4/25: Pickler in a pickle but Paris could be going home
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Kellie Pickler may be Amercia’s darling but she sure won’t be the American Idol after her past two performances. I think she’s starting to wilt under the pressure.
The bottom three? Both Taylor and Kellie are both due for a fall for the first time. And Katharine will join them. Who will go home? Sorry, Kellie. (These are my immediate thoughts before I see dialidol.com’s numbers.)
I must be letting my hometown bias toward Paris get to me because she is clearly at the bottom on dialidol.com (which measures busy signals) though Kellie is within shooting distance of losing. Kat’s in fourth, just ahead of Elliott. Taylor is currently the Ronald Reagan of the group— he’s Teflon proof! (Mike S was right!) And Chris is deservedly at the top.
“If you can’t cut it in my studio, you’re gone. It’s not softball, it’s hardball,” said songwriter David Foster. Andrea Bocelli was a pushover but fun to listen to.
- Chris Daughtry (Bryan Adams “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman”) — I hate this song with a deep passion. He’s going to have to do something extra to get me to like it. He’s almost making me like it. He is singing it with heart, with warmth, with style. It’s far better than Bryan Adam’s version. And that’s enough to give the top slot again to Chris. Randy: “Amazing!” Paula: “Love you!” Simon: “That was a very very good choice of song. And it was a great performance, very sexy song.” (He was the last one on and they had to rush the comments.)
Tie-2. Elliott Yamin (“A Song For You” by Donny Hathaway) His fans are apparently now called Yaminians. This was the first song he sang early on, he said. “I’m pumped!” he told Ryan. And he wants to give Donny some props. And one of the backup singers is Donny’s daughter. As David Foster said, it’s a very stylized song. Elliott is again in his element, very confident, very secure in this song. It’s very good but didn’t blow me out of the water. Randy: “Did not like the arrangement. It was overshadowing the vocals. But I love you. You were the bomb tonight.” Paula is crying. “You move me!” Simon giggles. “Seven weeks ago, I said in my opinion you are one of the best male vocalists we’ve ever had. In parts, that was a vocal master class. That was superb.”
Tie-2. Paris Bennett (“The Way You Were” by Barbra Streisand) — “She has volume like me,” Andrea said. She has that ’70s flip hair and opts for a signature Barbra tune. And she can handle it far better than Mikalah Gordon! It’s old fashioned but heartwarming. I enjoyed it! Randy: “I thought it was pretty good. I wasn’t blown away. I liked it. I wasn’ tover the top. You can sing anything.” Paula: “I felt you oversang it a little bit. But best female vocal tongiht. Simon: “Very good vocal. Bit old fashioned for my taste. I felt you were trying to impersonate an older artist.” Hey, Simon. Stop stealing my adjectives! :)
4 — Katharine McPhee (Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing”) — Kat’s taking on a major risk with Vonzell Solomon’s favorite song from last year when she finished third. But at least she has some operatic skills as she duets with Andrea Bocelli. And cleavage alert: she is finally wearing a decent dress! (A button pops at the bottom of her dress near the end but nothing shows.) Kat’s version is much mellower and vanilla than Vonzell’s. She torch sings it reasonably well with solid intensity. As good as Whitney? Or even Vonzell? Um… no. Randy: “I was a little bit worried this week. It was a good choice of a song. Keeping it real. It was too big for you… You’re talking about Whitney in the prime. That didn’t come close, I’m sorry.” Paula’s mike is off. “There were pitch problems. Last week, when you sang, you were in your zone, you didn’t push your vocals. When you sing in your natural voice. Yo udon’t have to oversing. Sometimes, you tend to follow up flat when you hit the power note… Your money is your intimate vocals.” Simon: “Very simple. By choosing that song, I am as good as Whitney Houston. You’re not. That was the problem. It was quite old fashioned and cabaret. You went backwards. You sing a Whitney song, you have to be as good. You are not.”
5 — Taylor Hicks (James Ingram’s “Just Once”) - Great song pick that fits him perfectly. Foster liked him a lot and he’s a tough cookie. Taylor’s charisma carries him through. It’s a wee bit too much like the original and in fact, not as good. After the David/Andrea buildup, I’m disappointed. Randy: “That song was completely the wrong song for me for you. It was like weird karaoke.” Paula: “There are sensitive sides for you… it wasn’t my favorite songs but you look as handsome as heck.” Simon: “You looked uptight tonight… you hear that every night every day of the week in hotel lounges, a performance like that. It was the phrasing, the performance as a whole. It was not a winning performance.”
6 — Kellie Pickler (Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody”) She’s single! “I’m lonely,” she said. Noting the song is from Ghost, she hopes to one day have a pottery partner. “I don’t have anyone to play pottery with,” she said, adorably. “What color hair does she have?” Foster asked Bocelli. “Blonde,” said the blind man. The song is one that Clay Aiken pulled off in season two. Can she? It starts sort of blah. She looks way too morose. She said during the rehearsal that she felt it was robotic. And it is. And dull. This could kill her. She could be gone tomorrow night after two bad weeks in a row. Even when she hits the high notes, she doesn’t show any emotion. And that rouge on her face doesn’t do her any favors. Randy: “There were pitch problems. The high note was in tune. It was very strange. Wasn’t the right song.” Paula: “I don’t see you raising the bar each week. I adore you. I think America has fallen in love. At this point, it’s about greatness. I didn’t feel that from you.” Simon: “That deserved tears. But for a different reason. It was like the neverending song. It was like it was not going to finish, so monotous and bland. There was no heart, no warmth from your vocal at all. You were like a robot.”

Elliott’s numbers are 1 866-436-5702 and 5708. I have only gotten in 3 votes in 13 minutes and I am hoping this is a good sign! He was AWESOME tonight… I think I’m officially a Yaminion now! :)

Tonight was by all means up and down. I have to say that last week I was worried about how everyone would do. Ok, the truth is I was worried that there wouldn’t be a song performed that I liked. :) My hunch was slightly correct. I cannot stand the Bryan Adams song Chris sang. Detest it!! However, Chris had me enjoying it.
I wasn’t feeling Paris tonight, nor did I really enjoy Taylor — which is a rarity. Katherine and Kellie didn’t shine. Elliott was good vocally as everyone said, but I didn’t enjoy the song that much. It was a tad on the boring side. My bottom three: Kellie, Taylor, and Elliott

After tonight, I would hope Kelly will be gone. She has her fan base, but how can they vote for 2 bad performances that were so boring, pitchy, and just off.
Chris did amazing tonight, I hope his fans vote more for him tonight than last week. He has got some talent.
Paris, though so talented and still my favorite singer, chose a song I felt would not attract any young fan base she may have had. I hated that song choice, although like I said, still think she has the most talent.
Elliot did well tonight, but I still don’t get why the judges are kissing his a*. I think he has hollywood connections big time and that is why he has made it this far. Even Kevin Nealon was cheering him on.
Taylor did pick a weird song for his voice, but I still think he has a really unique voice and will hopefully remain in this competition until the top 3.
Katherine did pick the wrong song. I think she can make it on Broadway, but tonight, she should have chosen a song that better suited her voice.

Sorry Rodney, this night belonged to Elliot. This seldom happens but I was in agreement with Paula, that boy made me CRY! His vocal was amazing. He is truly the dark horse (a la Kimberley Locke), and if Taylor doesn’t step it up….he could take the final 2 away from him. As for the rest, Kat did better than the judges gave her credit…she didn’t copy Whitney, GOOD! Chris was wonderful, but didn’t raise the bar. Same for Paris, good but now it’s becoming ordinary…we know you can sing….WOW us! Now for the bad ones….Taylor, what in the WORLD??? Just Once is one of my favorite male vocal performances…he just butchered it. Simon was right about the phrasing, that was bad…but then his vocal was okay at best. Truly surprised…but the “Soul Patrol” will keep him out of the bottom three, though he deserves to be there. Lastly, KELLY?!?!? Pack your bags chick. She proved tonight that she is the weakest vocalist…and after a second VERY bad week (a la Mandisa) she really NEEDS to go. Anyone else would be a travesty. My ratings based on tonights performance from best to worst. Elliot, Chris, Paris, Kat, Taylor, Kelly. What will probably ACTUALLY happen? Chris, Elliot, Taylor, Paris, Kat, Kelly. The girls are really hurting! The need to step it up!!!!

ELLIOT’s was the best vocal performance by far!
I’ve never “appreciated” TAYLOR’s Joe Cocker-like act! Nothing unique there. CHRIS’ movements between gargleing and yelling are annoying! Nothing new there! KELLIE, though entertaining isn’t as good a vocalist as many of the finalist who left early during this and all passed seasons. Give us a break, please! PARIS has a really nice voice, but in a world of very gifted black female singers would I feel compelled to add her cd to my collection? Probably not! KAT is a breath of fresh air, though her performance of “I Have Nothing” was jus OK! ELLIOT was the shining star on this night and I feel that he and KAT will be the two to beat in the long run! Who do I think will go home? KELLY or CHRIS!

A very good night overall with one Sour PICKLE.
Elliot - THE MOMENT! Best performance of the season. Absolute vocal Masterpiece.
Chris - IF you love Chris you loved this, Others will say it was just OK. I think it was excellent.
Paris - A beautiful understated performance. What an amazing voice, just not quite ready for the big time yet. She will be a superstar in a few years.
Taylor - Good, not great tonight. Enough to keep him out of the bottom 3 but not a WOW performance.
Katherine - David Foster hit it dead on the head — she is wonderful if she stays away from the big notes. You can’t sing Whitney without the big notes, and as such she was pitchy and schreechy on the big notes. Amazing vocal talent, but she continues to pick songs to big for her.
Kellie - WOW in a bad way —that was dreadful. To say is sucked canal water is an insult to canals.
Bottom 3 tomorrow - Kellie, Katherine, Paris. Taylor’s fans will keep him out of the bottom 3. Kat is in trouble unless Kellie’s fans finally open thier ears.

I thought Kat was the best. I don’t know the Whitney Houston version, so I couldn’t compare and was unbiased. But, c’mon, if Whitney had sang any of these songs during her prime, everybody would have paled to her. Taylor and Kellie are in serious trouble

Elliott was superb; he gave the best performance of the season — bar none! His voice is like a smooth cognac with just as much depth, soul, warmth and smoothness. His song selection is A-1! I have loved this guy from the beginning and tonight the judges finally got it! He is the real deal! Bravo, Elliott! Rodney Ho, with all due respect as the moderator of this blog, you need to listen more closely, you witnessed greatness in Elliott tonight; you’d better recognize!

Hey! I read the blog every week, but this is my first post. My rankings:
Chris - Excellent Performance! Elliot - starting to win me over. Kat - good, not great. Taylor - A bit disappointing for me. Paris - was it just me or did her voice sound different tonight? Kellie - Bad! Has to go.
After 2 bad weeks, I agree that Kellie needs to go. I’ve been trying to vote for Chris, but have only gotten through twice in the last 20 minutes.

People - Get Real - Taylor is not in trouble at all. He has the biggest fan base of anyone at the moment. Chris is liked by more, but his fan base his not huge — a lot of people (like me) vote performance based.
That said — Chris and Taylor are WAYYYYYYY out in front on Dial Idol. Elliot is fairly comfortable in 3rd. Kat is in the bottom 3 at the moment, but should be safe.
PARIS is in Last — she needs our help if we want the sour Pickle gone. I will post the Dial Idol rankings in 30 minutes (they have been deadly accurate at the one hour point) — if Paris is still last I ask everyone to burn up the lines for Paris to send Kellie home — this is our chance to get her off the show!
DO not be fooled if you are already calling for paris and getting busy signals — YOU ARE IN HER HOME TOWN!! Of Course the lines will be jammed — but trust me PARIS IS IN TROUBLE IF WE DON’T HELP HER!

What was up with Paula and Randy tonight??????????????
I did not think Kat derserved those comments from the judges. Did she live up to the “bigness” of the song, not quite… but who is Paula to say that someone is pitchy??? When did one of her albums get critical acclaim for her vocals?? Kat did just fine and doesn’t deserve to go home.
Speaking of Paula, what was the boo-hooing over Ellliot?? Did I miss something? Maybe she was crying because she realized her Coke cup wasn’t spiked as usual!
Chris was the best by far… wow, loved it! amazing!
America, please let Pickler go. I really like her too, but it’s time to let go!

When Paris starts singing, she pronounces some words so strangely…it bothers me.
Elliot was so good. He’s just getting so much better every time. He is indeed the dark horse, as mentioned above.
I couldn’t change channels fast enough to get away from Kellie. Good lord that was awful. VFTW be damned, she needs to go. And that hair?
Chris did okay, could have did better. They gave him the total set up, and its as if he forgot all the advice he got. He tried to get to “rocker” in the middle, and then remembered..”Oops, its a love song, bring it back down.” He should have laid down.
Taylor…sigh. He bored me for the first time. But what a suit! Cool.
Kat…err, um. I don’t know. It wasn’t THAT bad, but certainly did not bring down the house. Yeah, yeah…Dad cried, he always does. Did you catch the flash of her yellow underpanties?

I hear ya Mike S. Taylor is safe even tho he should prolly be in the bottom 3 based on his performance. I think ur right, Paris was awesome but could get booted over Kellie with her fan base. Im multi voting for Paris and Kat tonite.

Not sure what everyone watched but I will add my two cents. Elliot sang well but he never hits any big notes. Paris’s performance was near flawless. I find it odd that no one likes to credit her for that. Kat was not that bad. I kinda enjoyed it but it was no nowhere near Vonzie. Chris’s voice is annoying to me as well and I find all of his songs sound similar. Taylor..I liked now the the thrill is gone. Kelly is really really bad. Maybe the execs wont embarass the show any further with her. I could deal with any of the contestants winning minus Kelly and Chris

I’m still not understanding why people think Elliot is a “shining star.” And, I definitely don’t get why the judges thought he was the best vocalist by far when he was auditioning. He always sounded so flat, bland, and nothing special ever since I first heard him. The only thing I give him credit for is the fact he has %90 hearing loss and is still in the competition.

derrick, i agree…Paris’ performance was great, but she’s not raising the bar. Forgive the Fantasia reference, but she needs a “Summertime” type performance. Elliot had that kind of performance tonight…tonight was the night he made people sit up and take notice and REMEMBER his name. My only criticism was that he was a little bug eyed staring at the camera in some points.
But anyway, back to Paris. It is ridiculous if she goes home before Kelly. And frankly, I’m tired of the “age” comments from the judges. She is 17! Get over it. I can’t think of any GREAT love songs recorded by a 17 year old. So any song she sings (combined with her MATURE voice) is going to make her sound like an older person.

Sorry Mike and Rodney, but I have to go with Deirdre with one exception, I was thoroughly impressed with Elliott tonight and for the first time realized that he is the one with the truly unique sound.
Taylor’s appeal has entirely worn off for me. He has never measured up to the potential I thought he’d have and Chris, while a great rock singer, still does not out sing Elliott.
Katharine was much better than the judges gave her credit for being and most certainly out-sang Kellie, Paris, and Taylor tonight. Therefore, my list is:
Elliott
Katharine
Chris
Paris
Taylor
Kellie

I thought that Chris and Elliot were by far the best. Elliot has a great, controlled voice, but not much of a showman. Chris is the only one who reminded me that it was “love song” week. Paris has an amazing voice, and when I see the rehersals, I think its great, but when she sings it on stage she changes the sound of her voice and her word pronunciation is wierd. Taylor was not that good, and that song was a terrible choice for Kellie.

Achin - I think the difference is just vocal style preferences — I think Katherine screeches when she tries for the big notes. I love her sultry torchy voice, but she sings songs I don’t care for and sings songs way too big for her. My wife and I both agree - she does absolutely nothing for us.
NOW - My wife thinks Chris won hands down tonight with Elliot second.

What was she on again tonight? Stupid - Pickler - horrible HORRIBLE! Let’s send her home - Taylor - ho hum….. Paris - liked her a lot- Did she reming anyone else of Gladys Knight, look, vocals and all? I liked it - cant get through to vote for her - Chris - same old thing - why does he always need folks on stage beside him, or strobe lights? Not impressed with him… I hope Kellie leaves, with Kat and Chris beside her —- Rock on.

I usually think Paula is on something, but I swear Elliott had me crying before it ever showed her crying. That boy is a brilliant singer!
Chris - I really liked him, but I am past tired of AI giving him all the ‘concert’ props and lights, etc., more than the others, not to mention the ‘pimp spot’. Very nice job, though.
Taylor - The judges were all high in their comments to him. The only thing I might concede is that the verses sounded almost too low for him. The rest was great. He could sing the yellow pages and make me swoon.
Katharine - She was going great for me until she got to the big part - right about the time she thought now I’ll march to my left angrily in time to the music as I sing the lyrics ‘don’t walk away from me’. Downhill from there.
Paris - I loved her early on, but I am starting to get what her critics mean, and what Simon has said before about her being like a little wind-up doll. Her vocal delivery is changing … She’s overdoing the ‘covered’ tone thing, and the breath before the jazzy note that slides quickly into the actual note. Gets on my nerves lately. Flashes of greatness, but she needs to develop some more IMO.
Kellie - I believe even she knows it’s past time for her to go. One of her worst yet. And what was up with that pompadour do?

Has everyone lost their minds. (Including the judges, kick Paula off!!!) Just because Kat sang a Whitney song in NO WAY means that she thinks she is as good as Whitney. Maybe she sang it because she liked it? DA! Or…maybe if you listen to her talk she said it was written by the producer with Bocelli, could that be why she wanted to sing it! DA again. Kat is the only one with a great not just good voice. She’ll make a record no matter what.

Complain about Kellie’s singing all you want, but she isn’t leaving tomorrow. She’s hot, blonde, has great hooties, and is getting 100% of the country music vote.
Taylor or Elliott is in trouble. I see them splitting votes, because they appeal to the same demographic. At this point, it’s just a numbers game.

Kat1dawg, it’s not an easy thing to explain. The obvious stuff, his pitch and all that is virtually perfect. Then the intangibles … I love the actual tone of his voice. I love the way he sings with feeling — just the way he phrases words and, well, phrases, within the song communicates the emotions of the song perfectly to me.
If you think of performing a song as akin to acting, Elliott gave an Oscar-winner tonight IMO - I forgot he was performing! He was in that song, and he grabbed me and took me there too ~ which IMO is what singing with real soul is all about.

Whoa! Katharine is a HOTTIE! Yowzer! She gets my vote this week just for dropping my jaw.
But seriously …
Chris - the best. It is always his spot to lose. Barring an unforseen tragedy, he will be the next AI.
Katharine - aside from the afore-mentioned hotness, she really was not as bad as the judges made her out. I thought she was great.
Elliot - I am not an Elliot fan, but he impressed me tonight.
Paris - did okay. She was the best of the worst.
Taylor - just not his genre I suppose.
Kellie - sweet & lovable as always, but it is time for her to go (although, her fan base will probably see her through).

You know….I thought i’d offer my constructive criticism’s of each remaining idol….not just the one side what I love.
Chris - starting to bore, clearly a favorite and too comfortable in that position. Needs to raise the bar.
Taylor - his quirkyness has always been his moneymaker. Never really had AMAZING vocals…just a good entertainer. Doesn’t deserve top 2 billing, but he’ll get there just like Ruben did…and probably win.
Katherine - good voice for a pop idol, but too just too inconsistent.
Paris - best female vocalist left…but not trying to win it! She putting in a good showing. Agree with other comments that who knows what kind of album she’d put out…we haven’t seen the REAL her yet. I pray that whoever she signs with doesn’t take her down the “ghettofabulous” route that they did to Fantasia. Let her be another Nancy Wilson.
Kelly - no comment necessary…there’s not enough room to list her shortcomings.
Elliot - would buy his album in a heartbeat, but his charisma sucks. He tries…bless his heart. But it’s just not happening.
Frankly, I’ve never wanted my favorite to win since Season 2. That contract is a BEAST. Too much control.

I think Elliot was better tonight than normal, but normally to me, he has no pitch because he sounds monotoned almost. He has the least emotion to me when he sings and I hate his performances week after week. I thought he should have gone with the likes of Bucky and Ace. But, to each their own, you and I are definitely entitled to our separate opinions! Have fun!

Kat - It’s amazing how differently we can view the same singer, isn’t it? I think that’s what makes this show such a massive hit.
BTW, other things I didn’t mention that make me love Elliott, since they’re not performance-related … His humility, his sensitivity, his whole demeanor to me suggests that this kid has been an underdog for a great deal of his life. And now look at him go. sigh

I love Taylor and I think he has a great personality but I really think Chris is my favorite and should be on top tonight based on performance. I have enjoyed all but maybe one of his performances. Sing to Hamlisch’s great standard: Paris will be gone tomorrow night. They’ll be memories of her singing— you know the voting’s tight! Can it be that she was just too young— will she have screamed her last note? Will she prove that Pickle’s not so bad while Katie gets her goat?

Hearing the word “pitchy” is enough to make an intelligent person scream. It means: (1) covered with pitch, or (2) black. This is true no matter what that fraudulent non Phi Beta Kappa Ab-dull may have coined.
Also, even though this is a keen grasp of the obvious: Pickler is woefully ignorant of the origin of “Unchained Melody.” It existed in a film long before GHOST appropriated it.
By Songluvr

Dialidol must be taken with a grain of salt, especially now that each singer has 2 voting lines, but they have been eerily accurate most weeks. Somehow it works by measuring busy signals.

its on dial idol…but she has the fewest attempts.. therefore her percentage is lower because you can dial her more successfully. but the people who use this have only tried to cast 350k votes. I looked to some past results and i saw how they have been way off. Like when Lisa Tucker was voted off.. she was not even in the bottom 3 on dialidol..

God god - Nicole Jamrose has more lives than the Sour Pickle. HOw in the hell did that awful caterwauler make the Nashville Star Finale.
Anyway - Casey Rivers was amazing tonight — How Great Thou Art. We have talked about songs that were the MOMENT on Idol. Watch Nashville Star replay this weekend. Casey Rivers - How Great Thou Art is the very definition of a MOMENT!!! Unbelievable! And the last note gave me chill bumps.
That said - Chris Young deserves to win and he is getting my votes tonight. he has been head and shoulders above the rest all year, although Casey has turned it up the last couple weeks.

agreed, judge4u2….but i’ll wait until the kick off Pickler and say this is THE BEST top 5 of any season. The judges were horrid to Kat. I Have Nothing is my favorite song from the Bodyguard soundtrack. And I actually liked Kat’s version compared to Whitney. The key is she did NOT try to imitate Whitney. As R & P would say…she “made it her own”. That’s why I’m p** they dogged her with their comments so bad. Unfortunately all the girls will be in the bottom 3…only because Taylor’s “Soul Patrol” will save him. sigh….

Mike S, you and your wife need to really listen. I do have preferences but tonight the difference in the competitors was vast. Katherine was on pitch, excellent in her presentation. My rankings:
Chris - FANTASTIC tonight! Great song choice, great arrangement, great stage presence! He was the ONLY contestant tonight who owned the stage.
Paris - She sang the hell out of a truly classic love song. She had great control and reminded me of a young Gladys Knight!
Katherine - I thought she did a really good job with this difficult iconic song. Not sure what the judges were hearing.
Elliott - He did a really good job singing the song. He still looks nervous. He needs to do more.
Taylor - Why does everyone think he’s so great? He definitely wasn’t tonight. Simon’s comments were dead on.
Kellie - The butcher is back! Bye Bye (I hope)!

Actually Songluvr, the Programmer of Dial Idol decided that including the second lines would actually mess the numbers up more than it would help as the second lines very seldom have busy signals. I think it was a good call, and I think they will be pretty accurate.
Also, Derrick — the Week Lisa was voted off she was in last place after the first hour of voting, then climbed wildly after that. The DI programmer determined that after that first hour people started voting exclusively for who they thought was in trouble and as a result it was skewing his numbers. he has been tweaking the formula each week, and has been 100% accurate after the first hour each of the last 3 weeks, and was dead on last week and within the margin of error the week before for the entire voting period.

*Kelli didn’t get voted off last week, and she won’t get voted off this week either, due to the efforts of the website *votefortheworst.com. The site has chosen Kelli as the contestant to vote for, and urges all others to do so as well, each week (since March) in order to skew the results to advance the contestants that IdleHeads clearly want booted (see above posts). Their efforts have been clearly effective…and they will be this week as well. As HORRIBLE as she was, Kelli advances. I love it. What a great concept….voting for the worst to screw up the already ridiculous “competetion”. Ahhh…Life is good.

Thanks, Mike. That is good to hear! I was concerned that their predictions tonight might not be worth anything, just assuming the alternate lines were getting nearly as much usage.

I voted about 10 times for Katharine. Even at 10:30 tonight I was getting a few busy signals. I wasn’t able to vote for her until about 9:30’s House commercial break so I waited until the news. Anyway, I thought her comments from the judges were unfair, especially after watching Kellie butcher her song. Kellie should go and needs to go. Elliot and Chris are my other favorites. Predictions for my bottom three are Kellie, Elliot and maybe Taylor, simply from the judge’s comments. Elliot has got great talent but isn’t a huge fan favorite and Taylor just didn’t do it tonight. But that’s ok. Like I said, Kellie’s gone, most likely, so Katharine et. al. are safe for another week. Hopefully she’ll get smarter.
p.s. Simon is one sexy Englishman!! :-P
By Martha

It is becoming very apparent that the judges decide in advance of the show to give bad comments—I guess because they think it’s good TV…. It is annoying me and Paula has gone beyond the pale. Simon is the only one I trust anymore and that is just sooo wrong! Bottom 3: Kellie, Paris, Hicks. Kat was robbed! She is very good at selling a song if she is “on.” There was a night a couple of months ago that I believe she was not feeling well and she “phoned in” her performance. Elliot is the man! He is reminding me of Harry Connick, Jr. these days….only lots cooler. He is cool and confident when he sings but doesn’t appear like that in interviews.

So, I’m not understanding Simon…If you sing a Whitney song (Crack is Whack!) then you are saying you are better than Whitney? If you sing a Queen song are you saying you are better than Freddie Mercury? does singing a Stevie Wonder song declare your greatness over Stevie? Why does he come up with this stupidity this deep into the competition? And btw…Elliott was horrible and Katharine was awesome!
To declare Elliottt the best male vocalist is a slap to Clay…Rueben…Bo…hell, even a slap to Justin G!!!!

To me they all had problems tonight: Katharine (BTW what’s with the 2 puppies? I haven’t seen any contestant bring any poodles on stage…oh! those “puppies”!!!! never mind). She did not sng that song right - comparison or no comparison to Whitney.
Elliot. He would sing great If it wasn’t for his failing to seek a good orthodontist before the competition. I cannot truly appreciate how great he may be because of that. It’s not his looks that is the problem, is his mouth and only because it does not let him sound as great as he should sound.
Kellie. She did not totally murder the song, but that’s not her genre and even in Country music she needs a lot of improvement.
Paris. Her rendition was not great. She did some things in her singing that bothered me.
Taylor. Good at times in the song, but not a great performance.
Chris. He tried to sing a love song they took it the “Rock” way and I am not so sure it was that good.

Both Sites get the clues early on and then MJ has the insider that goes to the dress rehearsals. As soon as he/she posts who is singing what I post it here.

as for the Pea Soup recipe.
2 bags dried split peas. Soak in water overnight.
Put Peas, 1 lb diced ham, two chopped onions, 2 diced carrots, 12 cups of water —- season to taste. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 4-5 hours until peas are completely mushed.
Serve with crackers or fresh baked sour dough bread (gotta love bread makers).

I don’t know if this is fair to say, nor do I know if this is the right time. However…
I think if anyone other than Katharine or Chris win, the show will be a complete disaster. I’m not sure I could trust America to vote for anything. I think that’s probably why I didn’t watch Season 4. I don’t even think Paris or Taylor, even with their personalities, would be the best recording or best selling artists to come from the show. It’s like in Season 3 when everyone kept voting for Fantasia. I mean, seriously, does anyone really wanna hear that squaking for the rest of eternity? She reminds me of Macy “one hit wonder” Gray. ugh..Neway, just my thoughts. Probably TMI…

When Mcphee finished, Paula stood up and cheered. Then, when Randy dissed her, she did what she always does and rambles in some drug induced way and agrees with Randy. I still say save all 6 and vote Paula off.
Secondly, someone sings a song and the judges accuse them of playing it safe. They do Whitney and are chastised for trying to sing Whitney. I really don’t give a crap what Whitney sang like, Mcphee was wrongly ripped off by the judges.
Paris is not that good. And, she annoys me. Her mannerisms tonight reminded me of Bill Murrey impersonating a Las Vega Singer in the old Saturday Night Live.
Anyone on this blog that admits as a couple did that they loved watching somone sing so much that they cried are as emotionally unstable as Paula and probably have the same dealer.
The forced Genre the past 2 weeks are the only thing killing Pikle and Taylor, and also the only reason Mcphee and Yamin are suddenly doing well. Heck, have a disco night. Then Elliot would look as nerdy as the Corvais dude and Pickle would shine again. I mean geez.

I really, really, REALLY don’t get the Taylor thing everyone has. He might be entertaining at the county fair or as a wedding singer or something - but an American Idol? yech!
Do people feel sorry for him because he appears “old”?
Is it somehow “cool” to be on the “soul patrol” for someone that dances like Elaine from Seinfeld?
FWIW, I thought: 1) Elliot 2) Chris 3) Kat 4) Paris 5) Taylor 6) Kellie (needs to go now)

Seriously, a couple people sang well, no one provided an emotional moment for stable people unless it was their parent/girlfriend/etc… PAULA cried, I rest my case.

I hope not to repeat anyone as there were a lot of posts tonight, but I’ll put my 2 cents in. I’ll admit, I may be biased towards my fav girl & guy pick because they do not often vary. I’ll also note that Kat’s dress was poor fitting, even though her “assets” looked better than her lower half (what was up with that?). Distracting in a few ways… Girl Rank: Kat, Paris, Kellie, Guy Rank: Chris, Elliot, Taylor. Worst: Kellie. Mike, did you get my hopes up too high with that last post? The song order and selections were right on, but there must have been a major differance between rehearsals and stage.

This will be my last season watching the show. It is a joke. The judges comments on Kat’s song were shameful. My favorite of the night was Elliot hands down. I actually cried. There were three good ones (Elliott, Paris, Chris) and three bad ones (Katherine, Taylor, Kellie). I think Paris aand Katherine should have switched songs. David Foster was too funny. When he asked the guy what color was Kellie’s hair I died laughing.

Good Morning all, I missed the show last night, but thanks to all the blogs I am now confused about who did well except for my boy E to the lliott….. After last night, I really don’t think that there is a true idol among any of them. Elliott is not an idol type, Paris is riding on her next of kin wave, Chris, had one good night (that is all it takes now) Katherine will probably get an offer from a more dramatic producer, opera or classical, and Poor Kellie. American Idol is something that a girl from the hills of North Carolina dreams of reaching. Sure she doesn’t have a boyfriend, she doesn’t have much to choose from in N.C. She will be dropped and someone from Nashville will pick her up as well as Carrie Underwood. Kellie is the Cinderella of the show. Go Kellie.

If Kellie stay after tonight, then I know the show is fixed, and the votes don’t count, that “DUMB” blonde should have been gone, her acting is over. Paris is carring her weight, she can BLOW any thing or anybody song, Elliott and Taylor are my favorite male singers, Chris don’t rock with me, he seems to let his ability exceeds his confidence also, plus who want to IDOL a married man…….

Shaun,
Don’t be confused…..Elliot was by far the best, and I’m a Taylor fan…that boy Elloit can flat out sing with some soul and I hope he picks the right songs from here out…I hope Taylor can too….
I have NO idea why Taylor didn’t pick ‘You Are So Beautiful’ by J Cocker…..or some likewise song….
Kat was panned unfairly, she was tons better than the pickle. Paris was good too. Chris was good as well but I don’t get the hype.

Good morning everyone. If Kellie stays tonight then we have to rise up and do something about VOTEFORTHEWORST. Two horrible performances in a row should get her ousted.
I’m a little concerned about the dialidol numbers this week. I only used the contestants second numbers to vote. The busy signals were going well after 10:30 for everyone I was voting for.
Mike, I’m confused about something on dialidol ( and too lazy to look it up myself) when you look at the other statistic, raw numbers, Katharine appears to be way ahead of everyone, but they put her in 4th place. I know they’ve been right previously, but that doesn’t seem to make any sense. (from a normal, not math major standpoint)

Kat was fantastic. I don’t know what the judges were smoking. The puppies were barkin’!
Elliott gave his best performance ever. I really enjoyed him. He got 3 votes from me.
Paris trotted out her Gladys Night impression again. She worked very hard to get her voice to break in all the same places that Gladys does.
Chris was boring. It’s the first time I did not enjoy him.
Taylor - meh. His high notes sounded like he was trying to move his bowels. It did not, however, move me.
Pickler was awful. She should go home.

Good Morning Bloggers.
Well it looks like tonight will be a nail biter between Kellie and Paris. It looks like Paris leaving (which is a travesty), but Kellie is just close enough that Dial Idol still shows her as a possible vote off (Please please please).
Anyway, in keeping with tradition here are the fashion ups and downs with the help of Mrs. Mike
Katherine - The puppies were once again free to Roam. But after that the dress was way too tight. Nice granny panties line there, and to many bulges where there shouldn’t be. Accentuate the positive, hide the negative girl —- Legs = Positive, junk in trunk = negative. Again with the angry dark makeup. Girl you look perpetually p**, the world doesn’t suck that much. Bonus shot : We now know she wears matching color panties thanks to Fox low angle camera.
Elliot - Nice look overall, but either wear the tie right (tight=right) ot ditch it. The loose tie ruined an otherwise suave and debonair look.
Kellie - Nice (cough cough) hair. What the hell was that? It looked like the Cameron Diaz “Something about Mary” hairdo. LOL. Plus the make up was not great. But, I could tell she was female by the way her jeans were a fittin her. mmm mmm
Paris - Very nice. Loved the flip hairdo. Paris looked her age. Nice, elegant. Excellent, best she has looked all year.
Taylor - Loved the suit. Very good looking tonight. Hair looked a little darker tonight. Hmmmm.
Chris - Hands down the best. Looked extremely nice tonight. The open coller, tab shirt was perfect. Plus I am glad to see the beard coming back. You look best with the full beard dude, please avoid the stupid Superman Emblem sideburns.

Kat’s wardrobe malfunction wasn’t a near miss. My husband and I were watching, and when when she took that step near the end, there was definitely underwear to be seen (yes, we have TiVO and verified it). We were already worried about the precarious position of her clevage in that dress, it looked as though she might fall out at any minute. I don’t know, but if you’re wearing a dress that 1/4 of an inch can make the difference between censored and not, then maybe you might want to look at another dress. I suppose it’s one way to try and get votes!
Chris was the best of the night, with Elliot a very close second. And if y’all want to argue Elliott first and Chris the close second, that’s legit depending upon which style of music you like more I suppose. They were both very good, and they made the others look mediocre to terrible. Even my baby Taylor didn’t do it for me this week.
And I read they are doing an Elvis night… I’m sorry, but I am fed up with artist nights. Every time someone picks a song by a famous artist, the judges give them a hard time (“If you can’t do it as well as the original, don’t do it”); but then they go and assign them mandatory artist nights. ??? Go back to picking decades like last season, that was fantastic.

Deirdre - statistical analysis is why Kat’s numbers are worse than the raw #.
Yes, Kat has the most votes of the people who use Dial Idol. But her BUSY % is among the worst, and that is what he uses to project the places and determine the score.
Example : Kat gets 100 attempts, and is busy 50 times. Elliot gets 75 attempts and is busy 50 times.
Even though this shows Kat getting 50 votes to Elliot’s 25 votes, the reason is that it is easier to get through on Kat’s line. Ergo, less people are voting for Kat as her line is less crowded.
Since his sample is so small — 300,000 compared to 30 million, he can’t just take the raw numbers his people are producing as gospel. The sample is just not large enough. So, he extrapolates using the busy percentage, and other factors.
There is actually a forum on the site with tons of statistical wizards analyzing and tweaking. It gave me a headache going through it, and I am a math whiz. LOL

Here we go with another night down: 1a & 1b- Chris and Elliot. These were far and away the best two of the evening. The other 4 were not even in the same world as these two. Both picked songs that fit them and knocked them out easily. I think Elliot has the purest voice left in the competition. He turned in a vocal hit with this one. Chris again showed the “versatility” that so many complained he lacked. While I think Elliot has the better overall voice, Chris has the intangible of being a performer who owns the stage. 3. Paris- While I do not like Streisand at all, Paris picked the right song and did it well. There were a couple of small spotty places, but, she got through them and did well. She just lacks a certain something on stage right now. Possibly due to inexperience. 4. Taylor- Not the right song and not something that he seemed to get into. Vocals were just OK. Did not feel this song at all. 5. Katherine- The judges were dead on. The song was way to big for her, the arrangement was sub par, and her vocals were spotty at best. She has a great voice, but, this was not very good. 6. Kellie- Can it get any worse? This is two weeks in a row she has bombed. It is becoming apparant she lacks charisma and experience. She also has an average voice that has no diversity at all. Besides the vocals being horrid, this was a BORING performance. Wehereas each of the other contestants has something about them to put them in the top 5, her cuteness is no longer enough. Sort of like Sesame Street. Which of these things is not like the other. Which of these things does not belong? Easy answer- Pickler Unfortunately her ignorant fan base will still think she is wonderful and people will vote on popularity regardless of how bad they sing and Paris or Kat will probably go home.

Morning people. A brief read thru the comments and hear we go…
Yolanda was right. Taylor was Taylor. Unless he is hopping around on stage trying to entertain he is just not that good of a singer. Should easily be in the bottom three, but won’t be.
Kat was better than the judges say, but the comments were dead on. Don’t sing Whitney unless you can bring it.
Kellie, wow. That sucked. Again.
Elliot, good vocals. Too bad people don’t identify with you as a whole.
Paris, good performance, but needs to step it up.
Chris, brought the house down. Did a great job with a so-so song.
Bottom 3 should be Taylor, Kellie, and Paris. Will be Kellie, Kat, and Elliot. Hopefully Kellie goes home.

Morning all! O.k. here is my order of performances.
Who should go home? Pickler of course. Who will go home? Either Paris or Kat. Who isn’t raising the bar every week? Taylor. He is slipping away from me and after Paris leaves, my votes will move to Elliott. He is really improving each week and has become one of my favorites. Go Paris and Elliott.
Will someone please tell me how this dialidol.com thing works and how accurate is it?
Anddddddd,,,,,, what made Pickler think she could sing Unchained Melody? Hello???? We let you slide two weeks ago when you sang a Queen song that we thought you would butcher. Please don’t attempt Unchained Melody and you sing country music. Please send her home someone so that Kat can get her votes.

I beginning to see it like Dierdre….looks like Whose your Fav Producer/record seller night on AI…seems producers like to hype their stuff to sell albums even though they don’t advertise them that much, timing is usually right for record sales IMO…..even though I like Bocelli and some of the others, the weekly buy my record thing is growing old…..

I have to agree with Lisa S on the Elvis night. After listening to the judges rake Kat over the coals last night for attempting but not being Whitney…what are they going to say about the Elvis songs. YoD…you posted before I could—-I said to my husband last night about Pickler…Something about Mary!!!Not only did she sound horrible, but looked it too.
Chris was the best
Elliot-greatest performance yet-I like him more and more each week.
Taylor—completely disappointed, with the thousands of great songs to choose from he picks one that is boring, boring, boring.
Katherine—I liked it. I knew everyone would hate the yellow dress but, I love the fact that she is not rail thin. I think she is pretty; having said that (I too am a girl w/curves)—don’t wear yellow
Paris—not impressed at all. Feel ya’Deirdre, I don’t like her lower register
Kellie—sucked calamari and spinach! she needs to go home but, I don’t think she will.

Sorry Mike and others…..I just don’t see the Pickle making it in the music business……..30-40 years ago maybe…but.. when you compare her to singers today like M. McBride, Lee Ann Womack, and others, the pickle just don’t cut it in my book….I’d never buy an album of hers…. If she hurries she could do something like posing in Playboy, etc. and make some quick cash and gain some fame…..but fame/success won’t come because of her singing…….

I hear what you’re saying MikeS, but I view it as an “Idol” competition. Yes, singing is the focal point, but to be an entertainer, unless your voice is outstanding, you need to bring something else to the table. And who can bring more to the table than Kellie or Kat??

All I can say is that Elliot brought it last night!!!!
For me Kat did not do a great job on that song and I do understand the judges comments….If you are going to sing Whitney you better saanng it!
Chris did a good job
Paris was good as usual but I don’t understand why Simon would say it sounded like she was trying to impersonate an singer or something to the effect….get over the girl is 17 and like she said when she chose the song she had to chose an appropriate song for her age because she doesn’t have love songs she only has memories
Taylor is my man but his performance just didn’t do him any justice
No more comments on anyone else!!!!

What is up with the judges…..I guess they are not hearing the same thing as me. I thought Katherine was wonderful, as good as Whitney, ummmm, probably not, but she was great! I am also tired of the judges constanly giving all the praise to Chris……..he has a nice voice but not as good every week as they imply! Elliott was amazing…..Paris was good. I was dissappointed in Taylor, thought he was better than that! I wish Kelly would stop cutting herself down…..she has alot to be proud of, she has accomplished so much and has a nice voice. Yes, she should be the one to go….but Kelly, don’t agree with the judges so fast! She is a sweet girl…..so tired of everyone cutting her down….I bet they couldn’t do that well in front of millions of people!

Pickler was bad. Very bad. But, Kat was not all that much better. Problem is there are a lot of people out there voting their fave regardless of how bad they do or voting because they think someone is hot. Look past the fact that Kats puppies were hanging out for the world to see and listen to her vocals. They were not good. She was flat in numerous spots and the song swallowed her. Is she hot? Sure. But, this is a singing competition supposedly and she and Pickler were God awful last night.

I agree NoleMan. This is about singing. Yes, you should have the whole package, but there are a lot of people voting for their favorite regardless of how they are singing. That defeats the purpose. If Kellie stays tonight, that will prove my point. She is really getting on my nerves. She was cute in the beginning, but now she is just plain sickening!!!

You’re right Cap about Kellie. She needs to display confidence (even if she does screw up sometimes). I wouldn’t admit it, ever!! Walk out there and be proud. I mean, everone of them except one is going to be voted off at sometime. We’re talking about the cream of the crop here.

This year is definitely a guy’s year. Chris has had some amazing performances (including last night!). Elliott is an awesome singer as well. Taylor was bad last night but he has way more stage presence than anyone else. Kellie needs to go. The dumb blonde thing is over. She can’t sing. Get off the show. Paris and Kat are just kind of there for now. They’re good but they haven’t WOWed me.

I agree. If people voted for talent and not on their personal favs or who looks good, then Paris would not be going home tonight and Kellie would. Also, I am not getting the whole Taylor Hicks thing. I liked him in the beginning, but he hasn’t done anything in weeks. Why is he constantly in the top 3 if we are voting on vocals. He is just mediocre! Come on people. How accurate is this dialidol.com? I hope it’s wrong because I don’t like knowing who is going home before the show even airs. It takes the fun out of watching the show.

Kellie is 100% CMT and that is where her future is after being eliminated. She will make it in Nashville. Elliot is the most improved and may end up in the Top 2. The judges said Katherine was no Whitney. Darn right. Whitney has allowed her husband and drugs to destroy her magnificent talent. I would vote for Katherine to win it all, but I think the judges and voters have all decided that it’s gonna be Chris. Everybody left now is gonna make it.

I thought Kat did pretty well. IMHO. Elliot was good but I cracked up at Paula. hahahahaha, she’s CRYING????? Paris was horible, awful, painful. I’m sorry, I just don’t like her. She bugs me. Taylor let me down. He sounded good when he was in with Andrea but just didn’t quite deliver last night. Loved Chris. I have a bias towards the song anyway, and I’m so glad he did it well. Kellie, Kellie, Kellie. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.

I thought Elliot was great last night. Elliot will not when AI and I tell you why. He looks nothing like his voice and people would not give him the credit he deserves. Chris was okay, but they give to much credit though. I believe he yelled at the end of the song. Taylor was a little weak last night. Katherine was okay she did’nt really move me. Paris was good but for some reason they do not want to give her much credit of any kind. However I do feel she can care less of what people think of her. Paris looks like she doesn’t really want to be there. Has any one ever thought that maybe she want to leave? She knows that she will make it big very soon. As for Kellie she does not have much confident in her self. She shoots her self down before she even starts. If she gets confidents in her self then I believe should be very good one day. And Paula I just do not know what is wrong with her. Ther is something going on with her this season. Please reply if you agree with anything I wrote. However please respond with class. Thank you

I thought maybe it was just me. After al I had,Had a rough day! Somehow i wasent overly impressed last night by anyone. Kat’s version of Whitney’s song wasent all that bad to me, actually I enjoyed it better then any of her other performances. as for the comparison.there is ONLY ONE Whitney Houston, so of course No One is going to Sing HER song Better. As for comparing it to Vonzell, I didnt Care for Vonzell’s version. Kellie should have been gone 3wks ago. I told yall regular bloggers she has no improved over the past few performances-some of you didnt listen. Paris.. the shaking of the hair head like Gladys Knight does nothing to promote her Own Style. she copied Glady’s mannerisms too much, took away from her own identity. As I been saying give her a few more years, that way she will Find her ownself. Chris, I heard him from the bathtub(was taking a soak bath, he sounded ok..not really impressive. same with my soul man Talyor(the vocals I heard from bathroom, didnt sound all that good, probably his lowest performance thus far for me and hes my favorite. Elliot had the best confident performance and looked like he Owned the stage. and did honor to Donnys Song. Final grades..Kat B- Chris B Kellie F..Paris B- Taylor C..Elliot A.

Chris was great! The coach of the week messed everyone up, He had Katherine,Taylor and Eliott changing notes and pitches that did not need to be changed. The “stylist and makeup people” need to STOP. Poor Kelly looked like a clown TOO MUCH creamy rouge and her hair was very last year. Kat (beautiful) looked like Mariah Carey choose the too small dress. Stuff was over flowing everywhere. Paris just annoys me

I thought Elliot looked pretty good last night… his looks have improved… hated Paris’ song choice and her look…Kellie needs a huge confidence boost and bad song choice but I still don’t think she will go home yet…I thought Kat was pretty good… Chris was good…. disappointed in Taylor… he could have done better…not the best choice in songs. My choice is Paris is going home tonight with Kellie and Kat in the bottom 3

Good Morning Bloggers,
Wow, what a night. Can I just say how much I LOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE Elliott. “A Song for You” is one of my all time favorites & Elliott did Donny justice. I cried during the performance. I agree w/ Randy, the arrangement sucked. They should have kept it original or he should have sung it acapella. Absolutely superb performanance!!!!
Paris did a good job. I expected more from her but over all she did okay. Baby girl may find herself in the B3. Hopefully she will sustain another week.
What happened to my boy Taylor? The performance was terrible. Something wasn’t right. I think he will be B3, but he will survive.
Kat did pretty good considering she took on such a big song. I did catch some pitches w/ her. The dress was beautiful, but she defininately needed some Spanx on or something. Nothing worse than trying to look elegant and/or sexy w/ lumps. Uck!!!
Kellie……Can you say nails on a chalkboard? Come on people, this is the 3rd bad performance in a row for her. Send her home NOW!!!!
I missed Chris. Sorry, can’t comment. But I know he’s not going anywhere.

Go Chris! Go Elliot! Go Paris! actually I thought everyone did well except “The Pickler” she was sooo boring. The judges seemed a little harsh to me I thought Katherine did very well she’s no Whitney but she did a great job. Chris I think finally is getting more audience support he proved last night he is a great performer. Elliot was very good too I agree with what Randy said about not changing the song from the original. I think it put him in second instead of right up there with Chris. Paris was my third favorite she came across very well and sand the song flawless as far as I was concerned. Taylor was not there for me until the end of the song, he is a great entertainer but not up there with Chris and Elliot.

Danny, that’s uncalled for. Katherine cannot sing like Whitney Houston, and shouldn’t even try, bottom line!! Why do you have to bring anything else into it? Again, this is about singing. Whitney Houston will always be considered one of the best singers, period. If you are going to try to sing one of her songs, you better bring it. Same with Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, I could go on and on and on.

Wow, lots of interesting comments this morning. I was shocked at the “wardrobe malfunction”! Are there not people who pay attention to these things ahead of time. That dress on Kat would have looked lovely if it was one size bigger. Man, she had back fat in that thing, and I don’t think she normally does. I am tired of the puppies….puhleeze. Plus, she didn’t bring it, she was boring, focusing on her sultry looks a bit too much. Try not thinking about the camera and thinking about your singing. Also, am I the only one here that thinks her dad is creepy? They focus on her with her cleavage hanging out and then they show her dad crying!? Someone better take away his man card RIGHT NOW!
Paris was really off. I thought with her lower register I would like her performance, but I didn’t. And the way she pronounced memories really grated my nerves. Between that and the head shakes, I couldn’t take her performance.
Kellie Pickler is so tired. I am so tired. Can we please quit having the cutesy interviews with her!? She wrecked that song, it was painful, and based on that performance alone, she should be gone. And what was up with the camel toe? Come on, why do the jeans have to be that tight? Maybe if she could breathe, she could have sang better? Well, maybe not.
So, those are my choices for bottom 3. Who SHOULD go - Kellie. Who will PROBABLY go - Paris.
And I am a Taylor fan, but his performance left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Just awful….but his soul patrol will keep him alive. Elliott was good, I am not familiar with the song. But I am tired of his “warbling” tendencies. But he is looking better and sounded very in control. Chris was great, but yeah, why does he always get the rock star lighting?
Tonight should be interesting, with the vote off, sure, but we also get to see Andrea Bocelli sing - he is AWESOME!!!

I agree, Shay. It will be Kat or Paris. Kat has a beautiful voice, but when you sing a song like that. When you hear the name, you automatically think of Whitney. ‘A Song for You’ is a Leon Russell song…Elliot performed the Donny Hathaway version of it, and won the night. A great song, and Yamin gave it (and Donny) proper respect. Do yourself a favor though, and give a listen to Hathaways recording. The abbreviated presentation and bland arrangement did not do this great love song justice. I’m not particularly a fan of this genre, but Donny Hathaway is amazing. And Elliot is OK…(he almost pulls it off, although almost is as close as he will EVER get).

I can’t believe the bad comments and judging of Randy, Paula and Simon. The all seem like they were on some type of strong meds, especially Paula. Katheine picked a Whitney Houston’s Song, but she did a very good job, and did not deserve the comments of either judge. She has the best voice on this show. For Simon to say Elliott is one of the best male singer ever,is down right ridiculous. Kellie Pickler is long overdue, it is past time to say bye bye!

I am never right in guessing who is voted off I would hope Pickler but I have lost faith in the viewing public with her still on the show. My guess in the bottom three would be Taylor, Kellie and Paris. In singing performances last night popularity aside I thought Chris, Elliot and Katherine should be the top three. If I remember correctly Katherine and Chris were the only ones to get standing ovations correct me if I am wrong?

BT, I think Katherine deserved all of those comments and she definitely does not have the best voice of the show. Now that’s downright ridiculous.

The top 3 should be Chris, Elliott and Paris because they are the powerhouses in this competition and the rest should just pack up and leave but of course in America it want happen like this. These 3 have true vocal skills! Kat looked shocked when they told her she wasn’t as good as Whitney. Taylor was boring as hell. I actually thought Kellie did a decent job, just mediocre.

Tried to post last night about midnight but for some reason I couldn’t. Anyway haven’t caught in the blog yet but here is my view on last night and I have only read through midnight last night.
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to get my thoughts across.
First and foremost, oh my god Paula needs some serious help.
This is my friends and family views as well however I will rank them how I voted and note the differences. This is from about 10 people
2a. We have tie Houston and again everyone agreed but here is my look at it. Elliot For the first time this year I liked Elliot’s singing but I didn’t really like the performance. I wasn’t entertained and drawn in by his song nor was the wife. I don’t like the judges ooooodling over him either with this whole best male vocalist ever. Clay would run him off of the stage in a minute. He has about the same vocal talents as Chris. Also, everyone has beat up Kellie and Chris big time this year for singing the same types of song week in and week out. Elliot has been the biggest abuser of this the entire year. He has never sang country, rock, pop, etc… All he has ever sang is a bluesy type R&B song. Why has he not been challenged on this?
2b. Katherine I thought she was just as good as Elliot. The judges chastise her for not hitting big notes and Elliot couldn’t hit one if his life depended on it. He can just hold his range of note just as Katherine should. With that said, Katherine should not try to hit them and hold them as she can’t. Anyway her voice was beautiful and she didn’t deserve by any means what the judges did to her.
Taylor Again here all friends and family are in agreement. By far his worst performance and as I said yesterday he would not be able to hide the flaws in his voice since he would not be able to run all over the stage and make you forget about his actual singing. Also according to dial idol last night he was in the lead which is a disgrace with that performance last night. Again I ask which nobody on the board seems concerned with, is he untouchable? I certainly hope not.
Kellie Friends and family are split 50/50 on who was the worst last night. I didn’t think it was terrible but certainly not good. If she would stick to country or good lady rock and roll songs every week she would be fine. I can at least applaud her for trying different things unlike Elliot
Paris Last night she had the Bucky Covington syndrome. I couldn’t understand half of the words she said which was important as I wasn’t familiar with the song. In Simon’s words for the Pickle last night this was the never ending song for me.
My bottom three is above and I think Paris should go home. America will send Paris home with the girls in the bottom three as I am really beginning to think Taylor is nearly untouchable.
Chris gave the performance he needed last night and I certainly feel he gave the WOW performance for some not all. Many people do not like Bryan Adams but he can sing. When you come and sing better the Bryan Adams you have done something and Chris did it.

I really hope Kellie is on her way back to East Kabum…(y’all know the rest). That had to be one of the most boring performances I have ever witnessed. I was originally afraid for Paris and Elliott this week, but if someone had to go home for not bringing it talent-wise, I hope it is Kellie. I also forgot about Katherine singing in the beginning of the show after hearing Elliott,Paris, and Chris. Finally, Taylor hacked up a classic James Ingram song like he was trying to stop Shaq from scoring inside the paint. I actually thought he was going to pull it off from the rehearsal footage, but I was wrong.

No, peace, claiming that Kat has the best voice of the contest is NOT ridiculous. There are 3 great voices on the show. Paris, Kat and Elliot. There are 2 great performers, Chris and Taylor. Who wins this show is still a crap shoot. And EVERY week it’s a double standard. Kat was bad because she took on Whitney but nobody said a word about Paris’ failure to match Streisand. The judges spend so much time contradicting themselves that there is barely any time for the singers….which is why Ryan had to interrupt Simon. Paula decided last night that she was the ONLY judge and took up all of Simon’s time.

Yo Daddy, I think the only difference is Kat picked a Whitney Houston song. Paris’ song choice has been done by Barbra Streisand and Gladys Knight. Kat’s choice is synonymous with Whitney. When you hear that song, you think Whitney, period.

Hi Everyone! Wow..what a difference a week makes..last week we were (L)ace bashing and now it’s Kellie’s turn. It was pretty bad…she never pulled back or built up on Unchained…it was just belted, note for note. E to the Elliott! He has become a little cutie with his new do! And he his consistent. He may be final 3…he’s that good. Taylor was very off key and flat…but he’ll still go to finals because he’s a fave. All I can say about Kat is the same as everyone..what was up with the granny panny and lines?! uh thongs girlfriend? Missed the peek-a-boo cuz I was running my mouth and looked away. :-( Paris oversang the song. And our man, Christopher, ran away with the show. But we still didn’t get a WOW last night….

Alan did I read correct. You think Paris should go home and that Taylor is untouchable. If I had known you were going to type all that only to make that comment, I could have went to go refill my coffee cup instead of reading that blog. No, but seriously. Do you really think Paris should go home before Kellie?
It will be interesting to see where his (Ace) votes went. Obviously he had a huge fan base because he stayed week after week. If they didn’t go to Chris and he was in the bottom 2 last week, what does that say for him tonight? He did good last week too but still didn’t get the votes he needed to stay out of the bottom. Poor Paris. No matter how good she does, people just don’t like her. I don’t know why, but they just don’t like her. Well I can tell you this, if Pickler doesn’t go home before Paris, I am not voting again this season. I will just watch the show.
By Jex

Good point Jeff. I think Chris has a solid following anyway, but extra votes certainly won’t hurt.
And as much as I love Taylor, if he did go home, I wouldn’t be too upset. Because if he won this competition, the producers would try to deTaylorize and mess up a good thing. He just needed the exposure.

The previous entry was an excerpt from last night. Kat, Kat, Kat. I don’t think you know what you’ve got going for you.
Reality Check: As I have said before, Pickler is a pretender, wilting under pressure. Neither she nor Bucky will ever have a record deal. Their lot in country music will be TV talk shows, smoky bars, and Idol reunion tours. Chris has definately put himself solidly in the frontrunner position. I believe……. opinion here… the only one who could possibly beat him is Paris, if she survives tonight and then puts together a run of great performances. Chris is not going to slip. Taylor is, just as he did last night. Elliot did a good job last night. He should get as many copies of the DVD as he can round up; as that will be his last shining moment in the spotlight. I hope Kat sticks around just so we can see her let it all hang out some more.

Deirdre, I beg to differ. Again, I will say that “The Way We Were” was sung by Barbra Streisand and Gladys Knight. I think Paris did a great job. On the other hand, Kat did not. When you try to sing a Whitney Houston song, you need to bring it. Kat did not. Bottom line. And I stand by my comment that Kat does not have the best voice of the show. She may be one of the best, but certainly not the best.

Hi everybody! I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s comments the past few weeks. Now I’ve decided to join in the discussion. Here’s my thoughts on last night:
Katharine - She tried too hard. She was nowhere near Whitney - not even close. Keep in mind Whitney did this song when she was in her prime (before Bobby dragged her down, but that’s a different story). Katharine tried, but did not pull it off. End of discussion.
Paris - I love Paris! I don’t understand all the “hater”ation against her. She has a fabulous voice, and to be so young with a fabulous voice is rare. The song she sang last night was not my favorite one for her to sing. The key was too low for her. She does have a strong low register, but she really shines in her upper register. I still love her!
Elliott - I LOVE Elliott!!!!! I’ve been a fan of his since his audition. He has such a soulful voice, and he does it effortlessly. Everybody can’t sing Donnie Hathaway, and Elliott did his song justice.
Kellie - Ok - the girl can sing country, but that’s it. “Unchained Melody” was WAY too big for her. She was completely out of her league. And the high note was horrible!!!!! She did that section completely wrong. And if you’ve heard the recording, you would know that. She is a complete ditz and needs to go home 3 weeks ago!
Taylor - I’ve never been a big fan of his. He’s okay, but a little cheesy and dorky for me. Last night, he tried too hard. It did nothing for me.
Chris - Can I just say he is SO sexy!!! Ohmigod, I almost fell off my couch last night during his performance. He was….I can’t even put enough adjectives in here to describe his performance! Just awesome, fabulous, wonderful, fantastic, phenomenal…okay, that should do it for now.
Have a blessed day everyone! :)

Deirdre,
For me, Kat really took on a big song for the catalog of a “dangerous artist.” They’ve said time & time again - this season & others - there are certain artist to be careful with. Those are Whitney, Mariah, & ???. Kat took a big chance with “I Have Nothing.” She did well, I’ll admit. But when it came to the big notes, it got scary. Where the judges too harsh - Yes. But the thing is when someone takes on a song like that, you hear the original or infamous artist that sung it before you really hear the person doing there rendition. Honestly, I would love to her do it again over the original arrangement. As far as Paris goes, I caught bits of her performance and she did okay. Did she do Barbara - No. She did Paris & it was an okay rendition. Why the judges weren’t as hard on her - I’m not sure. I think the reason she got thru the judging was because that’s not a “big” Barbara song. It’s a low register song so there was no major or big notes to compare to. Overall, both ladies did well.

ok…bottom 3 for me taylor kellie and … well a tie between kat and paris, not that i think either belongs in the bottom… taylor was just boring, i thought kellie did ok considering what she was trying to sing, but it was sooooo far above her skills, and she is no leann rimes…. i’d rather paris have sung a song more in tune with what she’s done before, i didn’t like her choice and that affected how i feel about her song…kat i thought did a good job, i don’t like whitney so i didn’t try to compare her TO whitney, just listened to her own singing… i thought Elliott and Chris were phenomenal
i didn’t have a chance to blog last night, and won’t today, so see you tonight at the results show (i’ll be online during the show like last week)

Paris did not take on Striesand — she took on Gladys Knight and she did a dead on impression of Gladys. That is why the judges didn’t attack her, she nailed the version of the song she sang.
The reason they savaged Kat was because she ignored the great advice David Foster gave her. He flat out told her not to go for the Big notes, he even had her practice bringing the song down to her range. BUT what did katherine do, she tried to Belt it out and Match Whitney and she failed miserably. 90% of the song was perfect, but every time she reached for the big note she hit the earsplitting screech that myself and so many other people harp about each week.
If you have it taped, listen to Kat with Andrea Bocelli — that was absolute perfection. She was in her element and mesmerising. I have said over and over — Torch sultry low songs will make Kat a multimillionaire. If she tries Big songs with money notes she will fall flat on her face.
SOmeone said it earlier — Elliot has the same problem, he can’t hit the big notes — the differnce, Elliot KNOWS he CAN’T and he doesn’t try. He brings the song to him, Kat tries to reach the song.
That is why Kat fails and gets dinged for it, while Elliot gets praised for staying within himself.

Randy: Dude, yo man, listen up; it’s like this: song selection, song selection, song selection. Paris did alright with her song, but the song is old! Kat did alright with her song, but Foster produced that for Whitney. And I know, I’ve worked with Foster. Don’t bring his masterpiece up in here and try to rip on it. It just ain’t happenin. But you did have a couple of things going for you. Word, dawg pound? I’m talking D cups for Dawg pound. Woof, Woof, Woof. Everybody else worked it out pretty good. My man Chris, you’re the bomb, dude. The bomb.
Paula: (sniff, sniff) *gulp gasp * sniff, sniff. When something moves me,(sniff, sniff), it really moves me. And I’ve got to say tonight, (sob, sob), I’ve lost my crack pipe! (breaks down uncontrollably)
Simon: I would just like to say that I’m glad we finally have someone besides me who knows about the record industry. David Foster told all of you the bloody truth. It’s not softball, this is the music business and it is bloody hardball. Tonight I just really don’t think any of you get it. This is showtime, and the only one who really showed us anything tonight is Katherine. And I really liked what you showed us, although your singing was just OK. Someone get Paula a bloody crack pipe or something before I have to subdue her over here. Makeup!

Good Morning shay, actually I think Kellie should go before Paris as the last couple of weeks her performances have just been that bad as we all know. However, in our great country Kellie is viewed as a sex symbol so reality tells me she will probably make it another week even though I do not think it should be that way.
As for Taylor being untouchable that comment was made because of the dialidol numbers. Each and every week he has been in the lead and he has not been the best in a week in a long time. Seems like that is worth discussing and his Soul Patrol may make him untouchable.

As much as I love her Kellie, it’s time to leave the building. You’re sweet and funny but my dear the end of the road is near. As a female I hate to say it but the bottom three should be the 3 females with Kellie going home. Why did she ever think she could sing that high note, oh lordy it was painful. No one should try to belt out aWhiteny Houston song that she sang in her prime, you’ll just look like the ametuer you really are. Paris was the best of the girls but not better than the guys, sorry.

I know this is totally off the topic and has nothing to do with with his talent..but is it my imagination or my tv that Elliot looks so short and tiny? My gosh I know Ryan is a Little fellow, but standing next to Elliot it he was clearly taller almost by a head! wow.but he has a very likeable voice. not markable or with an Idol image. He is no idol accorrding to certain standards. but clearly has a voice and handles the stage like one of the old crooners like Tony Bennett,Bobby Darin(I would love to hear Elliot sing Darin’s Beyond the Sea..I think he could handle that nicely..again good job on his soulful version of Song for You..Now I also want Elliot to tackle “What You Wont Do for Love” the little munchkin clearly has a Voice.

oh yeah, and i realized right away that P wasn’t doing the Nose, she was staying true to her heritage, which is NOT a racist comment, because i think the girl can sing most anything, but she’s got that big sound that aretha, gladys, dinah, etc etc had (have) and she is best when she just is herself, imho [did that make ANY sense? since herself is an amalgamation of so many voices? oh well i know what i meant, so i guess that counts…]

Radio Station in Chicago is reporting that Paris has been voted off. They supposedly have an insider who called and said that the cleaning crew was told to pack up Paris dressing room and clean it out. Can’t verify it any more than that, just a radio report.

Even my ten year old asked me what was wrong with her last night when she started crying. They can make up some excuse about an ill relative in Tasmania, something…just boot her of before she really does something just totally of the wall and crazy and everyone will be saying to Fox…have you not been watching this drunken trainwreck all along? About Elliot being the American Idol. Here is exactly why Elliot will not be your next American Idol. The only other contestant in prior years to compare his to is Clay and for many reasons. Yes he can sing but as good as Clay. NEVER!!!! Clay, best “vocalist” ever on the show. Elliot probably second best “male” vocalist. Clay nerdiest/skinniest/overall least unattractive guy in the final group ever. Elliot as someone said earlier hobbit/second least unattractive guy in the final group ever. If Clay couldn’t beat out Reuben I see know way Elliot can beat out Taylor, Kat or Chris.

Actually GEH , the best thing that could happen to Paris would be not to win. She is just not quite ready yet, and the Idol people will try to make her Fantasia Jr. Paris is much better than that, and will be a superstar in 4-5 years — BUT she needs that time to mature and find herself. Right now she is just a good imitator with and amazing voice.
Paris even said that herself last night. She said that she picked memories because she really can’t relate to a LOVE SONG but she at least does have memories. The girl is gonna be huge one day, but this is not the day, she is just not quite ready for primetime yet.

This is my first time to post. I’ve only sporadically watched the show this year, but this is my take on last night.
Elliot - getting better all the time, may just pull it off as more people take notice.
Chris - didn’t care for his song on Queen night and was expecting to be grated last night. What a pleasant surprie. He did great.
Taylor - didn’t do it for me last night.
Kellie - Wasn’t as bad as last week, but I think Simon finally took his glasses off (or maybe he broke them when he banged his head on the table last week during BB&B) and turned on his hearing aids. Dumb Blonde will only take you so far.
Kat - She did great, a lot better that the judges gave her credit for. Thanks goodness she’s not Whitney. It would be a shame to see another beautiful woman with a great set of pipes go to waste like she has.
Paris - I know a lot of people won’t like this. She has a good voice. She just doesn’t have her own style. That’s why she leaves me and millions of others feeling blah. When you talk about karaoke and copying another artist, that is what she does… Unless she comes into her own, she’ll be just another good voice with people scratching their heads and wondering why she didn’t make it. That is if she even wants to make it. She should follow her own dreams, not those of her mom and grandmother.
Kellie should go home tonight… Paris will.

Sissy, I agree with you it seems to me that the judges never seem to give Paris her due. I am a fan of Barbara Striesand(sp?)or any of her music for that matter but, I think that Paris has a wonderful voice and she did a great job. The judges seem to be stuck on the fact that she is 17. So what if she is 17, she has a grown-up voice. GET OVER IT! If they are so concerned about 17 year olds trying to be to old, maybe they should only let people who are 18 and older audition.

There’s is absolutely no way that Kellie - even at her best, which is pretty bad - could make to an on-air performance at “Nashville Star.” No way. They’d stop her after her initial audition in a performance that, thankfully, would never be aired. Plus, I doubt she’s much of a songwriter.
That said, because of votefortheworst.com, American Idol’s producers gaming the show for ratings, and brain dead voters, it looks like Paris, one of this group’s best singers (although I don’t think she’s going to win), might be going home and Kellie will be staying.
If that’s the case I’m never watching this claptrap show again. It’s not sour grapes over losing Paris to a pathetic off-key amateur. I appreciate talent. And that’s why I’m sticking to “Nashville Star” where there’s real talent - singing, songwriting, and performing.

Kellie or Eliott should win it all because they are the ones who need the most help. They could actually mold them a little. I agree with Mike S. Paris just isn’t ready. I don’t know what to do with Kat. Chris and Taylor just needed exposure, but we all know that Chris has this one hands down.

Eve,
Ken is right. Danielle is the ghetto one. In all honesty, she’s “ghetto” by the way she speaks. She’s not very articulate which could possible hinder her in the business. All in all, I love her. She’s a natural beauty that delivers (I still say she shouldn’t get her gap closed). Mostly, her pictures have almost flawless but Furonda is catching her quick. I like Furonda but she definately need to work on her skin. That could hurt her too. I have to admit when I first saw her I was like “how in the world did she make it.” But it’s like the Ugly Duckling Syndrome. She has truly bloosomed. Nneena is losing her edge. She really needs to step it up & show her personality. I love her but she’s coming off “cardboard cut-out.” Nneena has great potential, but her personal issues are really hurting her. Jade is just a drag queen (Ms Jay’s words, not mine).

Hey, just got back in from taking the pool cover off….good thing I was gone, i got trashed:) Okay, I concede to your opinions regarding Kat/Whitney vs Paris/Barbra.
Regarding the rumor….don’t you think Paris would notice before tonight’s show whether or not her dressing room has been cleaned out? The chances are good that Paris is leaving, so that’s a pretty safe rumor. There are maybe 2 people here who have expressed ‘hate’ for Paris. Everyone else either loves her or likes her and loves somebody else. If she leaves tonight, it will be awful but only because she shouldn’t go before Kellie….Kat will probably go before Kellie and Elliot. They are all (but one) going to lose the competition. My favorite hasn’t won since Kelly Clarkson but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the talents of all the winners. It isn’t all or nothing here. They are all getting a tremendous amount of exposure. It will be up to them what they do with it.

I do have to agree with the fact that PARIS being booted is just that a rumor. When she goes to get dressed and notice that her things are packed up, why even go thru the hole song and dance of the result show just head for the airport? with that said, everyone one before her knew they will leaving the show, and no one left for home? everyone stayed for the pony show? come on. I do believe she is in danger tonight (song choice, song choice bad) memories what the he— ? Kellie should leave tonight, her fans should do her that favor if they really support her. It is very clear now she is WAAAYYY out of her league. Keeping her around is just making her look even worse.

Paris going before Kellie-you have got to be kidding. Kellie has had two bad weeks in a row. Cut young lady with a good voice but it’s over for her, Paris is young and shouldn’t end up in even the top 3 but far out sang Kellie last night. Cat is showing us- big time- that even she thinks she needs more than her voice…why great voice forget the T&A. Elliot is great, Taylor is a hoot but not idol material. It’s Chris all the way and if this is not the year that a rocker wins there needs to a separate show “Rocker Idol” or something.

Wow…way too busy at work the past couple of weeks to blog, finally have a moment…
Chris was completely in control last night…of course, I thought he was excellent last week and he still ended up in the bottom three. Definitely the best overall performance of the night.
I thought Kat was much better than the judges said. Maybe it was that dress. I have knots on my head from my wife hitting me after the 40th time I reran the VCR to the spreadleg part towards the end.
Paris was good as always, but I just don’t like her.
Eliot blew me away, and I don’t even like him much. He is an amazing vocalist, but has the personality of a turnip. But last night may have been one of his best. This might be the kiss of death though. Bucky was voted off after his best performance, same for Ace. We’ll see.
Taylor once again was dull at the beginning, and ended with a bang. I am starting to lose my fascination with him though. Chris and Kat are now my picks for final 2 based on talent, Chris and Taylor are my picks for final 2 based on what I think America will do.
Kellie…well, how she ended up NOT in the bottom three last week is beyond me, and after last night, if she isn’t gone, then America is a tone deaf idiot. She is cute, she is pretty, and she is not a good singer unless it is country or something resembling country. I have two words for Kellie…Nashville Star.
What’s up with Paula and that crying? I felt like I was gonna throw up at that point. What a goof ball. And we have three more contracted years of her lunacy?

I hope that everyone stating their opinion that Kellie should leave before Paris, picked up the phone last night and tried to make that happen.I do not think Kellie should have lasted longer then Mandisa,or Bucky. Paris is going to be a star W/O AI , so will Taylor, and Chris. Kat and Elliott need the most help so either of them should take advantage of what AI has to offer. Remember Kat can only sing in a low key, anything higher is a mess. Elliott needs some grooming, and a little polish.

The Mandisa was a great singer, but her obesity will unfortunitaly got in the way. Sadly people will vote on her looks instead of her voice. The Mandisa deserved better.
Just as people will vote for Kellie and Kat because the are extremely attractive. The Mandisa got hurt there.

Leon did it I believe in 1970 or 1971. He was the writer, it was after his album (and I can’t remember the name of the album) came out that the Carpenters released it just a few months later (they had a fairly sizeable hit with it, I don’t think Leon even released it as a single), then I think Hathaway did it in 1973 or 1974. I might have the years wrong, but I am fairly confident on the time frames between releases.

Good evening Bloggers, Wow so many blogs to read, my head is spinning! Well Elliott sure made me watered-eyed! I love Donny Hathaway’s music, great shout out to his daughter singing the backgrouds and go Layla Hathaway, the whole family can blow. The top 3 for me were Elliott,Chris, and Paris, bottom 3 were KAt, Taylor and Kellie, all in that order. The sour Pickler was singing as if she was ready for the song to be over because she knew she had killed the song, the song was so boring and I was just like Simon, mannnn when is this song going to end! I have been singing Elliott’s praises all along, he has not let me down yet. You all know that the Sour Pickler works my nerves but I think you all see why I was saying that, I knew she was going to break under pressue, she knows that she cannot keep up with the rest of the talent in the competion. Taylor is not raising the bar, he is beginning to sound like blah, blah, blah… Chris was looking cute as always! Rock on Chris, PAris, and Elliott!

I wish there was a way to limit the voting calls to one call per number, or one text message per number!! This isn’t a contest of talent. It’s a contest of how many times you can vote for one person!! There was a woman who called in to Star 94 last week who said she was able to call in 179 times for Kelly last week. They asked her how long it took her and she said the full 2 hours. That’s how many times she could hit the redial and vote for one person! Imagine if it was only one vote per phone number! Then we’d get real numbers. Bottom line, who cares who goes off which week. If they’re any good any of the final 12 can walk away with a recording contract. Only one ends up being the actual “Winner”. Personally, I think that person will be Chris.

I think Greg likes Bucky….
Mac Music, you are spot on. Mandisa certainly should still be here and eveb Bucky was better than Kellie. Outside of country, she has struggled. Even though Bucky had pitch problems, his Queen song was rockin and proved he could go outside his genre. Kellie is a cutie but the buck stops there.

Sorry I’m running behind on my weekly blog. Way too busy at work today. Mike S, as usual, you’re on the money. I don’t think Paris deserved to be in the bottom 3, although I think she could have chosen a better song. I would like her to choose a song that her fan base (i.e., the market for her age group) would like to hear and would likely buy if she recorded it. I absolutely LOVED Chris last night. It was like an updated version, if you will, of Bryan Adams’ original. My bottom 3 were Kat, Kellie - and I’m sorry to say - Taylor. Pitch problems by all 3. Kellie SHOULD go- 2nd botched job in a row; however, in listening to the “morning after” discussion on Star94 this morning, it looked like Paris was in trouble. This is a minor tragedy, but I think Paris, if she should depart now, will land on her feet very quickly. She’s recordable now, but needs better guidance in song selection. I guess we’ll find out tonight.

what kills me is how many times a performer sings a song, and then gets told “well, you’re not Whitney-Mariah-Barbra-Celine (take your pick)”. Of course they aren’t. Who would want them to be? Do we really need another Whitney sound alike in this world?
The key to me is…did they stay on pitch…did they sing the song with feeling and passion….did they make me like the song…THAT is what makes a good performance.
I have heard lots of songs that the finalists have sung and thought the original was still better. Does that mean the performer failed? NO!
Queen night…come on, who in their right mind actually thinks ANYONE can sing those songs as well as Freddy Mercury? Yet, most of the songs were still great.
And I thought Kat sang the Whitney song very well. Sure, Whitney’s version is better. But why is it that, according to the judges, you are only required to be better than the original if you are singing a Whitney-Mariah-Barbra-Celine (take your pick) song?
Kat’s response to when one of the judges said “you just aren’t Whitney” should have been “is that before or after the crack addiction?”

Kellie needs to go, she is just as fake as a blow up doll. I hope she goes but being that our society bases everything on looks like depth she will probably last. Now that would be a shame.
Taylor - Let’s be honest he couldn’t sell records if he were crowned. Plus he isn’t as confident as he was at the beginning of the show.
Chris - Seems to have lost some ground over the last 2 weeks. He needs to get back on track.
Elliott - Did a good job but he needs to get to orthodonist to fix those teeth. Also is it me or does this guy clap for everything.
Paris - Great voice but it doesn’t seem as though she can connect with the audience.

I think media people try to scare or stir up the AI audience by reporting who’s going to get voted off and saying things like the final 3 is going to be a shocker or the people are going to be oh so shocked when they find out who’s going home. Last week they said it was going to be a shocker and no one was shocked when Ace left. Whatever source said that they packed up Paris’ stuff out her dressing room, they’re doing the same thing I think. Isn’t it supposed to be a surprise if you get voted off, an empty dressing room would make it obvious wouldnt it? But all at the same time, I personally wouldnt be ‘shocked’ if Paris goes home, disappointed maybe, but not shocked. I will be shocked if Kellie goes home, shocked and excited!

Well i will say this about the rumor concerning the dressing room being cleaned out. There are times when adminstrative things are happening that a hint to who’s leaving is revealed. I remember when Fantastia and Diana were the 2 finalist. On the day of the final Diana was told that she would singing “I believe” first. She said in an interview a day later that it was a hint to her that she had lost, because why would the winner sing the song first and not last to wrap up the show.

okay…my joke of the day….
Bubba died in a fire and his body was burned pretty badly. The morgue needed someone to identify the body, so they sent for his two best friends, Homer and Earl. The three men had always done everything together.
Homer arrived first, and when the mortician pulled back the sheet, Homer said, “Yup, his face is burnt up purdy bad. You better roll him over.”
The mortician rolled him over, and Homer said, “Nope, ain’t Bubba.”
The mortician thought that was rather strange. Then he brought Earl in to identify the body. Earl took a look at the body and said, “Yup, he’s purt’ well burnt up. Roll him over.”
The mortician rolled him over and Earl said, “No, it ain’t Bubba.”
The mortician asked, “How can you tell?”
Earl said, “Well, Bubba had two *ssholes.”
“What? He had two *ssholes?!” said the mortician.
“Yup, everyone knew he had two *ssholes. Every time we went to town, folks would say, ‘Here comes Bubba with them two *ssholes.’”

Hey all, let me giva ya another joke. Sorry for all caps but it is from an email and I am not going to retype it:
THE PLANE IS ON ITS WAY TO HOUSTON WHEN A BLONDE IN ECONOMY CLASS GETS UP AND MOVES TO THE FIRST CLASS SECTION AND SITS DOWN. THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT WATCHES HER DO THIS AND ASKS TO SEE HER TICKET.
SHE THEN TELLS THE BLONDE THAT SHE PAID FOR ECONOMY CLASS AND THAT SHE WILL HAVE TO SIT IN THE BACK.
THE BLONDE REPLIES, “I’M BLONDE, I’M BEAUTIFUL, I’M GOING TO HOUSTON AND I’M STAYING RIGHT HERE.” THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT GOES INTO THE COCKPIT AND TELLS THE PILOT AND THE CO-PILOT THAT THERE IS A BLONDE SITTING IN FIRST CLASS THAT BELONGS IN ECONOMY AND WON’T MOVE BACK TO HER SEAT.
THE CO-PILOT GOES BACK TO THE BLONDE AND TRIES TO EXPLAIN THAT BECAUSE SHE ONLY PAID FOR ECONOMY SHE WILL HAVE TO LEAVE AND RETURN TO HER SEAT. THE BLONDE REPLIES, “I’M BLONDE, I’M BEAUTIFUL, I’M GOING TO HOUSTON AND I’M STAYING RIGHT HERE.”
THE CO-PILOT TELLS THE PILOT THAT HE PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE THE POLICE WAITING WHEN THEY LAND TO ARREST THIS BLONDE WOMAN WHO WON’T LISTEN TO REASON.
THE PILOT SAYS, “YOU SAY SHE IS A BLONDE? I’LL HANDLE THIS. I’M MARRIED TO A BLONDE. I SPEAK BLONDE.”
HE GOES BACK TO THE BLONDE AND WHISPERS IN HER EAR, AND SHE SAYS, “OH, I’M SORRY,” AND SHE GETS UP AND GOES BACK TO HER SEAT IN ECONOMY.
THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT AND CO-PILOT ARE AMAZED AND ASKED HIM WHAT HE SAID TO MAKE HER MOVE WITHOUT ANY FUSS.
I TOLD HER, “FIRST CLASS ISN’T GOING TO HOUSTON.”

Songwriter it seems as though your taking this to serious. Now I never said I didn’t like Pickle Head or Airhead whatever you want to call Kellie. I just think she is not as talented as the rest. I gurantee if you take her to Clive Davis, L.A Reid & other top producers they would probably say yeah she could sell a couple of thousands just on looks but at the end of the day she’ll never go platinum because she lacks depth & can’t sing. You know what the saddest part about is she’s out of her element, she should’ve been on CMC Idol (Country Music Station)where she would have blow the competition away.

Bloggers I’ve been thinking about the last 4 seasons and I want everyone to go with me on this and think about it as well….do you really think that they are going to let paris go tonight? I’m asking this question because I want all of us to be realistic about the society we live in. You can agree with me or not, I will truly understand here I go (don’t beat me up to much) every season it gets down to final 3 and in every case you will not have total all white, black or any other ethnic group, what I’m trying to say is they will keep paris at least until the final 3, no she will not win but to keep the peace. If they let her go tonight, (mark my words) there will be an outcry of people using the race card (I’m not using it). Do you think AI wants that to happen….NO….it’s just like ANTM for the past seasons they get down to the bottom and it’s a black girl or white girl you might have white girl win two seasons and the next season if a black girl doesn’t win all hell will break loose and vice versa. Ladies and Gentlemen I just want us to think about the big picture here’s where my personal opinion comes in…I don’t care what color you are, what size you or what kind of teeth you have, if I’m suppose to be judging for your singing (some will say you have to have the total package but it’s not always the case), then that’s what I’m going to do because down the line if your good you will make the money to fix the things that you feel you need to fix. I’m not saying that tonight’s result won’t result in the fact that Paris may go home but if AI wants to do there marketing well they won’t let it happen and when I say marketing before everyone jumps on me they have to reach everyone. I know this may spark some debate and it’s ok, I will just repeat what an earlier blogger said…respond with class and correct me if you feel I’ve presented some false information.

After watching both AI and Nash Star last night, I would have to say that I don’t think any of the remaining AI contestants can touch tthe top two on NS.
Chris Young done a cover of Toby Keith’s “Rock You Baby” & Casey River sang “How Great Though Art”
When it comes to the “puppies”, it would be hard for Kat to run with the “big dogs”. After Casey finished singing “How Great Thou Art”, Anastasia raised both her arms in the air and we almost saw “How Great They Are”.

Ok, this will probably get me banned for life, but here goes my favorite joke -
Two gay men have a baby. (Don’t know how - not important). Friends come to the hospital to see the baby. They look into the nursery and see dozens of babies, all screaming their little heads off, except for one little boy who is smiling and gurgling contently. One of the guys asks the nurse to point out the little gay baby. She indicates the quiet happy boy. The queen asks, rather smugly, “So tell me nurse, why do you suppose all the straight babies are screaming and crying and the gay baby is so happy and content?” The nurse replies, “Well if I took the pacifier out of his butt, he’d be crying too.”

Jeff, I beg to differ. Diana had a nice voice, but she did not compare to Fantasia’s. They weren’t even in the same league. To me, that’s not a racial thing. It has to do with people’s personal choices. People like music that they are familiar with. I love all types of music because I have been exposed to many different types, but that has nothing to do with race. Just different experiences.

Please, please don’t stereo type just basing this on our society. It’s something for all of us to think about whether we want to or not.

IT IS TIME FOR PARIS TO LEAVE. SHE HAS NO CHARISMA AT ALL. PICKLER IS NEXT. ELLIOT NEEDS THIS COMPETITION. HE MAY NOT HAVE THE LOOK OF AN AMERICAN IDOL, BUT HE HAS THE HEART AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE VOICE!!

Yes, Jeff. That’s true. Most R&B artists have roots in gospel music. It’s a different genre, but “Summertime” is what won Idol for Fantasia. No screaming was involved if I remember correctly. She has a great voice. Diana has a nice voice too, but it’s just different. Fantasia gives me the whole show. Diana just never did that for me. She can sing, but I found her to be boring.

I thought Chris was the best last night. Elliott came in second. Elliott reminds me of a young Frank Sinatra. Taylor was good but not as good as Chris and Elliott. I did not like Paris, Kat or Kelli, although Kelli has been a favorite of min. I think Paris or Kat will be gone tonight. I think Kelli will still be in there one more time, then unless she beats Taylor, she will go, then Taylor or Elliott will go. Chris will be the next American Idol. Chris has not fell short on any song I have seen him sing. Neither has Elliott. Chris and Elliott have always done a good job, and, of course, Taylor has always been good, but he did not outshine Chris or Elliott last night. It is time for a male to win. We have had two female winners in a row. Now is the time for a male to win, and Chris wil surely do much better than Rheuben or Clay.

Jeff,
I must disagree totally. Fantasia was much better than Diana. Their not even in the same league. How has Diana’s CD done compared to Fantasia’s. Fantasia was clearly the better and more versitle singer.

Diva, I think you’re right about SOME things. Early in th show they set us up to like certain people and not like others. They do this with the back stories and the way they choose to show each contestant. They allowed us to see a very arrogant moment from Gedeon and I don’t think he ever recovered from that. They kept that Brenna chick as long as they could to annoy us and give us something to look forward to…her departure. But..once they start telling us that it is our votes that decide…then that’s the absolute truth. If the FCC EVER caught them cheating, they would be off the air. They DO continue to attempt to manipulate us with the little side pieces and sometimes with the judges comments….but the vote counts are honest.

Taylor rocks…even though this wasn’t his best week…and I believe he has a good chance of taking it all the way.
The 3 men in the competition have it locked up, IMO, and one of them will walk away with the title. I’m predicting Taylor. He’s my favorite, with Chris and Eliot tied in a close second for me.
IMO, Paris will be the bye-bye girl tonight. There are still a lot of Kelly and Katherine fans out there that will keep them alive for at least one more week. I seem to be in agreement with dialidol each week.

I thought Diana DeGarmo was only okay, certainly not someone you would want to hear in mainstream music though. She was very “stage” which is where she is now and belongs. Honestly, the talent that season was mediocre as a whole. Remember the cheesey Jon Peter “Elvis” Lewis? It was a bad season and Fantasia easily rose to the top.

Greeetings to all Bloggers.. Work has been very busy, and I have some down time to blog..Yippee… Mike S as usual it’s a pleasure to read your observations. And, since we are the same age…43… We have seem to have heard a wide variety of music through the ages. I do agree about Kat not having that power voice to hit the high notes. She certainly has a limited range, but like others have said when she sang with Bocelli it was music to my ears. ;-)… So, keep that low and sultry voice. After watching, I told a friend last night those puppies were begging to be let out of that pen. Also, I believe with some vocal training something E has never had before AI he could hit those big notes and sustain them. Try…E-train is coming down those tracks with a big WOOOOHOOOO…I saw on a USA today poll that Elliot is now behind Chris by a slim margin in one of their voting polls. Taylor is losing steam big time. ;-) I think that a Chris and Elliot finally would be awesome. They have such different styles of music and definitely different fan bases I believe. We shall see. Big shout out to Mike S, Try, Deidre, Yo Daddy and too many others to name. One more thing… Please God let Kelly go home!!.. Can I hear an AMEN!!

To IV: Sorry I’m really late on this but I just saw your post at 11:30am.
I’m the one who made the comment last night about Paris and “ghetto-fabulous” (not ghettoized) music. Here’s what I meant. The producers/label that gets ahold of the poor “American Idol” has them locked into whatever THEY think works. These people have proven in their handling of Ruben & Fantasia’s projects/marketing/promotion that they have no idea how to promote a talented black artist. And before anyone attacks me as a racist, get a grip…I’m a professional black female whos worked in and been concerned about the music industry and its practices for years. As many have said before…Ruben should have been marketed as a Barry White/Luther Vandross type balladeer. God knows we need one with those greats now gone. That’s why folks voted for Ruben! Instead they give him a record full of crap songs aimed at the hip-hop culture…which he didn’t represent on AI. Then there’s Fantasia. Boy! did they screw that one up! Yes she has a uniquely stylized voice, but they didn’t have to stereotype her by her situation as a single unwed black mother and shamelessly promote a song like BABY MAMA (the only song mainstream America remembers from a decent debut album)…sigh!
Even with Kelly, the idol producers obviously couldn’t get it right as she has BLOWN UP as a star since getting away from their contract. I don’t blame her for not letting them use her music on the show. LOL
So my point was, while I always thought Paris was the best VOICE in the competition…I never expected or wanted her to win because the AI folks don’t know how to market her and she would be a “has-been” within months. Frankly I have the same feeling about Elliot (my other favorite) I’d like to see him stay as long as possible for the exposure, but don’t want him to win and be trapped. Now that I think about it…maybe Pickler is exactly who deserves to win AI. Apparently they DO know how to market blond country female (a la Carrie Underwood), successfuly. And if that happened then all of the truly TALENTED people on Idol will get all the exposure they need (by “pimping” the system) but have all the creative freedom they want (making their own career choices).
Anyone agree?

Last night when I first saw Kat I flashed back to EARLY in the competition when Ryan questioned her about the “rumor” that she was pregnant. She is really beginning to make that rumor look true. I am not talking about her abdomen specifically, it was obviously bound in some type of undergarment. Look at her face, ever seen a pregnant women who’s nose widens? That’s exactly what she looked like.
Just wondered if anybody else remembered or considered that rumor???

I was so disgusted with most of the performances tonight. First of all, Kat, that yellow dress is not your best friend. I totally agree with Randy and Simon. If you choose a Whitney or Mariah song, you better have the vocal chops to pull it off. When I (and most people who remember Whitney when she was on top of the world) hear that song, I get goosebumps. Last night, I got goosebumps for a different reason. Because it was LAME! Good, but lame. Elliot I am afraid is starting to win me over. That was the best I heard him sound since the contest started. I voted for Taylor last night since he was the only one who didn’t butcher his song AND sang a song i actually liked. I think Randy’s comments to him were so wrong. Michael McDonald/Bolton, James Imgram, that’s his comfort zone. He sounded great. I enjoyed it. I still love Chris but I decided I will only vote for one contestant a week. Even though he looks like my husband, I still wasn’t too impressed with his song. But he is soooo sexy! My choice for the bottom 3-Kellie, Paris & Kat with Kellie receiving the long overdue boot!

Deirdre, you’re right about flame being fleeting. In this business it’s about having your name out there. That’s why they hire publicists, managers, promoters. In the case of Fantasia and any OTHER AI winner, all of those positions are automatically filled by 19 entertainment and it’s affiliates at the moment they AUDITION. Just yesterday AJC’s article on Paris’ grandma, Ann Nesby, said that the Idol folks keep her from answering “too many” questions about Paris. HER OWN GRANDCHILD. So even at this point THEY have all the control. Fantasia, as the artist, is just supposed to show up wherever “the Idol machine” books her. And they have done a SORRY job of it. Same for Ruben…and somewhat for Kelly, though I think she’s done MUCH better since she’s been able to make her own choices. Kelly demonstrates the pitfalls of the AI contract and how to overcome it.
As for the new single by Fantasia, what’s the name of it. I actually enjoyed most of her album, other than that HORRID “stereotype” song.

I have to agree with MikeS on sometimes not winning can be a much better thing for some of the contestants than winning.
Josh Gracin, finished 4th in season 2. He released a country album and hit #1 with his 2nd single last year. That single was #3 on the Country Music Year End Chart.
Miranda Lambert, finished 3rd in the 1st season of Nashville Star. She is actually competing against Carrie Underwood for Best New Female Vocalist. The winner of season 1 took off out of the gate, he has had little chart action off his CD. The winner’s of 2nd & 3rd season barely hit the charts with their debut singles and have not been heard from since.

LOL, steph774…your funny, but I understand. I am a lover of music, not tied to the ridiculous standard of image that is rammed down our throat. I noticed that a couple of folks posted that they listened but didn’t watch the performances….they gave Elliot props for his performance. His performance brought tears to my eyes because it was truly MOVING. As I said, I don’t have much use for Paula’s comments…but that was the truest thing she’s ever said. Music was meant to be more than just noise. Music reaches into the heart and soul and connects us as human beings. That’s why some people get nostalgic when they hear a particular song. It transports them back to the feelings and emotions they had the first time they heard the song. Why do you think people still LOVE the music of the 50s, 60s, 70s, heck…ANY era. Music, in its purest form, is a universal language. It doesn’t matter what you look like, where come from, what your race is…it can trigger a commonality among all of us. When Elliot sang that song last night, it didn’t just SOUND good. He managed to project the emotion that the lyrics were speaking of. PAY ATTENTION TO LYRICS! sigh….so many people miss that in today’s music. The lyrics communicate. And so, it was the depth of feeling and emotion that Elliot projected in his performance that, with no regard to how he looks, connected with me. That’s the big problem so many people have during this competition is they don’t connect…because we, as a society, have gotten so caught up in the IMAGE that we’re being sold. Take Bocelli for example, you think people love his music because of how HE looks? No, they appreciate the beauty of his voice when he sings.
So, if appreciating the deeper meaning of a musical performance makes me a loser in your book, Steph774, then I am one. Guess what? I won’t lose any sleep over what YOU think of me. :)

Deirdre, now that I’ve dealt with the riff raff. To answer your question….again goes back to the industry (which is fickle) trying to keep up with the public (which is even more fickle). The Idol contract (signed at audition) not only “enslaves” the winner, but it also prevents any of the other contestants from capitalizing on the experience because of America’s short attention span. First, the top 10 are whisked off on a 3-4 month tour (the “machine” again pimping these kids for their talent, with little reward) then the winner goes into production of their debut album…another 2-3 months. The other contestants are not “allowed” to release their own projects until 3 months after the winner’s project is released. By then, you’re in Feb-Mar…it’s a new AI season and most people have moved on. Reality is, why we all get caught up in this thing during the season, and contestants get millions of votes…maybe only 500,000 people or less are truly such die hard fans of ANY contestant that they are checking the stores for the release. It’s the publicity/promotion teams job to get the buzz out to the public. But with AI starting up each year around the time the non-winners finally have clearance to do their own thing (and not offering any promotional assistance) who remembers them? I can’t remember last years contestants beyond Bo & Carrie. (and Constantine because he was SO overrated).
So the answer is having a true fan base (in the real FANATIC sense) and finding a PR firm that is GOOD and willing to keep that contestant in the public eye. But these kids don’t know that….they don’t know the business. I honestly believe Ann Nesby is so happy Paris is doing well because SHE knows the business and how to work the exposure afterwards.

Pickler: I dunno. I meeen this is rilly scary. My hair’s all stickin up, and Simon don’t make me feel sexy no more. I know my makeup is rurnt, with these old hot lights. I’m just a little country girl and I ain’t used to all this pressure. Wheewwwww. I’m really nervous. Harmony, It’s like a trap that the innocent get ensnared in. The two-way street syndrome. They get the exposure they need then aren’t allowed to do anything with it. Some have succeeded on a minor level. Kimberly Caldwell has a job in the business. Diana DeGarmo is working on Broadway. The girl who is co-starring in Dreamgirls (her name escapes me right now, man, I’m getting old). It IS possible to make something out of the Idol exposure. I imagine it takes a lot of drive and determination. At least, when you walk in a door, they might remember you from somewhere.

Well, it looks like Taylor got screwed over by the AI Producers yet again. His father said today in an interview with a Birmingham Radio Station that Taylor was forced to change songs 2 days ago. HE WAS going to sing You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling and was told 2 days ago that he could not sing it with no explanation.
Been checking everywhere to find spoilers for tonight. All “aunt Edna” and others will say is that Dial Idol is correct on the bottom 3 and the bottom 2 is Kellie & Paris, but the reply to who was last “You will just have to watch and find out”

Hey Shaunsky…don’t worry about little Jeff. He’s harmless…Jim J keeps him in line. You are probably right about Paris even though she definitely was not the worst. I just think she has the smallest fan base of those remaining…so Jeff says it will be Kellie? That will be stokin’ if it’s Paris! Jeffy probably will not come around tomorrow if that’s the case. Damn…you and Jim J would go for the jugular…poor Jeffy.

OK just listened to NIgel Lythgow’s weekly interview.
He said he thought there were 4 excellent performances - Chris, Elliot, Kat and taylor - and 2 mediocre performances, Paris and Kellie. This is usually how he hints at the bottom and it fits with Dial Idol. Kellie & Paris Bottom 2.
They will break the contestants into three groups — the 2 highest vote getters, the 2 middle vote getters, and a bottom 2 tonight.
He said he was very unhappy with the judges comments as a whole last night and to Katherine in particular.
NEXT WEEK WILL BE 2 SONGS EACH — A song from the year they were born, and a song currently on one of the Billboard charts.

You people are pathetic. It’s not a competition when the “contestants” are chosen in advance.
It makes me belly laugh to hear you dorks say things like “the song was too big for him”, or “he was really in his element last night”. Be at least a little original. Do you really think it isn’t obvious you are just parroting what the “judges” said the night before?
To anyone who thinks any of these clowns are among the best ONE THOUSAND singers in America, let alone the top six, put the pet rock and the crack pipe down.
“You move me?” Yes, it moved me too, Paula: Right into the bathroom for a nice “movement”.
Talk about your little “competition” all you want, like it is important to ANYTHING: Paris is gone tonight, due to the grass roots efforts of VOTEFORTHEWORST.COM. They have been pushing people to vote for Kelli since mid-March, realizing that as beautiful as she was, she was just as horrendous a singer. Watch and see…..Kelli survives, Paris is gone. What does that say about your little “competition”?
How much productivity was wasted on the almost 700 posts here today? I saw people posting when they got to work…not to comment on the show, but just to say, “hey bloggers, I am at work”. WHO CARES? Do you not have a social life?
Jeez….it’s really depressing to see that so many can be duped into obsessing about something so meaningless. What a shame we can’t get people to “obsess” about important things to the point that they will actually vote…in say….the presidential election. PATHETIC.
That being said….as bad as Kelli was/is, she stays. Paris goes. VOTEFORTHEWORST.COM DOES IT AGAIN! And I am loving every second of it. I can’t wait to see all you dorks crying about it tomorrow. It’s your own fault for not seeing the whole thing was a farce to begin with.

Hey Mike S. Thanks for the update…I like next week’s theme. At least they’ll get to select music in their strong suit. But I disagree with everyone that Taylor was smokin’ last night. i know that I’m on the late show, but I just have to pay tribute to true talent…even if it’s already been said: Elliott was the real deal, and despite whatever jokes about Paula, the tears were deserved. If you listened to what she said (instead of cracking up over how it came off…Simon), Paula was right on point with what she said, and it was definately the truth. The “Evolution of Elliott” has truly been a real “American Idol” story. Both his humility, the challenges and illnesses that he overcomes, and not to mention his talent ARE truly moving. And I think that Simon was laughing to keep from tearing up and crying himself. (He knows that Elliott was THE man…that made him cry uncle last night.)
As for Chris, to me, HE’s overrated…and even arrogant from what I’m reading. His voice is good, but it nowhere near touches Elliott’s, and without the strobe lights and nice looks, would be on the b-list.
I would love to see Elliott and Paris in the final 2, or Elliott and Chris. Paris’s voice is the Real Deal also, but just not as moving as Elliott’s.
But I agree with Harmony…not winning, but staying long enough for the max exposure, is probably the best deal. So for anyone who acknowledges that Elliott is winning your ear and attention now, please vote for the man! Because of our society’s image hang-ups, he could most benefit from the continued exposure, so folks can start to appreciate his music and talent. Go Elliott! (and Paris)
