7/8: Kimberley Locke, Chris Sligh, Ace Young coming to Atlanta July 26
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I’m going to miss three “Idol” alums who are coming to Atlanta Saturday, July 26. (I’ll be in Chicago that day for a convention.)
-Season two finalist Kimberley Locke is showing up at the gay Midtown club Wet Bar. She’s obviously gay friendly. She came last year, too. It’s at 960 Spring Street.
And in a complete contrast, season six finalist and contemporary Christian artist Chris Sligh is joining 104.7/The Fish. for “Fish Family Night” at Jimmy’s Mad Mad Whirled in Marietta at 9 p.m. The photo is him with Kevin and Avery, the morning hosts for the show from March.
Ace Young is coming to Wild Bill’s the same night. His album, out July 15th, is now available for streaming on AOL here.. His publicist just told me about the Wild Bill’s date so it’s not up yet on the Web site but check here for more details when they become available.
“(Young and Lewis) took a huge step to be in control of their records,” says My Rocket Science director of digital media Alicia Yaffe, who is working with both artists. And while this allowed them creative control with little label interference, they face the challenge of getting that music heard.
-And for the five of you left still watching “Nashville Star,” Pearl Heart and Navy dude Tommy Stanley were surprisingly ousted - especially before high school talent show act Lauren and Sophie. Pearl Heart naturally had a great performance (for them) before getting ousted. Tommy didn’t even get to sing. Very odd way of doing things there at “Nashville Star.” And John Rich was plain grouchy towards annoying Shawn Meyer and vocally limited Coffey. And while Gabe Garcia has the best male vocals left (out of two), he is still lacking in the charisma department. Melissa Lawson was okay but isn’t improving much in my mind. Ashlee Hewitt is simply okay to me. Personally, I have no real favorite here because we won’t be seeing much of any of them after this show ends.

From what I have seen so far, I think a male singer will win AGT.

Diana DeGarmo performed at Wet Bar last week too. I was more surprised she was there considering she’s now pursuing country music. Good for her (and Kim) though.

Sorry Harmony. I was actually rooting for Christina. Petrozza is a great guy, but Christina did better overall.

Good Morning Mushbloggers. Hope you all had a good night.
I will attempt to get my comments in before I get swamped. Already at the offcie and working on my 4th cup of coffee and its not even 7:00 yet.
NS: Finally got to watch my tape. L & S need to GROW UP. Their behavior was so teenage girlish. Getting mad and walking away saying things such as “I don’t want to see her anymore”, “I’ve had enough of her”, etc. You get the picture. Their performance was plain awful. Wasn’t surprised that Tommy went. While I admire his military duties, he needs to improve on his singing.. Coffey, what can I say? He didn’t do Proud Mary justice at all. Don’t care for him. Shawn and the blonde are just okay. Shawn has an attitude that needs much improvement. I understand that she is constantly being put down by JR (and he is a smart a**), but she needs to take into considertion he is saying instead of shooting her mouth off and shedding tears. No way should PH have gone home. Their performance was excellent. I hope they end up with a contract. Now to the top two, Gabe and Melissa. They were both good with Melissa out performing Gabe.
AGT: The blonde who sung Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” was totally awesome!!! She has a set of pipes. The little 11 y/o contortionist was not bad. No way could I ever get my body in those positions. But IMO, the best of the night was the A/A man who did the last performance. He was EXCELLENT. I guess I’m a sapsucker, because when he cried and when his Mom cameon stage, I cried along with them. Even Springer was wiping tears. The man they showed for next week was amazing, the little bit of his performance they allowed us to see.He should really be worth watching.
I know this is long but I wanted to get as much said as I could before I get busy. Will try to be more active and converse more today, if time permits.

mornin’ mushblog world… let’s get this out of the way first … nice game, bravos, now just try to KEEP it UP! no comment in reply necessary (ahem)
re-watched NS while hubby caught up last night, and still am upset that the brats are still on while PH had to go home; however, i think working with Jeffrey Steele on an album rather than with JR is huge plus. They should do well, and i’ll support ‘em by buying their release!
AGT-I agree, the black guy who sang opera, the R&B guy last night, the elvis impersonator, even the sinatra old guy, all are good, and there’s more to come, and i agree, the gal who sang ‘before he cheats’ was really nice! bluesy-country-jazzy sound and a lovely lovely voice.
i misunderstood i guess, i thought audition shows were almost over, but apparently we still have a few to go through. i enjoy THESE auditions, because there’s no pretense up front that it will be “good” — the whole idea is that there are a LOT of very very different “talents” out there and we are going to see a whole lotta stuff we don’t normally see.
Have there been any GOOD ventriloquists this year? i know with the win of a ventriloquist last year, they’ll probably shy away from that category a little, to spread the wealth, but i don’t recall seeing any who were good yet.
ok, like Menana, i’m off to be swamped with other things, and will see you guys later!
have a great day!
oh. wow. i don’t believe i said that… i’ve tried to avoid that phrase for what, 20 years now, since it became the substitute for “goodbye” LOL!!!
Cya!

Morning!
Lots of things to do today but all of them are better than sitting in a hospital lab waiting room for 2 hours to get a 2 minute blood test…with an 87 year old woman whose back is aching.
And another thing…if you ever see someone pushing a wheelchair and heading for a closed door…PLEASE go open the door. Hospitals and doctors’ offices are all supposed to be handicap friendly but…most of them have doors going into the office(off a hallway) that don’t stay open…so you have to maneuver the wheelchair into a special position , open the door, hold the door with your foot and push or pull the wheelchair through. I count 3 bruises on my left arm just from doors or edges of doors catching me on the way through.
Other than that…yesterday was just fine! :-)

D: Bless your heart. People can be so insensitive sometimes. I see the same thing happening at my doctors office, along with the fact that they will not move out of the way or make room for a wheelchair. These people need several lessons in MANNERS!!!!!!
So to D: HERE IS A BIG HUG TO YOU!!!!
By Deirdre
July 9, 2008 10:47 AM | Link to this
Menana…you might wanna hold on to that hug…people who don’t get out of my way while I’m pushing the wheelchair get their ankles clipped followed by an extremely insincere….Oh did I do that??? So sorry! :-)
I’m already short on patience with my mom ‘front seat driving’ the wheelchair…I don’t need ANYBODY getting in my way!!!
But I DO appreciate the sympathy. I’ll try to get a little more upbeat later! I may not be through with venting yet! :-)

Good morning all. Yay! Almost halfway through the week.
D - it sounds like you have had a really difficult couple of WEEKS, not just yesterday. I am so sorry and hope you have a couple of days coming to rest a little and catch your breath!
Not only are people rude (not helping with the door) but how incredibly rude and insensitive is it to have appointments with a doctor, etc. and be kept waiting for hours! Especially when the person waiting is elderly, in pain, etc. If I’m 10 minutes late for a doctors appt, they won’t see me and they charge me $30 for a missed appt! However, if I wait in their office for 2 hours after my scheduled appt, it’s no problem!

Ok, First…I will say good morning blogsters.
Second - thanks a whole heckuva lot for the spoiler on Hell’s Kitchen. I have not watched it, Tivo didn’t tape and I have it set up to record on Sunday. But now, thank you (SARCASM!!!), I already know who won!!! Sorry, had to vent….
I will be out of town the weekend all of the former AI’s are here performing….oh well. Thanks for the info, Rodney!

Thanks Dawn…to be fair, the 2 hour wait was at a lab to get blood tests done, not at the doc’s office. Mom’s doc’s are pretty good about seeing her fairly quickly.
I will be getting a break soon. Hubby and I are going to LA to celebrate our anniversary and Mr. Hollywood’s birthday(not the same day, just the same month)We’ll be there for 3 days and I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!

D: Don’t worry about the hug. I have plenty. No shortages on them. Your statement on “Did I do that” reminds me of Steve Erkle. I think he was on the sitcom Family Matters. Go ahead and vent, as you are certainly entitled. But things will get better.

Flats, if you’re out there, explain to me this: 1/16th of an inch caused a driver to be penalized, because his car was 1/16th of an inch too narrow? that’s a freaking coat of paint, for goodness sake! Geez, did they re-measure to be sure they weren’t holding the freaking tape wrong the first time? i was flabbergasted, LOL!!! can you ‘splain to me why that’s such a big deal????

SYTYCD is tonight. We’ll see if they are with the same partners or if the change occurred.

Menana, I don’t watch SYTYCD every week, so I am rather out of the loop on it. I know they partner with each other, but what how do they select who will dance with whom? And, is it entirely equitable across the board? And what about chemistry or lack thereof? Clue me in, ok? I don’t entirely understand. I’ve watched just enough episodes to have sparked these questions. Thanks for any insight you may give me.

New blog entry up. I’m sure AGT purposely kept ventriloquists off the show (for the main judges) because of Terry Fator. Also, no Blake-like beat boxers like that gal last year.
