10/7: Paris Bennett has her baby
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Season five finalist and former Fayetteville resident Paris Bennett had her baby Egypt at 4:36 p.m. Monday. The baby weighed 5 pounds 15 ounces, according to a press release. Paris and Egypt are both doing fine.
Paris, 20, said in the release: “I’m so excited to finally see my little angel and man does she have lungs on her I guess she’s gearing up to be the next American Idol.”
Her Christmas album “A Royal Christmas” is due out October 14.
When she came in June for a divas concert at Philips Arena, the baby “bump’ was so noticeable, she had no choice but to announce what was going on (this is taken by Robb Cohen):

I’ll add more “Idol’ news on Tuesday.

Congrats on the birth of Egypt to Paris and the baby’s father, and to the grandparents and great grandparents. I am sure there will be tons of love for that young’un!
Rodney, in case i haven’t told you lately, thank you for all you do to bring us the tidbits, from the magnificent to the sublime to the ridiculous, LOL. And thank you for giving us a home to vent, blog, opinionize, pontificate, proselytize, lecture, argue, make up, and just generally be a community. You’re the best!

Congrats to Paris on the birth of Egypt. May her baby bring her as much love, joy and happiness as my own did to me.
Any comments from last night’s DWTS? Cloris just needs to go. Her novelity act has worn itself out. She has gotten on my last nerve. I still like her, but not to dance.
Almost time to head out and face another day at the office. Have a safe day and be careful.

Gee, how nice, glad mother and baby are doing fine. I wonder why the failed to mention anything about the father. Wouldn’t that be the husband of Paris? Is she married? In a committed relationship with the father? Or just a case of “my baby’s daddy”

Morning!
Dadder…when we first discussed Paris’ pregnancy back in June, Paris announced that she was in a committed relationship. Whether that still exists or not remains to be seen.
Congrats to Paris on the birth of her daughter.

zest - you have some nerve another child born out of wedlock the black community blah blah blah - last time i checked say about month ago this plagues EVERY RACE - women are choosing to have their children out of wed lock all the time. Let’s see….Bristol isn’t black is she? Doesn’t matter if she is being FORCED to marry her boyfriend the fact is the baby was conceived out of wedlock - save your comments - they don’t wash never have and never will

I’m so tired of people making stupid racist remarks. This is 2008 - when does is end? Yes, Paris is black but are you suggesting that white girls do not get pregnant out of wedlock?! I mean, is Sarah Palin’s daughter pregnant or not? Regardless of our color, gender or gay/straight we will all make good decisions and bad, we will all make mistakes, we will all put our foot in our mouth, we will all have someone to be proud over and someone who we scratch our heads at.
Grow up, try very hard to be a good person and join the future.

Not only is Sarah Palin’s teen daughter pregnant, but I believe Sarah herself got pregnant before marriage. After seeing her Biography, she rushed to the courthouse and had a shotgun wedding and 8 months later she had a baby.. Hummmm, sounds suspicious to me.

I don’t think the issue has anything to do with race or marital status. Today it seems to be trendy to have a baby without being married. It would take to hands and at least one foot to count up the number of celebrities who have babies without the benefit of marriage…or who are pregnant when they get married. I think that has become a non-issue.
Teens having babies is a whole other thing. Paris is 20 so she doesn’t even qualify in that category.
AND…..Bristol and her boy friend were planning to get married before she got pregnant….the rumor that they are being FORCED to marry each other is a media-creation.
Sarah Palin was pregnant before she got married??? Wow!!!! I guess she and 1000s’ of other women in this country ought to shunned!

Thanks Deirdre, I was going to point out that Bristol and her beau had already told the folks they would be getting married — waaaay before they did the deed and paid the price (pregnancy). I cringe every time i hear someone say that M/M Palin are forcing Bristol to get married. All it took was one look at them together on the podium that night, there’s NOTHING forced about their relationship. And yeah, lots of women had “8-month” babies over the years. I agree that this IS not and SHOULD not be about race, sexual preference, gender, or any of the usual subjects — with the ‘front page’ exposure we WILL get some crazies but please remember that NONE of the regulars on this blog have dissed Paris for having a baby. I get so tired or being called a hater because some bored soul out there decides to come to this blog and post hateful comments.
This is a blog. There are as many differing opinions as there are people posting on this blog. But we’ve always TRIED to be respectful of each other AND the topics; troublemakers who come with no purpose other than to stir the pot are usually jumped on pretty quickly and rarely come back [with some exceptions who, for whatever reason, have decided to stay around].
I’ll repeat my first post:
“Congrats on the birth of Egypt to Paris and the baby’s father, and to the grandparents and great grandparents. I am sure there will be tons of love for that young’un!”

Sorry for the multiple post. My point is, all 17 yr olds “think” the person they are with will be their spouse. I don’t know any girl, 17 who is just dating for the heck of it.

“Planning to get married” means you and your significant other have discussed and agreed that..someday…you will be married. You may not even be officially engaged yet. “Planning a wedding” means you and your significant other and all the members of your family and his family are arguing about the arrangements. As far as I know, those are two different things…..

Very sexist of you, Steve.
When my son was 17…he and his girl friend ‘planned to get married’. They had lots of dreams about their future together. Fortunately she didn’t get pregnant(yes it was possible and no, I didn’t approve)But I would never deny their commitment to each other. They were devoted. Yes, way too young and yes, they moved on, BUT IF my son was going to be a dad at 18(I shudder to think) I KNOW he would have happily married that girl because he loved her very much.
That’s why I object to the media assumption that marriage is being FORCED on these kids.
By JTesla

Deirdre, you’ve missed the point. Two children born to unwed mothers - and displaying that it it isn’t an issue of race. Planning doesn’t change the fact that she is unwed.
To me it doesn’t matter, we’d or unwed, enjoy you’re child.

I have 16 year old twin daughters, and I tell them all the time, a boy will tell you what you want to hear to close the deal.. And to respond to another person saying they looked so in love on stage together, that is not the image I saw. He looked very uncomfortable even holding her hand. I am a Republican turned by McCains pick for VP, because of all the BS she has brought to the ticket.

I agree with you there, JT. It’s hard to believe that a while back, the child of unwed parents was treated like a pariah.
And times have changed again. Now births are welcome whether the parents are married or not.
I wish Paris all the best.

Good point JT, tho’ i don’t think D missed the point, I think you two just look at the same point from different angles grin. Love the child. WHOEVER is in the child’s life, LOVE THAT CHILD. Hopefully the child will have all the best things in life, but we all know she will have not-so-best things as well. That’s why it’s called “life”.
What that child does NOT need is branding because her parents didn’t share vows before they conceived her!!! and that includes branding of the parents. Would a nice man-woman-married-before-pregnant scenario be nice? sure. But it’s not terrifically realistic in today’s world, so focus on taking care of her, loving her, and raising her to make, hopefully, even better choices with HER life down the road!

LOL, Steve, yes, the young man looked uncomfortable — wouldn’t YOU, being on stage before literally MILLIONS of people?? But in the moments when the camera wasn’t “on” them and you could just see them behind the others, there were little looks and reassurances that seemed to pass between them, making me feel better about what i was hearing and seeing in that regard.
I dwon’t get into the political aspects you tried to introduce; this is NOT the forum for politics or religion, thank you very much, LOL!!! [said with a smile, no offense intended, but politics and religion, along with SEC football rivalries, tend to cause too much antagonism, and less respect, in the discussion, so let’s not go there, if you please?]

As far as how they’ll deal with it. I’m thinking they’re just not eliminating anyone today. We shall see.
Read a rumor that Kelly’s CD is now being pushed back to Feb 10th with a single dropping in Nov. I hope not (obvs, right?) but with all the competition coming up and her current tour, it makes sense.

Cynical, Steve…very cynical.
It’s easy to see all the negatives in this situation. But since none of us knew these 2 kids before…there’s no way of knowing what’s the truth. Thanks JT and thanks, too, flats. JT, there are lots of touristy things in Chicago. Great little clubs where you can listen to jazz, rock, or any other kind of music. The sightseeing is fantastic. They have a system of double-decker bus trips that take you all over Chicago and a very well-informed guide to tell you all about it without being intrusive. Lots of history and lots of stories about Chicago’s past—both good and bad. I saw Soldier Field up close, along with the Sears Tower and lots of lakefront and ritzy residential condos right downtown. Lots of folks live in downtown there. I saw where Oprah lives—two top stories of the Ritz Carlton. Whew! Also, went to Harry Carey’s bar and restaurant where all of the Cubs fans were gathering. They were still happy at that point. LOL! They also have a shopping district called the “maginficent mile,” where they say there are no price tags on things in some of the stores. Did not mean to monopolize the discussion, but you asked, JT!

Children out of wedlock, celebrities, black and white do it all the time. That doesn’t make it right, but life happens. These parents need to work on raising these children together whether or not they are in a “relationship”. We need to focus on saving “our” children from the streets and prisons. Everyone needs to focus on helping the family with the kids. It makes a big difference & gives the child a better chance in life if they see they are loved and care for by the “family” too. It takes a village to raise a child people and “we” all need to care about the children regardless of who the parents are. When will racism end?

The comments should not be about race but about morals. I’ve heard Paris sing, talk about and thank God, but her walk is worldly. Which is evident her by having a baby out of wedlock. God is a holy God and is not apart of anything unholy. I pray Paris will truly seek Christ and raise her daughter to honor God. God is so merciful!

Overall, it is sad to know that another young lady is having a child out of wedlock in 2008. Protection is free why do we see the younger generation not using it. Unfortunately, for the child another young woman not using her head. There are many choices we could make in life, school, getting job and providing something more knowlegable for your child instead of laying up without protection. Grow up and stop being a static!

I am ashamed of this. Regardless of who the person is, having a baby out of wedlock is just insane these days. I don’t care about the color. This is a repeat cycle, i.e. Paris’ mother, now Paris, then baby Egypt will more than likely have a baby out of wedlock. What a sin and shame.

Just because Sarah Palins’ daughter plans to get married, doesn’t change the fact that she is pregnant before marriage. The world ridicules black women for having children out of wedlock, and glamorizes it when white women do it by giving them magazine covers Jamie lynn Spears, Angelina Jolie to name a couple. As the saying goes.. SAME CRAP DIFFERENT TOILET!

Seems to me the issue is something other than race(ignoring the racist statements already made here)
Halle Berry gets a free pass to have a baby out of wedlock. Paris Bennett does not.
Angelina Jolie gets that same free pass. Jamie Lynn Spears does not.
Then there’s Britney Spears who was married when she had her kids but is still considered to be lowlife trash.
I don’t think EITHER side has a valid argument yet.

What an education to help provide for this child. Why be another single parent by choice? Futhermore, education is a great start to a new life. Grow up and stop being a static! Not to mention those ignorant names. Lord please help this generation! Eypt not cute at all love to see that one on a resume.

I haven’t had time to post since this morning at 5:01am. Been @ work since 6:10 this morning and am just now taking a break and having myself a carmel apple (with nuts) for lunch.
Maybe it’s a good thing I haven’t had any time from the looks of the posts. It doesn’t take much to open pandora’s box and all heck breaks loose. I will let my thoughts on this subject remain with me.
Welcome back harrietth. Glad you had a nice trip to the windy city. I spent 4 months up there in 1978 from Sept to Dec. I swore, never again. Almost froze my tush off. Saw snow like I had never seen in my life. Being born and raised right here in Atlanta, we don’t see snow like that. Couldn’t wait to get back down home. My first shopping stop was Bloomingdale’s. Had a ball there. Anyway, glad you are home safe.
I’ve finished my apple, so I will get back to work. Packing an office to move is no easy task and not the least bit fun.
Back later………

Why are we so busy hating! Before you continue to voice your hate and judge “the black community”, why don’t you do the math on your own birth! Was your mother a “virgin” on her wedding night or were you a ignorant bun in the oven?

Everyone, Just stop judging. No one has a heaven or hell to put no one in, just get over it ok. If Paris and Bristol choose to have sex and get pregnant, they have to bear the consequences and their families have to deal with them. Let me ask you, what have you done wrong or how do you treat others, especially those in your own family? alright, then shut the HELL UP THEN! Tyra Ellis, yes, That is what I said!

DWTS- I have to say that Maurice also did a very good job dancing last night. I think Rocco or Toni will be in the bottom with Cloris. My favorite is still Warren Sapp!

It said the bs that I read in these blogs quite often. There are many on here who obviously post derrogatory comments simple to draw a reaction. Everything is turned to race because it’s a trigger that fires, hits hard and is sure to create the chaos they seek. Karma is something else, I’ve always believed. Some of these who are calling the kettle black…literally are sure to have adversity or the unexpected happen in their lives. Lets just see how they are able to cope…Jake and crew!

Way to go JT!!! I would have thought that by this time all the nasty remarks about Paris would be over, but Ed just step over the line on his comments.
For the life of me, I just can’t understand why people feel the need to resort to name calling when they have NO idea of the circumstances and don’t even know the people involved. IMHO, the name callers must be people who aren’t happy within their selves and this is the way they react to people who are happy. I would say that I pity those who aren’t happy, but a person makes their own happiness, so you really can’t pity or feel sorry for them. Life is way to short not to be happy.

Good Morning Bloggers. Hope you all had a good night.
DWTS was pretty good last night. Loved Kool and the Gang, the Rockettes. JHud, not one bit. The only part about her performance that I liked was watching Juilanne and Derek dance. She didn’t look like she has lost much, if any, weight.
Almost time to hit the road. Will catch up sometime later today. Y’ll be safe and drive careful this rainy Wednesday.
