9/9: Blake Lewis coming to Atlanta October 20, my favorite interview subjects
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
This has been around awhile but as you can tell, I was in no rush to report this because really, not many people care: Blake Lewis from season six is launching his first tour.
In Atlanta, he’s going to be at a venue that fits a whopping 300 people called Vinyl in Midtown on October 20 at 8 p.m. And the price of tickets? $10. Yes. $10.
If you want to buy them, here ya go.. I might go, though. I’m that dedicated to y’all. I have never interviewed the guy before one on one. He does seem like a good guy even if he is not a star by any stretch.
-And since I said Kellie Pickler was one of my top 5 “Idol” subjects, now I actually have to come up with a top 5, eh? I have never done a one on one with the big four: Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson (well, you know I almost did). But I’ve talked to most everyone else of note. Of the 82 “Idol” alums, I’ve interviewed about 36 of them one on one in a meaningful way.
In terms of ease and pure friendliness, the ones that come to mind besides Pickler include George Huff (yes, the man who hugged me as if we were old friends), Chris Sligh (the only one who says he actually reads this blog on a regular basis), Ruben Studdard (he’s like a teddy bear indeed) and Clay Aiken (since I did avoid asking anything, um, personal).
-Oh, and here’s the video of Jordin Sparks defending the promise rings the Jonas Brothers wore after Russell Brand, the VMA host, mocked them. I don’t know why there was that much backdraft to his comments, which I thought were silly, but not offensive.
-Josh Gracin is making a return visit to Cowboys in Kennesaw November 7. I’m on the Cowboys Web site and can’t figure out how to buy tickets yet because nothing is available on Ticketmaster.

That’s a nice top 5, Rodney. And Little Kellie Pickler is the only female.
If Chris is still reading this blog…HI!!!! :-)
On the VMA’s, I don’t think it was so much the comment he made about the promise rings as it was that he wouldn’t leave it alone. The youngest Jonas is 15. He should have just dropped the subject.

thanks Rodney — I actually think that Blake might be a fun AIer to see live in a small venue — he’s got personality, attitude, is fairly cute (if you like that type) and seems to enjoy what he does a lot, which translates well especially in a small venue. plus, i think he’s pretty innovative, much more so than some who made it “big” — well, into the top 12 @ year, LOL!!! I’d surely pay $10 to see him if it weren’t so far for me to go, and certainly would do so over someone like… say…. sanjaya or malubay, just as an example.
but as to your dedication to “us” and AI … you know we love you, respect you, and appreciate you!!!
you da’ MAN! (to use what is probably an incredibly outdated line, LOL!)

Nice top five Rodney. At times, I would like to be a reporter in order to meet and greet. I imagine that after a while, some of the excitment goes away.
Josh would be a good one to see again for those of you who have already seem him. I wouldn’t mind seeing him or some of the other idols, such as Ruben.

I was shocked when Jordin said that… she must be really hurt by it when someone mocks that kinda thing..

Well Pickler and Sligh were my favorite interviews to read, and when I say read I mean that Rodney had some really good pictures of Kellie the last time he interviewed her. So keep getting us the interviews. Blake would make for a good October interview when he comes to town, for 10 bucks and the cost of a few beers I’d go see him.
I’d hate to see how rabid the Jonas Brothers fans could be. Put them in a cage with Archie fans and see what we get.

WHAT?! Rodney, I am ashamed….Bo Bice didn’t make the top 5? Tell me he is at least #6…..
Long day, busy day…tomorrow will be worse!

I’ve plunked down my $10 and I can’t wait to see Blake Lewis at Vinyl in October. He seems well suited to that sort of venue. I gather that he isn’t your proverbial “cup of tea,” but since when does somebody have to be a “star” to be a nice guy? Or to deliver an enjoyable show? An interview by you would be nice. Unexpected, but nice.

Honestly, I’ll try to make the Blake concert and will interview him. He does seem like a fairly grounded guy and not at all unrealistic in terms of his own star power. I’m sure he was surprised he even made the top 2.

Hey Everyone!!!
I’m praying for all of you, those of you that asked for prayers and those of you who didn’t. I try to include everyone in my prayers and not leave anyone out. Linny, you will probably be just fine. My cousin (electrocuted) and Deirdre’s friend were not supposed to survive, yet they do!
I wonder if War Eagle has that grand son yet? As of right now, my grand son will be named Asa, I hope that they don’t change their minds because I’m already referring to him as Asa.
I’m seeing alot of ex idols on the CMA show on ABC…Carrie…Kellie…Bucky… Did I forget anyone?

Good Morning Bloggers.
Hope you all had a very pleasant evening.
Ran into some very heavy rain yesterday on my way home. Couldn’t even see the road. Was not a happy camper when I finally got home after 1hr and 47 minutes.
Now I have to do it all over again and head out the door. Y’ll drive careful this morning and be safe.

Morning!
Hope y’all enjoyed the CMA’s last night.
I’m a fan of The Sarah Conner Chronicles so I taped that and watched a Netflix film that had been sitting around my house for about 2 weeks. It was one of the WORST movies I’ve ever seen. It’s called Bug. It’s a movie version of one of those existential plays that are good on stage but do NOT translate well on screen.
The performances were outstanding. Ashley Judd, Michael Shannon and Harry Connick Jr were all wonderful but the story….yuck!
My basement is almost completely finished after the septic tank disaster. The new rug was installed yesterday and the place is starting to look good again.
My new mattress arrives today…and none too soon since I hardly slept at all last night.
OK, that’s the story of my life…how’re y’all doing? :-)

D: Glad things are getting back to normal for you. Hopefully, you will get a good night sleep tonight on your new mattress. Let us know how you and hubby like it.
I only saw the 1st hour of CMA and taped the last to watch later. What I saw, I enjoyed. Kellie did hew new song “Don’t you know you’re Beautiful.” Not to sure about Bucky. I will say that his looks has changed since he was on AI.
I won’t be on to much today. New boss is here with bank auditors, so I will be pretty busy. Just had 401(k) auditors a couple weeks ago, so here we go again. Ugh, Ugh, Ugh.
D, linny, and others, keep the conversation flowing.

Thanks gang. Hope you are all having a great morning. Any suggestions for increasing iron in my blood? they wouldn’t take my donation for the first time in years, hemoglobin count was low :-( … i know, eat spinach, broccoli, liver (BARF)… any other ideas?

Daily vitamin? You know…the “silver” kind! :-(
I love liver but it’s not as good for you as some people used to think…too much bad cholesterol.
I get plenty of broccoli by tossing it with garlic, onions and olive oil and throwing in a little sundried tomato. And spinach salads with feta, tomato and onion are good too!

Hey, everyone. I was swamped yesterday and will be in a late meeting today, so not much time to peek in or to post. Have a minute now. D, was it you who said you were looking forward to Fringe? The pilot is on tonight for an hour and a half, I believe. But, AGT is on,too, so I will have to dvr one and watch the other. I will be glad when Heroes comes back on, for sure. Hope they don’t have too many of the good shows going up against each other.

harrietth, i know it may be a while before you see this, but i too am looking forward to Heroes returning! And yep, will have to DVR Fringe and watch AGT, or vice versa, depending on hubby’s mood!
There are quite a few shows I’m looking to give a try … probably will not be all that impressed with some and love others … anyone else watched “Raising the Bar”? I was never a Hill Street Blues, LA Law, etc. fan, Bochco (sp??) isn’t my favorite by a long shot, but it’s ok.

Whew, auditors done for the day, but will be back in the morning. I have personnel files all over my office. Looks like a tornado came through. Not only are these the bank auditors, but the BIG guys came to redo the 401(k) audit. Since we have a new CFO, we have to have double audits!!!!!!!! Ain’t fun………….
I’m going to wrap my day and head home. Maybe I will miss the rain. Anyway, those of you who are driving home, be safe and drive careful.
