9/5: It’s video day with Ace Young, Jordin Sparks & David Cook
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Not much in the way of news so here are some random videos I scrounged up online:
-Ace Young inexplicably ran the Nasdaq opening bell Thursday morning. He joins “Grease” as Kenickie next week. When can I ring the opening bell???? And honestly, in this day and age, who actually needs an opening bell?
-MTV did a story in advance of this Sunday’s VMAs, interviewing the director for the VMA nominated video for “No Air” with Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks.
Chris Robinson, the video’s director, revealed that Sparks’ sheer determination made her a pleasure to work with.
“She’s focused and a worker,” he told MTV News. “She sang her heart out on every take for 18 hours. I told her to ‘take it easy, this is going to be a long day,’ but I think she only knows how to give everything her all. It’s refreshing to see that.”
I remember interviewing Jordin in February right before she went to shoot this video in New York City. The song was already showing signs of becoming a hit and ultimately hit No. 1.
The video on YouTube has been viewed a whopping 42.77 million times.
-This video is from the taping of “Oprah.” You can hear David Cook’s “Time of My Life” but the person was way too far back for you to tell much of anything going on otherwise.
-The Grand Rapids Pressd gave Ramiele Malubay one of the few raves I’ve ever seen. Perhaps the only one. I mean, who paid off this writer?
Teeny Malubay did impress with her outsized pipes though; without the nerves of competition her true talent shone through.
