10/3: Carrie Underwood to co-host CMAs
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I am always rooting for Kellie Pickler to get hosting gigs but “Idol” colleague Carrie Underwood will be co-hosting the CMA Awards with Brad Paisley.
The show will broadcast live Nov. 12 on ABC. Underwood strikes me as a pretty plain vanilla gal who won’t exactly blow anybody away as a host. Paisley has a glint in his eye and should be a fun addition. I hope Pickler at least gets to present.
In addition to their hosting duties, Paisley and Underwood will also perform on “The CMA Awards.” Previously announced performers include Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban, with more performers to be announced soon.
-Speaking of hot country blondes, USA Today has a story about Carrie, Kellie and the others here..
Labels may be dipping too far into the talent pool looking for the next Underwood, who won Idol in 2005: Cook finished seventh last season. Several country stations, including KKGO in L.A., are taking a wait-and-see approach to Cook’s 15 Minutes of Shame, currently No. 36 on USA TODAY’s country airplay chart.
“I’m skeptical about the runner-ups until I see a proven single,” says KKGO program director Tonya Campos.
-Early signs of tension between Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell? He tells Extra that she’s a mike hog. “She never shuts up,” he said. I believe he isn’t being serious.

carrie is really cool and has a dry sense of humor i think shes funny and sweet brad makes a good match with her…i guess this person is more of a kellie fan then a carrie fan i love’em both but carrie is my girl!! can’t wait to watch her as so many others fans are too i bet these 2 are country big stars!!

Rodney its your blogs that are vanilla. No individual style—Just copy and paste from other sites and regurgitate their viewpoints. Just b/c Carrie doesn’t play the dumb blonde doesn’t mean she lacks personality. The AAG video proved that and nearly everyone who meets her can attest to her humor, humility, and generosity.
“I’m skeptical about the runner-ups until I see a proven single,” says KKGO program director Tonya Campos.
Well if program directors would stop their 80-20 male to female country airplay bias, these girls could get significant airplay. Catch 22 where they can’t get a hit to prove themselves w/o radio programmer support.

Good Morning. We finally made it to Friday.
I had heard that Carrie and Brad were to co-host the awards. They have to be better than Brooks and Dunn. Their hosting is as boring as boring can get.
From the post above that was written bu Sontar, this may be a intersting day.
I owe, I owe, its off to work I go.
Drive careful and be safe.

Wow, you dont know Carrie. She is funny as hell. The kind that is quik wit. She can say things off the cuff. She does it all the time. She fools everyone with her straightlace image. She is a good girl but she knows how to have fun and not get caught. You are talking about a girl with tattoos. She never strays from her values but vanilla she will never be. She exudes a large Hot Fudge Sundae with a Cherry on top. The best.

Wow! Sweet Carrie’s got herself a loyal following (not surprising that she does, just surprising they’re so vehemently vocal!!!) If you’ve ever read this blog, you know most of us actually LIKE her a lot; I think Rodney’s point is that she’s more a singer than a “award show host” b/c they usually try to get people who are KNOWN for being funny, for some reason. But hey, please, speak up, but just remember, someone who doesn’t agree with you is equally entitled to their own opinion and the right to express it… play nice, kids!

I just saw Carrie in concert a week back and let me say, I was dragged into not a fan of hers but came out thinking “Queen of Country” someday. If she gets the CMA crowd into the palm of her hand like she does her concert crowds, she’ll be a great host.

When I order a milk shake, I always order vanilla. Unless the machine for vanilla is broke then I’ll order chocolate. But, the whole time I’ll sit there sipping my chocolate shake cursing the restaurant managers under my breath for letting the vanilla milk shake machine break down.

Nah. I think he probably really hates it, you know. He’s probably just trying to see who’ll make something crazy out of it, unlike you an’ me, Nana… ~¿@ … you know how some people will take ANY comment and turn it into a controversy? well…. I think JT is just spoilin’ for a fight!

No I love it! Take vanilla scented candles, even they are great. Not as great as pumpkin spice, but they are right up there. I’ve never heard of chocolate candles, if they made chocolate candles I wouldn’t like them as much as I like vanilla candles. I like vanilla!

LOL, JT. Well Vanilla IS one of my two favorite scents (old-fashioned tea rose being the other) .. Speaking of “Chocolate scent” — i SWEAR i saw an ad the other day for AXE or TAG or something that’s CHOCOLATE, to drive the women crazy, i suppose…. has anyone else seen it, or did i dream it?

Nana, does this sound like JT’s style to you? doesn’t to me. i’m curious if someone is posting “as” JT today. Rodney could find out, but since it’s not offensive, just… not …normal, i guess is the best word (can we call JT “normal” under any circumstances???!!!) it’s just got my curiousity aroused… because either it’s JT playing like he’s someone playing JT, or it’s someone playing JT and thinking they’re succeeding…
now if THAT wasn’t confusing enough…

Linny, I would hope that if someone were going to imitate me that they would post something far more provocative and or insightful. Maybe they could make a post that actually provides some benefit to mankind. That would be a pleasant change.
I wonder if there are any recipes for turtle that includes vanilla extract. Because when it comes to extract, yeah vanilla is the best extract.

JTesla, I think that there is an unwritten law that if an animal or turtle has been given a name, that they are not to be eaten!

But, harm is right on the chocolate scented candles. They smell really nice. Makes one crave a chocolate sundae.

Well, hey y’all….JT, you’re too funny!
HA, um, yeah. Them Carrie fans came out in full swing. When I saw her back in April, I have to agree with the comment. To be fair, from what I’ve seen lately, she’s gotten better. The word is she’s pretty shy. Anyway. It’s a good thing they paired her with Brad. Have y’all seen the outtakes of when they did intros for the CMAs last year? It’s worth a look. (I would post a link, but that site’s been blocked at work. tear)
Hope everyone has a happy Friday…and, since no Dawg Balls this weekend, Go Wildcats! ;)

Harmony you’re missing out on the best ice cream! Tillamook Ice Cream’s Udderly Chocolate (aka Brown Cow) is incredible: http://www.tillamookcheese.com/OurProducts/IceCream/Udderly_Chocolate.aspx
Please note that it has vanilla extract! I’ll be going there this weekend to get some, along with some cheese curds.

I’m shocked. You can have an opinion about American Idol, you can have an opinion about other reality talent shows, or you can have a political opinion, but to not like ice cream? That’s just crazy talk. ;)

Who doesn’t like ice cream? Me, ice cream hurts my teeth, gives me brain freeze, I’m lactose intolerant and they put stuff in there to make it taste sweet. I don’t have a sweet tooth, so I don’t like anything sweet.

New blog entry but I did want to thank the Carrie fans for speaking up. I’ll be definitely watching the CMAs to see how she does. I like Carrie. Love her singing. She just isn’t the type of person, as Linny noted, who would be an obvious pick to be a show host per se to me at least.
