9/12: Kristy Lee Cook’s album out on Tuesday, Sanjaya ad, Ryan Seacrest working w/ Paris Hilton
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I spent the day visiting a friend in New York City but have a couple of hours to spare so here I am at the same Starbucks I met Tamyra Gray a year ago on 42nd St. This year, I could potentially track down Ace Young (playing Kinecke down the street at “Grease’). In fact, I could probably go see the place if I were that ambitious. But no, I’m going to see a cousin for dinner instead. Family and friends come first, even ahead of “Idol” for me. I know— where are my priorities?
-Even faster than Kellie Pickler’s release a couple years ago, Kristy Lee Cook breaks all “Idol” records by releasing a full album literally days after the “Idol” tour is over. “Why Wait” is set for for a drop date of Tuesday Sept. 16. I guess the title is tongue in cheek. Or merely shorthand for: “Why Wait Until Everyone Forgets Who Kristy Lee Cook Is?”
Her single “15 Minutes of Shame” is floundering on the country charts, not even able to make the top 40. Fellow blogger MJ has listened to the album and isn’t totally hating on it. I don’t have the time (or wherewithal at the moment) to sample it just yet. I anticipate it won’t sell much at all.
If you have the patience or curiosity, check a stream of the 10 cuts here at cmt.com
-Sanjaya Malakar’s new Nationwide ad is out. There’s a Web site, too. He mocks his own existential state and his hair, of course. It’s mildly amusing. Not quite as funny as the Kevin Federline ad a couple years back when he is in a rap video, then is caught “daydreaming” at a fast-food place he’s working.
-I’m not sure what this says about Ryan Seacrest except he knows people have a strange fascination with Paris Hilton so his production company is hooking up with hers. (Yes, she has a production company!). Anyway, let E! News report it from a press release I got today:
E! NEWS’ Ryan Seacrest talks exclusively about joining forces with socialite Paris Hilton to become Hollywood’s newest producing-power couple.
The two stars and their respective production companies, Ryan Seacrest Productions and Paris Hilton Entertainment, are teaming up to develop a new scripted TV series.
“Paris knows exactly how to have fun with herself. She works hard but doesn’t take herself too seriously,” Seacrest said. The deal comes in the wake of Hilton’s hugely popular online response to Senator John McCain’s campaign ad featuring the heiress. Seacrest, Hilton and her manager, Jason Moore, will produce.
The series concept is still being worked out, but Seacrest did offer one clue, “This show will be loud.”
Feel free to insert your own stupid joke here.
-I read somewhere this week (and I wish I could recall) that Kara DioGuardi is going to sit after Randy but before Paula. I’m not sure how that will work but if she’s saltier than Paula, it might cause Paula to be more defensive because oftentimes, she’ll just parrot whatever praise Randy heaps on the contestant. Naturally, Simon goes last cos that’s where he should be.

I think that Kristi Lee Cook’s album will do alright. I think it is great marketing to get it out fast. I am willing to be that it will be a new trend with American Idol contestants.

Happy Monday Morning to all. Hope you all had a very nice week-end. Now its time to start another great week.
Rodney, thanks for the report on KLC. I love the cover on her CD. Hope its sells well.
RS and PH?????? Not to sure about that. Their production may be something I probably wouldn’t care to watch, but will one time just to see what type of program they come up with. I will try most anything once.
Gotta hit the road to work. I will catch ya’ll later this a.m. For those who are driving to the office or anywhere else, be safe and drive careful.

Happy Monday, y’all!
KLC’s CD probably won’t be as bad…and I sort of liked her on the show (Until that horrendous Eight Days a Week performance). That said, I’m not lining up for it, either. Honestly, she’s just another one in a sea of blondes that’s populating Nashville. We’ll see if she can somehow stand out.
Sanjaya…I thought he was gone. What did I do? ;)
Um, Ryan and Paris? I don’t even know what so say about that.
Oh, and I missed out on the Ruben interview. First, I’m surprised he was on Q100. I mean, I don’t think they ever really even played his music. (Other than the early single back in the day…). Does anyone care to recap?

Rueben’s interview on Q100 was mainly to promote the show he will be in playing at The Fox later this year. It is a jazz show, and the name is completely gone from my head. I believe he said that Frenchie Davis will also be in it, as well as Trenyce? Maybe? I am getting old and the memory doesn’t hold everything.
He did tell a funny story of how he tried to propose to his then girlfriend, now wife. He had a show in Vegas and wanted to take one of those gondola rides, the concierge said they didn’t take reservations, but there was never a line. They showed up and there was a line a mile long. So then he was going to propose at dinner, an hour into dinner, she excuses herself to the bathroom and doesn’t come back for awhile. She ended up sending a stranger over to Rueben to get him so they could leave - the zipper on her dress was broken. He ended up just proposing in their room.

Kristy’s album is hot. It is so great. I wasn’t sure I wanted to get it, but when I saw a few looking over the album, I thought, lets give it a go. It is very good. I like it much better than even Pickler. A new Kristy Fan. Go Kristy Lee

I liked Eight Days a week. Her BEatles rendition was as good as any, besides I never liked the beatles. I do love the new album. It is very good. Like my mama does I believe will be a hit.
