Are you in the mood for nachos?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
If you’re in the mood for some nachos, you might want to check out this accessAtlanta article, which includes a few locations for some choice chips.
We’re not talking about the stuff you get at the movies. Nachos connoisseurs know there’s more to the dish than melted cheese — and orange-stained fingers afterward. Where do you go to get your nachos fix? Who has the best in town?

Tacos El Reyes in Lakeport, Calif. have the absolute best in history. Get them with carnitas. Yeah, I’d drive 3,000 miles for that. Much closer and almost as good are at this little place, dang, can’t remember the name. Anyhow, it’s in the Kroger shopping center in Brentwood, Tenn. Also very yummy.

The best bar nachos by far are at Trackside Tavern in Decatur. They make their own chili topping - it’s excellent - so are the jerk chicken nachos. Lots of cheese, browned just right around the edges. Yum!

Traditional nachos, Digger’s in Sandy Springs sets the standard. For non-traditional “gourmet” nachos, the tavern chips at The Tavern at Phipps are hard to beat. I also like the Twisted Taco in Roswell for a mix of traditional vs. gourmet.

Meehan’s Pub! Has the best nachos in atlanta. They drizzle queso and bbq sauce all over the nachos and hot chicken. And add just the rt amount of serrano peppers (i think) and cilantro. Perfect with a pint of Harp to put out the fire.
I’m seeing a lot of bbq sauce on nacho’s mentioned here. Has this been going on for a while or is this a new thing?

In response to shirley penn I think that she has no idea what she is talking about that Fuddruckers is the best I have ever been too. If you had one bad experience there that is one thing, to write a blog about it is another. You should not give the people in Henry County bad advice on one experience that you had. If you want to complain about hairnets… show me where in the laws are states the employees have to wear hairnets. As for dirty jeans, if the guys are on the grill of course they are going to get dirty lol. But overall the Fuddruckers in McDonough is the most popular place in the area. The managers are great, employees are always willing to help and the atmosphere is wonderful. Every one should check it out.

Some of the best nachos have to be at No Mas Mexican Cantina in Castleberry Hill. I don’t know what kind of tortillas they are but they’re not your traditional corn or flour AND the grilled chicken is flame broiled. To die for!! We do them with the refried beans on the side. YUM-O!!!

About McDonough Fuddruckers, and, the rest of the Fuddruckers in Atl. They do have the best nachos and not many people know Fudds for nachos. By law cooks/grill have to wear either a hat or hair-net. If they are not wearing either then let somebody there know. Grill guys always get dirty - have you ever seem a guy digging a ditch and his clothes aren’t dirty???? One plus for Fudds - you can see their grill guys. I wonder what the grill guys at other restaurants look like??

My kitchen! I grew up in Texas and what passes for nachos in chain restaurants is a joke…lettuce, diced tomatoes, etc. That’s a nacho salad. Real (Texas) nachos…each tortilla chip is spread with refried beans, a slice of sharp cheddar cheese, and a slice of jalapeno; place the tray of nachos under the broiler until cheese is bubbly and melts; eat ‘em fast before they get cold. My friends would buy all the fixin’s and invite me over to PREPARE the nachos. Put your sour cream, etc., on the side if you like, but don’t put LETTUCE on my nachos.

I am a native Texan and have tried lots of nachos. It’s one of those “you can’t mess it up too badly kind of dishes”. But you can get lots of run-of-the-mill, average nachos.
BOTTOM LINE - Casa Grande on Peachtree have the best They make their refried beans from scratch, their mesquite chicken fajitas are always moist and their homemade, roasted jalapeno salsa makes any other look second (or third) rate.
As for something to cool off your tongue - try their signature drink, the Swirl.
