8/8: Clay Aiken’s baby has arrived!

clay aiken 2008 album.jpg

TMZ reports that Clay Aiken now has a son named Parker Foster Aiken.

Aiken provided the sperm for his friend 50-year-old Jaymes Foster to be artifically inseminated. This is similar to the David Crosby/Julie Cypher/Melissa Etheridge deal a few years back.

Aiken’s mom Fayes told a local Raleigh, N.C. TV station that the dark-haired Parker weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz and was 19” long. She says her son is “smiling from ear-to-ear.”

Aiken and Foster met while he was on the “American Idol” in 2003. She’s the sister of record mogul David Foster.

According to msnbc.com,, he posted the following note on his Web site (though I didn’t see it on the home page.)

“My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited,” Aiken wrote. “Wow … 8:08 … 08/08/08. The little man is healthy, happy and as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also.”

Well well. Congrats to Mr. Aiken and Ms. Foster. I have no doubt this child will be well-cared for, at least!

Everyone have a lovely weekend, now heah? y’all come back again soon!

i’m loving the peace and quiet, frankly!

Congrats to Clay and Jaymes and to little Foster Parker. A healthy baby is always a blessed event.

It has really been quite today, but some days are like that.

But think of all the joy and happiness that the baby will bring into their lives.

I was just reading CNN under the US tab about a couple in Winston-Salem that beat their 19 day old infant so severely that we was hospitalized for: (1) Skull Fracture; (2) Internal bleeding; (3) Bleeding in the brain; (4) 8 broken ribs; (5) damaged liver; and (6) broken collar bone. This baby is ONLY 19 days old. Both parents have been arrested.

Nana, I am sure that baby will be loved and adored - all babies and children should be loved and adored. I don’t know, I think it’s the process, the ages, the fact that it is Clay Aiken and the picture it puts in my head…

As for that couple in W/S… Screw arresting them. I believe they should be continually beaten and set on fire, without being allowed to pass out, fall asleep, or eat while being beaten and set on fire, and not allowed to die from being beaten and set on fire - for weeks - maybe for as long as the child is old (19 days)! After that, once they have completely healed, they get the death penalty with death being immediate - no 25 years of appeals. No gentle injection - maybe hanging, electric chair, or the guillotine.

What the #@%& could a 19-day old baby do that would make you react like that!

I also have suggestions for punishment for abuse of the elderly, abuse of animals, and child molesters if anyone is interested.

The parents of that baby should be beaten like they beat that baby…..

JJ i have to agree — no molly-coddling of the parents in a nice jail cell with 3 squares a day, tv, and free legal services. In this kind of case, an “eye-for-an-eye” should be the rule of the day. Punishment in kind … what you did is what you will have done to you!

horrible!!!!

Dawn, to answer your question about what could a 19-day old do — probably colic-y and crying constantly. NOT that it’s any kind of excuse, but that’s probably what it was. Happens WAY too often!!!

i’m queasy from the thought of THOSE parents way much more than i am by Clay and Jaymes using some sort of artificial means to create a child.

Hi Ya’ll and Happy Friday. GAgirl checking in from CA. I think Clay will make a great Dad. Dawn I understand your thoughts on the process. I had similar feelings when my daughter went thru the artificial insemination process to have a child, which she desperately wanted. I had very mixed emotions but I look at my beautiful little granddaughter every day and thank God we have her. She is such a joy. I agree with ya’ll about the couple abusing their child. No purnishment is harsh enough for anyone who hurts children, animals or the elderly. Hope all have a wonderful weekend.

I agree wholeheartly with your punishment of the parents. IMO, death is to good for them. They already had one child that is being raised by her grandparents. I just hope and pray that the parents DO NOT get this baby back. I had posted several weeks back that I was a foster parent in the 70’s and I got a baby that was 3 days old and raised her until she was 18 months. DFCS took her back and gave her back to her single mom and 6 weeks later the child was beaten to death by the mom’s boyfriend. That was like losing my own child. The mom got 20 years, the b’friend life without parole. So I have zero tolerance for any kind of abuse for ANY living creature. I will gladly pull the switch.

Yes, in vitro, artificial insemination. Clay Gaiken knows nothing about stabbing the beaver. And the mother, Jaymes Foster(-Levy), how nice of the divorcee to help clarify Mr. Gaiken’s sexuality. But then again, maybe they tried natural methods but her age made natural conception more difficult. BUT, I still say he knows nothing about vaginal coitus.

By Dana

August 8, 2008 3:52 PM | Link to this

Stop it with the sexuality s**. He said he isn’t gay. Oh and Rodney, there’s a reason for having to use in vitero. The mother couldn’t conceive without help because of her age. There is a big difference between IVF and artificial insemination. You don’t want to look ignorant do you?

Has it been like this all day or was I just lucky to get home in time for the freak show? And I’m not referring to Clay Aiken and Jaymes Foster.

Congrats to the new parents. Doesn’t matter how this precious baby was conceived..it only matters that he will be loved by his two parents. That’s better than a lot of so-called “normal” parents are capable of doing. Just read Nana’s 1:52 pm post for the perfect example.

OK - No one here can confirm that Clay is gay. He denies it. I personally do not believe being gay prevents you from being a wonderful parent, and I am sure Clay will be a great parent.

I do not have a problem with artificial insemination. I believe it is a feasible solution for those who want to be parents but can’t have children the natural way.

What gets me is their ages, particularly Jaymes at 50, and the difference in their ages. It may have been artificial insemination, but the thought or picture of Clay providing that sample is, well eeeewwww. Just my lowly opinion…

Cool on Clay’s baby. The ‘torture parents’ of the other kid should get punishment at least as severe. Whether Clay is gay or not should be irrelevant except to someone who wishes to sleep with him. Atlanta may be full of Southern Hospitality, but many are happy to share their bigoted and racist opinions (I know, opening Pandora’s Box here). If ya’ll show this much hatred in postings I shudder to think what you are teaching your kids.
At least Clay’s kid will probably be taught to have an open mind…

If you will notice, and if you read this blog regularly, the people posting the most “hate-filled” comments are NOT regulars here, but have come onto the blog because it’s on the “front page” of the online AJC. This happens on occasion when people who have issues have google alerts so they can go post their rantings and ravings for the world to see. For the most part, these people go away quickly, and we don’t see them again. At least until the next time Clay is mentioned in the “headline”. So please do not judge all of us by the inane and inappropriate comments of others.

Besides … it’s an open, unmonitored for content blog, with the exception of vulgarity etc for the most part. Posts that could lead to libel problems are usually deleted, but for the most part, people ARE free to express their opinions here, from uuugh to T to Annette to others before, and i am sure, to come.

and yes, uuugh, i tend to agree with PART of your post that the kids raised with closed minds ARE to be pitied. However, please remember that what is “truth” to YOU may be the exact opposite of what someone else feels is “truth” … perhaps (sometimes) unfortunately it leads to some rather diverse opinions which are indeed diametrically opposed. SOMETIMES however, if we are patient and tolerant, we teach others, and learn from others, and a little piece of the world gets better for it, yes?

peace to you all, may your weekend be cooler than the past week or so, LOL!!!

Haven’t posted since this afternoon, but have been reading the comments. I realize this is a public blog to anyone who wants to voice their opinion, but when the comments become bigoted and defamation of ones character, I find it offensive. No one that has been negative about Clay’s sexuality does NOT have the right to judge him. Even if he is gay, that is his right and it does not interfere with your life. How would you feel if people judged you the way you all are judging him? Think about what you are saying and ask yourself if you would want someone saying the same things about you. I know I wouldn’t. A person’s personal life is just that, * Personal* and if any of you do not know the meaning of personal, look it up in the dictionary. I’m sure that Rodney didn’t mean to create a stir about Clay’s sexuality when he announced the birth of his and Jaymes’s baby, so give Rodney the respect he deserves as a reporter as he was reporting the wonderful news of a baby’s birth, and that my friends is a blessing from God.

I expect to have repercussions from this post, but I can handle them. The question is, can you handle my comments?

By ,,,=^..^=,,, from home

August 9, 2008 12:17 AM | Link to this

you go Nana!!!

this unfortunately is and will continue to be a recurring problem; there will always be a facet of the population who look forward to finding someone to disrespect. unfortunately, the rumors about Clay (and others) being gay have long been out there, so some people will just lay in wait for one of those names to hit the headline so they can come “out” and post their venomous comments, and the sole purpose is to stir people up and cause dissention.

As I said before, you will find the regulars here are tolerant, patient, and generally appalled by race baiting, gay baiting, or any OTHER nastiness that plagues our society — however, because this is a “public” blog with virtually no “host” to monitor comments, we are subjected to the ugliness periodically.

my recommendation is to generally try to ignore the comments, because if we don’t rise to the bait, the “fishing lines” tend to go away fairly soon. unfortunately, there will always be one or two who continue to try to cause dissention.

lest anyone think otherwise, this is in NO way defending people who disrespect others, in any form. All i’m saying is that paying attention and responding to their comments gives them fuel to continue.

Nana, you said a mouthful, hon, and i am glad you did. I just don’t want to see you get caught up in someone’s trouble-making, because that’s what it is. I sometimes think these people don’t REALLY care what the topic is; if they can find a way to make a NEGATIVE comment, they will, just to see who they can get upset. Race, age, size, gender, hell, probably height and shoe size…anything that they can get you to get upset about, they’ll use.

it’s a sickness! i truly believe it.

i say again “GO NANA” you ROCK! LOL

have a great weekend!

Congrats to Clay and Jaymes on the birth of their son. And thanks to all parents, straight or gay, who welcome a child into their lives, either by birth or adoption, especially children that are difficult to place. These people provide these children with unconditional love, support, and a family life which, if I remember, is God’s wish. Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of these is Love.

Anybody watch the opening ceremonies last night? I thought they were very nice….quite beautiful. The drums were amazing, loved the world with the athletes.

Bob Costas kinda annoyed me with his insistence that some things were the ‘best ever’. Like the torch lighting. It was spectacular, no doubt about it…but my favorite torch lighting was the arrow of fire flying over the torch. That was in a Scandinavian country, I believe, but I don’t remember for sure…anybody know? I also loved the fire that rose from the water to light the torch in France.

Is there any way to move the athletes along a little faster? I know it’s their ‘moment’ but most of them were just strolling along like they had all the time in the world.

why do people have to put a negative spin on such a joyous celebration? Who CARES if Clay is straight or gay…as long as he is a good father?? Most of the men who “father” children don’t stick around long enough to even find out who their kids first grade teacher is!! Here is a man who used whatever means he had to so he could enjoy the passion of real fatherhood. I applaude him….straight, gay…it’s of no consequence to me. Just be a good dad, Clay. Phil…gotta be better than having the parents described in the 1:52pm post yesterday!

By Nana

August 9, 2008 11:48 AM | Link to this

Phil: One question to you……

If you had a choice when you were born, had you rather have had parents who would love, protect, and support you OR parents who abused you to the point of serious injury or maybe even death? Think long and hard about this question before you answer.

By ,,,=^..^=,,, from home

August 9, 2008 12:08 PM | Link to this

another question for phil might be — how does he know that Jaymes is a wierdo? yes, she’s a 50 year old divorcee with a strange name (not HER fault!) who wanted a child and an apparently valued and cherished friend also wanted a child. We don’t know ANYthing more than they both wanted a child, are apparently close friends, and they did what was necessary for her to carry a child to term.

Now, unless they are abusive to that child, it’s not our call about their personal method of raising that child! I don’t KNOW that Clay is gay; it’s been rumored, and denied, but regardless… if he’s a good parent to that child, if he loves and takes an interest in that child, provides for that child … not a single one of us who don’t even KNOW the man, or the mother, have a right to judge his choice to HAVE that child. Unfortunately for the child, because CA is a “public” person, there will be cameras and gossip about him and his parents.

For example, I’d be much more concerned with how the Federline children are growing up with Britney as a mother (even only part time and supervised) than i would about Clay and Jayme raising a child. And their (britney and kevin) marriage — short as it was — was “normal” — man+woman=child — if ANYthing about her is normal, LOL.

This IS still America, and despite some attempts to remove our freedoms, we STILL have the right to conceive and parent children.

just sayin’

Prior to Mr. Aiken’s success on American Idol and in the recording studio, he was a Special Education teacher…working with AUTISTIC CHILDREN. Early on, he took a portion of the money he made as an entertainer and founded a charitable organization known as the “Bubel-Aiken Foundation”, geared to helping CHILDREN with special needs. It is obvious to most people that there is a very human side to this talented man, who was ready make special CHILDREN his life’s work. It is unfortunate, indeed, that all some of the posters on this page can do is zero in on his PRESUMED sexual preference! Gay or straight, Clay Aiken will make an excellent father. My congratulations to the new parents and welcome to Parker Foster Aiken (no hyphens)!

My daughter who also is a special needs teacher in Gwinnett County said that is one of the hardest but MOST rewarding jobs. She has been doing it for 8 years and loves it. She started in elementary grades and last year went into the high school grades. She has been spit upon, kicked, punched, bitten, had a busted nose and lip, slapped, but she still would not trade her profession. Working and teaching special needs children take a certain type of person. I see this in my daughter as well as Clay. Again, I will reiterate what has already been said, both Clay and Jaymes will be exemplary and extraordinary parents to their little bundle of joy!!!!!

Good morning blog friends! Whew! I have been on a round robin for over a week now. First, I took five days, beginning Aug. 2, to go to the beach, then came back Wednesday afternoon (the 6th). Back to work on Thursday, only to find that I had an aunt who had died and the funeral was in Charlotte on Friday. Nobody had my cell number, so I only got e-mail notification when I got back to work. Storms prevented my leaving after work on Thursday, so I hurriedly left very early Friday morning for the Charlotte funeral, which was at 10:00 AM in a part of town I had never been to. Back to Columbia late afternoon, then the next day all the folks who had been at the beach with me returned to town. Two of them stayed overnight, so I had to entertain and cook for them. They only left yesterday morning, and I collapsed on the couch and did not move until afternoon. I must say, it is going to be a refreshing change to be back at my desk!

Sounds like we had some very strange folks blogging on the subject of Clay Aiken. You all took care of that, though! Hope all is well.

Nana,

I think Isaac Hayes’ death is especially poignant, since he obviously died while trying to take steps to prolong his life. They found him dead beside his treadmill, which was still running.

Hey Flats, are you sure college ball is still going to happen? I hear that your team is steadily getting itself suspended.

Welcome back harrietth. Yes, I read that on CNN. Trying to be healthy and take care of himself. I only hope that his death was instantaneously and he didn’t lay in the floor and suffer any pain.

Good morning everyone! I watched the Olympics over the weekend and, WOW, were the opening ceremonies incredible! I also enjoyed our swim team kicking the French’s behind. When are they going to admit that, if it weren’t for the U.S. saving their butts, they wouldn’t be French - they would be German!

Does anyone else feel like the announcers are really hard on the U.S. athletes. They seem to compliment, rave about, and otherwise fawn over the other teams but if a U.S. athlete makes the slightese mistake… well, they are just soooo critical.
