2/25: Kyle Ensley on Ellen DeGeneres, Carrie Underwood on SNL
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I left the “Separated at Birth” entry up all weekend on purpose since it was so much fun. Two more Luke comparisons: Bryan Cranston of “Malcolm in the Middle” and Hugh Jackman. But alas, let us move on:
Paula Abdul did a phone press conference last Thursday I forgot to check in on. I just listened to the replay. Ultimately, I didn’t miss much. She defended Carly Smithson, saying she was unknown so who cares about her past record deal? She was promoting her video for her new song “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow.” She complimented David A, Syesha, Jason Castro, Ramiele, Michael, Amanda, Alaina and Carly and as we know, it’s too early to pinpoint a likely winner.
Carrie performed “All American Girl” and “Flat on the Floor” (presumably her third single off her current CD) on “Saturday Night Live,” the first new episode since November 3, pre-strike.
Thank you, MJ, for this one of her doing “All American Girl.”
I loved that kid Kyle Ensley, the future politician. He loves to sing but he’s one of the few that has no desire to try to make it a career. He was cut for Colton Berry, the eliminated Ellen DeGeneres lookalike. So ironically, Kyle landed on Ellen last week:
I agree with Simon that Kyle deserved to stick around for pure entertainment value, but he might have ended up being the Chicken Little//John Stevens of the crew and deprive someone else a spot in the top six guys.
An Irish online betting site Paddy Power has already placed bets on the top 20. I’m sure Chris Sligh at this point was considered a front runner at this stage a year ago. At the moment, the favorites are David Archuleta (5-2), Michael Johns (11-4), Ramiele Malubay (5-1), Syesha Mercado (6-1), Jason Castro and Carly Smithson (8-1) and Asia’h Epperson (10-1). Odds are fairly good all seven will be in the final 12. The bottom three at 50-1 are David Hernandez, Luke Menard and Chikezie Eze.
Gone Country episode No. 5 featured a it more of Bobby Brown’s sleepwalking and he has an unfortunate habit of missing the bathroom when he needs to urinate. Poor Maureen McCormick accidentally steps in it. She also accidentally sees a bit more of Bobby than she would have liked and well, let’s just say he has big hands and feet, ahem. I never thought this show would go this direction*! Less memorably, the team learns line dancing, get some country clothing and work on their songs (though we still hear very little and Julio Iglesias Jr. has zip). Diana gets relatively little airtime on this one though she picks out a tight blue dress.

Morning Mushblogians!
I LIKE David Hernandez! I hope he doesn’t leave.
I believe this week’s theme will be 70’s songs and logic makes me assume that next week will be 80’s(which opens that dangerous Whitney Houston door)

Happy Monday, y’all!
LOL, D….that is a very dangerous road! Definitely looking forward to tomorrow! Oh, and of course Paula’s going to defend the “pimped” one. But I gotta say, everyone I’ve chatted with regarding Idol doesn’t really care for her. Everyone’s loving David A., Kady, and Alaina.
Carrie on SNL, great as always… And you know, while I loved My December, Kelly needs to come out with a strong CD or I may just have to chance my name to CarrieFan. LOL, kidding! ;)

Sorry to hear that, WE. You’ve been there a long time so, at least seniority wise, you’re probably safe. If they do it that way.
I have no idea whether the theme tomorrow is 70’s but I read it on one of the forums. Could be somebody just making it up.

Rodney, on Kyle Ensley, I’m glad he didn’t make it. He was a decent singer, maybe better than Colton but he was absolutely destined to become the next Chicken Little. The show did NOT need that this year and, whichever judge (or judges) put their foot down and said no…I would like to personally thank them!

WE that happened to my dad many years ago… they gave him an option to transfer somewhere or take a severance package — he told them he’d rather not transfer, asked what the package consisted of… made a couple of “demands” (requests?) to be added to the package and walked out with a VERY lucrative package… i couldn’t tell you exactly what, but he got a cash payout, some months of salary, full coverage on insurance at their expense for some period of time (might be different now with COBRA, tho) and pension and profit sharing locked in… after a few months at home, he want to work for a major department store part time, and at 84 years old, is STILL at that major department store (25 years later!) so your options if you play your hand right could yield you a nice severance package so you don’t stay but benefit from the merger! good luck, WE!!!

I have made decent choices financially so I will be just fine no matter what happens. I can honestly say that I would not lose one wink of sleep if they told me to pack it up right now and get the hell out.

Rodney, regarding Gone Country — i wonder if the whole world is as totally sick of Bobby Brown as I am… heck, i was sick of him BEFORE the show started, but what they’ve shown of him so far… makes me more positive i’m right to be sick of him. If he has that many problems, he needs to be in an institution, NOT on a tv show!
What little of Diana we’ve seen makes me proud of her … she’s been gracious without being a mouse, been confident, and been funny… she was honest about NOT feeling sorry for “poor bobby” … but she hasn’t been RUDE to him either (at least on camera!) i thought her dress choice was quite attractive, btw, mature enough to show that she’s NOT the 16 year old girl we first met on AI, lol! Maureen still makes me gag, but her singing sounded ok, a little TOO soft and o-poor-pitiful-me, but at least it DID sound country-ish! And i’m getting tired of Carney Wilson being shown folding clothes!!!

yeah, but WE, keep your “ear to the ground” for possibilities and get the MOST you can out of the merger… look out for you, and don’t take any crap, LOL! you can probably negotiate yourself a nice deal, one way or the other! Dad didn’t make demands, per se, but he did express his interest and goals in the merger/takeover… and came out pretty well for it.

Not seeing much of Diana on Gone Country probably means we don’t have to worry about her. She clearly is drama free and level headed, two traits that don’t pay off on reality tv but they will keep you out of jail and the tabloids. Early in the episode, I loved her burp and Sisqo’s response (“that’s sexy”. She did look quite attractive and busty in the blue dress she selected. Having a 20 year old hot body like Diana around while shopping must have made it worse for Carnie. We should see more of Diana on Friday’s episode because she allegedly gets p** off at John Rich and argues with him about something. If she had just done that more often she could have had tons of airtime.

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week.
Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote “The Hokie Pokey” died peacefully at the age of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

The song is called “Best Days” by Graham Colton. Here’s the link because I know you guys were probably wondering what song it was! http://www.amazon.com/BestDays/dp/B000XLUALU/ref=pdbbssr_3?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1203979850&sr=8-3

X..linny’s not lying. Before you, whoever you are, got on this blog, the blog was JUST like this! I’m talking about back during seasons 2 and into season 3. People didn’t actually chat. They made comments…sometimes other people responded to them, sometimes not. We rarely talked on ‘off’ days…just when idol was on tv. There were maybe 5 of us who showed up here regularly and that was only to make a comment, then leave.
The blog did not become a ‘chat room’ until sometime during season 4, I believe and yes, then there were as many as 400 posts a day.
BUT….you annoying little troll..linny was NOT lying and since you weren’t even around back then, it’s pretty frickin nervy of you to call someone a liar based on a period of time when you were not here…cuz if you were here…YOU’D KNOW!
I came on to let all the good people on here know that I’d had a really bad day with mom and was hoping tomorrow would be better and the first thing I run into is your idiotic statement! Grow the hell up!!!!

WE, your observation may be more right on target than you think… and instead of putting blame where it is due (which is NOT entirely on greg/flats, but also on people who just could NOT ignore his silliness and idiocy, IN MY PERSONAL OPINION), he/she/it has chosen to blame me, has taken to calling me names, here and other places, and has tried to spread a general ugliness around me.
The fact that i continue to BE linny, or linny-kat, or linny ,,,=^..^=,,, should let anyone who cares to know that i am not intimidated or particularly bothered by the innuendo and outright snide rude and ugly remarks. I’m overall an optimist; i believe in forgiveness and second chances, and i’m not holding any grudges. Other person(s) choose to, and that is INDEED their right…
X doesn’t bother me, i already have a pretty good idea who it is from some input from others, and frankly, i just consider the source, and laugh.
oh by the way, X, i can be on the computer as long as i want here, i’m not at work… anything else you’d like to confront me with, feel free… it’s a public blog.
and D, thanks hon. I had gone to take care of some other business around the house (and NO, i wasn’t watching more Lost, lol, tho’ i was tempted!) and just got back to the computer. It’s probably just as well that you answered instead of me, i might have been REALLY ugly.
thank goodness for time and friends, for now all i can do is chuckle at the total silliness and insanity of making this personal!!!
Note to newcomers yes, this blog is slow, takes a long time to post, and sometimes things don’t make sense, because of the time it takes to post, and other posts between a comment or question and a reply. However, we lived with it for years, until last year when Rodney’s employer, AJC, tested an interactive “chat” style blog…
Unfortunately they decided NOT to continue that format, or that vendor, and Rodney has been told that we may get another in the near future. That would be great fun; however, THIS blog is, and always HAS been Rodney Ho’s American Idol blog, no matter the format. Rodney’s kind enough to allow us to talk of things other than AI during the off days and especially the off season. I for one am extremely grateful.
Back in the old days, all we ever asked of ANYONE who wanted to post was that they show respect for Rodney and the other bloggers, and that mean, ugly, rude and vulgar comments be NOT posted.
All are welcome. We will be subjected to the occasional rude, weird, and even spiteful comments; it’s part of being on the internet. Our policy has been in the past to try to ignore those, or to respond once and not encourage such a poster to continue in the same vein.
I wish you all a wonderful night, and am looking forward to tomorrow’s anticipatory comments about AI, and the show tomorrow night.
peace ~¿@

It’s definitely personal, War Eagle.
The people who left felt that greg was deliberately targeting them. And he was…sometimes he even admits it. He called them names(ugly names) and baited them. They had every right to be upset and they were completely justified in leaving. Almost all of them are done with it and have moved on. I even talk to a few of them via email and we have managed to rise above the hard feelings.
X does not want to let go of it and move on. And that’s fine..but, he/she seems to take it out on linny more than even greg, because linny made the choice to stay and try to settle greg down by including him rather than ignoring him. It’s a choice she made…and she had every right to make that choice. X gets a kick out of attacking linny. It’s as if trying to hurt linny is his/her way of getting back at everybody for what happened.

oh. and I wasn’t the one who chose to leave the blog and start another one… since someone DID that, why don’t you just go THERE and stay there, and be happy? why do you feel you MUST attack me. All i EVER did was try to maintain some semblance of peace… words were said that were TOTALLY taken out of context and repeated, apparently, among some participants of the myajc blog, and myths were born. However, if it makes you happy to blame me… have at it! As i said, i made a decision to be here and to support Rodney. Others did the same. Others did not. It IS a free country! So…. feel free!
or as has been said “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” …
in the scope of ALLLL eternity, just how important IS this to you? it would be interesting to know just why you feel, MONTHS later, that you have to try to slam others. You might remember what a coach once told me… when you point a finger at someone, remember that at least three are pointing back at yourself.
or the old schoolyard taunt “takes one to know one” … if you THINK you know me, perhaps you are actually looking at a reflection of yourself? if you think that I would do something, is it because YOU would choose to do what you accuse me of, and transfer the intent?
i dunno; i’m not a psychologist. i have my thoughts. you’re welcome to yours!

Morning All, I am not defending X, but how can you all be sure that it is one of the Exiles? Many people left the blog BEFORE the exiles because of greg’s behavior. We have seen people come back and post that they were so offended by comments made, they left. Linny, I feel bad for you, but Rodney isnt going to do a thing about it, he set the tone that this type of behavior is accepted.

We can’t be sure of anything, Shaun but you have to admit, X is really bitter and angry and taking his/her wrath out on linny is hardly a way of settling anything.
Rodney doesn’t have to, nor should he, ‘do anything about it’. I’ve said it a hundred times but, once again, the behavior of a few people on this blog is no better than on the other ajc blogs. That’s why we choose to ignore it(and I realize I didn’t ignore X last night but, after the day I’d had, I felt like kicking SOMETHING)

Shaun…I think, and I may be wrong, that X is trying to prove that ‘certain’ people on this blog get ‘special’ attention. By attacking linny, he/she is hoping to show that Rodney will banish someone who bothers his ‘favorites’. Now that’s pretty juvenile. One, Rodney can only banish people who attempt to imitate others. Two, linny would never ask that X be banished. He/she is expressing an opinion, which he/she is entitled to and some of us are disagreeing with that opinion.

I was deeply offended by some of Flats statements as well, Shaun. I would love to have everybody back and the blog rock and rolling the way it used to. But I don’t agree that it is Rodney’s place to stop Flats or anyone else. He works for a company that supposedly follows the constitutional right of free speech and that includes stuff we don’t like. It is up to the ajc lawyers to decide and, apparently, they have.
Mitch and Luvs are great guys and interesting and I feel angry and unhappy that they only drop in occasionally because of flats. I hope they know that none of us who stayed did so because we agree with him. At the same time, I’m a little disturbed that staying here has labeled linny and me as racist or homophobes. We took a stand on the blogs’ behalf, not on greg’s! If he chooses to stay here, that’s his right, but that doesn’t mean we agree with him or condone his opinion.

OK, y’all…I went over to TVGuide and their power rankings left me totally confused. Seriously, are they watching the same show we are?
Here’s the rankings: 10. Alex Lushington and Jason Y. 9. Alaina and Luke 8. Kady and David H 7. Amanda and Chikezie 6. Carly and David C. 5. Brooke and Danny (!!) 4. Asia’h and David A. 3. Syesha and Robbie 2. Kristy Lee and Jason C. (Wha?!) 1. Ramiele and Michael
Other than my opinion on Kady and Alaina, which y’all know, I think that Alex and David A. really should be higher on the list. Thoughts?
Oh, and here’s the link (just in case): http://www.tvguide.com/PhotoGallery/AmericanIdolPowerRankings:TheTop20_1112/10.aspx

Morning good folks! I am only here a short while cause I have to meet with the surgeon. Just wanted to chime in on the current subject. I don’t know who X is nor do I care, but just as you guys don’t think its fair to be labeled as racist or homophobic cause you chose to stay here, it goes the same way with you guys assuming that this X person is one of the exiles. Its not right to keep pointing the finger. We have MPDs popping in on the Exile blog but not one time has anyone said that it was someone on the AJC because that wouldn’t be fair. I’m just saying, stop assuming things. There have been alot of people that hated all of us when were blogging together and would chime in and make a negative comment. It could very well be Gilldude or Bo or some of the other MPD that have popped in trying to stir up trouble. Don’t just assume its one of the guys or girls who blog on the exiles page. We all have jobs and most of the time, we ain’t even on the exile blog, we are dealing with all these problems that are facing us every day and trying to make a decent living and help each other get through rough times right now. Obviously someone has a lot of free time on their hands, but I don’t think its an exile.

Well, kf, I TOTALLY disagree with those rankings…well maybe not totally but close.
Boys: 1.Michael, 2, David A., 3. Jason Castro, 4. David Hernandez, 5. Robbie, 6. Luke, 7.David Cook, 8. Danny, 9, Jason Y., 10. Chikezie.
Girls: 1. Syesha, 2.Ramiele, 3.Carly, 4. Asia’h, 5.Alaina, 6. Amanda, 7. Kady, 8. Alex, 9. Brooke, 10. Kristy Lee
All this may change after the next 2 nights but that’s how I see it so far.
Let the disagreements begin! :-)

I think chizkezie is a goner this week. He is so boring. He needs to do cruise ships, or cheezy vegas lounges. As far as the girls, Rameile is my fav, then Ashia’h. (what is with the ‘h in her name?) I dont like Danny, he is annoying.

shay… if it were not for something that was said of me by one of the exiles that has been reiterated by X, i’d never make that statement. but i know more than some think about things that have been said about me, evidently in private, but then passed along to me by someone who EITHER “cared” or wanted to hurt me more.
now. this is Rodney’s blog. I suggest that, since it’s a new AI season, that we try to drop the past and just move on into the future and let bygones be bygones. I have done nothing wrong, and yet, i ask forgiveness from others for what they may have PERCEIVED that i did wrong. Perception can be reality, i know that. Things have been said in public about me that are so far from the truth that anyone who knows me would not ever THINK i was the target of the words. I forgive those who have slammed me, and ask that the white flag be honored, in this place. If someone wants to say something to me, you all have my email address from the old days. Feel free to write to me directly, and let’s relieve Rodney’s blog of this petty and pernicious burden. This is NOT the place.
I’ll answer only in person, if written to, and I will not respond in the blog to attacks resulting from this BS, nor will i bring it up in the blog.
My promise to you all, especially to Rodney.

I think I said, shay that almost all the Exiles are done with it. And I didn’t ever say it was someone from choc’s blog…but there are people who left at the same time who have VERY hard feelings.
And I believe the ONLY time choc’s blog was even mentioned was when linny said there was another blog and perhaps X would be happier over there. I saw no accusations directed at choc’s blog.
Good luck with the surgeon…you’ll be a lot happier when this is over and done with!

I’ll rate the ladies cause the men don’t really count in my book. There have been 2 men win AI and both of them have no contract and for the most part suck.

LOL!, Shaun…and I’m so proud of We for giving up on the lushiousness of Kristy and recognizing her apparent lack of ability(except when singing Amazing Grace).

ok i have a question — why do you guys say rocker chicks went out in the 80s, yet you (we) all really liked Chris, a rocker GUY? Is there no room for a rocker chick? I’m not sure I understand why so many feel that way; it’s not just you guys, i’ve heard others say the same.
yet, i find myself totally bored by the same-ole same-ole with the pop chicks—at least the country chicks are getting respect, LOL!!!

it’s called a double standard Linny. lol. I think it could possibly come back, but we need a serious rocker who is also cute. Gina was cute from last yr, but the tongue ring was too much, I think she sat rocker chicks back 5 yrs with that. lol

You know Linnykat, now stick with me on this one… for some reason I’m reminded of the Berlin song “Sex”. Where the woman is singing that she is all these different things, the man just keeps saying “I’m a man.” Ok, it may not be the best analogy, but where women in the music business had to change from the 80’s to the mid 90’s to the late 90’s etc, men have just kept saying “I’m a rocker.” Fair? no, but just my observation.

Linny rocker chicks have never been in high demand. I’m no music expert but I grew up in the 80’s listening to heavy metal and hair bands as they are called today. I can count on one hand the number of successful rocker chicks there have been since then.

i GUESS my problem is that i grew up listening to music through the 50s 60s 70s and on. Grace Slick was incredible, and always will be. I enjoyed Benetar and Jett, the Wilson sisters (Heart), Stevie Nix, and others… are my heritage in music, and i love them as much as i do Jazz singers and blues singers and folk singers, even. (we’re talking females here) So i have to disagree, there were some greats.
just my own opinion of course, and since i’m considerably older and all, it does make a difference, LOL; like my mom trying to tell me just why Sinatra, Tom Jones, Deano, etc. were “so much better” than the artists that i listened to, i guess (she was right on some, soooo wrong on others!)
