You have at least 1,772 chances to see ‘Dark Knight’ this weekend
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
You want to see “The Dark Knight” on IMAX with six sequences filmed in the big-big-big screen format?
Well, if you don’t already have a ticket you must have patience. Your first opportunity is at 12:20 p.m. Monday.
All 20 screenings of the Batman movie on IMAX this weekend at the Buford Mall of Georgia are sold out. Even the 6 a.m. show set for early Friday.
But on regular 35mm, “Dark Knight” will be plentiful everywhere. From late tonight through Sunday, the film will screen at least 1,772 times at some 40 metro Atlanta theaters.
As expected, several theaters added additional screenings late tonight and through the weekend.
Regal Atlantic Station, for example, has nine screenings from 12:01 a.m. late tonight through 3:15 a.m. Friday. The first five screenings are sold out.
In the time it took me to type what you’ve read so far, the number of sold out screenings late tonight on 35mm doubled from five to 10 in metro Atlanta.
The North American box office is expected to be big. Some believe it might top $100 million this weekend.
Do you already have tickets? Will you go this weekend or wait to see the movie?

My boyfriend (huge Batman fan) and I (Heath Ledger fan) have tickets to for a Sunday IMAX showing. We’re really pushing it time-wise, as soon as the show is over, I have to take him straight to the airport. But we didn’t want to miss out on this.

Despite what lem-tards think, this movie is not an “event.” It will be playing, over & over, for weeks & weeks. Anyone who would go see a movie at 6 a.m. is why they coined the term “drooling fanboy.”

Bite me Shatner. Be it paying through the nose to see your favorite sports team kick their arch rivals butts in a championship game or seeing your favorite comic book character kick an arch enemy’s butt in a movie—everyone gets excited about SOMETHING.
Why do you feel like you have to rain on the parade and make fun of someone excited about a movie? Or maybe you’re just a washed-up, has-been, former bully kicking the butts of smart/creative kids with glasses in elementary school. But we’re all grown ups here, and now you’re just some loser jerk spouting on a newspaper blog. Yea, you’ve got a lot to be proud of (that’s sarcasm there, in case you didn’t catch it scumbag).

Went and saw it last night at midnight. I’m paying for it a little today at work but I had fun and it was a good movie. 1.The good-action, gadgets, Joker, good lines, two face being developed 2.the bad-little long, batman’s voice. I didn’t see it on IMAX but the regular big screen is good for me. Keepin it going with the Braves tonight. Sleeping is for Sundays

We went to see the 1201 at the Regal 24 off of I-85 last night. About halfway through the movie, the sound glitched. Next thing I knew, the Joker was in custody and we had skipped a 45 minute segment of the movie. Long story short, the movie was cutoff and patrons given a re-admission pass for two, Nice work movie theater ass-hats, is it really that difficult to play a movie?!

My best friend and I was looking forward to going to Batman opening weekend; however, my cousin came to town with her kids so I will be left viewing Horton Hears a Who at the dollar theater. We are definitely going to see Batman next weekend.

I have gotten to where I go to very few movies in the theater and just watch them in the home theater. No annoying or rude people to distract you from the film, you can pause, backup, etc at will, and you can have a snack without mortgaging your home. That all being said…The Dark Knight is one of the few movies I want to go to the theater to see. I normally am not a fan of comic book movies, but Batman Begins was absolutely fantastic and a lot more “believable” than the Tim Burton Batman series. The Dark Knight looks to continue this. Of course, I am with the guy who said wait a week and let the crowds thin. Unlike going to a sports game, this is not a one time showing. It will be in the theaters until September I would imagine. (But if you want to go brave the crowds this weekend, all the power too you…I have done it for some movies in the past.)
