And honors go to … Forest Whitaker, Jamia Nash

Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker and Oscar show singer Jamia Simone Nash of Buford will be honored in Atlanta on April 4 at the SCLC/W.O.M.E.N. Drum Major for Justice Awards.

Whitaker will receive the Arts and Humanitarian Award and 11-year-old Nash, who sang the Oscar-nominated “Raise It Up” from “August Rush” on last month’s Oscar show, will receive the Youth Award.

They and others will be honored at a dinner commemorating the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The event will take place at downtown’s Sheraton Atlanta Hotel. Tickets and details: www.sclcwomeninc.org.
