Overscene: NYC post-Tonys edition
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
At a post Tonys celebration Sunday night/Monday morning, a couple of notable Tony winners were finally introduced. Yes, Alliance Theatre artistic director Susan Booth finally got to meet her celebrity crush, “Glengarry Glen Ross” Tony winner Liev Schreiber.

Buzz readers will recall that prior to collecting the Alliance’s Tony Award Sunday night, she playfully told us: “I will knock down anyone who stands between me and Liev Schreiber! He is just the most beautiful man in the world.” Thankfully, for Booth’s co-minglers, no one was standing between her and Schreiber at the time of the meeting (somehow, the actor had been told — warned? — that Booth might be interested in meeting him). We’re told that Schreiber happily posed with Booth for a photo keepsake.
Booth and other Atlantans, including Alliance managing director Thomas Pechar, associate artistic director Kent Gash, associate producer Jody Feldman and husband Michael danced into the wee hours at Rockefeller Center. Michael Feldman later found Tonys presenter and “Scrubs” star Zach Braff and mentioned that his wife is a big fan. We’re told that Braff then proceeded to walk around the soiree “calling out Jody’s name until he found her.” The pair also had a photo taken together.
WHILE IT’S STILL OPEN
Michele Rhea Caplinger, the senior executive director of the Recording Academy’s Atlanta chapter, celebrated her 50th birthday Sunday night at Tongue & Groove, the nightpot whose owners announced this week they will be closing the week of July 4. In addition to Caplinger’s husband Blair, daughter Sarah and mother Jessie Rae were guests that included: 99X’s Leslie Fram; guitarist Johnny Colt; hair salon owner/vintage video game head-butt artist Richie Arpino; Michaeline Roland; the wife of Collective Soul rocker Ed Roland; publicist Liz Lapidus; PennHouse Productions’ Suzanne Shaw; and vocal coach Jan Smith. We’re told that the Metalsome Monday karaoke band, on loan from 10 High in Virginia-Highland, provided the entertainment. Of the more memorable duets with the birthday Grammy girl: a cover of the Kink’s “You Really Got Me,” performed by 12-year-old Morgan Krohngold (who, apparently, has an in with the owners).
PARIS REPORT
Objectivity be dashed. While Barbara Walters was busy chatting up her bestest gal pal Kathy Hilton on Sunday, Paris was calling her mother collect from jail. Moments later, Paris called Walters collect to chat about life in the big house after a judge ordered her back there Friday. According to Walters, Hilton told her: “I was not eating or sleeping. I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage. It was a horrible experience. I used to act dumb. That act is no longer cute.” Perhaps not, but it’s sure to boost ratings of a daytime talk show after its brash, headlines-grabbing lesbian co-host has left the building.
