Joe Jonas of the ubiquitous Jonas Brothers got a special treat during the group’s Atlanta concert this week. He graduated from high school! With a cap, a gown and a tribute from his tutor.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Watch and enjoy.

Someone with the handle of “Flava” is accusing the JoBros of being talentless — that’s funny!

I’m a mom of teens who love the Jonas Brothers and I’m so happy that they choose to listen to music by a band that exhibits good family values, morals, and who celebrate doing well in school and putting a priority on education. You know no one forces you to click on read about people you don’t like!

Um…what does this have to do with movies, exactly? And don’t say “Camp Rock.” The boy is a musician.

The negativity I see in these comments sections never ceases to amaze me. Does it really impact your world so horribly that there are groups like this that are adored by youngsters and parents alike? If so, it’s too bad that you who complain obviously have it so easy that you have nothing more valuable to do with your time and energy.

These guys are clean cut, clean living, and excellent role models. It’s refreshing not to have to read about some thug rapper getting shot or busted for selling drugs on a street corner. Keep up the good work!

The AJC is linking a YouTube video of the Jonas Brothers. Are you ——ing joking me!? Is this the AJC or Teen Beat? And you guys are wondering why the AJC is losing money and having to cut staff. Back in my day, we actually reported the news.

By ttown one

Jonassss brothers are a pitiful excuse for a karaoke band gone terribly drunk and whining while getting beaten with a wire rope.

Word is out on the streets that you can get a free 5-pack of Bubblicious with your first CD. I can’t wait for their follow-up album : “Sucks like a Hoover”

Well the AJC is losing money because just like many other periodicals, print versions are just not selling. So many people are looking at the websites. So there you go Henry. How long ago was back in the day?

Nick, give me an example of the last time you heard of a rapper getting busted for dealing drugs on a street corner. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

I’ve had no time to pick up any new music or bands, but what little I hear seems in indicate this is a bright group with great values and is a great imspiration to teens. Now that news of education and graduation are hitting the news, maybe more atlanta teens will follow their example and become more involved in their studies, education, life in general and will stop the irresponsible, destructive behavior that causes them to have low self esteem, test scores, turn to alcohol & drugs, and drop out of school. GOOD for him!!! There should be more like him. If your kids look up to him, and that is what he does with his life and by doing so he inpires others to succeed and graduate also, then GREAT! All other haters SHUT UP! You have no business talking. Clean house first before you speak! I not only graduated high school with high marks I am in my final semester of my second college degree.

Good for him! Everyone on this list that has something negative to say is absolutely unreal. This is newsworthy in that the AJC does have entertainment reports and this is one of the better stories I have seen under that section in a long time. I really do not know much about the band but it is a good thing to hear young kids excited about someone else graduating. As far as the “talentless” comment…from what I heard on the radio that was one of the toughest tickets to get this year. You always hear about talentless groups selling out a 15,000 person venue. You obviously are a talent scout.

People amaze me…..nothing will be said about reporting on the latest young celebrity being arrested etc but let something positive be reported and people are nothing but negative. My teenage girls were talking in the car this morning about him graduating and actually made a comment “see Mom, not all teenage celebrities are problems”. These guys are awesome role models.

I’d much rather my kids listen to this typr mucic than music by rappers that are constantly in the news for their thug behavior, drugs and ILLEGAL guns all the time. The latest is the female hoodrat DaBrat (nice ghetto name, that’ll get you a bus pass on MARTA for life, a name like that will)who was just sentenced to three years in prison for an altercation with a waitress. Then we have T.I. and his guns and a list of others. I’ll take the Jonas Brothers anyday, chances are they’ll never go to prison. You can’t say the same about any rapper.

As a father of a 6 year old girl I’m happy she listens to someone like these guys and not the other stuff I hear on the radio. Plus they must be someone talented to be in movies and have CDs that sell to put them on the top of the charts.

By JD

August 22, 2008 12:32 PM | Link to this

I agree with you Red. I guess everyone thinks Da Brat is a good role model. I have to admit that I don’t think they are the best singers in the world. They seem to whine at the end of every note. However, they are very nice, wholesome, good young men. Get real people! They are not trying to appeal to the adult crowd! They are harmless for the teens and tweens that love their music, and they are better examples than many singers/rappers out there today.

The funny irony about the DeBrat thug is that she was fighting because she wasn’t allowed in the clubs VIP section. That’s a hoot. Who in their right mind would consider this little thug street trash a VIP???

For all the negative comments…if you don’t like what you see then just leave!!!!!! The Jonas Brothers are a VERY talented group that unlike a LOT of other groups are NOT into drugs & alcohol, NOT into guns & violence, NOT into the use of profanity and probably the most important in this day and age, NOT into premarital sex! What more could a parent ask for as far as a positive role model goes??? The negative comments are just coming from the ones that have WAY too much time and energy because they don’t have a life…my suggestion—GO GET ONE!!! Congrats Joe!!!

These boys are wonderful! My 11 year old niece loves these boys and I am proud to say that! She was actually at their concert. Wonderful role models. As for someone asking for the name of a rapper selling drugs on the street corner…..how about a rapper buying illegal guns on a street corner or wait….. DMX recently arrested on drug charges (several times I think) T.I. was arrested for attempting to purchase (very lethal) illegal guns, lil wayne was arrested this year, yung berg, flavor flav, gucci mane,Juvenille, sean paul, warren g, should I keep going?? This is 2008 (drug) arrests only! I guess children could listen to someone like Amy Winehouse!?!?!? What do your children listening to should be my next question!

@ProHater

“Nick, give me an example of the last time you heard of a rapper getting busted for dealing drugs on a street corner. Go ahead, I’ll wait.”

I’ll grant you that one. No actual street-corner busts. They’re too cool and classy for that.

For some actual evidence of rappers who get into lots of legal trouble, look up: Foxy Brown (many instances), Game, T.I., Lil Wayne, Beanie Sigel, Busta Rhymes, DMX (possibly the dumbest rapper alive?)…I’m sure I could name more, all it took was googling “rapper legal trouble”. No shortage of links.

By Chief Wiggum

August 22, 2008 4:11 PM | Link to this

Oops, add Da Brat (correct spelling? LOL) to my list of rappers who keep getting into legal trouble.

So, Pro Hater, what exactly was your point? The poster you responded to may have been wrong about what TYPE of legal trouble rappers get into, but he wasn’t wrong about the AMOUNT of legal trouble they seem to get into. And seriously…they wear it like a badge of honor. Poor Akon, he needed to fake some of his to get his reputation.

By Pro Hater

August 22, 2008 4:20 PM | Link to this

Hey, ChiefWiggum, I am not dumb, I know that rappers get into trouble, but not for street level drug dealing. That was my point. So you copied my post, but didn’t read it? Yeah, I am sick of rapper getting in trouble. I was just saying, rappers are making stupid decisions, but they have enough not to be a street level dealer.

By Pro Hater

August 22, 2008 4:24 PM | Link to this

I am just one of those people that is a stickler for getting your facts straight before you start speaking on it. Also, how in the hell did rap get pulled in this conversation anyway?

By dianneph

August 22, 2008 4:47 PM | Link to this

To sedimenjerry, that’s really pitiful. I feel sorry for you and any other of you who adopt the glass-half-empty mentality of life. I’m sure you are just wired that way and that’s sad, but I have hope…maybe something that truly is earth-shattering will happen to you one day to help you get over yourself enough that you won’t be so victimized by other’s pleasure, joy and happiness.

By dianneph

August 22, 2008 4:59 PM | Link to this

To WOW… what’s so confusing? Cute is in the eye of the beholder. Just because you don’t see the attraction or feel the same does not make you right and those who do enjoy The Jonas Brothers wrong. Grow up people, it’s a big world out there, and there’s room for everyone to have their own tastes and interest withouth having to match yours. No one forces you to listen to their music, read about them, or care about them. So why does it matter to you if they are well liked by millions of other people?

@ Henry Grady’s Ghost and others:

It’s a shame that this newfangled internet and these mysterious “blogs” disconcert you so. In fact, reporting on actual news (which the AJC still does, by the way) and blogging about less consequential goings on in the worlds of entertainment, sports, music, etc are not mutually exclusive. Even the venerable Wall Street Journal has stories about - GASP! - celebrities, social fads and phenomena, and other leisure topics. Perhaps you deride and despise it as well?
