Marla Maples bringing post-Trump lessons to reality TV
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Dalton native Marla Maples, best known as Donald Trump’s ex-wife, has decided to give reality TV a whirl with “The Ex-Wives Club,” a show about helping divorcĂ©es put their lives back together.

The show name is a bit of a misnomer. Of the three experts, Shar Jackson (Kevin Federline’s ex) has never been married and Angie Everhart was married just four months to Ashley Hamilton (and briefly engaged to Sly Stallone.)
That makes Maples, who was married for six years to Trump, the true expert, relatively speaking. In the sample show Buzz viewed, Maples looks fabulous and comes across as nurturing and caring.
“You have to share what you’ve learned,” said Maples, who is single. “I’m in a happy place in my life. People always say I have a smile on my face. For a long time, I was hiding the pain. Now, it’s a more authentic smile.”
In the shadow of the Donald, Maples said, “it was a constant job to hold on to who I was.” Daughter Tiffany and a teacher in Israel, she said, helped her move beyond the marriage itself.
A decade after leaving Trump (who the New York Post once quoted her as saying gave her the “best sex I’ve ever had”) Maples said she gets along fine with the real estate mogul and has even been to “The Apprentice” set a few times.
However, she didn’t think the show worked as well when it moved to Los Angeles this past season. “He represents New York,” she said. (NBC didn’t put Trump’s show on the fall schedule, and its future is in doubt.)
Whether “Ex-Wives Club” propels Maples to bigger and better things is hardly a guarantee. ABC is debuting the show tonight on a holiday when many people are out of the house. And Maples said the five episodes were taped a year ago, meaning ABC sat on the show until now.

Marla Maples

“Grey’s Anatomy” — “We [she and her daughter Tiffany] were frustrated by the finale.”

ESPN LURES LOCAL SPORTS TALKERS

The 2 Live Stews’ rabid fan base, known as “doggs” and “poodles,” can bark up a storm over this news: Ryan and Doug Stewart, heard locally on 790/The Zone and syndicated in 20 markets, are returning to ESPN2 starting June 4 as guest commentators for the daily talk show “First Look.”
They’ll appear Mondays and Tuesdays for the next 20 weeks from 10 a.m. to noon. (The pair’s radio show was simulcast on ESPN2 briefly in 2005.)
Ryan told Buzz they will fly up every week to Bristol, Conn., home of ESPN, to do “First Look.”
For them, the chance to appear on ESPN is a way to “brand our name and give us some incredible recognition.”
DAVE MATTHEWS BAND TO PLAY PARK
The Piedmont Park Conservancy has snared the Dave Matthews Band, one of the world’s most popular touring acts, for a benefit concert at the park on Sept. 8.
Michael W. Tyler, a vice chairman of the conservancy board, confirmed the headliner Sunday.
Live Nation, the nation’s biggest concert promoter, scheduled a news conference at the Meadow part of the park Wednesday to announce details about the concert, such as prices and when tickets go on sale.
LINDSAY LOHAN CHARGED IN DUI
Lindsay Lohan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday after her convertible struck a curb on Sunset Boulevard, and investigators found “a usable amount” of what they believe is cocaine at the scene, Beverly Hills, Calif., police said.
Lohan, 20, and two other people were in her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 when it crashed around 5:30 a.m., Sgt. Mike Foxen said. It appeared the actress was speeding, Lt. Mitch McCann said at an news conference.
Lohan, who spent time at a rehabilitation center this year, was driven in another car to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, McCann said. The two other people in her car were not hurt.
Officers arrested Lohan at the hospital for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, McCann said. He said the case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office where Lohan could face more charges, including felonies.
