Do you prefer public fireworks displays?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Atlantans will have many options to watch July 4th fireworks displays.
Do you prefer to go to a public fireworks display or have your own July 4th celebration with friends and family? Where are some of the best places and vantage points to watch the fireworks?

In the 30+ years I have lived in the Atlanta area, I have been to numerous shows. I have been to Stone Mountain and sat on the lawn. We have pulled cars over on highway 78 (way back in the early 80s); Lenox Square, Lake Lanier, etc.
But now my absolute favorite is at EE Robinson Park in Sugar Hill. We have been going for 3 years now, and I think they have an awesome show. They have a ton of things for the kids, a live band, the fireworks, then they show a kid friendly movie over at the Ampitheater.
The best thing about it though, is it takes less than 10 minutes for me to get home.

The festivities at EE Robinson are on July 3.
But, on the 4th I do prefer to stay home and entertain. I have friends who come over, we cook out, drink, and then we shoot off our own fireworks, along with the neighbors…..
I have a dog that just freaks out during fireworks, so I much prefer to stay home. I can monitor her and she won’t tear my house up.

I get a group of friends and take off for Helen, Ga. Good fireworks and a lot of people. Usually take the truck and cook off the tailgate.

We have been going to private fireworks for years. Would not have it any other way. Less crowds, less traffic, less obnoxious musix, less sweating, less swearing, less people wearing next to nothing….

It amazes me that people find watching fireworks entertaining, once puberty kicks in. Simpleminded people…you’re so lucky to be so easily entertained. I’m jealous.

Emily Are you married to Mel?
My father passed away on the 4th of July 15 years ago. I LOVE to watch fireworks and they remind me of him. We sent him out with a bang. I can’t think of a better way to remember my father.
I have loved watching fireworks all my life, and I am close to 50. I love all the festivities, I love the crowds, especially the kids.
I’m sorry you don’t enjoy free entertainment, or celebrating our freedom as a country. Maybe you should move to Iraq.
