9/10: Bo Bice joining Robert Redford fundraiser Saturday at Tabernacle
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Robert Redford is hosting a big fundraiser at the Tabernacle this Saturday to support the Georgia Transplant Foundation and James Redford Institute for Transplant Awareness.

Bo Bice will join Redford, James Denton and Dana Delany of “Desperate Housewives,” and singer Deana Carter.
Here’s from the press release:
Since JRI first launched the event in 2003, “Share the Beat” has raised awareness and funds in cities all over the United States, including: Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Sundance, Omaha and now Atlanta.
“Our goal is to use the power of media to inspire people to think about organ donation on a deeper level,” said James Redford, Founder of JRI. “Organ donation is the most generous act someone can do for another. The way to create more organ donors is to inspire people to embrace it. When you have this message linked to music and images it opens your heart and mind to how amazing transplant can be.”
Do you want tickets? Go here for $150 VIP seats.. You can go here for more economical $75 tickets for the balcony area..
I’d go but I’ll be in New York. If any of you make it, certainly send me your take on it. Lara?

Good Morning.
What a great fundraising event. My late sister was a recipient of donated organs. The transplant gave her an additional 11 years that she would not have had without the donation. I am a firm believer in donation of organs. Give others a chance of life by donating and checking yes on your drivers license. The life you save just may be that of a loved one.
Oops, time is slipping away, so I better finish getting dressed and head to the office. Don’t know why I’m in such a hurry just to face auditors again today. Yuck, ugh, and anything else I can think to say.
Be safe and drive careful…

Morning!
So far, so good on the new mattress.
I watched Fringe last night and was impressed. JJ Abrams(the creator of the show) manages to be unique and corny all at the same time. There was a pretty nifty tribute to an early 80’s movie called Altered States and adding to it was the actress Blair Brown(who starred in Altered States)as one of the resident “bad guys”. All in all, it’s off to a good start. Each episode is a stand alone episode…unlike Lost. However the main characters are trying to solve an over-all mystery called The Pattern.

Gonna try to sneak in a word or two while the auditors are having donuts and coffee, so my post may be long.
D: Glad to know the mattress gave you a good nights rest. Don’t kmow about you, but if I have a bad night, I’m like a grizzly bear the next morning. Thats why I like my sleep by number, although I only sleep about three hours a night. Anything over that, gives me a terrible headache.
Saw AGT last night, and I will have to say that my favorite was Neal E. Boyd, the opera singer. I have never been a fan of opera, but there is something about that voice of his that just may make me a fan. His voice is so soothing, I could listen to him all day. He has great control. The dance group, Extreme Dance FX, I thought was good. Being a former clogger myself (over 10 yrs), I am partial to them. They had some very difficult steps in their routine. The Zooper Stars reminded me of the characters from Chucky Cheese. Very entertaining for children, but not for Vegas. The Army guy, Daniel Jens, was decent in his song, “Already There.” He would do well in a country music senerio. The Frank Sinatra guy, Paul, was also good. One could close their eyes and believe they were listening to ole Blue Eyes himself.
Coffee break is over, so I need to get back to the auditors. Will complete my take later on AGT.

Rodney - I seriously thought about going. It is a great cause and the chance to see Bo perform would be awesome. I just don’t have that kinda of funds to be spent right now….bummer! I hope someone is able to go and report back to us on it!!! But wow, I got a mention in the blog - how cool am I!?!? Ok, not very, but that is not the point!
D- glad the mattress is treating you well. I will have to start saving us so that I can get a new one.
Happy hump day, blogsters!!! Why are so many guitarist jokes one liners? So the rest of the band can understand them.

Lara you’re great! You deserve the call-out by Rodney! D, glad you’re loving the new sleep digs! I’d love to see Bo, and the cause is right, but the money just ain’t there for me either. Woodpappy AND War Eagle … hey guys, don’t see you very much! WE hope things are going well for you! I watched AGT (it’s on automatic record), and didn’t get home in time to start recording Fringe, so i’ve got it set up to record on Sunday when they re-air the premier episode. Of the 10 last night, Neil and Queen Emily tops, EDFX definitely, Paul “Sinatra” Salos were definitely the tops…Ii enjoyed Cadence—i like that kind of show (stomp, etc.) I’d squeeze Daniel Jens in 6th. Zuperstars have GOT to go! I can’t even remember who else was there! Oh yeah, James Gang — sorry, they’ve gotten less and less entertaining — still trying too hard and not doing enough of what they did best, and frankly their singing just ISN’T all that good imho. so who does that leave that i’ve forgotten — 2 more — oh well.
TOnight will be the hard one — i think there are more that i like still to perform tonight. I was absolutely 100% pleased with the outcome from the last top-40 contestants who made it through. I think America got it 100% right. And I’m glad they put through the Tappin’ Dads. They won’t make the top 5 but I just did NOT like ol’ Chippendale’s attitude. I think they chose the WRONG r&b singer, Kyle would have been MUCH better.
anyway, went to the doc, he didn’t seem to find anything to worry about, but did order another mammo, so let’s hope all is well!

Here is my take on the other acts from AGT.
Queen Emily was really good. Didn;t see all of her performance. My grandson called and I was talking to him. The Wright Kids did a very good version of Rockin Robin. When the smallest boy spunned the bass around, I think the whole audience applauded. The James Gang just need to go. I’m with linny on them. They were so broadway. Jessica Price was not that good. Nice voice, but the funny faces and the rolling of the eyes just don’t cut it. There was one more, I think, but I may have missed it when I was talking to my grandson, which he imformed me that he and his wife are expecting a baby in February. That will be my 5th greatgrand child. I’m not old, just my grandchildren are getting older. So I was glad to miss a performance to hear that great news.
Got to pull some more files for the auditors now.
oh BTW, Lara, you rock girl!!

That doctor stuff is a slow process, linny. Every time they tell you something might be wrong, they make you wait a ridiculous amount of time to find out if something is wrong. It’s annoying and only increases your stress levels. But so far, so good!
I haven’t been watching AGT. I find it really difficult to put up with all the crap talent. I’ll start paying attention when they have it cut down to 20.
I just bought a monumentally expensive mattress so I can’t afford Bo tickets either…..but I think that’s a fair trade. :-)

Hi y’all!
Linny, good luck with the dr. Thinking positively for you. D, that new mattress sounds heavenly.
To join in: I didn’t watch AGT. I was back to episode 2 of 90210. I used to watch the original all the time, and I’m liking this version more than I thought I would.
After that, it was Fashion Rocks. They announced Carrie (so you know I had to watch it…). I ended up “wasting” 2 hours for a 30 second cameo. They really just replayed the Just Stand Up performance, even though they kept announcing her. She must be a draw these days. ;) At least the show was fairly entertaining. More than I can say for the VMAs (Oy!)
Speaking of, Carrie she got nominated for two CMAs: Album and Female Vocalist. Not bad!
I wasn’t a huge Bo fan, but that’s cool what he’s doing. Did I miss anything? grin

it’s down to 20 now — the first 10 of the 20 performed last night, the remaining 10 will perform tonight, and the top TEN will be announced in a half-hour show on Thursday!!! And believe me, it IS down to the best, except for the zuperstars which are like stupid mascot plastic junk costumes with someone bouncing around inside… should NEVER have been put through by Sharon and Hoff and they both seemed embarrassed last night that they let them through to the top 20 last week, to the loss of a better performer!
Watch out for Neil (opera/ballad singer-tenor), Queen Emily (singer-black woman with a ton of soul and talent), Donald (singer, in an accident a dozen years ago that damaged his vocal cords, he was told he’d never talk, much less sing—and he is GOOD), Eli (singer-sort of a cross between tom waits and early elton john—really good), and the Extreme Dance FX clog/tap/dance troup, and the little girl 4 years old who can sing and remembers all the words and is just as CUTE as a button! and Paul “Sinatra” Salos, a 70-something guy who is the embodiment of the older-years Sinatra, truly, even vocally! Then there’s a group of dads (Tappin’ Dads) who started taking dance class with their daughters to spend time with them, and ended up creating a dance troup of their own, they won’t make the top 5 but they’ve got so much heart and drive it’s great to see…

linny hope your mammo goes well and there is nothing to worry about. I agree with D about the stress level the doctor’s put one through. I’m waiting to hear from my test I had last Thursday. Don’t see the doc until Friday. My attitude is that it is what it is and I will deal with whatever it is. Makes sense? Anyway. good luck linny.
Has anyone hear from flats?

I remember Donald…everybody started booing him at first for some unknown reason…the audience was booing EVERYBODY at that point. I thought he was really good so I’m glad to hear that he’s still around. I was not all that impressed with the Sinatra imitator but I’ll give him another listen. Don’t approve of a 4 year old being in a competition of any kind no matter how cute she is or how good she can sing. I don’t remember the others so I have some catching up to do.
Thanks for the recap, linny!

Linny - I am thinking of ya and hoping your mammo goes well (as well as those things can go - OUCH!).
I just never got into AGT, so I don’t know all these acts. Hope they find a good one - any Atlanta folks left in the running?
I recorded Fringe last night, but fell asleep on the couch before I had a chance to watch it. I am seriously excited about HEROES starting soon!!

My parables for the week:
“Instructions of Life”
Take into account that great love and achievements involve great risk.
When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
Follow the three “R” (a) Respect for self, (b) Respect for others, (c) Responsibility for all your actions.
Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
Don’t let a little dispute injure a great relationship.
When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
Spend some time along everyday.
Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
Remember that silence is sometimes the answer.
Live a good honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the currect situation. Don’t bring up the past.
Share your knowledge. It is a way to achieve immortality.
The best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.
Most important, live your life to the fullest for tomorrow may never come.
Okay, thats it. Now its back to work.

I attended the event and Bo did great. One of the funniest moments came when a girl in the balcony said “I love you Bo” - And he acknowledged it. Then another girl yelled “I love you MORE.” to lots of laughs. Because of the time limits and number of performers, he only sang about 4 songs. At the end he joined most of the other singers for the final encore. Dana Delany of Desperate Housewives was the MC for the evening, filling in for her costar - James Denton.
