What would you do with $220 million?

Perhaps I’ll be the MegaMillions lottery winner tonight.

If so, it’s goodbye to the job and hello to sand, margaritas and a fine cabana boy.

What would you do with $220 million?

220 mill? Wow, that is a lot of money. I would buy a bunch of abortion clinics and shut them down. Then, I’d buy the ajc and fire cynthia tucker and the idiot editors of the ajc. I would then turn it in to a respectable newspaper like the WSJ. Next, I would invest it in American stock to p** off liberals. I would not quit my job but I might buy the company out and fire the top dogs that have brought this place a lot of misery. How about that?

Before I quietly ride off into the sunset I would: Pay off my debts, buy new cars for myself and hubby, add a lot of $$ to my aging mothers bank account to help her to be more comfortable, pay off my daughters student loans and set aside a trust for her, choose a charity or two, invest, help my very close friends, leave my job, remodel my house and travel, till I’m absolutely sick of traveling.

First of all, with cash option you will take less than $90M after taxes etc…Then you will be hounded by everyone who ever knew you, all the charitable organizations, people wanting loans, fund their business etc…You should take care of your family, donate to some worthy causes and MANAGE everything yourself. Because, as is evident in todays markets, if the financial services sector (Brokers, advisers) get hold of you - they will skim as much off the top as they can! Put it ALL in US treasuries - the interest is more than enough to do what you want, eat what you want and do it anyhwere in the world FOREVER - good luck :)

High a financial planner. Then establish scholarships at WVU, Maryland, UWisconsin, and Duke. Give $1m each to my elementary, middle and high school. Give $1 million each to five school across the nation where friends teach and $1 million to the Ron Clark Academy. Establish college funds for my two nephews, two cousins, and children of my best friends. Pay off the houses of my siblings with the stipulation that they donate at least 40 hours a year to volunteer/community outreach efforts. Find some start up businesses to invest in. Then I am off on a world tour. Australia, here I come!

I’d go in late to work. When the boss says “you’re late” I’d say “yeah??…and I’m going home early”. I go back to the last two jobs and offer my agents $50k a pc to quit on the spot. I’d do this just to PO the last two bosses that were total a**. I’d leave them hanging like they left a bunch of us hanging. From there, I’d payoff all of the bills. I’d then pull all of my close friends together and offer them money for bills-big bills. I would give the “this is it, don’t ask for more and don’t squander” speech. I know I’d help them in dire straights but only after compelling reasons. They shouldn’t need anything if they’re hanging with me. I’d give my parents the bulk of it though. They’ve earned it. Oh yeah, I’d buy a Ferrari. S/F!!!!!

First of all, I’d put the ticket in a VERY safe place! I’d change my phone number to unlisted and call my lawyer and have a trust set up to accept the winnings and throw them in Treasury bills, while I figured out what I wanted to do with it, the best way to deal with it, and time to find a financial advisor who won’t act like he, too, won the lottery.

I would not tell ANYONE about it — not my teenagers, friends or family — because it would set up expectations that I do not choose to deal with. But I would have a few satisfying indulgences: The daughter of a struggling friend of mine would suddenly find that she had a full college scholarship at the college of her choice, the children’s school would have an generous anonymous donation to their scholarship fund, and siblings would suddenly find that their mortages had been paid off by anonymous trust checks, with a little extra to take care of the taxes that would be incurred as “income”. I wouldn’t move — I love my house and neighborhood — but I would definitely re-do the kitchen and the master bath!

I’d probably get the bumper fixed on my car. :-) And I’d take flying lessons.

Other than that — hey, it’s just money, with a few extra zeros at the end.

Al, what ruined your country was this idea of diversity and a global economy. Mr. Bush and his guest worker program also killed your country. You’ve got people in this country working legally and sending the money they make back to their home land and you wonder why the economy is tanking? The money is being removed out of circulation by guest workers. They are here legally, but they plan has loopholes that is being exploited by corporations. The guest workers were only supposed to work if you could not find a qualified american. That is not happening. They are getting all the jobs while qualified americans get the boot. This has nothing to do with as I quout you “Mexicans or Thugs from Africa”. This is YOUR GOVERNMENT AT WORK

Now back to the subject of the lottery winnings. I would pay off debts of my family members and some dear friends. Notice I said pay off. I would give each single person $12,000 as a tax free gift in my family and each married couple in my family a tax free gift of $24,000. I would never give them anything more that the govt could tax, that’s why I would pay off things for them. I would also support my Girls Softball Association in a big way. No new cars, but if anyone needed a car, I would take them to the car auction where you can buy a decent car for $2,500 - $3,000. Finally, I would build myself a church to keep the money flowing.

If you consider the country ruined by the presence of minorites, blame White people who forcefully brought Black people to America and proffited big time from their labor. Now, they are doing the same thing to Mexican people, profitting big time from cheap immigrant labor.

Another example, Clayton County schools. Used to be nice, black leaders came in and look at it now! Unreal! You thugs cause CRIME! Prime example, the state of Wyoming is 0.9% black. Guess how many murders they had statewide in 2007? 9. Yes, NINE. Gee I wonder why?

Tell no one ,go to work tomorrow and quit my job, put bag of dog do on every desk of people I don’t like with a note “work your a__ off and I will think about you everyday. I would then buy everyone in the office a can of chicken noodle soup and a soda cracker for lunch. Then I would tell the owner you totally suck at running this business and I hope this company makes $5,000 profit this year so you can give everyone a stupid coffee mug at christmas and a 10cents an hour raise………I love me

Aside from the house, a new ride, etc. The very first thing I’d do after I got all my arrangements made for managing my new wealth would be to donate $1 million to our local Vol. Fire Dept to buy new equipment with… then endow a $1 million fund to keep that equipment updated.

Stick to the question all you bitter folks. And, those that hate the AJC so much - why are you on their site? Amazes me the people who write on these things that can’t answer the original question without venting their sad little frustrated issues.

Paul, excuse me, but you act as if white people don’t commit crimes. Every time the office place gets shot up, who does it? More likely than not it’s a white person. Who does all the shootings at the universities and schools? Most likely a white person. I rest my case.

I would give a couple million to my favorite church (Bronwood Road Church of Christ- Dawson GA) build myself, my 3 daughters and 2 sons a new house on the same land. Give my Mom whatever she wants. Travel to every city I can and purchase a building to convert for the cities homeless into an education center and housing, then assist with the purchase or rental of housing for them. Take a long needed Cruise. Make sure my closest friends and family are wealthy. Put away for my kids future(make sure they are millionaires before I pass on). Retire early and save and/or invest the rest.

Actually, I just had a much better idea. I’d use every cent of the money to hire lawyers to make sure that ALL churches have to pay taxes from now on. As they are in the “business” of “selling” something that does not exsist (great business…why didn’t i think of that?)… they need to pay taxes like the rest of us. to be honest….if churches are forced to pay taxes…our country would truly fix ALL it’s very ills. We would once again be the greatest nation on earth. Now…we are the worst…the school yard bully, and owe more money to China then we have…china being the REAL super power now…who come to think of it…does not ALLOW any of these phoney churches in their country…yes….that is what i’d do…hire lawyers and sue until churches needed to pay taxes. Then maybe sue them for “fraud” as they are no better than fortune tellers….actually much much MUCH worse! ;-)

I’d at first most likely have a heart attack. But be sure the first 50% or more of the money will go to Uncle Sam whether or not I die. Then if I do live, I would probably have no idea what I’d do with the money. I would like to think I’d stay the same and take care of people close to me and have a really big bank account, but I know that most likely wouldn’t happen. It would probably tear my family and friends apart and cause more stress than ease. And I’d probably become some recluse that’s mad at the world only to end up giving the money away or spending it on stupid things just to get rid of it. I’d then become enlightened and realize that no amount of money will buy me happiness. And I will abandon all the things I’ve been told all my life about money and realize happiness is and was within me from the start. Then I’d be right back where I started, somewhere between rich and poor.

Chris it is really scary that people like you are allowed to blog , yours should have been denied. You have to live on the same earth with the very people you are criticizing. We are not going away, so how ignorant is that to be so hateful towards people you dont even know and apparently will never understand, how ignorant is it to dwell on and waste such energy on something that is never going to happen (a world without color). There are good and bad people in every race, didnt your parents teach you to judge a person by their own merits and character? Its sad that your parents didnt teach you any better than that, and I hope to God that you dont raise any children in this world, because they would be as ignorant as you are. you seem to be a bitter hateful hearted peron..Im sorry you dont have Love in your heart for everyone (my parents taught me that!!). I’ll pray for you!!! Love you anyway!!

Diana: Most people on this blog are not serious. Call it a “vent” if you will. And Chris has just as much right to post his hate as you have to post your love. Some people may think you shouldn’t be allowed to blog your religious beliefs, and some people find your comments scary, just like you find Chris’ comments scary. We’re free here to speak what we feel. I’m not judging you but telling you the facts. Besides, there are millions of people like Chris, and there’s little anyone can do about it. Pray for me, too, if you like.

And per this comment ” Lots of weapons are a must too”. Chris, have you been watching the news lately or CAN you even read a newspaper??? Your wonderful race is shooting up schools left and right..killing the wife, the kids, and the dog daily, and I mean daily, I read probably 60 different newspapers daily and its the same story.. raping and killing innocent young girls and older women, Molesting kids in church..must I go on?? Watch Suburban Secrets or Power, Priviledge and Justice every once in awhile, both these series are about the White elite that commit horrible crimes, killing wives, kids , mothers, fathers ,grandparents and it comes on EVERYDAY!!, so how much crime is that?? Hmmmm..These people are MAD crazy..most of them probably think like you and ended up going crazy!! I hope you dont live in my city!!! You’ll probably be the next White Crime Statistic!!! Think before you type!!!

I hear ya’ foobs, you’re right, he has a right to say those things, its called “freedom of speech” however, I dont think my comments are scary at all. I speak the truth. We dont need people like that influencing other people, kids can read this too!! The FACT is, and what I was trying to say is why waste time on such hateful things? If we spent as much time on the positive and trying to make the world better by example, and our own actions , instead of stereotypical comments that are very hurtful and hateful, the world would be a litte better to live in.. We all have to live and work together, so cant we all just get along??? One step at a time, start within ourselves. Including me, sorry for the negativity in my post Chris..Much Love!!

I would gather a “DREAM TEAM”. Attorney, CPA, Financial Planner, select family members, and my BEST FRIEND.

I would do the following:

  1. Put my home on the market,

  2. buy a different home,

  3. set up trust funds for my children (make it somewhat hard for them to get at…)

  4. Buy new cars for me and my husband.
    * Mercedes (me), BMW (him) *

  5. Pay off all old debt.

  6. Put some money away for our future.

  7. Make sure to assist my family, and friends. Financial GIFTS!

  8. Make some investments (this includes charitable GIFTS).

  9. Try to make a change in my current community…

  10. REGULARLY, Volunteer wherever I want…

  11. Travel without having to rush back to a job.

  12. Enjoy life… I have worked so many years… I can’t imagine just resting!

  13. Open a Daycare. I love children! I would love the opportunity to make a positive change in the life of our babies!

* It would be my job to ensure the center runs as it should… My standards are those of a GOOD MOTHER/PARENT - NOT THE GOVERNMENT! *

  1. I would be able to be at home when my children come home from school.
This to me would be PRICELESS!

  2. Go back to school to get a degree! * PRICELESS *

Id keep $20 Million for my self indulgence, and take $200 million to somehow rub out the two oppressive political parties, and somehow ‘fix’ it so that political parties were outlawed in America. I would set up learning centers so that everyone could study the US Constitution so they would not be SOooo confused about what their country is here for. Ask NOT what your country can do for you, but what YOU can do for America. STRIVE to be SMARTER than a democrat!

I would buy $220 million dollars worth of Lindsey Williams books “The Energy Non-Crisis” and pass them out to all Americans and let them see why we don’t use the largest oil reserve in the world in Alaska, because of a contract we have with Saudi Arabia that they pay off our national debt as long as we buy oil from them.
