Your morning after thoughts
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The inaugural events have ended. The parade participants have come in from the cold. The last songs have been sung at the balls.
Today is the first full day of work for the new Obama administration. How are you feeling? Still jazzed from the history and ceremony of Tuesday. Warmed by the words of the nation’s new leaders? Back to workaday worries about jobs, the stock market, the cost of health care?
Tell us what you’re thinking this morning after.

Our new President is smart, thoughtful and hopeful about our nation’s future. Will he do everything right? No. Who of us does? But, I sure feel good about him being the one giving it his best!

Oh the hangover. Through our drunken haze we thought he looked good. We so very much wanted the new one to work out. But alas, again, here we are the next morning. We’ve been had. He only wanted one thing, wasn’t really interested in us, just what he could get out of it. Oh the hangover.

A lot of glitz and hype…but I am more interested in things starting today. He has a job to do. I hope he remembers that he is President of all of the people…and not just the liberal left. For all of our sakes, I wish him well and hope he is successful at restoring America’s dreams and confidence.

So let’s see, the liberal media outlets screamed bloody murder and made a weeks of negative headlines (ex.NPR’s article-January 01) at the Bush’s in 2001 for spending between 50-75M for their inauguration festivities during our technology recession and yet not one media outlet has given one ounce of attention to our new President spending 170M+ during this economy. Oh, you “professional” and “responsible” press.(But let’s give Bookman a little time, we all know how fair and balanced his opinions are, right?)

Sorry - I haven’t bought in yet. I think Obama can read his speeches very well, but look at him when he doesn’t have the teleprompter at his service - he is just aweful. Like I heard Trump say - he will need to be great because our country needs it. I hope he will do great and it looks like he has some good people around him. Just don’t buy into the speeches. Let’s see what he actually does.

Time will tell if he will be great or not. The thing that I worry about the most is the incredible pride (7 deadly sins-look it up) that he displays. It is all about what I can do and what you can do for us. The history that he is making is tremendous, no doubt. But, unless he learns a little humility, I don’t think we will see much “change” at all. That being said, he is our President and I will stand behind him. I may not agree with him on many political platforms, but I will back him.

Mikey: his first words at the Inagural speech were: “I stand here humbled”
He plainly stated that he expects the govt to work on fixing our country’s ills, but that WE must roll up our sleeves and do it with him.

Its interesting to read the blogs this morning from all the racist conservatives who think its a tragedy that Obama is president. But he epitomizes everything you claim to stand for, he is someone who pulled himself up by his bootstraps, he worked hard and took nothing for granted, he has done everything that you and your party says it takes to be a “true American” but yet you still hate him? They hate him because he is black.
these same people can not name ONE thing that republicans have done good for the country since the turn of the century. Herbert Hoover was responsible for the GREAT DEPRESSION. Dwight Eisenhower started Vietnam and we all know how well that went for the United States, remind me what is the body count for that disaster? Richard Nixon well he ain’t “Tricky Dick” for nothing. Ronald Regan where should we start with the COLLAPSE of Detroit or start with his attempt to bust the unions? George H. Bush no new taxes we see how well that went for us or how about his funding of TERRORIST. George W. Bush remind me how much is your 401(k) worth now? How much money did you lose in the stock market? How much could you sell your house for on the market today and how much loss would you take? How many of your sons and daughters have come back in pine boxes all in the name of fighting terrorism?
It is a shame that they can’t see past their race to see he will be good for the country

Can someone please tell my why “Rev.” Lowery is getting a pass on his slap in the face to caucasians during his “prayer” on Tuesday? His prayer insinuates (i.e. typecasts) that every part of the caucasian race does wrong. President Obama had just given a speech about drawing this country together, and Lowery chooses to continue his tactics of eschewing racism. He may have worked along side MLK for civil rights, but he has proven himself to be one of the worst racists ever!

The front page of the AJC today says it all. Racism is alive and well in the south. By making your front page story about George Bush’s return to Midland, rather than President Obama’s ascendancy to the Presidency is an homage to the racism that still scars your part of the country. Please, Georgia succeed from the Union, so we can be rid of your racist blight on our country.

Laura,
When Bush was President, I did NOT like it! I beleive it is becuase of him that America stands broken today.
I did however call him PRESIDENT because I am an AMERICAN! You do not have to like who is in office. You do not have to agree with the policies of this administration. It is in fact, our responsibilty to question the authority of our government’s actions.
I will however always be respectful of our nations leaders! We live in the best country in the world! Do we have struggles ahead? Of course! We have been struggeling for 8 years!
Laura, pull yourself up by your bootstraps and be proud to be an AMERICAN! Not a memeber of a political party, AN AMERICAN!

In resounding vote of “no confidence”, the stock market fell 4% yesterday. This is the first time EVER that an inauguration day market has not shown positive gains. Overseas this morning, similiar results were being reported as the world-wide business comunity pulled money out of American companies as President Ass-Clown took office.
I truly hope that you losers realize the change you voted for, and that it causes you untold misery and hardship. You wanted it, you got it. Don’t come to my company looking for a job, as over the last 4 months I have purged all that voted for “change” from my ranks. Good Luck over the next 4 years.. you’re going to need it.

I did not vote for Mr. Obama, nor was I pleased with John McCain. Former President Bush did not create this mess we are in; he inherited it from those Democrats LB Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and yes, Bill Clinton (remember NAFTA, which was the beginning of the end of our economy in the US). While I didn’t vote for Mr. Obama, I will support him as the president of this great nation. I pray that he will have the wisdom and knowledge to get this country back on track. I hope that everyone will give him a chance. We should all work for the common good of this country. People around the world are watching us; let’s show them that the peaceful transition we witnessed yesterday will continue and that the United States of America will move to the forefront once again. God bless America and God bless President Obama as he begins this arduous task.

I agree with those that think the parties were excessive. I find it inappropriate for there to be Government celebrations when the situation we are in is so dire.
However, his speech was great. I also wonder if people even hear his words though. He is talking about personal responsibility. Pulling OURSELVES up. Saying he can’t do anything without all of us working toegether to serve one another. You would think that message of personal responsibility would ring loudly and proudly with Conservatives, but they don’t hear it. Its like they are listening to a different speech. He is telling Parents that the Government can’t raise their kids, that its up to them to turn off the video games and make their children study, and Conservatives construe that to be “the most liberal”.
I don’t understand.

The enemies of our country were terrified of Bush because they knew he was strong. Today they are rejoicing as they plan attacks they know will succeed because Osama Obama is president. The leaders of the world know he is weak and will do nothing as the country is torn down by our enemies.

All American,
I disagree with your opinion about how our “enemies” feel. I believe that Osama and Al Queda couldn’t be happier about the reaction we had to 9/11. Osama even says so in his most recently released tape. In my opinion, they look at our stretched military and crumbling economy and are rejoicing. They, rightfully, see that our reaction to their action has hurt us worse than their initial action.

As I sit here and read these comments I am deeply saddened. The fact that such ignorance is being displayed after such a momentus event is sickening. Who cares what color the president is? Who cares what party he is a member of? We should all be proud Americans today. We have shown the world that we are not afraid to be progressive and to make change where and when it’s needed.
You all need to face it, Barack Obama is your President and will be for the next four years. I like a previous blogger didn’t care for Bush’s policies or the way he couldn’t ever seem to make complete sentences. But he was my President and he deserves the respect anyone in that office.
I hope that we can all come together and move forward. If not, all the change President Obama is trying to make won’t have a chance. You people really need to get over yourselves and grow up.

There is no unity. There should be no unity. The proposals of this administration are economically and constitutionally unsound. They must be rejected before these plans reduce this country to little more than a struggling 3rd world dictatorship.
There is no money. We are bankrupt and beyond. Our government will not stop printing money - destroying the dollar - and will not stop spending money it does not have. These are facts, not opinions. Not a single penny that government spends comes from anywhere else except the private sector - meaning yours and my pockets. The private sector produces. The public sector consumes and does not produce. Thanks to government regulation, taxation, monetary policy, the federal reserve, etc. the private sector is shrinking and the public sector is growing.
Despite the attempts to rewrite history, the policies of Hoover and FDR both were the reason the crash of ‘29 turned into the Great Depression and lasted nearly 15 years. Those same policies have been put in place by Bush and are being extended by Obama. The existence of the Federal Reserve has been the root cause of all our economic woes since 1915.
The congress has only been in session a couple of weeks and already there is a bill from a congressman in Illinois (no surprise) to force every gun owner to apply for a permit with the Attorney General of the US (wake up freedom lovers and write to your elected representatives).
For those who did not like Bush, there is very little differnce between his policies and Obama’s. Especially where freedom and liberty are concerned.
That is how this administration is starting off.
Why nobody wants to even consider these realities is beyond me. Obama’s being black should have nothing to do with frank and honest discussions about the future of this country.

Everything went very well from MLK day to Obama Day.I feel the gay community need to leave Rick Warren along. It’s his choice to believe whatever he wants, why are you trying to change this man belief. It was very rude for the young lady to stand up in a church service to express her feelings. That is self-righteous, you didn’t think enough of the King Family to respect their choice you they wanted to put on program. An african american person would have been jailed for life for doing that in a white church. If the gay community poll have the parishners that day, they would have had Rick Warren same view.

I never thought that America would ever experience a CULT OF PERSONALITY at the national level. Sadly, America is just as fallible as every other culture on this planet in the course of human history. The children of Ron Clark Academy sang their adoration to B. Hussein Obama. The following also had their names sung / adored by children…
Saddam Hussein, Ayatollah, Great Leader - Kim Jong’Il, Ho Chi Minh, Kmer Rouge, Stalin, Hitler, Lenin
Like all other Americans today, I too shed tears for this great country of ours.

All American,
I was hoping it would hit you right in the gut. But unfortunately, your reply did not hurt me, since that is exactly what I expected from you and people like you. People like me have become immune to your nonsensical, unprovoked hatred.
Well here’s some food for thought. I too am a business owner of a very successful business. I have no problems hiring people from all walks of life and cultures. As long as the job gets done well. Obama, also understands that surrounding himself with the right people (regardless of color) actually makes him a very intelligent man…..HHMMMMMM?
I will reluctantly have to agree with you on one thing….blacks and crime. Many blacks unfortunately have bought into the traps of this culture, and have perpetuated the ridiculous stereotypes that have poisoned our people. It’s true. BUT, please know this….times are changing! You’d better believe that little “would-be” criminal black boys have a whole new vision of what a black man can be. It may take a while…maybe even a generation….but things will change. Then what will you have to say? Can you deal with an entire generation of black men who finally “get it” and pick themselves up and stand in their rightful place? Or would HE be more of a danger to you than “ray-ray” and his cousin “pookie”? HMMMMM???
You can be a racist. Do what you do. I can respect you for being honest, as opposed to hiding behind a white sheet. I have racist tendencies, too. But I truly try to confront my issues. I have to remember that you are a victim just as well as many blacks are. You are a victim of your own homemade belief that you are somehow superior to all other races. What do you truly know about your people’s past? No…not the white-washed BS nonsense that is written in our “his”tory books. The unfortunate truth is ignorant-a$$ people like you and ignorant-a$$ people like ray-ray and pookie have bought into the same thing…white is right and black is whack.
With the beauty of the internet, however, historical truths are finally being revealed to a culturally-starved people. Truth leads to identity. Identity leads to humility and power. Humility and power lead to ….well people like Obama. Do you get it now?

I just want to say this…whether you are racist, a democrat, a republican, gay or otherwise. You live in this country. You are faced with the troubles of the nation and the world just as everyone else. And unless you have a magic plan or ability to resolve the issues we face as a nation and individually, you have no other choice( no other choice), but come to reality that Obama is President, today and the next 4 years, and whether it is him or someone else in office, it is going take the grace of God and the unity of people to change OUR nation’s situation. This my friends is a matter of fact.

I did not vote for Obama but I stand behind him as our President. I want to say that he is not black. He is mixed. I really got tired of the media mostly showing black people. Who cares that he is mixed. The main thing we need to be concerned about is going to do things he says he is going to do. I am also tired of hearing the bad things about President Bush. I think he was a good President.

Martin Luther King said there is only one race and that is the human race and until everyone starts thinking like that there is no hope for any of us. Obama should be able to celebrate just like any other President, even if he didn’t celebrate, it wouldn’t bring a solution to the problems we are having any quicker. Joseph Lowery - Thank you for embarrassing Atlanta again! If it weren’t for Whitey, Obama would be ca Community Activist not a Senator or President. It is a shame you can not grow like the rest of the country. You are no different than a klansman who desires the “good old days” again. The only positive thing is that most people realize you are irrelevent in your views. Obama threw a bone to MLK’s memory by having you speak and you blew it. Obama set you up for the second comming of the “I have a dream speach” and you struck out. You will be remebered not by all the good you did in the 50’s and 60’s but by your moronic rhyming at the Inauguration. EPIC FAIL

Again, where have most of these Black voters been until now? That’s right, they did not care enough to get to the polls to actually vote until Obama showed up, and you have the nerve to label me as Racist! Let’s talk about racist (Affirmative Action, Most Division 1 scholarships being given to Black athletes vs all other races, most blacks not giving $$’s to a university or to a booster program that their kid benefits from. Enough for now. My main point is that most (Blacks) voted for a guy who they know nothing about. Most that voted for Obama do not nor have ever paid taxes, but yet were allowed to cast a vote for a guy that has ZERO Experience of managing anything! I mean come on. What has he done? Especially for Blacks, a failed district in Chicago, & a city and state that is known to be corrupt as hell. Yea, I’m racist.

Jerry,
Please place the blame where it belongs. The reason he is called “black” is due to white racist forefathers who identified any person with ONE drop of blood as “Negro”, AKA black. Both my husband and I classify ourselves as “black”. Although both of our ancestry is actually African, Caucasian and Native American. We are both light-skinned, like Obama. And all three of our children look bi-racial. BUT even still, we are considered “black”.
Yes…our president is half-white, but our country’s bitter past will continue to blight that reality. Should I call myself a Afro-Euro-Indo American?

Once you step outside of Metro Atlanta, we must realize we are still in Georgia. To expect anything outside of the racist, low life comments posted in this blog would not be realistic. To all of the Barack haters, Barack Obama is YOUR president so get over it! Whether or not you agree with him being president is DOES NOT MATTER at this point because the bottom line is that HE IS THE PRESIDENT!
The fact that he is in office symbolizes significant change in this country. I have nothing but the highest level of respect for McCain but if something would have happened, surely you couldn’t think Sarah Palin would have been capable. She also lacked experience yet many of you posting to this blog were ready to put her a heartbeat away from being president of this country????
Again at the end of the day Barack is going to be president for the next 4 years, and WE WILL elect him AGAIN to serve 4 more years!!!! To my fellow Obama supporters, we must realize many of these comments are from people who lack a formal education, and cultural exposure. We live in a diverse society and Obama fully acknowledges that. Let’s remain focused on being better citizens for OUR president. Don’t worry about the haters. I’m sure they will respond back (they always do) however I will not even acknowledge them with a repsonse. OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA!!!!

Good morning,
President Obama is my president. While I didn’t vote for him, I will respect him and hope that he does a great job. Our country needs a strong leader right now.
However, I am greatly embarrassed by the way that the people on the Mall responded when former President Bush left yesterday. It is, indeed, insulting and embarrassing to see people waving their key chains and singing “Naa, Naa, Naa, Naa, Hey, Hey, Goodbye”. They were not at a sporting event, but at the Inauguration. What despicable behavior to exhibit.
Also, I agree with the bloggers about Joseph Lowry. Many people here are throwing around the word racist. Racism works both ways. Whites, Blacks, Hispanics— all people of all colors can be racist. What Rev. Lowry said was racist. That cannot be ignored. The fact that the comments are being ignored by the media is outrageous.
President Obama is now our 44th president. I hope that when he leaves office, either in four or eight years, people will show him more respect than the people showed Mr. Bush.

Donations did not cover the $170 mil. price tag for the inauguration events. Donations covered about $45 mil. The rest is ours (taxpayers) to bear. To those who are insulted with Bush being on the front page, get over it. Obama became a millionaire during Bush’s tenure and so did a lot of other people. Obama’s wife’s salary tripled to over $300K once he got elected senator and then her employer recieved a hefty earmark from the taxpayers via the new senator obama. MK, unfortunately, I think you are the first black person to actually be embarassed by the Lowery “prayer.” The worst of it is that his “prayer” had to be vetted by the inaugural committee, thereby making him a representative of our new President. It makes the entire presidency look petty to take a cheap racial shot at the inauguration of the leader of the free world. His comments do nothing to unify a country in need. If only I had a voice to counter his, but I am just a measly white racist who has spent her entire life keeping the black man down (sarcasm alert). The president’s approval of Lowery’s comments is despicable. He should not have been invited to speak at this event. He is a bitter old racist. If this is what is in our future, God help us. I try to live in the belief that God created us all, negroid, caucasian, mongoloid, but people like Lowery make if difficult especially when he can use such a forum for his racist comments.

No matter how asinine Lowery’s comments were, I will never question whether God made us all. He did. No doubt. Lowery has had to endure some extremely difficult trials throughout his long life. I will never discount that. I am, however, disappointed with his prayer and its intent. Even still, it is childish and non-productive to pair his thoughtless prayer with the President ‘s ability to lead.
There are many other blacks who do not agree with Lowery’s prayer, BTW.

MK, what I said is true and I am not naive. The point is the absolute double standard and lack of moral compass. I do not care if Obama benefitted from his position. It is the total hatred for Bush and adoration for Obama that is troubling. He is nothing but the same old politician as anyone else, but he gets a complete pass because of his color and the naivete of his worshippers. Again, Obama did not suffer at all throughout the Bush administration and many people did not suffer. Certain people hammered everyone over the head about how bad they had it under Bush. Sorry, but that is not reality. The last six months have been bad, but most people in this country were doing just fine for the last eight years. The 1970’s were far worse under Carter and America survived his presidency. In fact, I had a job throughout the ‘70’s with unemployment in the double digits, but that’s probably just because of the color of my skin (sarcasm alert). Interest rates were at about 21% for mortgages and credit cards. That’s where we are heading, but that is not where we have been over the past eight years. I hope Obama is up to the task. He is basically a figurehead. His cabinet will handle all the problems and they are mostly white (have you noticed). It doesn’t help to unify this country when you allow a racist to speak at your inauguration. I guess it just is everyday talk to Obama thought having attended services by Wright for over 20 years.

I am not a sore loser. Nor am I a racist. Lowery is a racist and he was given a premier forum for his hatred. I do not care what he has been through in his life. This was neither the time nor the place to insult others. He was wrong regardless of what he may have been through in his life. There are no excuses for his rudeness. He has a history of saying hateful things at the wrong time and place. He should not have been given this forum when the whole country, black, brown, yellow, cream, white needs to come together. He insulted an entire race of people on the planet. Of course, some white people hate themselves because they are white and would not be insulted by such a comment, i.e., F.Pfleger. A self-loathing person is not a God fearing person. Let’s keep the Lowery’s out of the limelight unless you are willing to hear from David Dukes as well. Don’t forget, the white race sacrificed tens of thousands of sons in the Civil War in the interest of abolishing slavery. You can question their motives, but they still died for that cause. I woke up this morning concerned. Concerned that we have seen an end of the time when we could elect a President who is “the peoples choice”. The democrats have now figured out how to win the election with someone who cannot be disagreed with. If you disagree with anything President Obama says or thinks, you will be racist. That was proven during the election, when we were told we were racist if we did not vote for him. The same thing will happen in 4 year, no matter how Presidetn Obama does or doesn’t do, we will be racist if we do not vote for him again. It is no longer about merit and how well you can serve your country and uphold the Constitution. I am concerned when people say that “now they can relate to the President”. The same people say that the color of your skin does not matter - well, it obviously does to them or they would have been able to relate to another skin colored man/woman. I am concerned that the ability to work hard, run your own business, and have a strong sense of ethics are over. We have several friends who have given up working hard, because they know “Obama will take care of them”. I am scared for my children and for living in a society where freedom is not valued.
I am praying for the next four years. I am praying that God becomes the backbone of our nation once again. I am praying for bringing back freedom and not taking it away so those in power can stay in power.

Patricia,
You claim that Lowery is a racist. Perhaps he is. If you had to endure the unimaginable racism that he experienced, you probably would be too. It’s hard to just shake stuff like that off. It still does not justify his prayer, but the facts are what the are. I guess that was his way of telling all of the people who oppressed on him in the past to kiss his a$$. He just chose the wrong platform, but he definitely got his point across.
No matter how you defend Bush, he will be known as one of the worst president’s in this nation’s history. Only time will tell how Obama will be judged.

As a citizen and an armed forces veteran, I will continue to give the office of President of the United States the respect and honor it deserves.
As for Obama, I intend on showing him the same amount of respect and honor the Democrats showed George Bush following the 2000 and 2004 elections.

This was a historic moment that was deeply ruined for many young people. Instead of living the inauguration ceremonies, all they will remember is their school principal coming into their classroom yanking the remote from the teacher and turning off the television. What kind of message does this send to our young people? This is my hometown and before you get upset….it did not happen in our area (thank-goodness)….however it did happen in our state (Columbus). I can’t imagine what was going through those middle schooler minds. What makes it even worse is that it was an inner city school with a high population of African-Ameerican children. A wonderful historic moment that will forever be tainted. These children will not even be able to tell their children anything….except that the principal of their school wouldn’t let them enjoy the moments of the inauguration of the first African-American president.

Why is someone racist, who does not agree with President Obama? Were you racist when you did not agree with President Bush? Color of your skin has nothing to do with whether you agree with a President.
I did not agree with President Bush and I definitely do not care for President Obama’s connection to terrorist, being in politics for himself, being out of touch with everyone who doesn’t eat lobster for lunch, refusing to acknowledge the freedoms granted to us by our Constitution, wanting us to conform to standards he himself does not go along with, ending small business in our country, and getting ready to destroy free enterprise and healthcare.
I am EXHAUSTED to continually hear that you can disagree with someone who is caucasian, be disrespectful, etc. But, if you every disagree with an african american politician - you are racist. You CANNOT have it both ways.
LOOK AT THE PERSON AND STOP LOOKING AT THEIR SKIN COLOR.

Yesterday was a historic day but that old fossil, Rev. Joseph Lowery tried to become the news with his embarassment of a prayer. How can we move forward as a nation if this joke of a man just wants to relive and revile in the past. Barack, do us a favor and cut ties to Lowery. He is an embarassment to Atlanta and he embarassed the nation yesterday. We are at a very important time right now in our history, and don’t need dividers like Lowery getting any attention. Let me vent this one out, I know I got a lot of supporter with this one. Martin Luther KingIII, and the his brother Dexter has never got out in the community to help people, but on King Day, Martin showed up with Obama, just for a show, to be seen painting houses. Now he never lifted a paint brush in his life. I’m sorry but If I am missing something, please let me know. Who have they helped? who house they painted in Gerogia? It disappoint me that Martin just wanted to be in the lime light of Obama, and he don’t have a history of helping no body………He would not even paint the King Center as bad as it need painting……

No, MK, Lowery is a racist. There is no perhaps about it. No words can express an apology on behalf of white people for what he may have endured during segregation. However, he hates white people and that is racist. He would have us all put in the ovens if he could. At least that is the way he comes across. Look what the nazis did to the jews. I do not hear Jews using every public forum to say hateful things about Germans. They are more interested in our common humanity than the transgressions of the few who made them suffer intolerably. Words can not suffice. But here you have an African president and Lowerey still can’t resist his hatred. I wish I had his forum, but I don’t have the bully pulpit like he does so I guess white people will have to grin and bear it, make excuses for people like him. Barak’s inaugural team should not have invited him and that is a reflection on Barak’s judgement, on which he ran an entire campaign (his “good” judgment). So, I am not impressed with the new boss. Even if he is a different color, he still looks a lot like the old boss, who everyone despises, except me it appears. So, let’s get on with it. Get to work, President Obama, and make your promises come true. A chicken in every pot; a lexus in every garage, a cell phone in every pocket. Let’s get going.

“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. This is just as true of the man who puts “native” before the hyphen as of the man who puts German or Irish or English or French before the hyphen. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance.” Quote from Theodore Roosevelt October 12 1915.
We have too many hyphenated americans here and we need to do something about it. Teddy Roosevelt was talking about it almost a century ago. If we have an African-American for a President, I do believe that we have a problem……we should only have Americans as our Presidents.

By reading all of your bloggs the one thing that is true and will never change is that there is and will always be racism in the south (GA). GA born have lived and dealt with it all my life so it means nothing to me. But it is disharding in this day and time that we can not put aside our petty differences to turn this country around. You have major companies that have been signature icons to the USA and now they are no longer. The dollar is not worth the paper it is printed on almost and we have a military that is stretched, weakened and tired. Pointing the finger does not help this country repair itself. The truth of the matter is that it is going to take a higher power than President Obama to fix the mess we are in. God is the only true savior for this country in this day and time. You should be praying instead of debating who did what, who’s fault it is and how unsuccesful the President is going to be or we may have more problems ahead than the weakened economy, the jobless rate increase and homes in foreclosure. God Bless all of you, all of us (The American People)

Unfortunately, Emma, you are in the minority concerning not disrespecting former Presidents. What you read here is mild compared to calling Bush, bushchimphitler, baby killer, nazi and launching campaigns to assassinate Bush. Did you hear the crowd at the inauguration making fun of President Bush? Guess your judgment is reserved for those who do not support Obama. Further, I believe that Joseph Lowery expressed his hate for the white race in a “prayer” at the inauguration. Making a little fun of Barak on a blog is a lot different than using the inauguration to insult an entire race of people. If you want to be upset over disrespect, speak a piece about Lowery and his disrespect for an entire race of people.

Single mother, where were you when so much of this country were being so hateful to George Bush. Where are you on the hatefulness of Lowery yesterday? Where are you on the rude crowds who booed our former president and happily ridiculed him as he left for Texas? Are we now supposed to care after Obama and others spent 8 years disrespecting a duly elected President? If Obama gets treated a quarter indecently as George Bush, it will not come close to the hatred of the democrats and liberals toward George Bush. George Bush did not cause the gas shortage; it was a hurricane. George Bush did not cause your grocery prices to go up; it was the hurricane. On another matter, I do not agree with sending our sons and daughters to Afghanistan to be slaughtered. I do not support the war in Afghanistan. Anybody with me? What, no takers. Where is the anti-war crowd now? Also, when are the checks being mailed by the white house. Aren’t we supposed to get $1000 or something?

be scared, you are the reason why racism perpetuates in this country. Not only are you egging it on and not only are you just trying to make a spectacle of yourself, THE VERY THINGS YOU WRITE ARE RACIST. Racism doesn’t always come in the form of white against black. And if you did some history studies, you would find out that racism actually began long before african slavery began.
It sickens me that I cannot voice my disapproval of an election that was not based on informed decisions, but driven by race without being called a racist. That in and of itself goes against the ideals of democracy. If this election was so much about the issues and informed decisions, why was there such an increase in minority voting? Coincidence? I think not. So now when someone other than a black person voices disapproval it’s racism. Regardless of how true it may be. When a black person voices disapproval, he’s an uncle tom? When someone like Lowery says what he says, it is simply overlooked, but when a broadcaster makes a reference to “nappy headed hoes” he is fired, and put under tremendous scrutiny, and labeled a racist? Hmm, talk about double standards.
Change? Accountability? Hmm, how about the wall street execs that needed billions of dollars because they ran their companies into the ground, but then turn around and “donate” 50,000 + to this “party”? Hmm, accountability? How about not wasting 100+ million on a “party” when the economy is falling apart. Change? Hmm, how about the 500,000 salary the president gets, on top of all the perks. How about the 150,000/ yr average salary for congress? How about cutting those figures in half, or maybe even more. That would save the federal government what? Close to 100 million a year. That’s a lot of money to put towards educating circus clowns like be scared.

Pandora, are you crazy or just educated in Chicago? You should be thankful that white people sacrificed tens of thousands of their children, fathers, husbands and brothers to free Africans from slavery. Maybe you should work against slavery in Africa, which exists today or slavery in Saudi Arabia or other arab countries. Stop blaming whitey for everything. Whites established this nation and its rule of law. It has worked very well for a number of years. People flock to this country because of our freedoms. You are a hater. Lowery does not need to use a national forum to insult white people. Obama would not be president if whites did not vote for him because there are not enough blaccks in the country to make up the difference. That is unless you count votes for ACORN. White people are not evil. This is what your leaders teach you. You dehumanize an entire part of God’s creation. Calm down, have a drink, get laid, smoke a joint, do whatever calms your nerves. Hypertenion is one of the top 10 killers in the United States. Inhale now exhale, count to 1 backwards from 10. It’s ok. Don’t stress life is to short. LOL

If two of the most powerful and influential people in the world can’t say and repeat 35 fifth grade level words, isn’t it time that we forgave W for “strategery”?

There is blatant disrespect on both sides of the blog today.
To say that white people don’t know discrimination is ridiculous. There are many “white” people who have been discriminated against— Jews, Italians, Irish, ect… and if you want to talk about slavery and racisim/bigotry, just look at the history of the Jews.
Furthormore, all people are given the same educational opportunities today. Students are not discriminated against- maybe they don’t value education and make the choice not the become educated, but no one is denying anyone the opportunity.
So, maybe the change needs to start with education. Looking at many of the blog entries, there are MANY people who could use a dictionary and a grammar course. There are blog entries that are so poorly written or so poorly spelled that they cannot be understood.

For the record, the reason President Obama didn’t say those “35 5th grade level words” so smoothly was because the person initiating the oath said them incorrectly. But that’s neither here nor there. Can we ALL, both white and black, please stop arguing and nitpicking over what Bush and Obama did or didn’t do and what they said or didn’t say? Bush was president and no matter what you think of him, he should be respected. Obama is president and no matter what you think of him, he should be respected. Grow up and let’s all ban together to stand against enemies in other countries who would try to harm us simply because we’re Americans, regardless of our skin color!

And Lo, did it come to pass that a Great Plague fell over HIS Kingdom. A Great Evil menace did cause OBAMA’S race to suffer great crimes against HIS people. Young girls without fathers for their babies, young men sent to prision, and no jobs for HIS diciples. For the armies of the THUGS had invaded HIS Kingdom, playing their loud Rap music and terrorizing HIS people in their chariots with 22 inch razor sharp rims. Dressed in their armor of 24 carat gold necklaces and diamond bracelets they spread their great evil across the empire. And BARACK saw that it was not good.

Emma - sorry, I am angry, but I won’t use a drug to soften reality. Are you able to answer my question? I guess you would have if you could have. You have no other name for Lowery’s hate. You suffer from moral relativism. Sometimes people can not or will not use the brains that God gave them. Sometimes people are willfully ignorant. I see a lot of that in the Obamamania camp. I angers me that this man can insult white people and no one cares. God forbid he had said something similar about Asians or Arabs or that Rick Warren said something similar about blacks. I will get over it. It is just fresh on my mind and it totally psssses me off, that’s all. And to think the president of the united states allowed him to insult a large part of the president’s constituency. Oh well, such is the divisiveness of the new administration.

Amen to Grow Up, Amen
I did not vote for him, but he is the president. I did not vote for Bush, but he was the president.
All I can hope for is that he uses his oratory skills to foster moderate progress in American and fix the world of %&$# the baby boomers have left our country in. Bush didn’t do it, Clinton didn’t do it. The selfish people who spent their life raising individual rights over the common good did it.
The best thing about Obama is not his color, his speaking ability or his fundraising. It is that he does not belong to the generation that ran this country into and educational, social and economic toilet.

Kay, what racist comments are you talking about? Yup, he’s our president, but he is not the king. Hopefully, he will not put people in prison for not agreeing with him. This is America and we are allowed to express our opinions. No one seemed to mind the insults hurled at Bush. I would guess that many people on this blog had a lot of hateful things to say about Bush and said it freely. Now, it’s Obama’s turn in the box. Can you handle it?

First I thank God for being alive, and for his grace of which he has given us all! It tears my heart to shreds to see such ignorance and hatred! Oh Mr. Bill, I would love to have your full name, and the address of your company so as to expose you! You must be the dumbest person on here! You fired (purged) people from your company because they voted a certain way. Please, Please, Please give me your name! I served twenty two years in the United States Navy and let me tell you, until you’ve been away from your loved ones fighting for something you didn’t believe in, but did so because you are an American, you can’t begin to understand a lot of the military’s plight! I’d love to send your statement to a lawyer so that we can see how intelligent you really are!
We have come a long way and have a long way yet to travel. For all of you who continue to have hatred in your heart, only God can heal that pain! As for those of you that think the Government paid for the lavish parties as you say, President Obama’s constituents donated those monies! For God sake give the man a break! He is not God, he isn’t a savior, and he is just a man! He will make mistakes, he is human and it is not he, who has gotten this country in the mess that it is in! He cannot undo something in a day that took 8 years to break! He’s only been in office for a day and yet you think he’s the cause of the stock market crisis! Get over it! He’s the President, whether you like it or not! I haven’t liked all the Presidents we’ve had in the past either, but guess what, I called them Commander and Chief anyway! Change is okay people! It will not get better over night. It took us 8 years to get here; it will take another 12 to get us out! Do the damn math! P. S. Bill, I am a retired Intel Specialists so I have ways gf gathering information!

Let’s see if he puts his money where his mouth is. He’s already spent Trillions on bailing out banks and the auto industry. Spent 150 million on the inauguration & events that followed. Why didn’t he spend the money bailing us out? Like so many of you Obama supporters waiting for their handouts? You’ve been suckered…You voted for him. Like Public Enemy said “Don’t believe the hype!”

Prayful 2009, just keep blaming Bush and everything will be allright. About $40 mil. was donated the rest of the $170 mil. will come from the taxpayers. Just so you know. He’s had his party. We will pay. Bill is angry over the absolute double standards of the democrats, their supporters and the media. People gave Bush a hard time for spending $42 mil on his inauguration, but $100 mil for Obama is A-okay. allright we get the message. I’m not leaving the country because Obama is president as so many liberals wanted to do when Bush got elected. They stayed, too. Obama became a millionaire during the Bush administration. His wife’s salary tripled to over $300K. Guess the Obama’s didn’t suffer cause of Bush. Get your facts straight. People will give him a chance even though he did not give Bush a chance at all. He campaigned on Bush hatred ever since his Senate days began. He can certainly dish it out to get votes, but can he or his supporters take it? If you are an intel specialist, you should be able to find poor little Bill. Give him a break. he has a right to be angry. No, I will not give Obama 12 years to get us out of this. No, I do not want Americans sent to Afghanistan to get slaughtered by butchers.

Joseph Lowery’s benediction is what one could have expected from the old guard (dinosaurs) of race-baiters who cannot live in the present, cannot see the double standard in front of their eyes, embrace their liberal roots of wealth envy!!! Without this they would likely disappear into the woodwork…
