Today’s query: Liv Tyler or Jennifer Connelly?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
One of the first questions I remember from the schoolyard was simply this: Betty or Veronica?
Then came: Betty or Wilma?
Now with Ang Lee’s “Hulk” and the new “The Incredible Hulk,” we can finally ask, “Betty or Betty?”
In other words “Incredible Hulk’s” Liv Tyler or “Hulk’s” Jennifer Connelly?
I think the choice is easy. Connelly. I like smoky and dangerous over gooey and doe-eyed.
Connelly’s got the better film track record, too. I especially like her in “Dark City,” “Waking the Dead” and “Requiem for a Dream.”
I’d be more appalled that Hollywood is remaking “The Day the Earth Stood Still” (it arrives in December), except that Connelly is in it. She takes over the Patricia Neal role.
Who’s your choice: Liv Tyler or Jennifer Connelly?

Liv Tyler rocks. This is such a disgusting and horrible description: “gooey and doe-eyed” But of course, a man has to say that, you pig.

Depends on what’s important to you. Since we seem to be judging this not based on their respective Hulk performances: Connelly’s a more mature actress. Connelly was once a fantastically beautiful young woman, but now she’s just attractive whereas Liv Tyler, despite being the offspring of Steven Tyler, is one of the world’s most beautiful women. And she appears available. If we ARE judging strictly on “Hulk” performances: I believe Connelly as a scientist before Tyler, but Connelly loses by association. Being the best thing in a stinky movie doesn’t absolve you of a little stink.

Who cares if Connelly is pretty?Liv Tyler is an amazing actress, and I thought that was all that would matter from a popular movie critic…I agree with D 100%!!!

I didn’t see the first Hulk movie, but I have to say that I think Liv Tyler was the worst thing about the most recent one. “Gooey and doe-eyed” sounds like a perfect description of how she played the role — I think it’s more a reflection of her acting than the reviewer being a man…
Also, I usually don’t mind her, but everytime she said “Oh, Bruce,” I disliked her a little more. I didn’t buy her as a scientist for a second.

Oh my God, is this EVEN a debatable question? Liv Tyler is a lovely lady and an acceptable actress, but come on, who you kidding? Jennifer Connelly is and has been the hottest thing in Hollywood since Rocketeer. Have you seen Mulholland Falls or Inventing the Abbotts?
Normally, I’m a leg man, but her…um…assets in those movies, well-documented, have stuck in my craw since the day I first viewed them, slack-jawed.

Let’s all be honest here. Both Liv Tyler and Jennifer Connelly are smokin’ hot! Both are good actresses but Jennifer’s been in higher profile award winning movies. I agree that Jennifer’s roles in “Inventing The Abbotts”, “Mulholland Falls”, “The Hot Spot” and “Requiem For A Dream” really grabbed my attention!

I liked Liv Tyler best in the Aerosmith videos. Saw her in the “Lord of the Rings” — maybe it was just the role, but what a wooden, soppy, performance. I saw her last week being interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel. She was so giggly and giddy that the interview was incomprehensible. She couldn’t stop laughing. It was embarrassing. Jennifer Connelly makes me laugh, because the first movie I remember her from was “Rocketeer,” the film in which the Disney corporation finally discovered the women have breasts. Connelly was good in “Dark City.” Guess I prefer her, though I haven’t seen the 2nd “Hulk.”

Jennifer Connelly is a classic beauty that will defy time. She is an intelligent lady that brings so much to each and every performance. There is no way that any actress could challenge her for a role. Certainly not Liv Tyler. I will miss the remake as I saw the true movie adaptation already. Love you Jen!

Okay…..first of all Jennifer Connelly IS an academy award winner for her role in A Beautiful Mind! What has Liv been nominated for??? I found Jennifer Connelly’s Betty believable in HULK. I found Liv Tyler’s Betty laughable in Incredible Hulk. She was not convincing as a scientist AT ALL.
I agree both women are gorgeous but, in my opinion Jennifer’s beauty is Classic and Timeless. It will never go out ot style.
