Dakota Fanning rape film expected in September
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Do you remember that indie drama “Hounddog” that played at Sundance last year? The film in which the character played by little Dakota Fanning is raped?
“Hounddog” now has a distribution deal with Empire Film Group and is expected to arrive in theaters starting in September.
Filmed in North Carolina, “Hounddog” stars Fanning, formerly from Conyers, as an Elvis Presley fan who is sexually assaulted. The assault is implied and not shown in detail. Fanning was 12 during the time the movie was filmed.
In an earlier press release, Empire stated the company expects that the film will receive a PG-13 rating.
The group RAINN (Rape and Incest National Network) has issued a statement in support of the film.
Are you interested in seeing “Hounddog”?

Yes I would love to see the movie. I think Dakota Fanning is a wonderful and gifted actor. I have enjoyed everything she had made. I can’t believe that Hounddog has gotten bad press its just a movie role. Im glad that it is being released.

No f*ing way. People who produce movies such as this one (The Woodsman, Mysterious Skin, etc) think they are being responsible and proactive in depicting the unspeakable horror associated with pedophilia. As if by seeing it depicted on screen will somehow help us stop it from taking place. “Look how bad this is”. Who actually rents these movies? Probably the same psychophants depicted in them, who are then aroused and buoyed by them.

Yes, I’m interested in seeing any film Dakota Fanning decides to act in. Oh, and the rapist is a boy, not an adult.

Not interested - but it has nothing to do with the rape scene. I’ve just heard it sucks.
