Is T.I. headed back to the big screen?

Atlanta rapper T.I. is in final negotiations to possibly co-star in Screen Gems’ upcoming heist drama “Bone Deep,” according to the film’s Atlanta-based producer.

Will Packer, who soon will begin filming “Obsessed” in Los Angeles with Beyonce Knowles, says he is in “final stages” of a deal to have T.I. join his “Bone Deep” cast. The film, which will star Matt Dillon and Idris Elba, involves a planned robbery that Packer has described as a kind of cross between “Heat” and “Ocean’s Eleven.”

“Bone Deep,” tentatively set for 2009 release, could be filmed this fall. Atlanta is under consideration as a location, Packer says.

T.I., the multimillion-selling Grammy winner born Clifford Harris Jr., has recently been fulfilling obligations of at least 1,000 hours of community service following his guilty plea to three federal firearm violations charges. (Watch the video here.)

T.I.’s last film was the Oscar-nominated “American Gangster” with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.

What a THUG this guy is! He, like most black rappers, gets into trouble with the law and then gets to be in a movie? What a joke! I am sure he will be back in jail soon though for another weapon or drug charge. Either that or he will end up like some of the other black rappers who are murdered. Funny how you never see things like that with white singers.

First of all rapping and singing are different, and secondly how come everything is a Black or White thing? People need to grow up. There are good and bad in every race.

Give me a break!!! What is really going on in the entertainment world????? I just don’t know what to say … TI in another movie? It took everything I had to sit through ATL, and the 15 seconds you saw him on screen in AMERICAN GANGSTER does not mean he is ready for yet another role in a major crime film.

HE IS A LIAR and HE HAS DISAPPOINTED so many fans … Is Hollywood even thinking about that? Who is going to rush out and see this film … besides members of his immediate family.

But, knowing TI, he will probably buy every ticket for every show at most of the theaters around the ATL so the numbers will look good.

I AM OVER TI … The music industry needs to be over him as well!

This is no different than when a woman appears in a sex tape, and all of a sudden she is offered millions.

Good can come from bad situations. He still has to do his time in the joint, however his star status prevented him from recieving more time. He is lucky and I hope he doesn’t slip again.

CHRIS white singers/actors/actresses do just about the same stupid things they get themselves into just like any other race your just HATING because he’s now appearing in a movie, T.I. had his day in court pled guilty of his crime and now has to do the time if these movie producers want him in their movie why do you have to SPIT all over it I’ll tell you why you just hate to this man get ahead despite what he pled guilty to. STOP HATING!! and bring race into it.

To me it is no different then white actor Tim Allen getting arrested for selling drugs then having a hit sitcom. Then Rober Downey Jr. a convicted drug addict how many movies has he done since being arrested multiple times. What is good for the goose is good for the gander, Chris get over it white privledge is dying my friend.

Chris, most black rappers do not always get in trouble, and as far as any getting murdered well its been a long time since that happened. T.I may have had his troubles, but he has made for that by doing better in the community and by his family. Let that man make his money and stop HATING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone say Lindsay Lohan, Brittany Spears, Winona Rider, Robert Downey Jr., Hugh Grant, Eminem, and Paris Hilton (to name a few)? Kurt Cobain and Jerry Garcia had a criminal record. Even a couple of the Beatles had arrest records. What say you?

Let’s see. Your puny little mind is so predictable. Now, you’re going to claim that they were arrested for minor things and T.I. was arrested for gun possession by a felon. Woooooooooooo.

Well to some, the fact that a felon can’t possess a firearm (can we say 2nd Amendment) is bogus. Either we need to rehabilitate criminals and restore their rights when they pay their debt to society or stop being intellectually dishonest with society and say jail is useless and absent any redeeming qualities.

To say that a felon shouldn’t be able to possess a weapon is a rude and crude generalization. If your kid decides to have a party and has enough pot to share with his friends, he could become a felon. Should his rights be forever taken away? If he just turned 19 and sleeps with a girl that is one day away from her 16th birthday, he’s a felon (even though she said she was 17). Should he lose his constitutional rights? Its non-sense!

I say that T.I. should pay his debt to society and return to a normal life. The same life that any other American citizen has the right to enjoy. Go ahead and make that money. If the movie looks good and has good reviews, I’ll check it out.

How could he care about his fans??? “I can’t wait until I am proven innocent” … I believe he said that!!!!

When it’s all said and done, He who has the money walks, and he who is “broke” does the time. How else can you explain a “CONVICTED FELON”, getting off so easy. By Yolanda

This issue here is that we as MAN want to judge another when we can’t look in the mirror at own self. For so long Black people have been held down by stereo types just like the comments Chris made. For centuries white people have gotten away with crimes that are hidden and never spoken about. Whether it be Actors, Singers, or POLITIANS. It’s unfortunate that T.I. was blessed and hadn’t noticed that he didn’t have to live in his past any more because God has brought him into his future. Some times we need to be shaken a little to see the growth. All of the comments about black and white should be kept out of it because it has more to do with knowledge. When you know better you do better. When you can look in the mirror at yourself and correct your life that’s when you can come back and make comments about T.I.’s because I’m sure your world isn’t perfect Mr. Chris. Throw the stone only when you can hit yourself back with it…. Peace out!

Looks like “ROC” and “KJAM” are the ones with racial problems. What is so funny is that when white celebs get into trouble, it is because they were drunk, out partying, etc. Yet when blacks do, it is for gangs, shootings, murder, etc. Do you morons not see the difference? 90% of you blacks also supported Vick, the thug who killed many dogs. What is wrong with you? Furthermore, look at athletes. How often do you see a white athlete in trouble compared to a black one? Especially in the NFL! When a white person speaks the TRUTH, it is called racist. So funny. So if I say almost all murders on the news each night in Atlanta are commited by black thugs is that a racist comment? N O P E because it is the truth.

I am not judging TI … because there is not enough BLOG space to successfully accomplish that task.

But all I do know is … TI gave up the 411 on somebody or something.

There is no way a convicted felon with weapons of mass destruction found in his private residence with some Mission Impossible “thumb print” weapons storage closet in his bedroom will get one (1) year and a day!!!

It just don’t happen that way …

So you might want to investigate that before you tell me and others that TI is a stand up kinda guy!!!!

We are talking about the same individual that created an alter ego so he could be more THUGGISH!!!! He was raised in Bankhead … how much more thuggish can you be?

The truth is the light … and everything comes to the light sooner or later.

Enough is enough. The comment BY Chris is totally unacceptable. Just becuase the man was arrested on gun charges doesn’t mean that he will do it again. That comment is racially motivated and I think you are a racist. It happends in Hollywood everyday with the likes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and of course Mel Gibson and I think that is something you all forget about. Ok the man bought guns/ they drive drunk (THEY BOTH KILL)! SHOULD THEY BE REWARDED? I think that truth is to you and whoever agrees with By Chris’s statement is that T.I. aka Clifford Harris is a young black man with more money than you and I think You can’t stand it. Let him serve his debt to society and then take a look at the man he becomes before you throw him under ther bus.

I agree Chris, the entertainment business and sport’s business needs to stop rewarding bad behavior. But do not make this a black and white issue. Robert Downey, Jr. is white and he has been in an out of jail and rehab for drugs and he always lands on his feet somehow in movies and television. In fact he has the biggest movie of the summer coming out this year. So the industry is the problem not the color of one’s skin.

Comments like Chris’s and other nay-sayers just proves my point that I make to alot of black youth. They don’t want to see us make any money. Or catch a break. I didn’t see any of you complaining about Lindsey Lohan’s short sentence or even Nicole Ritchie’s or for that fact Paris Hilton. So please, don’t look down your pointed little noses and judge that man because he has fantastic lawyers. Anytime an African-American is put into position to make a little more money than them, it upsets them. And by them I mean racist bigots like Chris and the other people that choose to talk about T.I. and all other non-whites because they may catch a break here and there. Hell, caucasians have been catching breaks since this country was founded.

I have no problem with Caucasians. I actually love them. It’s just the idiots like Chris that I’m having to teach and warn our black youth about today.

I am glad for TI. Tupac got in trouble and still was an icon for young youth. To be young is to make mistakes. We give these guys millions and expect them to forget where they came from. Vick and TI are no different. They got the money but still kept the friends. In an industry where everyone is out to get you, I can’t be surprised they did not leave their “homies” alone along with the Thug Life.

I like TI. I also think he can do wonders for the world. I have great hopes and aspirations for him. Like everyone else I was MAD when he got arrested. But as other bloggers have said, many a man who was young and got in trouble ended up changing the mental concious of a generation.

GO ahead TI! Can’t wait to see the movie.

You guys speak the truth: white performers have all kinds of problems. However, they usually don’t go around shooting at each other —- killing each other because one comes from the east and the other from the west.

Whatever you may think: T.I. is afraid somebody is after him or his about to start a freakin’ was with all the weapons he’s accumulated —- a veritable a**.

And, he’s a convicted felon.

Anyway, go at it guys and keep it real —- whatever the heck that means.

Adios!

Chris,

I for one would like to thank you. Here’s why: I’m an Atlanta native, 28 year old black man and I just want you to know that you motivate me. You’re the reason that I’ve worked so hard to become successful on Wall Street. (as an aside I assure you that I paid more in taxes to the Feds than you made in salary this year). I love the way presumptious, ignorant white people look at me in the airport when I’m in the first class check-in line while they wait in an endless line for coach.

Since you don’t know, YOU are the reason why so many black people support Vick. It’s because you make these things matters of race. You would never say, “how come white male politicians keep getting caught up in sexual scandals?. They all have Ivy league degrees and should know better. Maybe all white men just can’t control themselves”…you see, your generalizations and conclusions are really a product of your ignorance, nothing else. I’m very critical of Vick but I’ll still support him because of bigots who say, “what’s wrong will all black people?” I am glad that TI has enough money to buy his freedom the way any other wealthy person can.

And there is actually a funny irony about you’re observation that TI will actually be rewarded for his indiscretions (and I agree with you). White people listen to / buy more hip hop and go see more movies than anyone other race. If TI remains popular enough to make it on the big screen in Hollywood, than it’s simply because white people still support him…no other reason. If they stopped then he couldn’t sell records or make a hit movie.

So here’s to TI on the big screen. Here’s to Vick in an NFL jersey for the 2010 season. Here’s to your dying breed of white bigotry that makes racial generalizations out issues that have been caused by 400 year old socioeconomic inequalities! I’m happy to say that you are a dying breed Chris. So most of all, here’s to you because you motivate us all to become empowered enough so that you’re bigotry has to stay hidden cowardly on blogs instead of out in the open(but be careful - you don’t want your black boss to see you typing such thoughtless racism).

It’s a d—-n shame that ANYONE can get special privilages from the crimes that are committed, based on the fact they have money and can pay their way out. Regardless of their race.

If T.I. was a regular guy, he could have at least been facing 10 years. But no, all he had to do was to pay a little money to the corrupt court system, say I”m sorry, and all is forgiven. What a joke!

Don’t forget what happen to Dallas Austin. Over in another country, with cocaine. Everyone in Atlanta, running around in Atlanta trying to save his a-s. And he comes back to Atlanta scott free!

It’s not about what you know, but who you know and how much you can pay out.

It’s killin’ me to read that some people think that if someone commits a crime then their life should basically end. Why shouldn’t T.I be allowed to act ? There’s a long list of celebrities that have continued acting despite felonies. So what if he’s not an Oscar worthy actor, the people making movies want to make money and many times big name celebrities are added to a cast to help in that manner. Also for those that saw “ATL”, T.I is not that bad of an actor. I’ve seen much worse. Besides he’s not straying too far out of his element in these movies anyway. Quit all the hating people, especially all the bigots. Get a life !!

Interesting enough…Chris and Superstar conveniently forget about some of the negative images “white folks” put out. I guess if I had to choose from 2 evils I would rather have drug/gun charges verses kidnapping, molestation & raping our children, oh don’t forget it’s the man of the cloth that’s doing most of it. Shall I go on? So, Chris let’s talk about those generalizations since you’re so fed up.

This is a simple case of a celebrity being able to buy his freedom and if you choose to be upset about anything it should be that. Keep in mine “white” celebs do that exact same thing. Of course you don’t want to start naming names.

First of all, all of this judegement that is being placed on someone needs to stop. All of the racist remarks are ignorant. Ms. King made a statement as to what T.I. did to get the lesser sentence that he got, but if you are not God Almighty you can’t say what a man did, if you are not in their brain, mind, soul, or spirit, or even in the same courtroom (and even with being in the same courtroom you probably wouldn’t know) then you have no right to say anything. I mean, true enough we are all entitled to ur opinion… but when you speak it make sure it is close to fact. As far as what has been done by black rappers… true in the past we have had some problems, and altercations.. but in the present so have alot of entertainers… be it black, white, hispanic, korean, chinese, etc…. Remember “Judge not less ye be judged”, and as far as this movie for T.I. I am glad for one to see him continuing on with his career… the man has a family that he is trying to support, and while you just look at the negative that has happened in my culture with the rappers… also look at the good because we do have… Jeezy’s, T.I.’s, Chingy’s, Ludacris’s, etc…. shall I keep going that have and still is giving back to the community… so don’t just concentrate on the negative because you will miss all the good that “WE” as blacks have done…..

The people who are comparing TI to other white entertainers like Spears and Lohan, the guy that said it’s like a girl selling a sex tape, or just the TI lovers are all idiots. HE BOUGHT AUTOMATIC WEAPONS!!! Wake up. If my white @ss got caught doing that I would be in jail for 5 years. Since he’s got money and he’s from Atlanta where the goverment is crooked and there is more reverse racism going on he gets a slap on the wrist.

His crime cannot and should not define his career. TI still is a talented Hip Hop artist and I love his music. What he did was wrong and he owned up to it and he has to pay the price the judge sentenced him to. I can’t speak on his acting because I didn’t care much for ATL and didn’t want to see AG…so if the movie catches my attention I will go see it, I don’t care who is in it. The thing is, stop making it about blacks and whites because that’s nto the issue. The word “thug” gets thrown around and I bet you can’t tell me what it is without looking it up or making up some bull. Vick was talented and I liked him for his talent. What he did, does not define his abilities. WTF…come on folks…tear down these racial walls…

The reason that TI, and other marginally talented rappers, not musicians, get roles is because of the idiotic nature of Americans. With the influx of Black Cinema more and more bad actors are going to be making bad films. The public will line up to see them because the media has warped the black communities minds into thinking that they are supporting some great cause. Seriously, If rappers are musicians then what instrument do they play and what key are they “singing” in? When did mumbling over the same four bar melody become music.
Black entertainers have found a niche, making black movies for black people. Think about the discrimination…how many white people are in Tyler Perry’s films? What if I, a white man, decided to start making “whites only” films with an all white cast, and production company. Selling the film to only white parts of town.
It is just funny to me how the black community complains about not being accepted by society, when THEY want to segregate themselves from the world. The black entertainment industry today is a racist joke. BLACK entertainment for BLACK people. They don’t want the publics respect, the want the white man’s money. Nouve Riche

I have read through this whole blog and I’ve seen pastures with less bs in them. T.I. doesn’t deserve to be judged by anyone EXCEPT the judicial system and that is exactly what has happened. I am not saying that what he did wasn’t wrong- because it was. He knows he was wrong and he has had his day in court. Regardless to what he received as punishment- he has had his day in court. He was able to pay the outrageous fees that his lawyers charge and they did their jobs- he plead down and received less time- so what- it happens everyday.

Ms.King said, and I quote “he grew up on Bankhead- how much more thuggish can he be?”. Well I personally take offense to that. I was raised in Marietta, but a large portion of my family ( my daddy, and my best friend ‘s who are twins and happen to be my cousins) DID grow up on Bankhead and let me just tell you that everyone from that side of town is not thuggish nor do they claim to be. My daddy is an immensely talented man that “grew up on Bankhead”, has never been to jail, bought, sold, or done drugs and just got his first ticket last year. My best friend’s have never been to jail, both have families, education, jobs, homes, etc. And there are plenty of others from Bankhead that are very successful. Stop with the assuming- you have probably never even been on Bankhead.

And to the doctor- Tyler Perry’s next film will have white people playing major parts- so get it right before you start making comments. Of course he marketed to his people first- whites didn’t readily accept his “madea” concept and would not have flocked to support his plays or movies- as brilliant ( especially “Why did I get Married” ) as they were. But he is ready for a crossover audience and is taking steps to do that. I can’t tell you how many movies have starred whites only and it really doesn’t even matter- just know your facts before you speak.

I’m not even going to comment on the other ignorance that I have read today. I will just leave you with a concept that my granny hipped me too years ago- we shouldn’t really be concerned with other people in any capacity because what they eat don’t make you S@*t. Now that’s real.
