Spike Lee to make Michael Jordan documentary

Spike Lee just recently filmed a documentary on Kobe Bryant (“A Day In the Life of Kobe Bryant” for ESPN, and now he’s turning his camera lens toward Michael Jordan.

At the Cannes Film Festival, Variety reports that Lee, who was born in Atlanta and attended college here, is ready to make a feature-length documentary on the pro basketball great and wants to bring the film and its star to France for next year’s fest.

The documentary is expected to include previously unseen footage of Jordan during his last two pro seasons in 2001-02 and 2002-03, all shot by NBA cameras.

Lee, a two-time Oscar nominee, is at Cannes promoting his new World War II drama “Miracle at St. Anna,” about black soldiers in Italy challenged not only by the Fascists they are fighting but racist commanders.

Are you interested in seeing a documentary on Michael Jordan from Spike Lee?

I’d love to see a documentary on Michael Jordan. He’s the greatest basketball player to ever lace up a pair of basketball shoes.

His triumph over adversity from his high school years thru the death of his dad would make excellent viewing!

He didn’t just attend college here. He is a Morehouse graduate.

Perhaps it should be noted that this is the first film of its kind on Jordan. NOT, “are you interested in seeing a a doc on MJ from Lee”. If it was produced by George Lucas, would you have asked the same question? Probably not!

And yes, he is MOREHOUSE GRAD! Guess you didn’t know that.

Spike Lee has been irrelevant since the 80’s…Micheal Jordan is of no redemptive value to his community, this would be another rags to parasitic riches story, maybe he can do something about down low brothas and how that’s impacting our community? Just maybe he could do something…relevant

Absolutely!! I would love to see a ducumentary film on MJ and how the NBA was back then. I know it wasn’t very long ago but so much has changed since then.

However, MJ may not be interested because almost everyone around him has said that he is a jerk and not the gentleman that is his image in the commercials. I dont think he would want to tarnish his image. But then again if anyone has a Huge ego, its MJ!

I could care less about MJ, but I love everything by Spike Lee!! Now what I am tripping on is why do white people consider Spike a racist? Has he discriminated against anyone? Or is it because he makes films based on the Black Experience? Oh but wait a minute white directors make white movies. Are they racist? You people kill me. The truth hurts doesn’t it?

I wonder how Spike feels about Morehouse having a white valedictorian-Do you think he would make a film on that?
