannah Montana and how stupid we are, you’re idiots. Go complain about something else. We can take our kids to see whatever we want. If you don’t like Hannah Montana, what are doing searching comments like this? Loser! As for the Miley fan club, I don’t think it is their fault, it is Ticketmaster! I called ticketmaster after the presale incident and they told me they may have only had a few thousand seats for that anyway. The root problem to all of this is Ticketmaster! They are the crooks and they have a monopoly on tickets.

I’m so grateful that several bloggers have mentioned “values” and the insanity of paying scalper prices for tickets to Hannah Montana’s “public” show. What a joke. When I explained to my 8 year old granddaughter that we could not even GET a ticket to the Nashville show on a Friday night in November, but that I had also looked online for the local run to be held on a Wednesday evening in Gwinnett, she paused just a second and said, “Mamaw, Wednesday night is Bible study night, and I don’t want to miss. You know we have to put God first. I choose church.” Those were her exact words! I was so proud of her. So, we miss Hannah Montanta. I’ll find another entertainment to celebrate her birthday in November and take her to something real nice as a reward for her maturity. Maybe we can get tickets to The Nutcracker Suite ballet or something else she will enjoy. What a terrific kid!

How is it Tickemaster’s fault that they “only had a few thousand tickets?” Ticketmaster does not set availabilty nor do they set prices. The folks producing the Hannah show tell Ticketmaster how many tickets they can sell and in what intervals.

What you parents are competing with are brokers who know exactly how to work the system. While you have your mouse ready to go at 10 a.m., you are competing against several HUNDRED professionals who know how to work the system as well as several THOUSAND parents all trying to get tickets. Common sense will tell you that there will be much more losers than winners.

I am sick and tired of the brokers and other “pimps” who buy-up all the tickets, leaving most folks (like me)to either pony-up several hundred dollars for just one ticket in a suckie location or disappoint our kids who have had their hopes-up to see their favorite singers. This is awful and something needs to be done to stop this legalized scalping.

Whether it is a waste of time and money is a matter of what your children’s happiness means to you. I have two daughters (9 & 7) who were dying to go and we were at the ready both online and at Publix and were told they were sold out in two minutes. My children were upset because they were really given no chance to go. Why are the tickets sold to scalpers to begin with? Why does a ticket agency need to be involved at all? I would happily have paid $100 each for my girls to see their favorite star.

Well, I’m can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said. I have an 11-year-old that was looking forward to going to this show. I’m an avid concert-goer myself, and regularly see The Eagles, Jimmy Buffet, The Rolling Stones, and, yes, Rone, Def Leppard every time they are in Atlanta and have NEVER exerienced a sell out like this one. I too had the pre-sale passcode and got nothing at 10:00 AM on Tuesday. I also got nothing at 10:00 AM on Saturday. Maybe I just need to learn to type faster. Personally, I do take issue with the brokers getting what appears to be most all of the seats. If it’s a private event with tickets going to the highest bidder then advertise it as that. That’s what one radio station did with the Hanson Brothers about 10 years ago. But, don’t advertise as a General Public sale and waste my time. As far as those who are actually paying the $1200 to $2000 prices for 3 - 4 tickets, more power to you. I can however say that even my 11-year-old Hannah fan would rather spend 3 nights and 4 days at Atlantis in the Bahamas for that same $2000. For those of you going, enjoy, because you probably paid a hefty price and deserve one heck of a show show.

Fortunately, I have three tickets from a client with a suite for the season. Unfortunately, it seems that scalpers/brokers have more than their fair share of the tickets for sale.

Fact of the matter is that Gwinnett Arena holds about 12,000 people so reduce that number of tickets by the season event ticket holders, radio stations, promotions, etc. and there were a lot less tickets for sale to the general public.

Also consider that the Gwinnett Arena is in a suburban area with 175,000 students enrolled in its public school system. Even if tickets were limited to kids in the local public school system, that would be about 5 tickets per 100 students - Vegas has better odds than that!

This happens all of the time and not just with concert tickets. I’ve been online at the time when tickets are suppose to go sale, only to get “Sold Out” or the only seats available are in a far away section. I’ve been wondering how does this happen? Unfortunately, I’m not in “the know” so I don’t know anyone to contact to get special tickets, etc. I’m just a regular person who makes a decent living. This has got to stop and we should get a petition together and boycott Ticketmaster until they stop selling tickets to the brokers. Somehow the Brokers are buying all of the tickets to all of the events and selling them at outrageous prices.

Why are all you men in on this? This is a concert for 9 to 14 year olds. She is a good role model & I allow my 12 yr old to watch & listen to her anytime. Seems to me the only comments here should be from those who wanted to go to this concert and not all you perverts out there who have nothing better to do than post about something you should not have any knowledge of. You should be saying “Hannah who?”

Rather than calling eich other names, perhaps we can agree there is a system that is flawed, if nor broken, from the average consumer’s perspective. Be is a dippy kid singer wannabe, or a respected rock act, ticket sales is not geared to the consumer, but rather the speculator. If artists (or promoters) want to seem consumer friendly, they will need to stay one step ahead of the scalper (broker). Calling onesself a broker does not change the underlying behaviour, which is not to profit on volitilty, but higher terminal price for the end-user. And inasmuch as I think spoiiing children is dreadful, what is worse are posters who feel the need to insult them.

I was just talking about this debacle with a co-worker because this happens too often. He stated that at one time Pearl Jam (for those of you who remember this group) stopped touring because of ticketmaster’s outrageous fees that they add on to the ticket prices. Again, hit them as well as the Brokers and Artists in the pockets. Artists make most of their money on touring. Hit’em where it hurts….in their wallets. That’s what Clark Howard always say.

Well, someone MUST be wanting to see this show if the tickets are sold out and prices are sky high. My daughter loves Miley Cyrus just like I used to love David Cassidy and other pop stars when I was young. I think we all went through that sort of thing. It’s the parents who are causing the chaos. Of course, my daughter would love to see the show, but she also understands that I am not going to pay the cost of a ticket for Hannah Montana. Laugh it off, people!

I was waiting online at 9:55am Saturday morning. AT 10:00am sharp I clicked on FIND TICKETS and at 10:04am I was told that there were no tickets available. By Clueless Parents

September 17, 2007 3:11 PM | Link to this

Gosh, you parents are so clueless. Do the math, really. If Gwinnett really does hold only 12,000 seats and there is a 4 ticket limit, then on it’s best day, really only 3,000 tickets were even available for sale. Now, think about how many seats are probably being held until Disney partners decide if they are going to use them or not. Now factor in the presale tickets… I bet you that there were probably only a 1,000 tickets or less when tickets went on sale for the general public. It is VERY possible that the show could have sold out in 2 or 3 minutes for the folks who clicked the fastest.

Again, how is this TICKETMASTERS fault that the Hannah people chose one of the smallest venues in the metro area to stage her concert. Your anger is completely misdirected. Get a clue parents.

I was at the Box Office and in line. At 10:08 I was told only single seats remained… No one without connections ever gets decent seats regardless of place in lines… my daughters friends father used connections to get premium seats a week before they even went on sale. It’s a rigged process.

My daughters won’t see it now unless I’m willing to be price gouged or go thru the same BS process again if they add another show.

There are several folks involved in this racquet. Disney for requiring people to pay $30 to sign up for her fan club in order to get the “privledge” of trying to get tickets on the pre-sale. I did this and did not get tickets. I know of several other people that I know paid the $30 as well. How much did Disney make off the fan club memberships?

Before the pre-sale, the brokers already had tickets for sale. The brokers do not pay the same amount that we do. They pay a premium price for their tickets and do not make as much as you think in profit, so lets not throw them under the bus.

I also tried on Sat and had several other people trying for me as well. No luck. I also know of many people who stood in line and were 3rd or 4th in line and the tickets were gone right at 10. I can assure you that the brokers did not have all the tickets. But the question still needs to be answered as to where they all went. Not many appeared to be available in the pre-sale or the regular sale due to the number of people that did not get tickets and the number of people that were trying.

I think TicketMaster is the most to blame for the ticket fiasco and Disney is to blame for the pre-sale gimmick.

My question is this.. if she is this popular, why not have her in a venue that can handle the demand. Phillips would have been good or even better, if the girl can sell out the dome, then have it there.

I paid the $30 to be in her fan club over 2 months ago anticipating getting the opportunity to pre-sale tickets. Last Tuesday when they went on sale, I was hitting reload every 2 seconds until Ticketmaster opened up the buying - for the first 5 minutes all I could get was 1 ticket but after that I couldn’t even get 1. I had someone else trying at 10am on Saturday morning and she said at 10:02 when she hit search she couldn’t even get 1 ticket. first lesson for ANY parent trying to get tickets or schedule an everybody knows public event, either don’t tell the kids or explain that life sucks, many times I camped out for tickets just to miss out for some stupid reason. FYI the T-shirts and junk are sold in stands outside the venue at most places so you may still be able to pick up a t-shirt or poster

By jungleland

September 17, 2007 4:20 PM | Link to this

The venue, the promoter and the presale only get a small number of tickets…really 90%+ are sold to the general public. Yeah, sure plenty get picked up by scalpers, real ones and people who buy 4 extra and put them on e-bay…

The reason the tickets sell out is becuase Atlanta is a HUGE market and there are a zillion computers with DSL who are all logging on at the same time.

I miss the old days when you waited in line at Rich’s or Turtles at 3:00 AM to get into the lottery at 7:00 AM

Major cities have always had this problem. Try getting tickets for ANYTHING in New York City or LA.

The solution to this is actually to RAISE the ticket prices to $300 and it will weed out some of the fans. The other choice it to play the same city for 3 night, which most acts can’t fit into thier tour.

I was one of the few people who were able to get tickets at the ticket price. I think it is ridiculous that the tickets were sold out so fast - when I was younger, ticket scalpers were arrested because that practice was illegal! If we were not able to get the tickets, my daughter would have had to live with that. I would never pay hundreds of dollars for a concert!

By Darlene

September 17, 2007 4:33 PM | Link to this

No I will not pay the price the scalpers want. Its a shame that these people take advantage of these tickets. It is the responsibility of the artist to have enough tickets available for the public. These people are no better than street scalpers. I went on line and the cheapest ticket was 188 dollars each and I need 4. This was in the top section the floor was over 600 dollars each. My grand daughter is 6 and she loves Hannah Montana but I am not a rich woman and I had to tell her that she would not be seeing Hannah Montana. I was able to take her to see the Cheeta Girls and the tickets were higher but affordable. For 188 dollars, Hannah would have to come out speak to her and give her a t-shirt. I spent over 150 dollars at the cheetah girls concert. By the time you buy a ticket, get a program and a t-shirt, you are broke.I think Hannah should take pity on children who comes from families that just doesn’t have that kind of money to spend. We are her fans as well and its not fair to these children. My grand daughter knows every word and step to Hannah’s songs and dances. She deserves a chance to go see someone she idolizes. Thanks for letting me voice my opinion on the behalf of my 6 year old grand daughter.

To all the spoiled brats and their children… tough. Every show worth seeing in Atlanta is sold out in two minutes. It’s the fault of ticketmaster and the brokers they let purchase tickets 1 hr before the public. Talk to your legisaltor and have them introduce new laws on ticket sales in Georgia. But having your kids pander for tickets,to the public on the news is sad. Maybe missing Hannah will be a good life lesson learned at an early age. You can’t always get what you want.

To all those folks that say “Too bad, Learn to type faster.” This was not a case of slow witted dullards waiting until the last minute and missing out. This was a case of no tickets being available at the very first moment of the sale as they were already sold to brokers and other insiders well before the official public sale. Please note there are a lot of posters who say they were there on the dot for the PRE SALE and still were locked out.

I wish they would get their moms to bring them some more milk and cookies to the basement while they continue on with their internet search.

There are also several posters saying they got tickets easily on Tuesday. What don’t you people understand about this? To the broker who posted and called it free enterprise- shame on you! To every parent out there that tried to buy tickets, I suggest you write your congressman and push for legislation that makes it illegal in the state of GA to sell a ticket above the ticket price. It is illegal in Oklahoma City. Other parts of the country have done this as well to keep this from happening. For all you people posting comments that parents should have done your research, most of us did. I also tried to buy tickets at every venue across the U.S. just to see what was happening. It’s amazing that Charlotte, Memphis, Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Nashville, Greensboro all sold out within seconds of the selling time even for the pre-sale. Please someone tell me that is not a SCAM!!! Brokers - when you abuse the system, the system will change. PUSH FOR LEGISLATION, PARENTS, THAT IS THE ONLY WAY YOU ARE GOING TO CHANGE IT!!! PUSH FOR IT TO BE ILLEGAL TO SELL ABOVE THE TICKET PRICE!!!!

Hey Overkill,

We know that these parents were online the second they went on sale. I guarantee you the show is not sold out yet. The promoters are holding tickets until they take care of their folks first, and if there are any extras they will be released…this could happen even during the day of the show!

TICKETMASTER DOES NOT SELL DIRECTLY TO THE BROKERS. Brokers know what shows will be hot sellers and can pay people to sit by the computer or stand in line to get the best tickets. Please arm yourself with REAL knowledge for next time.

Going to the box office is your best bet. Your wife was 57th in line. If you go thru the internet or outlet, in reality you could be 10,000th in line (or worse).

Folks, stop fooling yourself in thinking that just because you are at your computer at 10 a.m. you’re first in line. Remember the Gwinnett show is not only sold in GA. You are competing with parents and brokers all over the COUNTRY.

I belong to a rock band fanclub and many of the members there bash ticketmaster for the same reasons many of you have. I am one of the few that tries to tell them that when demand exceeds supply, the price rises and if you don’t want to pay those prices then don’t. None of us has an entitlement to concert tickets. No one NEEDS to see HM. I want a Ferrari, but they won’t sell me one for much less than $200k. Oh the horror!

For those of you that think Ticketmaster holds back tickets for brokers, here’s a story for you. I bought tickets to Derek Trucks at the Fox for New Year’s eve Sat. Got front row center in the pit. I was shocked as I always suspected at least some would be held back for insiders. If any tix would be held back, it would have been mine. So put the blame where it belongs, on all the kids that must have HM tix, and the parents who accomodate them.

The thing that actually bothers me the most is that parents are actually ok with their small children watching and wanting to see someone who’s demographic is high-school aged (and deals with issues for kids in that age group) and not preschool-aged to middle school. Sorry, I would NEVER let my child who is elementary school watch a show that is based in high-school - completely NOT approprate! Just as I am ashamed that there are parents who let their young children watch the Teen Choice Awards - the beinging of the show was FILLED with sexual “hints”… and it was just making fun of the “hit” High School Musical - which I have seen their products bought by parents for their small children who are FAR from being in high school and shouldn’t be shown what was playing on the Teen Choice Awards. No wonder our kids are sexually active earlier and earlier - PARENTS LET THEIR KIDS watch and be subjected to stuff W-A-Y too early and just act like it is “normal” and don’t say a thing. The good parents are the ones who make sure their children are around age-approprate things…

People, This is nothing new. 30 years ago I would get up (or stay up) at 2am to be first in line at Rich’s to get Stones, Aerosmith, Genesis tickets. Would wait 10 hours on the cold, hard sidewalk to be first in line, at the window at 10:00:00, and end up with third level, top row, stadium seats. If I was lucky. (of course, being baked made this ordeal alot easier!) This is supply and demand economics…nothing else, nothing new. Although, it is fairly amazing (to me) that Hannah Montana is getting this much attention…, but whatever the market will bear is what the tickets are worth.

Well I got my kicks out of reading all these ridiculous comments. Everyone wants to blame the brokers. Brokers are scum and so forth

How come the broker is your best friend the day or two before a show when you can buy $150 tickets for $25-$50 because the broker will take anything he can get then? But when he tries to make something he’s the scum of the earth?

I have bought many great concert tickets a few days before shows. First 5 rows on the floor for 25%-50% of face value 1-3 days before the shows.

I know a guy that bitches when he has to pay $10 over the face value for some Miami Heat tickets from a broker. He buys tickets to the Heat all the time. Usually buys $17 upper level tickets for $5. Every once in awhile he has to pay $20-$25 for these same tickets and gripes about it.

Over all he’s the one that’s made out like a bandit.

I love brokers. You can get great seats at great prices, if you just wait them out. Hannah tickets are not worth what people are asking. they are ONLY worth what people are willing to pay.

Think about it.

To all you people that say make scalping illegal again, a little economic theory here, that will not stop it, it will only push the price higher. Are illegal drugs not available?

Any of you ladies have those expensive purses? Say you paid retail $500. Now, what if the maker decided to sell them for $250 and demand drove their price to $500 in the aftermarket. You still got your same bag for $500, so where’s the harm? I’m sure Disney would love to sell Hannah tix for high prices and reap the profit. But that might alienate the more valuable TV viewers so they are selling their Hannah purse for $250, and the market takes over. Every other good or service is governed by supply and demand, why not something as unnecessary to survival as a concert ticket?

PS, many good tix remain for Bob Dylan on Sat at Gwinnett Arena. He’ll be remembered long after Miss Cyrus.

I paid the $30.00 membership for the “luxury” of presale tickets to Hannah Montana. However, like most folks at 10:01 a.m. there were no tickets available. For those FEW that were able to snag tickets, GOODIE for YOU. I again got online at 10:00 Saturday morning and at 10:01, right on cue, NO TICKETS AVAILABLE. I called and got through to Ticketmaster where I acquired 4 tickets…However, alas, I was disconnected and unable to complete my transaction. Disconnected??? or did Ticketmaster realize I was not one of their Partners and purposefully “end the call.” Whatever the case, it is clearly a scam and only the corporations, ebay scalpers etc… are laughing their way to the BANK….SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!!!!!

i am one of the fortunate, lucky ones who got tickets….. in the nose bleed section at the full price of a first row cost. There are others, who have way more money than me who didn’t get theirs. This is just cruel. Cruel to all the little girls whose hearts are broken because they can’t go. I want to know why? Why scum can do this to kids and the hard working parents who support the “stars”, making them wealthier than we will obviously ever be. I’m just so glad my daughter gets to go…even though i had to explain why she has to sit in the nose bleed section for hannah montana and not on the floor like she did for the cheetah girls…..btw… showed her the scalpers price of $9350 per ticket for a floor seat. I sure hope i’m not alone in feeling like i do!

NOT THAT IT WILL DO MUCH, BUT I’LL AT LEAST HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO HOPEFULLY END THIS TRAVESITY FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. I THINK TICKETMASTER SHOULD PAY EACH AND EVERY PERSON WHO DID NOT GET A TICKET… THAT WOULD SERVE YOU ALL RIGHT!!!!!

I’m a very upset parent! This isn’t right for tickets brokers to be doing our kids this way. This is a kids concert and some people can be so greedy. I have 2 very upset lil hannah fans that has been saving their money to get to go to this concert. I’ve signed up for mileyworld thinkin I could get them tickets doing the presale (didn’t get anything) they were gone in less then 2 mins. Then tried when they went on sale Sat. at 10am it won’t even show up 1 ticket. There is some very upset HANNAH MONTANA/ MILEY CYRUS fans and parents. If there is anyone out there that thinks the tickets sale wasn’t right…. plz go read and sign this and past this ago: http://www.petitiononline.com/HannahM/petition.html … PS. This lady on mileyworld came up with this petition I think everyone needs to go READ SOME OF THE FANS POSTS and sign it

To those who bought the fan club codes: I hate to tell ya this, but you shouldn’t have given up. I got the same “none available” message. But after several tries, tickets freed themselves up. Maybe people timed out when ordering and I got lucky… maybe you could’ve, too.

If the ticket brokers and corporations want to buy these tickets, they should have to wait like everyone else until the sale date and then only be able to receive 4 tickets like everyone else. It’s a shame that it’s the kids who have to feel disappointed about this when Hannah Montana’s show is geared towards them. This was handled poorly, not only in Atlanta but in other cities.

I have a 7 year old daughter who LOVES Hannah Montana and is a subscriber to Miley Cyrus’s fan website. We were told that members of the site could access tickets 4 days before they went on sale to the public (9/11/07) if we provided the code given to us on the website. We followed these instructions and were told the tickets were unavailable, and to try the following day. Clearly, if the tickets were sold out to scalpers BEFORE they even went on sale to the public, there is FOUL PLAY involved.

I hope somebody takes this up as a matter of investigative journalism and brings public attention to this great disservice, malfeasance, and unconscionable disinterest in the public good.

I had the same problem with trying to get tickets for Spam-a-lot at the fox earlier this year. I wound up paying $100 for a $50 ticket. The only reason I paid it was because it was my birthday present to myself. Ticketmaster should be charged for ticket scalping. They are just as bad as the scalpers who stand outside and scalp the tickets.

My daughter likes Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers. I tried to get tickets by joining her club and then on Saturday. The club tickets were gone at 10 and the other tickets were sold out. However, if I want to spend in upwards of $1000 or more I can get 4 tickets on eBay. She should come to bigger venues and something needs to be done about ticket scalpers. The messages of Hannah Montana are very good and pertinent for my 9 year old and she wanted to go to her concert. However, I am not paying the money these tickets are going for now. It’s ridiculous.

Simple solution. Cut out the demand. Don’t buy from a broker. Stick them with these tickets and see how fast they catch on. The only reason they’re in the business is because there are idiots out there that will pay their prices.

Next, we’ll be hearing that the tickets people bought from brokers were counterfeit. Then what?

There are 61 people on this blog alone that tried (some failed & some succeeded) to get tickets. If the guy whose wife went to the Arena was 57th in line, that means 56 people got up to 4 tickets before her. That’s 224 tickets right there and it didn’t sound like she was the last to get any. Huh… that is so weird that not everyone in GA and surrounding area was able to get tickets to a 12,000 seat event. I think maybe we should sue…

I am very disappointed that to see a good show you have to mortgage your house and car. My daughter and I love H. Montanna and were looking forward to her show. How could Disney allow this to happen? Is there no place safe from greedy people who like to profit from the wishes of little girls who just want to see a decent show!!! Disney NEEDS to add another show and do it right this time around.

Or are you going to behave like your child doesn’t need coping skills because he/she should be able to have whatever they want. There was not a need to purchase the fan club membership for $30. The Hannah Montana II CD had a 30 day free trial. My daughter wanted he CD anyway. Although, we are not exactly enjoying it. Also it’s not Hannah Montana, but the Georgia Fair has Jonas Brothers/Everlife tickets on sale for $15 in Perry.

Before the tickets even went on the pre-sale, the brokers were advertising specific seats on their websites. It has been reported that the brokers hold just over $1,400 tickets to this show. That leaves about 8,000 left for the general public.

With 8,000 tickets, and even assuming the demand is great, more people would have gotten tickets in the pre-sale and the regular sale. So the question still remains, what happened to all the tickets. Certainly 8,000 tickets were not made available to the general public either by pre-sale or reg sale.

I think we all agree that a better system needs to be in place to make it fair for the general public. Again, there is no way that 8,000 tickets were made available due to the number of people that tried and failed to get tickets.

It’s absolutely ridiculous. I went to Ticketmaster @ 7 a.m., only to find out that they were doing a lottery process…meaning your place in line depended on the number you drew. Crazy, huh? Well, I didn’t want to risk it and tried it online at home. I figured I would get through if I waited for 10, but tickets were sold out even before the clock said 10:01. I refuse to pay $1000’s of $$, but I’m furious that my daughter is disappointed due to greedy, money hungry people!!!

I don’t think this scam was unique to Georgia. Apparently this sell-out is the story in every city. I started reading the blogs after not being able to but tickets at 10:00 like everybody else. I have a friend that went to Publix and the first person in line got 4 tickets and then they were sold out. I tried to get tickets in Charlotte and had the same experience. I wish no one would but the tickets from the scalpers and the arena would be empty…no one to buy the concessions or the Hannah Montana “stuff”!

I think SCAM is right. I noticed a BIG RED FLAG that would probably go undetected by most people. I was logged into ticketmaster, trying to purchase Hannah tickets and as I watched the time progress, telling me I had a one minute wait to locate tickets, I noticed AN ERROR IN THE CONTEXT OF HOW A WORD WAS USED AND SPELLED! Ticketmaster gives you a legit message that says something like this: Please wait while we locate tickets available. We’ll let you know if * WE’RE * able to locate tickets. OK, the problem came when I noticed the following error, which is slightly different from the LEGIT message from ticketmaster: We’ll let you know if we * WE’RE * able to locate tickets. HUH? The word WERE doesn’t have a comma, but if you were trying to make a dummy page and you were not THAT intelligent, you could easily mix this up and make that mistake. I think I was hacked into and held BACK while I waited for my search for tix. This error shows me that it really happened. I was held off while BROKERS sucked up the tix. I’m positive of this and Disney should do more to discourage this, as well as Ticketmaster. I was told they have employees who buy them all up and get rich off assaulting parents who are trying to make dreams come true for birthdays, Christmas, etc.

What if huge numbers of tickets were UNSOLD by brokers at these HUGE prices? The seats would be EMPTY, wouldn’t they? So, a sold out show could actually end up with a ton of empty seats if nobody could afford the high prices, or REFUSED to PAY them? I guess Disney doesn’t care, they made face value for them all when the brokers bought them!

This is apparantly happening at all of her concert sights. I joined the Mileyworld website so that I could purchase tickets during the presale. I was at the computer the instant the sale was available and the phone also. No tickets were available by the time I got through. - Less than one minute past 10:00. I definantly think something is wrong. There is no way those tickets were sold to the public as stated. And NO I will not pay one cent over $67.00 for a ticket. She is just a person.

All you spoiled, SUV-driving, trophy-wife soccer moms should let your entitlement brats know that in 6 months, this “Hannah Montana”, whoever she is, will be last year’s news. I read nonsense like this & it’s not hard to figure out why the rest of the world hates us & why so many kids are committing violent crimes in their teens…because they’ve been brought up to believe whatever they want is theirs for the taking no matter who gets hurt. Gee, what’ll happen when your pweshus widdle Bratney ONLY comes out runner-up for the title of Homecoming Queen? Will she go on a shooting spree because she’s so “traumatized”? How unhealthy for 7-year olds to idolize a teenager whose “fame” has little to do with talent & more to do with showing off her looks & having a celeb for a dad. This is the dumbing down of America in all its glory, people! If the media tells you that you must like a particular “performer”, no matter how untalented, you rush like stupid lemmings to pour your money into their pockets. You whine about high ticket prices. Well, don’t buy the tickets! Spend the money on something you’ll actually HAVE or, for your child’s college education so they’ll have a chance of growing up not quite as moronic as you.

Those of you who refer to brokers & scalpers as “scum” are the biggest hypocrites. How many of you (or, should I say, your husbands, as I’m sure many of you princesses have never worked a day in your useless lives) are businesspersons? A BUSINESSPERSON is in BUSINESS to make a profit. That’s exactly what a ticket agent is. Nothing more, nothing less. If you refuse to pay their prices, they’ll go out of BUSINESS. Cause & effect, idiots! No one is exploiting you, you are exploiting yourselves. No one has an automatic RIGHT to see Hannah Banana or whatever her name is. You want to shell out $1,000 to see a tiny dot on stage put on what amounts to a glorified karaoke show (read: artificial celebrity) be my guest. That amount can feed a family of 4 IN THIS COUNTRY for 6 months! I know when I was a young girl living with my parents & I wanted to attend various concerts, my folks told me to pick up a babysitting job or two & earn the money myself. I didn’t LIKE it but I did learn to appreciate the value of money & in those days, a night of babysitting DID pay for a concert ticket, plus dinner out beforehand. Also, note that those of you who defend Ms. Banana are functionally illiterate & cannot even spell simple words. Role model? Don’t make me laugh! She’s a business-woman. A true role model is active in the fight against terrorism, animal abuse etc, & does worthwhile things like traveling to high schools & lecturing on safe driving & abstinence

5 friends and I all tried simultaneously to get tickets to the show. Not ONE of us got them, including the one standing 8th in line at a Ticketmaster location. In her case, only the first person in line got 3 tickets, and then they said they were sold out. I am no fool, and will not pay a penny more than a regular priced ticket. My daughter was disappointed, but so be it. Shame on you parents that think that your child can only be happy if you hand them everything they beg, cry, and would be willing to steal for. YOU are reason these ‘scalpers’ get away with doing what they are doing: YOU’RE WILLING TO FALL FOR IT! While they may be ticking off those of us who just wanted to enjoy a pre-teen concert with our children, they are staying in business because you let them rip you off, simply because you feel the need to buy off your own children. Shame on both sets. And, while there is nothing that can be done to improve your stupidity, it would be nice if the artists could stop this madness by not allowing Ticketmaster to be the monopoly in the concert ticket selling business.

I will not pay the mark up price. I took my daughter last year to see her with Aly and AJ and 4 other bands at the disney b-day bash for 20 bucks. I will have to let my girls know that I am sorry but unless I get last minute tickets from ticket master, which they soemtimes do release, we will not be going this year. I will not give my money to someone who is marking up the price from 150 -1500 a ticket. I did let the broker know that he lost my business. He is not an honest working person. I rather pay fees from ticket master than give these brokers my money. I think if many people chose not to buy from these guys we will be the ones sticking them with manyh tickets that they could have sold for a decent price. Fortunatly, my girls are not so spoiled where they won’t throw the fit or tantrum and i will not give in to spending so much moeny. we will instead spend a mother daugter day doing something else.

Instead of venting your frsutrations why not get a second job (me suspects, a FIRST one in many cases) and get the money to pay for these tickets. It’s called supply and demand people. How is your kid any different then a man who has followed his baseball team for 40 years to see them get to the world series and then not get tickets? At least those players clearly have talent unlike the latest Disney creation. I scored five tickets to HM and they are on ebay, craigslist, and stubhub. I am from a state where scalping is “illegal” and will still make a killing- why??? Because anytime you make something illegal prices go up!!!! This whole situation shows why this country is so screwed up.. learn mandarin people our future masters will appreciate it.

I was online at 10 a.m. Saturday ready to get tix for my 12 year old daughter. I put in best available and in approximately 1 minute a notice popped up saying there were no seats available. My husband, who happend to be near a ticketmaster outlet, went in at 10:15 a.m. and was told the tix sold out in 1 minute to 1 person. What a SCAM. Ticketmaster has it stated on the website that there is a 4 ticket per household limit. How can they let these ticket broker’s get away with this. The ticket prices are triple on the broker websites. There are hardworking middle class people out there who want to do fun things for their children and it is people like this who won’t allow it. People must be crazy to pay the broker prices. GA needs to establish a law like some of the other states to prohibit such actions. I think if people would boycott this concert, maybe it would send a message to Hannah’s managers and the rest of these people that we are not putting up with this. I feel really bad for all those little girls who were looking forward to the show. Instead, I got great seats to take her to High School Musical on Ice. I’m sure it will be just as entertaining and I didn’t have to blow my savings to take her.

Alot of people who have commented obviously don't like hannah montana. Ticket prices being jacked up happens all the time. Think about all of the rappers 5o cent or kanye west, they are just raking in the money. I personally enjoy hannah montana's music. It's not filled with cus words and it doesn't protray bad behaviors. Her music is fun and inspring. It's all about being who you want to be and that it's ok to just be you. Yah her tickets are expensive but what did you expect her tickets to be cheap? Face it the times are changing and so are the prices. Yes her prices may me high but shes a very inspiring young girl so good for her!

Yes, it happened in KY also and no I would not pay quadruple the price. Sad that no can or does not want to find a solution to this problem.

For all of you who are bitter about not getting tickets to Hannah Montana, the problem is not TicketMaster or the brokers. It is completly legal to resell tickets for a premium if you are located in another state. And for everyone who says only a fourth of the show was available for the public, get over yourself. Do you think Miley is going to sing for an entire venue and only collect 25% of the total potetial revenues? The fact is there is simply not enough supply and too much demand. If you want to see brokers stop getting tickets to these events, she would have to raise the price of the tickets to “fair market value.” And most of the brokers arent making any money of these tickets anyway. Why? Because the so called fans sell them to the brokers as such a steep premium it gives little room for markup. So why dont you all stop being haters and buy my 4 tickets row 7 for $4800. Contact me at HateMail007@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Gotta love all this hatred around here. And as Upperdeck007 stated, it IS legal to sell @ a premium if you don’t live in the state. I’m a student who can’t afford to pay my tuition. So what have I done lately? I’ve sold hannah montana tickets. Yes, that’s right. It’s simple supply & demand. I’m no professional. I just know some of the tricks of the trade. And if you’re crazy enough to spend $1400 on 4 NOSEBLEED seats, keep on doing it. You’re helping me graduate this year! ;) I’d just like to also say, I sell my tickets online. I start them ALL at 99 cents. So, I’m not the one marking up prices… It’s the parents doing whatever it takes so that their kids can go to a lip-synching 14 year old’s concert that are marking up the prices.

This ticket scalping thing has gotten out of hand. This is something that should have been outlawed like arena seating was after kids were trampled to death. I have 10 and 8 year old girls who love both Hannah Montana and the Jonus Brothers but when they realized what was going on with tickets, they even said “forget it mom, they’re not worth that much”.

Even with the presale code I was unable to get tickets to her concert in Worcester. I’m sure with the astronomical prices the scalpers are charging only those wealthy enough or willing to take out a personal loan will be able to see her. So many disappointed fans!!! So much for good wholesome entertainment!

Presale, schmesale! It is ALL a scam. Even a New York state resident couldn’t by in Mass for Worcester, but a Mass Res could buy for NY. Then if you go to ticketmaster (I prefer to call them something worse), they allow people to resell their tickets at ticketmaster’s site for hundreds more. That is the worst tragedy.

I live in NY and the presale started today at 10AM for the Hannah concert. I was waiting with my pre-sale code from the fan club and my credit card. Could not get 1 ticket. I am so disappointed with the fan-club and Ticketmaster. This show is for kids and I find it disturbing that it is so hard to get tickets. On stub-hub the tickets are being sold for over $1000. That is crazy. Why is this allowed? I was able to get tickets to see Hilary Duff and the Cheetah girls and never had any problems with the presale. I am very upset and extremely disappointed. What a waste of time and money it was to join miley-world!!!

I was one of the lucky few who got tickets at a local publix (ticketmaster). We have one of the best seats in the house. We are so close we could spit on her.

There in no amount of money that would make me want to sell.

The same freaking thing happened to me. I just wanted the tickets to see the Jonas Brothers who were touring with Hanna Montana. So I got that stupid pre-sale thing and payed 30 dollars for it! It didn’t do a stupid thing for me getting the tickets. I woke up the next morning, got online to buy them, and at 10:00am clicked send to get my tickets and it completly kicked me of the site! By the time I got back on it was sold out. Then I tried the next time for that sale to the general public, and at about 10:03, the tickets were completely sold out when i called ticketmaster. Thats is what I call ridiculous! I contacted Mileyworld.com (the place for the pre-sale) and got a refund. Then I found a concert for just The Jonas Brothers on October 14th at the Georgia State Fair and got tickets for that, and it cost me 22 dollars instead of 900 dollars(prices from scalpers).

Why would various media outlets continue to feed the crap to the public about ticketing for the “Hannah Montana” Tour? Ticketmaster is a fee based company and it’s in their best interest to distribute as many tickets as fast as they can to accumulate the fees to cover the costs of operations. Ticketmaster attaches a fee to all outlet, internet and phone sales.

Ticketmaster has the technology to give each market a head start on purchasing tickets as well as allowing tickets to be purchased within certain zip codes on the internet and the phone. Utilizing these practices would deliver a higher number of tickets within each local market. These practices were used to sell playoff tickets for the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears during the last NFL Playoff run. This would cost Ticketmaster money due to the fact that many more tickets would be available at the venue which doesn’t charge a fee nor pay a fee to Ticketmaster for ticket distribution.

Also who knows exactly how many tickets are available for the public sale? A number of tickets are reserved for the artist. In addition tickets are distributed to sponsors, the media as well as politicians and associates of the venues staff. For the high demand events this could cut public availability to less than 50% of capacity.

The Fan Club pre-sales are a joke! Who joins and has the technology to get the tickets before the real fans? Brokers and Speculators! The small percentage of tickets that are accumulated by resellers provides a convenient scapegoat for the primary sellers.

All one has to do is attend certain shows to see who’s there and you’ll see a lot of the people in the prime seating areas that didn’t stand in line or contact a broker to purchase a ticket.

Telling the truth would expose the secrecy that has existed for many years and make a lot of people upset.

It may even keep people away from the venues for events that aren’t high demand. The only way the public can vent is to let the venue and the well connected have the tickets for the all the shows. Don’t use the public to put the show in the black.

I just became a member of the fan club just to buy presale tickets and guess what? The show at the Prudential Center is already sold out! The presale started on Tuesday and here we are 2 days later and there are no tickets! They are supposed to go on sale on Saturday at 10am. No wonder there was that “no refundable” disclaimer on the website! Well my son and I won’t be attending then, because I just cannot afford scalper prices. Poor thing will be waiting for Santa to bring him the tickets and Santa will not be able to come through for him this year. How sad for my son and all the children who won’t be able to see Hannah. Oh well…

That’s what p** me off! Should have spent the money on Rick Springfield had I known!

I sware… these online scalpers… all they want to do is see little girls cry… I’m 15 yrs old but I’m really into Hannah Montana and I’m also into the Jonas Brothers who are opening for Hannah… my mom is thinking of starting a petition to stop online scalpers… if anyone knows of any that are already out there e-mail me at jbubbles410@aol.com or mail my myspace www.myspace.com/bubbles410 … i pretty much can’t even afford to use a crane machine… much less pay six hundred dollers per ticket to be all the way in the back! So if anyone knows of any petitions or anything that might stop online scalpers send me an e-mail and please let me know ( jbubbles410@aol.com ) ( www.myspace.com/bubbles410 ) ~Luv Much, Jessica:)

I’m not from the Atlanta area, but I feel your pain. I just tried buying HM concert tickets for an Atlantic City show. Tickets went on sale at 10 am this morning and I was right there ready. Interestingly enough, I could have bought tickets days ago from a broker. They had all kinds of tickets avaliable for a heavy price. At 9:58 this morning, I was still receiving a message that tickets were not yet on sale. Two minutes later I got in and they could not match my request for anything more than a single ticket. A few minutes later, I could not even buy that. I stumbled upon this site in frustration and after reading some of the positng from other parents felt some consolation. I can identify with many parents and was releieved to find my feelings of disappointment, frustration, anger and guilt were shared by many. It made me feel better about the situation. I’m glad I did not join that stupid fan club thinking I was going to outsmart the system. But I will continue to try….

There is a simple way to put a stop to all these low life scalpers for this venue or any other attraction. Require ticketmaster and the venue to print the last four numbers of the buyer’s SS and only let those tickets be used at the door with the valid SS card with them. If this formula was put in place no one would have to reveal their full SS number and market value of tickets would be plentiful and we could shut this scum of the earth scalper’s market down.

i am as disappointed about the whole ticket fiasco. we joined website to get early tickets….tried for 2 hours, got nothing. ticketmaster, got nothing. scalpers??? from 35 dollar tickets to 200?? no way! my daughters are ok with not going because they understand the priciple behind it. it was going to be a reasonable and fun experience turned into a night only for the rich/got nothing better to do with my money. hannah is not benefitting from the outrageous prices these re-sellers are asking. it would make it all worth it if all working parents, and those who can afford the tickets boycotted the concerts. leaving the scalpers with thousands of dollars of worthless tickets. we still love ya hannah, just can’t afford ya!!

I was number 2 in line at a ticketmaster outlet and I couldn’t get them. They told us they were sold out even before my watch said 10:01. These Brokers should be stopped and the presale for that matter. What happened to the old days where people stood out in line to get the tickets? I will not pay those broker prices.

The whole Miley Cyrus mileyworld.com website is a scam, along with the ticket sales. You can’t cancel your membership even if you try before the 30 day expiration. And there is NO HUMAN available for help. No more Miley Cyrus/Hanna Montana in this house. What a fraud!
