3/11: Top 12 Beatles night. Chikezie ups the ante, David Archuleta can’t work it out

New set, new opener, same show!

And it’s.. the Beatles!

I’m sorry but I’m a tad disappointed by the night as a whole. I’m so familiar with a lot of these songs, it’s awfully difficult to take on such iconic tunes and put on a special spin. Who would have thunk it that my favorites were from Chikezie and Amanda???

And the frontrunner crumbled!

Okay, here’s the order: 1- Amanda 2- Chikezie 3- Carly 4-David C. 5- Jason C. 6- Syesha C. 7- Michael 8-Brooke 9- David H. 10- David A. 11 - Ramiele 12- Kristy Lee Cook.

Who should go? I originally thought Kristy Lee but instead, I’m going to say Ramiele. I think Kristy Lee took a greater risk and some voters will admire her for it and give her enough votes to overtake (snooze) Ramiele. The other person in the bottom three will be David Hernandez. He’s performed well enough to this point to avoid elimination but he clearly tried to do too much and failed. And despite his collapse, David Archuleta is perfectly safe. I expect many of his text-happy teen fans will vote double time to make sure of that. And bravo to both Amanda and Chikezie for saving themselves.

First up: Syesha Mercado (“Got To Get You Into My Life”) - She does it with a bit of a jazz vibe and does a fine job after a few off notes early on. I like her hair, too. Randy: “Nice arrangement of Beatles… It was alright.” Paula: “You know you’re a good singer. It started it pitchy but midway through you found your zone.” Simon: “I thought it was a great choice of song. You looked very nervous but you need to get passed that. You were better than last week.” B-plus

Chikezie Eze (“She’s a Woman’) - He thought he was going last week. (And he should have.) He talked about an LAX screener. He was raised on Nigerian cultural music but his mom is an encyclopedia of music knowledge. He does it with a bluesy/country vibe with a fiddler, a banjo and a tambourine. It’s a great arrangement. He’s having a fun time up there, real loose and confident. Wow! He upped his game big time. Randy; “I was thoroughly entertained. Who knew?” Paula: “Those who take a risk, the greater the reward.” Simon:”I’m really surprised but I agreed with these two! You actually have changed! You took control the stage.” A-minus/A

Ramiele Malubay (“In My Life”) She works at a sushi place and her parents played a lot of old-school music like “Yesterday.” Good song choice. It’s a perfectly adequate vocal presentation. But again, she doesn’t take it to the next level. Yawn. Adequate doesn’t cut it at this point, especially after Chikezie shocked everyone. Randy: “It was kind of pretty but pretty boring. I was waiting for you to do something special. Paula: “It was pretty safe… I feel like you’re holding back.” Simon: “I was bored to tears throughout the entire song.” B-minus

Jason Castro (“If I Fell”) He failed his music class at Texas A&M. He seems familiar with the Beatles. He’s mesmerizing and he does “If I Fell” in a sweet, understated manner. I liked it. He is truly heartfelt. There were a few missteps and strange note shifts. Randy: “I found myself tuning out. It was alright.” Paula: “I disagree with Randy. I do feel your heart.” Simon: “Last week, you were incredible. It was a bit student in the bedroom at midnight. I thought the song was quite boring.” Then there’s some weirdness between Simon and Ryan. Any theories? B-plus/A-minus

Carly Smithson (“Come Together”) They moved into their own apartments. Amanda is her roomie. She misses Ireland but loves San Diego. They show at the bar and sings “Come Together” every Saturday. They clearly made an exception (for Carly, of course) by taking a song from “Abbey Road,” which came out after “Revolver.” The song allows her to belt, her specialty. She does it with her usual intensity. As usual, I’m fine with it but didn’t love it. Randy: “You were strong. You were confident. You sounded amazing. Stellar performance.” Paula: “I feel like I’m already watching a star.” Simon: “Week after week, I feel you’ve chosen the wrong song til now.” B-plus

David Cook (“Eleanor Rigby”) We’re halfway there. He was a bartender in Tulsa. I thought he’d go for something a little edgier like “Revolution.” “This song is already so powerful. If I played guitar, it would be overkill.” He gives it that grungy Nickelback/Daughtry-like take and it’s okay if you like that sort of thing. This is such a sacred song, it’s hard for me to absorb it this way. Not that he did it badly. I have to give him credit for doing it the way he wanted to do it. Randy: “Started a little unsafe for me.. but once you hit that chorus, you let go. It was rockin’!” Paula: “This is proving there’s more than one horse in this race. You are a thoroughbred.” Simon: “David. I thought it was brilliant.” B-plus

Brooke White (“Let It Be”) She was a nanny. Well, obviously, Nigel was wrong because here is yet another song post-“Revolver.” She does the song pretty straight. She has some strange breathing issues I’ve never noticed before. This is one of those classics that I’ve heard so many times, I’m sorry I didn’t hear anything extra from her. I was really hoping for more. Randy: “I love the fact you have all of this conviction. It was a very heartfelt performance.” Paula: “This is your niche. You have this emotional connection that makes people fall in love with you.” Simon: “It was one of the best performances of the night. A brilliant choice of song… It’s believable.” She is so likable though! More gay insinuations courtesy of Simon and Ryan grins and bears it. B

David Hernandez (“I Saw Her Standing There”) He got fired from a pizza bistro (maybe he was spending too much time stripping?) He’s solid but I’m mildly bored. It doesn’t quite touch me. Disappointing. Randy: “It was too overdone. I was lost from the jump.” Paula: “You overdid it.” Simon: “It was corny, verging on desperate.” B-minus.

Amanda Overmyer (“You Can’t Do That”) She worked as a nurse. She took one of the Beatles’ less famliar songs and it works amazingly well. Sure, she’s limited in her vocals but she picked a tune that fit her voice. She really rocks it! Randy: “That is the true mark of great songs. Guess what? You took a Beatles song and took it to a Southern bar!” Paula: “You are a star up there!” Simon: “I didn’t think it was as good as last week. It was like you were slurring your words.” A-minus/A

Michael Johns (“Across the Universe”) Oddly, he still is given credit for living in Buckhead though he moved way four years ago. He discovered Lennon/McCartney at age of 10. This song is really personal for him so let’s see if he can pull it off. And he does. That “heartfelt” line can be used here and it’s my favorite Johns performance since week one. Randy: “I thought it was good. A little sleepy.” Paula: “I disagree with you again. It takes an inner strength… and do nothing but sing brilliantly.” Simon: “I’m going to agree with Randy. Carly did something brilliant. It was a little monotonous. You have to let yourself go. I’m still a big big fan. I’m frustrated still.” B-plus/A-minus

Kristy Lee Cook (“Eight Days a Week”) She’s a country girl who will countrify this Beatles song. Wow. She wasn’t kidding! It’s too honky tonk and kind of corny. But no guts, no glory. She gave it the best shot he could and this competition could use a little bit of country in it. Randy: “I liked the idea of the song. Vocally, you forced some runs in it. I’m kind of torn with this one.” Paula: “I didn’t enjoy it. I didn’t get it.” Simon: “I thought it was horrendous. You sounded like Dolly Parton on helium. A very brave but foolish performance.” B/B-minus

David Archuleta (“We Can Work It Out”) He gets the pimp spot— of course. He’s a mixed race dude with a Honduras mom and a guy from Utah. He wasn’t too familiar with the Beatles but was familiar with the Stevie Wonder version of “We Can Work It Out.” Lucky him! Gasp! Did he just miss some lyrics??? The nerves of being the frontrunner has gotten to him. He picks it up at the end and redeems himself but wow! I’ve never seen someone in the pimp spot screw up like that! Randy: “I like your voice. This week, it was not on point. It felt very forced. It didn’t quite work.” Paula: “This wasn’t your best week but you are a frontrunner. Forgetting the lyrics-you should never let it show on your face.” Simon: “That was a mess. You stumbled over lyrics. At this point, I expect incredible performances. It wasn’t. It was your weakest performance so far.” B-minus

Here’s other ‘Idol” news in the interim:

Before tonight’s performances, TV Guide polled who they think will win. Clearly, I’m a much bigger fan of Syesha than everybody else. (Let’s call it the Nadia Turner syndrome. Maybe it’s that hair!) Plus, there’s more support for Kristy Lee Cook than I expected. Otherwise, my odds weren’t too far off. (I gave David 3 to 2 odds, which is 40%.)

40.4% David Archuleta

13.0% Jason Castro

11.2% David Cook

8.8% Michael Johns

8.5% Brooke White

6.6% Carly Smithson

3.3% David Hernandez

2.8% Kristy Lee Cook

2.4% Ramiele Malubay

1.7% Amanda Overmyer

1.0% Syesha Mercado

0.2% Chikezie

Debra Byrd, vocal coach, told E! that even though some contestants are told that certain songs have been sung before, they don’t always listen. For instance, Asiah’s ignored the fact that two others have sung Whitney’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and got voted off. Well, let’s hope nobody makes that mistake a FOURTH time.

The New York Times harps about the predictability of “Idol” in its seventh season.

The producers of “American Idol” made much this year about having the most talented crop of contestants in a long time, and the performances so far have not proved that wrong. Nevertheless, the show seems to have settled into the ruts dug by previous years.

I’m quoted in today’s “USA Today”! “Idol Chatter” blogger Ken Barnes recommended me to Bill Keveney, the reporter, who spoke with me for 25 minutes last Friday. He quoted me accurately and fairly.

Rodney Ho, an Idol blogger for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, sees “a very solid group” in which up to 10 singers have a shot. Ho ranks Cook, Syesha Mercado and Jason Castro after Archuleta. Carly Smithson and Amanda Overmyer are singers to watch, Elliot says. And Michael Johns, Ramiele Malubay and David Hernandez received praise from others

“Even with David Archuleta as the front-runner right now, I don’t think he’s a guarantee by any stretch,” Ho says. “There are too many variables in this show.”

And later in the story:

Blogger Ho says Idol is making a stronger effort to flesh out the singers’ personalities and stories. Ratings for the semifinals, an indicator of interest in the top singers, declined at a lower rate than for the season overall.

Another part of Idol, the judging panel, remains fairly constant, Ho says. “Paula (Abdul) seems a little flakier. Randy (Jackson) is the same. Simon (Cowell) seemed oddly nice during the auditions, but I think he’s gone out of his way to be grouchier and tougher” during more recent episodes.

Great quotes there Rodney. And I’m with you regarding Syesha. Of course I was also a fan of Nadia.

“Paula (Abdul) seems a little flakier.”

I keep thinking about this statement, and it’s something that we discussed a few weeks back. In the past there are usually some articles that pop up questioning her behavior, but I haven’t seen anything this year. Have we just become so used to it that we don’t care anymore? It seems like over the last few weeks she has really been further out there then ever before what is causing it, the new song perhaps?

Rodney, it seems like in the past the judges were available for interviews before the top 24 and after the season was over, but do you think they will be available during the top 12 portion of the show? I’m just curious as to what Paula or Simon would say regarding themselves or each other… yet again.

March 11, 2008 6:05 PM | Link to this

I am not denying that Paula is flaky and her critiques are almost always totally useless. However(you knew that was coming) have any of you ever kept your eyes on Simon while Randy and Paula are talking? He CANNOT keep his hands off Paula. He is constantly poking, prodding, tickling and whispering to her. Is it any wonder that she loses her train of thought…especially considering that her train of thought would probably equate with that famous ‘short bus’.

Simon is a 12 year old in a 40+ year old body!

Syesha - We Can Work It Out

D, I remember her coming out and blaming it all on Simon last year. Sure he pokes, whispers, and rocks her chair with his arm, but I don’t think it causes all the crazy. I can understand being a little scattered because of it, but the talk of colors, the focus on everything besides the singing, it goes beyond losing her train of thought.

Her thought pattern is a mystery that perhaps no one will ever know, except maybe Emilio Estevez, and I think he’s been screwed up ever since he came upon it. Her brain is like Cthulhu, touch upon it and you will forever be tainted.

Mike, mj’s is reporting that David A is doing Stevie Wonder’s version of We Can Work It Out. Everybody had the wrong spoiler list last week…I think Idol has a little conspiracy going on!

I don’t doubt that Paula is looney, JT, she just doesn’t need Simon making it even harder for her to concentrate. I would have belted him by now!

TMZ is reporting they are having major issues with the new set. Things are not working right and part of the set came apart during rehearsals. Also the doors that the contestants are supposed to come through to open the show are stuck Closed.

Let’s just hope Syesha does fantastic tonight so I’m not stuck voting until midnight.

D, that’s why I don’t think it’s a good thing for the show or the judges to over-hype one contestant. It’s not fair to the others, but it’s also not fair to him.

BTW, am I the only one that is not taken with Brooke’s voice? She seems like a very sweet person and all, but not especially like even a top 12 singer, never mind a contender. JMHO

Wo! Archuleta blew it! Cardinal sin of forgetting the lyrics.

Some fantastic performances tonight, and 3 bad ones — Ramiele (boring, didn’t show range), KLC, and Archuleta. Chikezie, Cook, Carly, Amanda (her best yet), Brooke were all really enjoyable, and everyone else middlin’…

By Deirdre

March 11, 2008 10:14 PM | Link to this

I think that we have some really strong contenders. With the exception of 3 or 4, I would understand a blogger’s choice of any of them in the # 1 spot.

One: Carly….she’s the rocker chick on the show, not Amanda and she’s good at it!

Two:Chikezie….I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone have that much fun with a song. He may not be the best singer and he may not make it very far but tonight…he was great!!!

Three: David Cook….I actually wasn’t all that impressed…I just put him at number 3 cuz I thought he deserved it. It was not even close to what I think is a good version of the song but…his stage presence brought up the level for me.

Four: Michael Johns…I thought he sang this song really well.

Five: Brooke: Nicely done but I didn’t find it even nearly as ‘special’ as the judges did.

Six:Jason Castro: Nice..ok…the squeeky voice stuff is starting to bug me just a teensy bit.

Seven: David H. It’s only his voice that’s saving him from a lower number. Not very good

Eight: Ramiele….It was a lovely but boring rendition of the song.

Nine: Amanda…at least she remembered the words.

Ten: Syesha…I love this girl’s voice but I think that was pure cabaret/karaoke.

Eleven: David A…Good thing he’s so popular cuz that was a disaster.

Twelve: Kristie….OMG a country flavor would have been nice, a taste of country would have been good. She took us to the hoedown and yeehawed her way through a BEATLE’S song!!!!

By Songluvr

March 11, 2008 10:27 PM | Link to this

Okay okay, here’s how I rank ‘em…

  1. Chikezie - Brilliant job. The fun he was having was infectious. Styled the song in his own artistic way too.

  2. Carly - Another example of a great job tonight. With Chikezie and Carly both, gotta say we were watching artists.

  3. David C. - This guy keeps on bringing it! I’d love to see what he’d do with a low-key luuuv song.

  4. Amanda - She worked it! IMO, her best and most confident showing yet.

  5. Brooke - While I’m not the #1 fan of her singing, I thought she did a beautiful and touching job tonight.

  6. Michael - He did a good job, and I appreciate that the song meant alot to him personally. But until he gets back to the soulful thang he did at his first audition, he’s gonna keep losin me little by little.

  7. Syesha - I really like this girl, but I can’t shake the ongoing impression that she sounds a bit too generic for me. It’s like the difference between say a really good singer at a casino bar in Vegas and an actual artist on the big stage.

  8. David H. - I think he’s great, but tonight was definitely his weakest in awhile for me. Felt forced.

  9. Jason - Started out well enough, but as it went on it just started feeling weaker. Take away the goooofy look on that last weak little high note, and it could’ve added to the emotional impact. But…

  10. David A. - Love this kid, but he’s gotta spend his moment down here on the list for forgetting the lyrics if nothing else. Definitely by far his weakest yet.

  11. Ramiele - great voice, but just zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  12. Kristy Lee - Sorry, her time is up, IMO.

it’s going to be an interesting year. my order: 1,2,3 - Chikezie (yes you spelled it right!) Carly and David Cook … I really have always liked chikezie and tonight he brought it big time. but i’m grouping in 3s, lol. I thought Carly brought it big, and enjoyed it this time…she wasn’t planning her every move as she sang. David Cook IS just good, and getting better… i see the hairdo got a little work, not quite so…spiky or whatever.

4,5,6 - Brooke, Michael, and Amanda … I love Brooke’s pure style and voice, i thought Michael sang well, but i still didn’t connect, and i just enjoyed Amanda being Amanda

7,8,9 - Ramielle, Jason, and Syesha — Ramielle sounded very good, but it was boring, sad to say; Jason was a little better, but still… kind of boring; Syesha, i enjoyed but not a lot

10,11,12 - Kristy, David A and David H — I did not enjoy the Davids, I like DH’s voice, but just did NOT feel him at all tonight, and DA…bah humbug! I did think it amusing that DH was singing “she’ll never dance with another….” snicker I DID like the countrified 8 Days, but felt Kristy was still a little contrived and did not relax and get INTO the country atmosphere she could have. Unlike others, i think the song fits quite well in the country genre. I could actually interchange Kristy and Ramielle in the bottom two groups.

Going home? I dunno. Could be Kristy, David H, Ramielle, Amanda or Jason. I’ve not looked at the dialidol listings yet.

Long night over with.

  1. Syesha Mercado- I feel like she’s holding back a little bit…but I agree with Simon: much better than last week…I love her…VOTE!

  2. Chikezie Eze- Great performance. I was surprised…unfortunately…he still isn’t one of my favorites.

  3. Ramiele Malubay- She sounded great, but was a little boring; my sister talked through the whole damn thing about something that happened today… so of what I caught, it was OK.

  4. Jason Castro- I agree with the judges on one thing, and always have, he’s unique; and I actually think he could be his own little recording artist and do well, I just don’t see what all the hype is about with his vocals.

  5. Carly Smithson- Here’s the real deal! She was fantastic. Hey, Kelly Clarkson? Simon said the same thing to Katharine McPhee at this stage too!

  6. David Cook- Nothing makes me happier than to hear brilliant from Simon to someone who deserves it. Simon- YES REMAIN A TALENT COMPETITION! He could win — I like this guy.

  7. Brooke White- Simon’s in love with her…star performance for me, but average vocals…she’s edgy though…I said uh oh, people are doing good…is Syesha in danger?!

  8. David Hernandez- A boring one from one of my favorite singers… oh well, as long as Syesha’s safe.

  9. Amanda Overmyer- WOOO! And no, that’s a Katharine McPhee wooo! She’s singing tomorrow!!!!!! I hope it is something good, like Somewhere Over The Rainbow…not one of her pop singles…because that is not what makes her my favorite Idol. Anyways, Amanda was alright but still not great! One of her better performances, but that’s only fine for now, she can’t last long. But I bet she’ll make the tour. And she does know how to rock it out, which I love.

  10. Michael Johns- At least the slow it down Michael is back…it wasn’t brilliant Paula, but it was good. I want the Bohemian Rhapsody guy back!!! Agree anyone??

  11. Kristy Lee Cook- Mistake— Oh boy…not good…one of the worst performances of the season IMO. Sorry… her fans may keep her through though…hope not. I kinda felt bad for her though… because she’s nice, just not a great, great singer. Think she’ll be in VFTW?

  12. David Archuleta- Is it just me or is this kid definitely being pimped the hell out?! HE JUST CLOSED THE DAMN SHOW 2 WEEKS AGO!!!!! IS THAT FAIR??? I think that’s a little too much. Having said that, he just fell apart, but I dont blame him, I’d probably be the same way. We all know he’s a good singer…just didn’t work. It almost doesn’t matter because he still has that large fan base, including me, that will keep him in until the end.

My Bottom 3: Kristy Lee Cook, Jason Castro, last one’s tough but I’ll pick Amanda?

My Choice to go home: Kristy Lee Cook

Who most likely will be in the Bottom 3: Kristy Lee Cook, unfortunately Syesha?, and … David Hernandez

Who will most likely go home: Kristy Lee Cook- but ya never know.

I’ll post my actual rankings later.

D, something is really wrong with the Dialidol picture.

By Mike S

March 11, 2008 10:55 PM | Link to this

Wow. what a great night. A lot of the contestants really stepped up thier games.

  1. David Cook - Eleanor Rigby - Absolutely friggin awesome. This dude just gets better every week. Move Over Chris Daughtry, David is in da house!

  2. Brooke White - Let it be - This was absolutely beautiful. What a Carly Simon - Carol king vibe I am getting from Brooke. I fall in love with her voice more every week.

  3. Chikezie - She’s A Woman - OK, print this and put it out right now and it is in the top 10. This was Chikezie’s breakout performance. WHO KNEW???

  4. Michael Johns - Across the Universe - An absolute vocal masterpiece. Michael is back!

  5. Carly Smithson - Come Together - Another Week, another superb Carly performance. I tried hard to hate her early on, but she has grown on me more and more every week. Now if she could just get rid of the pscho axe murderer stare when she sings.

  6. Amanda Overmeyer - You Can’t Do That - I absolutely loved this. She has saved herself for at least another week.

  7. Jason Castro - If I Fell - another nice vocal performance from Jason, but I have to admit, he is getting just a little boring. He needs to ramp it up in the next few weeks. Nice sweet singer only works for a few rounds in this competition.

  8. Kristy lee Cook - 8 Days a Week - Ok maybe it is the country fan in me, but I really liked this. No - SERIOUSLY - I LIKED IT, but let’s face facts here, Kristy is not in the same vocal league as everyone else. I liked it, but it was not great.

  9. David Archuleta - We Can Work It Out - What we can’t work out is this DOG of an arrangement. David sang great, but the song sucked canal water, and forgetting the lyrics at this stage is unforgivable. By far his worst performance of the year.

  10. Ramiele Malubay - In my Life - As fast as Brooke and Carly are growing on me, my disappointment in Ramiele grows even quicker. I love her voice, and had her in my top 3 the first two weeks of the top 24, but last week was bad, and this week was just plain boring.

  11. Syesha Mercado - Got To get You Into My Life - Wow, what a difference 3 weeks make. Syesha has gone from my absolute NUMBER ONE to making me wonder if she is going to survive this week. This was a weak forgettable performance.

  12. David Hernandez - I Saw Her Standing There - and I see David standing at the airport catching the next flight home. Another one I had at the top a couple weeks ago, and now he has crashed bigtime. This was an absolute mess.

Who should go home - Based on this week, David Hernandez with Syesha and Ramiele rounding out the bottom 3.

Who will go home - Kristy Lee Cook. I have the feeling more people will agree with Simon than with me about her performance.

Oh my dear Jesus. What did Kristy Lee Cook go off and do? I’m serious that I really want her to stay around for a while. It adds this odd rodeo kind of element to the show. It was country-craziness gone wild! It would be so funny if she make fun of it by having a troup of like, 50 cloggers and a banjo and fiddle band behind her next week. That would be a beautiful honkey-tonk disaster. She could be like the country Sanjaya, except what is odd is that this girl actually can sing.

Ok, I’m doing my actual rankings now… I can’t hold back my thoughts any longer.

  1. Carly Smithson- for me the best of the night

  2. David Cook

  3. Chikezie Eze

  4. Syesha Mercado- I feel like my voting is a waste of time. She’s still at the very bottom of dialidol and if she is voted off then I will be really upset…even if she’s a part of the bottom 3. But man oh man I’d like to call her up and be like Yo Syesha sing your ass off like Chain of Fools and Tobacco Road! Make yourself memorable!!!!! Come on man!

  5. Michael Johns

  6. Chikezie Eze

  7. Ramiele Malubay

  8. David Archuleta- People have him at the bottom, but he’s here not just b/c he’s my favorite guy, but he still sings great. Performance was very difficult though.

  9. Brooke White

  10. Amanda Overmyer- congrats on saving your ass. I was a fan at first, and still sorta am, but after top 24 and top 20, it’s still hard to be a dedicated fan anymore.

  11. Ramiele Malubay

  12. David Hernandez- like you, but gotta step it up.

  13. Kristy Lee Cook- Honestly, I don’t think she’s goin’ anywhere this week though. They may put her in bottom 2 for suspense, but something’s telling me she’s safe.

(This may be a little screwed up, since I had to change numbering a little, I forgot to put some people in)

Chikezie was the pleasant surprise of the night,I give Kristy credit for effort. I think a girl will be the first to go,although I really want David A. to go, I don’t see that happening.I usually have a favorite at this point, but not this year! I really like Jason,David C, Michael and after tonigt Chikezie. I find the girls to be a little boring, although I don’t really dislike any of them. I do not like David A. at all, maybe it’s his personality or maybe it’s because I root for the underdog. I thought Kristi Cook did a beautiful job tonight. Im no fan of David c either. Chekieze is pretty good but I just prefer David A. As we speak, Danny Noriega is text-voting his hot little fingers off for Ramiele. half heart

By Negativo

March 12, 2008 12:31 AM | Link to this

Neg here with his fearless analysis and rankings. One note: In my opinion it was the finest night on idol I’ve ever seen. This group is outrageous.

ONE Jacuzzi: The absolute WOW performance of the season. Dynamic arrangement and equally phenomenal vocals. Unbelievable. I honestly rank this in the top 3 all time performances I’ve ever seen on idol.

Two Carly: First time I’ve agreed with the judges in pimping her. She would have been the top performance any other night, but not tonight.

Three Sayesha: I thought she was a real pro tonight. Totally disagree with the judges saying she looked nervous, because I was actually commenting to the wife during her performance how at home she looks on stage.

Four Mike Johns: He finally picked the right song after three weeks of sucking. This was great, and it was fantastic seeing him back again.

Five Dave Cook: He was very good, but I had a little trouble reconciling Eleanor Rigby to his harder arrangement. I was a little torn, but his talent is obvious.

Six Brooke: She picked the right song and sang it with a lot of feeling and soul. Would like to see more of her vocal range at some point.

Seven Amanda: She rocked it out. Liked it.

Eight Ramiele: I’m conflicted. Beautiful voice, annoying personality, zero stage presence. I honestly believe she has the best voice in the competition, and she sang this song beautifully, but she needs to improve on stage because this year there is no room for error.

Nine Jason Castro: Blah arrangement and blah vocal. He took a step backward after a few good weeks, but it wasn’t terrible.

Ten David H: Not good. I liked his voice, but it was a terrible song selection and he never really sold it. Seemed forced.

Eleven Kristy Cook: Wow was that bad. WTF was she thinking with that? After such a nice job last week she totally went over the top in this cheesy ho-down arrangement. I had to try not to laugh!

Twelve Archuletta: I was certain that Krity’s performance was going to go dopwn as the worst one of the night, until…OUCH-ULETTA! OH MY GOD, what a total meltdown. It seems obvious that he became so full of himself that he didn’t put the necessary time and effort into this performance. Forgetting the lyrics, making pained faces on stage, stumbling and bumbling physically, vocally and mentally. A complete train wreck.

Bottom 3 prediction: Kristy, David H, and David A. Going home: Lap Dancer.

By bena

March 12, 2008 12:46 AM | Link to this

I thought Kristy was a train wreck tonight. Hated the arrangement - the music was frantic. I think you could country up 8 Days, but this was not the way to do it. I also thought David H, David A and Ramiele performed poorly. I agree with Rodney on the bottom 3. Chikezie was the surpirse tonight for me — thought he did a great job on She’s A Woman. I like Jason, too. Not as good as last week, but I like his style. I really enjoyed the movie Across the Universe. I am a huge Beatles fan, and I thought they did a great job on the arrangements.

Well for my opinions on the performances look at Real Lurkers 11:45 post, I agree with her take on Chikezie and David A, RL you saved me a lot of typing. I also really agree with Negativo’s list. You pegged my problem with Ramiele and some of my very thoughts on the others.

What was up with Ryan tonight? I hate to admit this, but I actually really like him. However, he was ultra annoying early on. That bit with Chikezie… Ryan reel it in.

Oh and I loved Simon’s dig that “if this were a talent completion and not a popularity contest…”

By Negativo

March 12, 2008 1:11 AM | Link to this

Yeah, Ryan was so over the top on the Chickee thing…What was that all about? I also get the impression that he has a college girl he’s banging and Simon was giving us some hints.

I think no backlash could ever be more deserving than the one he gets after that crash and burn. I was getting annoyed with him already, and now I really can’t stand him. He is NOT going to be the next American Idol. In fact, he’ll be lucky to survive this week. Maybe he’ll earn VFTW status after this disaster.

Morning All, Ok, you gotta give it up for Chikezie Eze. That boy put it down! Best performance of the night. Poor Kristy Lee, she was a boiling hot mess! I loved Brooke’s heartfelt rendition (sp) of “let it be”, my wife was in tears. I was disappointed by Syesha, and Ramiele’s heart is no longer in this competition now that her “friends” are gone. Kristy Lee or Rameile are gone. Davis will get a pass based on pass performances.

BLAH, It was all so blah. Carley and Chikeze were the best. Everyone else, Meh. It was like watching a karaoke contest with a few good singers, some who overdid it (David H.), Some who underdid it (Ramiele, Jason Castro), and many messes (KLC, David C., and yes, David A.). I hope things pick up soon on this show. I’m bored.

Is it just me or is the Ryan, Paula, Simon antics getting more and more annoying. Top 4 contenders for me are: David C, Mike J, Brooke, and Carly, though at this point any of the four could win it.

Wow… Kristy really rolled the dice, and they came up snake eyes. That was a horrible version of the song, but I have to give her props for trying…

David H: Yeap, Mantic performance, hope he didn’t quit his night job.

Ramiele: She really can sing, but just hasn’t… too many lackluster performances at this point

David A: TRAIN WRECK!!! I seem to disagree with most in that he’s never been a favorite for me, but he’s better then this. He must have been drinking with Paula before the show

Amanda: Sorry, I don’t care for that raspy, ‘I smoke 5 packs a day’, kind of voice. Simon was right, if I didn’t know the song, I’d have never understood what she was singing.

Well, Chickeeze made me eat my words last night(wont be the first time). I dont know what was in his water bottle, but he made me proud.(I was begining to think gee whiz, the black guys cant seem to get it together, not impressed with the black females this year either:-(. But since I am inTO good singers no matter the gender or race..My favorite last night was David Eleanor Risby(My fav. sing by the beatles besides Tell Me Why(you cried) Anna(go with him) and Eleanor Risby which to me was the beatles best(sad lyrics)song. Cook did it justice. For someone reason when he said he would do that song my heart jumped because after his performance last week of Hello..i felt he was gonna dive into Eleanor Risby.and he did just that. Staying true to the melody yet adding a new fresh flavor..Brilliant as Simon said..Watch out for David Cook. Back to back. Love his vocal pitches singing “I look at all the lonely people!” loved it..for some reason when I hear that song lyrics I think of the folks who live alone with no family or friends but mostly the Homeless people of the world, with no place to go and no friends:-( so sad.

Amanda sucks- she ruins every song she sings and has no talent. David A. forgot the lyrics, but is still cute enough that the teens will vote for him. Best of the night IMO, David Cook. He rocks! I’m just surprised at all the people who didn’t like Amanda.. I guess her voice isn’t for everyone.

To me, Carly, Amanda and Chikezie were far better than anyone else on the show. All three are original, great singers. I don’t get all the love for David Arcuhletta, isn’t he Clay Aiken and every other failed singer from this show? Try a new sound.

Shaun -yes the beginning of Chikeze’s song had a definite bluegrass vibe to it. If you like that check out the “Oh Brother Where Art Thou” cd, Allison Kraus, Emmylou Harris, Nickle Creek - first CD especially, the Dan Taminski Band and Union Station. These are some great contemporary bluegrass groups and singers. Also, look for them performing in ATL at the Variety in L5P and the Fox. I’ve seen all of these groups in the ATL area.

Lara, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Syesha goes home. I happen to think she has a great voice but she doesn’t seem to fit in with this group and she strikes me as a very traditional singer rather than one willing to take a risk.

Risks that worked last night: Chikezie! He put himself on the map with that rendition.

Risks that didn’t work: Kristy! She put herself on the map, too but not in a good way.

And before we all start wondering how far down in the votes David A(or Archie as other blogs call him)went, let us not discount the huge sympathy votes that were cast last night to support Mr Aren’t I Adorable. I don’t get the David A hype. I haven’t liked him from the beginning. He’s too young and too full of himself. Sure, he’s an ok singer, but an “idol”, I don’t think so. If he wins, we’re looking at another Jordin Sparks. Where is she now? And Amanda O?? I have to agree with GAPeach, she ruins every song she sings. I can hardly understand anything she says. mornin’ everyone.

if i had to base it on only last night’s performances, David A would go, with Kristy definitely in the bottom 3, and i think, unfortunately, Ramielle. But of course we know that won’t happen. KLC’s arrangement and performance were not what they should have been - 8-days as a country song is actually quite clever; but her way of doing it just, quite frankly, wasn’t good. Ramielle, although she has a beautiful singing voice, is just Boooooooring! (picture Joanne Worley, for those of you old enough to remember Laugh-In) We know DA is safe b/c someone out there is multivoting for him big time. DA getting the most votes puts the lie to Simon’s wish for a pure talent contest vs. a popularity contest, doesn’t it!

Shaun!

Wassup?

I agree on the recommendation by D if you haven’t seen it. Glad to see you want to ‘expand you horizons’ lol…..it does pay to try to give an earnest effort when it comes to being diverse, esp since we live in a diverse community!!

RC

PS - I’d also recommend a modern ‘bluegrass’ band called Nickelcreek. Young folks that are very talented.

By Deirdre

March 12, 2008 9:35 AM | Link to this

RC, I think he’s a very good singer as well. I’m just having one of those visceral reactions to the judges’ pimping of him(much the same as others’ have had for Carly) and the inane teenybopper screaming that goes on whenever he appears. Unless something changes, and last night wasn’t enough, he will win this competition based on the libidos of teen girls rather than his genuine and excellent talent. But there ARE other people who are really interesting and talented in this competition and, at the moment, they don’t have a tinker’s chance in hell of getting any attention thanks to the ‘Archie hype’.

However, this morning, the Regular Guys were reviewing them (well, Larry was) and without the video, it was interesting to me that I actually thought Carly was worse, Brooke better, and I liked Brooke last night, to begin with.

If you all don’t have 12/13 y.o. daughters, you don’t understand their devotion to David A. As soon as I mentioned to my 12 yo, “He forgot the lyrics!” she said “rewind!” and since it was DVR’d (and after 10), she started texting away for him. He may get MORE votes than ever because of that.

Amanda is making me sick, I can’t understand a word she says, but, looking at dialidol, I will not be surprised tonight if Syesha is gone,ro David H. I had forgotten what Syesha sang by the 3rd performance.

And regarding Paula, I think she was drunk last night.

How do you give David Archuleta a B-. He forgot half the lyrics and got flustered. One of the worst of the whole contest. It was a mess. A D at the best. I call it like I see it. At least he has a good voice so I hope Kristy Lee goes. She butchered the song. Not because she sang it in a country style but because she sang it badly. I have hated Chikezie from the beginning but I have to give him props last night. Carly was the best last night IMO.

D you think it’s just the teenyboppers that like him or that they are his biggest supporters? I really haven’t done that much research on it really but was just judging the singing based on my ears. Stranely enough, I think Amanda can hang in there for a while if she chooses the right songs. For some reason I feel her when she performs well…I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder on AI.

Shaun,

Sorry I didin’t see the previous reference to Nickelcreek from ks….but that is correct, the first cd is best!

I like the kid (DA) even though he did screw up last night. Also like Carley because she is at the level of Celine and Whitney.

Have to disagree that little DA is full of himself. Just the opposite! I think the stress is getting to him because unless on stage, he truly is a shy little kids at heart.

My son is also 17, active in band and drama (sings on stage and all that). Has been to a number of state competitions and I can tell you the BIG singers at our high school are rather timid in nature at the core. Only place they feel comfortable is signing on stage performing a song in their genre. Sadly, DA was NOT comfy with that song and he showed how nervous he was going to be in an interview I saw after last week. He’s simply got to get over those nerves!

I cannot imagine my 17 yr old under such pressure. He is GREAT in band and loves the solos (will be 1st chair trumpet next/senior year)…but when he has to get up and sing for drama tryouts, he also forgets words and gets nervous because (and I’ll repeat myself)…he’s out of the comfort zone.

Hey, at 43 I’d cringe at this attention. Gotta give ALL of the contestants credit for handling this pretty well. You know, most have never been in front of a TV camera.

RC, no I don’t think it’s just the teens that like David A. I do think he gets a lot of well deserved votes. My problem is that he seems to be the focus of about half the audience. Most of them are tween age. They are rabid voters and I think David’s high vote counts, superceding everyone else in the competition, are skewed by that. He’s very good but he isn’t THAT much better than some of the others.

Even the famous Soul Patrol couldn’t lift Taylor THAT high on dialidol.

Virginia Mom…I agree…it must be terrifying, especially for someone David A’s age, to stand up there to be judged night after night. I don’t think he’s full of himself. I think he’s been caught up in a whirlwind of hero worship directed at him and the results of that were demonstrated last night. When he doesn’t have a song he’s already sung, he falters.

By Deirdre

However, it would be hypocritical of us to say it was alright for him to miss the lyrics because he was nervous. If any other contestant had missed lyrics last night they would have been fried in oil! The judges were as kind as they could be but I don’t think they would have been with anyone else!

Dear Jay…by the way, I do not know if Paula is ever SOBER. God help that lady. She was so out of it the night of the first 12 guys I could not believe it! Couldn’t even hold her head up and kept it propped up on her hand while her elbow rested on the table.

She’s simply a sad lady (on the inside). You know, a “people pleaser” and they are never really happy. I heard an interview with her once and am certain she’d have blown a 2.0+ on a breathalizer. Then again, maybe it’s her head-meds. I hear the Hollywood crowd takes that stuff like candy.

Either way, she is pretty and personally…I like Simon tormenting her ;>)

Good morning everyone. Well, I was let down by most of the performances, just like Rodney said he was. Deidre and Linny, they should have “listened” to all of us and our suggestions on the blog yesterday. Our song choices were MUCH better than the ones actually selected. AND, I cannot believe that nobody chose “Here, There, and Everywhere.” My favorite last night in a runaway was Chikezie. David A, on pure talent, will recover. I must say I hate his demeanor. He has to improve on that. And, personally, I thought the chorus of “Eleanor Rigby” was fantastic, but the verses were very weak. IMO.

To change the direction for a moment…. how about the set falling apart??? was it the rail behind our “beloved” judges that fell OFF during the show??? or what? i couldn’t tell, but it sure flustered them! and i know i read somewhere that the doors that opened for the 12 to enter got stuck? too funny. can we bring back the ol’ cliche: “haste makes waste”? or “if it’s worth doing at all it’s worth doing right”? i’m sure there are a lot of them, but frankly, while the set was a little different, i’m (1) not sure i like the band “up in the penthouse” as Ryan called it — wonder how the band feels about it (2) the long so-called spiral stairs seemed precarious to me the little they were used (3) i liked the mosh-pit idea but think it needs work on the design with the judges’ pedestal obviously a problem still

Harrietth, LOL!!! right now i’d settle for AI listening to Deirdre and making the judges shut up and quit trying to make the show about THEM. i’ve gotten where i mute the tv after the performance if they start bickering amongst themselves! I thought Jason C should have sung You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away. That would have been much better suited for him than If I Fell - which is one of my favorite early Beatles songs, but just isn’t a good song to sing solo. The harmony between Lennon/McCart is what makes it work. I was pleased with Carly and Amanda, but I was hoping one of them, or perhaps David Cook would have tried “Oh! Darling.” If someone would have sung that and pulled it off, it would have been the best of the night. There are obviously so many great sings to choose from, but I would have loved to hear Yesterday, Ticket to Ride, and maybe even Hey Bulldog would have been interesting. Overall, it wasn’t that great, and this season seems to be full of bad song choosers except for two or three.

Shaun - just a little history on the O Brother dvd - the movie is based on Homer’s the Odyssey. The entire cast is terrific, but my dad - who is a hillbilly mind you, was insulted by the movie. Ug, it was the worst night of American Idol I have ever seen (in the advanced rounds anyway). Stylizing these songs in a different way is fine and all but really you have to understand where the song is coming from if you do that. 80% of these singers had no clue what these songs were all about, either musically or lyrically. For example, I’ve heard jazz versions of Eleanor Rigby that really worked and were still very true to what the song really is. That rock/grunge version last night was disgraceful and didn’t fit the sentiment of the words or what that song really is. You get the feeling he would have done that regardless of what the song was, meaning it wasn’t his “interpretating of the song” — he really didn’t give a damn what the song was. Even worse was Accross the Universe which is really a meditative, spiritual sort of song that last night was turned into a Ford Truck commercial! I am really disappointed with the increasingly limited palette and musical vocabulary that performers have these days. No matter what you ask them to do, it all comes out the same: either it’s hip hoppy, country, or grungy. And no matter what the lyrics, the expression in the vocals is always in the nature of an “I love you/I need you” song. One of the remarkable things about the Beatles, at least from 1965 on, is how few of their songs are “I love you/I need you” songs. In fact I don’t think there’s even one such song on the entire Sgt. Pepper album. These days, no one it seems can get beyond that very simplistic rut. What’s happened?

GREAT job! I love Jason’s sweetness. Michael Johns did my favorite Beatles song and did a fantastic job. Loved Brooke. HATED David A. - dude, he FORGOT the words! He totally grosses me out with the lip licking. IMO, he can sing songs that he knows and has probably performed before, but he screws up the new stuff. Kristy’s vocals didn’t jive with the music. That just didn’t work. Almost forgot David C. I liked it a lot, but he was a little flat on the low notes. I usually love David H., but not good last night. Also, Syesha was just so-so.

routsi…totally agree on Eleanor Rigby, not so much on Across the Universe. The biggest problem last night was NOT keeping the songs simple, IMO. The Beatles were never afraid of being straight forward and to the point…they didn’t fancy their ideas up with runs and quirks and other musical stuff that everyone is so into today.

The hoedown was almost insulting. However, I thought the bluegrass into rock interpretation of She’s a Woman would have pleased Lennon a lot!

The “limited palette and musical vocabulary that performers have these days” is really no different than the limited palette and musical vocabulary of yesterday. The palette may have changed, but the limited scope of it has not.

One of the great things about Idol isn’t that it ruins good songs, but it revitalizes interest in the original version of those songs. Personally, I feel like going out and buying a Beatle box set.

Ruotsi - truthfully - there are very few singers who sing outside of their comfort zone - from any era. The Beatles were an exception, but you had these four amazing guys who blended their styles so well and moved from one genre to the other with grace and panache. Some of my favorite singers, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Carol King, etc.. you know immediately just from the voice and the style of the song, so you can’t blame these kids for taking a song and making it over in the style they are familiar with. I spoke of Nickel Creek earlier - here is a young group using traditional bluegrass instruments and I’ve heard them re-interpret the Beatle’s Taxman and Nirvana’s Lithium into songs that are absolutely amazing. I like to see what a singer will do with someone else’s song. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but at least they tried to make it their own and breath new life into it. (Lionel Richie’s Hello - I loved that rendition, was it last week?)

I honestly think the contestants are put in an untenable position with a theme like lennon/mccartney.. if they do it straight, they inevitably fall short because they’re not john lennon or paul mccartney, and if they try and change it up they get crucified for messing with pop perfection. I thought David Cook and Chikezie were the top two singers last night, along with Brooke.. I also considered Kristy Lee’s performance one of the worst ever on the show in 7 years. the song could have easily been countrified.. it was the music that ruined it.. it’s not a frenetically paced song and the music seemed too much.. bad decision..

Neg, WE, let’s face it the Idol results show needs some comedy. The Simon – Ryan banter just doesn’t cut it. What we need is a montage of songs slapped together with some bad choreography to provide us with the hope of humor. We need the good laugh that the group sing provides to get us over the agony of realization that David A. could suck every night for the next 10 weeks and still win the whole thing. It’s a sobering thought, that can only be cured by a good dose of cheese.

Hi You Guys/Gals! I have just finished reading all the comments and enjoyed them this time. It seems like the consenus is that David H just may be the one that is leaving tonight. Also, the bottom three seems to be agreed upon, Ramiele, Kristy Lee and David H. Not a good night last night, I was disappointed in the fact that these were Beetle songs and some were butchered beyond belief. Forgetting the lyrics - not so good. I will have to agree with GaPeach that Amanda should stick with what she knows best….nursing, as she had to attend college for that and had to pass exams. She needs to go home pretty soon. Also, I agree with WarEagle. Let the contestants choose their own songs without having to select one from a theme. Changes are contestants have probably not heard of some of the songs they have to choose from. But, on the underhand, if you have a talent to sing, you should be able to sing any song. I have family in Troup County (LaGrange). Wonder if you know them. My brother graduated from LaGrange High. Hopefully, next week will be a much better week. Can’t wait to see who does infact leave tonight. Tomorrow we will have alot to chat about.

AI knows how to suck us in. Now for the next 11weeks they are going to milk us. real smart AI..it must work..i cant seem to stop watching! Its a conspiracy! You say to yourself I aint watching! Then you have it on in the background. You hear either Simon or Ryan say something off the wall, it catches your attention..the next thing you know your watching the whole damn show until the end! I really wish I knew how they goad me into tunning into it! How could I be so eazy?

I really don’t see where all this love for David Cook comes from. He has an attitude big time. Never liked David A. from the start either. Chikezie was awesome last night. I would like that arrangement on my i-pod. Kristy Lee Cook was told by Simon to take a risk and she did just that. She definitely has a country voice, just didn’t really cut it last night. I voted for her anyway and I hope she makes the top ten.

They have a system B-shep! And it works. I keep watching and every year I enjoy it as much as the year before even though I complain! :-)

MCM…David C really got my attention with his version of Hello last week…this week, I’m back to wondering what’s so good about him. Not my favorite version of Eleanor Rigby by a long shot!

All the pedophiles and sex offenders are voting for the little guy..David A.

Like with poems, the interpretation is really up to the reader, as opposed to the writer, wouldn’t you say? I think the rocked out “Daughtry version” (so to speak) of Eleanor Rigby worked. It is a sad song, but one of frustration as well - in my mind, as I read the lyrics. I think he did a good job. I do hope that he quits the winking at the camera bit - Creepy Constantine did that way too many times.

They all have they’re little ticks, don’t they? I guess it comes from being nervous. I’d probably look like somebody poured itching powder down my back if I was doing what they are.

I guess I just didn’t like the angry feel of David C’s interp. But I can see where it would work.

d-dre I say whatever system they (AI) have must be fool proof. I mean here I am last night on my brand new computor of 3wks..completely engrossed with all of its new gadgets..saying I wasnt going to watch AI.(yet it was on my tv in the background.) Then I hear something to the affect that “you need to button that up after all this is a family show..” then I hear a reply something about” thats being disrespectful to me..” I think it was Ryan commenting about how far down Simon shirt was unbuttoned..duhh wouldnt have noticed until he pointed it out. Anyway, after that lil dig..then I couldnt turn away from the set. I guess I am guilty just like the rest of you..love on screen on edited Live Drama. lol..Dont know how live AI is(I still think some parts are prerecorded) But they seem to leave many lil digs and eye brow raising comment from Ryan and Simon, in there. And when your really listening closely..you catch quite a few lil off the wall remarks by both ryan and simon. why dont they just get a room together! they already act like an old married couple. Constantly digging at each other..yeah we know its love but fellas can you kind of keep it to yourselves or atleast when the camara’s stop rolling!

Can’t say that I blame Ryan for mentioning Simon’s unbuttoned shirt. He looked like he hadn’t finished dressing…and somebody needs to tell Simon that leaving those buttons undone went out in the ‘80’s.

Oms(oh my stars!) you mean you didnt feel david cooks version of Eleanor Ribsy? Ok..maybe you didnt care for the rock edge..I thought it was amazing. Never heard anyone sing it like that..I especially like his repeated refrain at the end “I look at all the lonely people” a cross between daughtry and bruce springsteins..rough wail..lol..His voice tone was better then Scary Rocker girls. If she dyed her hair back normal we wouldnt know who the hell she was and think they stuck a new constestant in there. come on. halloween is months away! get rid of her.

LOL, B-shep but I think you’re right. We might not even recognize Amanda if she changed her hair.

Although, they had her looking a lot ‘softer’ last night, longer hair, softer texture. However, she still dressed like a circus clown..she was just missing the big feet and the red bulb nose.

Simon needs to pay attention to his dress code like he does the contestants. Come on, white, gray and black is all I’ve ever seen on the man!!!! I guess when you have his bucks, you can dress anyway you want. Ryan also needs to get a grip on his personality. I thought he had flipped out last night. Maybe some of Paula is effecting Ryan & Simon. Oh well TEHO (to each his own. Still can’t wait to see who gets the boot tonight.

My favorites are David Cook, Brooke White, and David A. I think that Ramielle or Kristi Lee Cook will go home tonight. On another note, does anyone else get sick of seeing an audience waving their hands in the air?

Raydell, that would be yes from me. I wonder if they are guided to do that by the producers.

Seacrest is such a douche! He said the song was “Gotta Get You Into My Life.” Shame. I wonder if this was the first time he heard Beatles’ music?

You would think that with the moolah that Simon is making, he could afford to shop somewhere other than old Navy. And the unbuttoned shirt….it did need some help. But you know, some women like that kinda thing.

I agree - Simon’s shirt was like the old men in speedos thing, ewwww. Who else noticed Ryan’s faux hawk?? Grow up. And I usually like Ryan ‘cause he can make fun of himself, but it’s getting a little old.

Hey thanks Flats. Good to know that I was missed. Been busy hiring and firing people. Sometimes I wonder if it pays to be in Human Resources. Hate to fire someone. Back to AI, Ryan is getting alittle full of himself and I really don’t need to say anything about Simon and Paula. Does anyone else besides me think there may be some hanky panky going on between the two of them? Remember a few yrs back when they showed S & P sitting at a table and the kiss he laid on her, WOW, WOW, that could sure get your juices flowing. They need to get a new format instead of a new stage (which doesn’t work too good). If he kept putting his hands on me like he does Paula, I would really have to deck him. Tomorrow we will have alot to chat about after tonight. Everyone thinks that David H will be going home, but I really wish it would be skunk girl (Amanda). She absolutely doesn’t have what it takes to become the next AI. Can you imagine being in the hospital and she comes into your room during the middle of the night and you see the hair and makeup. That would either cure you or kill you. She needs to go, and the sooner the better. Do I hear agreements? I will let someone else post for now but I will be back soon.

* Asia’h ignored the fact that two others have sung Whitney’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and got voted off. Well, let’s hope nobody makes that mistake a FOURTH time.

Actually it would be a FIFTH time. One contestant in S3 sang it and was voted off, but was invited back to the Wildcard show that year. The song has been sung four times on Idol and all four singers were eliminated by the voters. Incredible but true. (Source: the WhatNotToSing.com database for I Wanna Dance With Somebody )
