7/25: Crash attacks me

Wow. I must have hit a sensitve note with Crash Clark. The former 99xer was hired by WBCN-FM to be with Fred Toucher and Rich Shertenlieb in Boston. They started streaming this week. So I picked up the stream and heard Crash talking about financial problems he’s had, that his house in Atlanta is in foreclosure, that he’s a month away from filing bankruptcy protection. 99xwatch.org has an audio clip

Crash is also about to turn 40 and ready to party :”I want to booze it up. I want a lot of people to show up and people pay attention to me. I want to be like Caesar.” Typical goofy Crash stuff there.
Addendum: How about this for bizarre? Apparently, Crash found out seconds after I posted this and went on an angry rant. I haven’t heard the rant but as one of the commentators below noted, he was pretty peeved. Crash —- so were you joking? Was this just a bit? It sounded serious to me.
Addendum #2: At 6:45 p.m., a couple hours after I posted the original item here, Crash called me and reamed me for three minutes, using every curse word in the book. I tried to lighten things up but he said, ” You think this is a joke? This isn’t a joke.” He said this was just a bit to gain sympathy to the Boston listeners.
Anyway, here’s some of what he said to me: “It’s {bleepin’ bleep]. Nobody gives a [bleep] about us anymore in Atlanta. Why are you writing about us, listening to us? I was always good to you. I gave you quotes. This was just funny [expletive] on the god[expletive] air making fun of me having a hard time. This is low ball [expletive.] Why not write about our show taking off. Everybody’s being good to us. You gotta take the first negative [expletive] to make you look good. It’s just schtick, getting sympathy for my birthday. Let me and our [expletive] show go. Don’t say another [expletive] thing about me.” Then he hung up. My attempts to calm him down or placate him went nowhere. Oh, well.
This is a man who has freely talked on the air for years about his drinking, his women, his herpes, his sex life. And somehow, referencing money turns him into an angry, angry man. And it was something he said on the air with what I thought was complete sincerity. If it was truly just for show and not true at all, I’m sorry I reported it as fact. I have indeed always had a good relationship with Crash. I always liked him. Sure sounds like he doesn’t like me anymore.
Jim over at www.99xwatch.org posted what he heard Crash say about me over the stream though Jim’s not sure how much made it onto air in Boston:
“Rodney Ho, you’re an [expletive]… First of all my house is not going to be foreclosed on. Second of all, I’m not going to file bankruptcy. Third of all, Rodney, they take more taxes out of my pay check than you will ever earn, so take that you piece of crap.”

Wow… Rodney, I don’t know why or how you’re atttracting so many hateful readers these days, but I just wanted to send a note of encouragement. I read your blog every day and enjoy it. Why some jerks are personally attacking you is beyond me.

Hmm…”That is no joke…that is no joke”…I’m thinking Crash was being truthful when he said he was going bankrupt and then he got upset when Rodney reported it. Crash lived beyond his means (2 mortgages??) and the ponzi scheme of his life collapsed when the first or second paycheck didn’t come in. I’m quite sure he had cable tv and high speed internet and a car note as well…on top of the nightlife and the boozing. When people like him don’t pay their bills and go bankrupt it makes houses and credit cards and utility bills more expensive for the rest of us. I hope the creditors hound him to the end of his days.

Ok, Crash/Fred fans - if he didn’t want it mentioned, he shouldn’t have played it on the air. More than likely, Crash’s outrage is also fake, just another way to get more listeners by stirring up some controversy.
In any case, Rodney did nothing wrong by passing along on-air information, and all of you posters who are attacking him are just effing idiots

Let me get this straight. 1) Toucher talks about his supposed personal issues on air and he has a hissy fit because it’s reported here in Atlanta? 2) He claims it’s to raise sympathy. (I guess he can’t rely on talent and has to go the drama-queen route.) 3) Then Toucher denies it? (not too hard to pull up information on foreclosures…)
Sounds like someone is having some problems that go far beyond financial ones. If Rodney had reported Toucher’s house in Atlanta was going into foreclosure when it hadn’t been brought up on-air, that would definitely deserve a lashing. But he opened up this can of worms by discussing his life on-air.
*And I’d like to add that I’ve never heard Toucher on-air but I have spent quite a bit of time as an on-air ‘personality’.

I struggling to understand why people are p** at Rodney for this. a) While it’s an Atlanta radio blog, Crash is still one of the best know Atl. radio personalities of the last decade and b) he reported on something that was said publicly on the radio!!! If Crash is angry and embarrassed he has nobody but himself to blame…as usual. And all the people on this thread hating on Rodney over this are obviously sychophants from Fred Toucher’s message board. It was a good post, Rodney.

It’s only by the Grace of God Crash is still in radio (such as it is)….let’s face it, Crash is a faux celebrity who’s only claim to fame is his act of degrading himself, sophmoric humor, and drunken debauchery….he’s no true radio personality and we’ll see how long that garbage he calls radio will last….and tell ‘em I said it, he can talk to me, I’ll tell ‘em personally!!!!

Hey Crash, you no-talent drunk-azz piece of monkey turd: Get over yourself already!! Better yet, go waste some more of your dwindling bank account on skanky strippers and booze. That’s what you do best isn’t it? Nobody cares about you in Atlanta except for 2 or 3 fanboys who are too stupid to know any better, and within 18 months nobody in Boston will care about you either.
And here’s one last piece of advice: Pamprin really helps for that “time of the month” crankiness which seems to have gotten the better of you.

There’s one way to figure out if Crash was telling the truth or just airing a lame stunt — bankruptcy filings and foreclosure notices are public record. So it would be very easy to monitor to local rags and federal court dockets to see if Crash does indeed file for bankruptcy or have his ATL house go into foreclosure. Furthermore, it’s all perfectly legal to access that kind of information. Anyone can get their hands on it. Perhaps Crash should have considered that before he talked about his finances on the air and decided to bash Rodney. Rodney, keep up the good work. You did nothing wrong.

Crash acts like this is the first article on their move to boston. As I recall, Rodney has been posting every success they have had up to this point. So, Crash going off on Rodney reporting what he says on radio is pretty stupid. But, its crash.

Let me get this straight Crash. You are a huge loser. An alcoholic, a sleaze bag, a high school dropout etc, who managed to parley your skills at being a loser into a decent radio career for a while by making your sordid loserly personal life public, freely spilling all the disgusting and pathetic sleazy details for everyone to here and know on the air. (When’s the last time you had anything to say on-air without it describing how you are such a low-life?)
Now, you are mad at a reporter for reporting on something you said about your loser status on air? You can talk about it but Rodney shouldn’t write about it? Only a total dumbass loser wouldn’t realize that when you say something on the air in point A, peole in point B are going to hear about it? It’s 2006 pal.
What cracks me up the most is when you said to Rodney “I gave you quotes.” So in the past you were feeding Rodney this great off-the-record fodder as a personal favor to him, and not to generate publicity for your loser self? What a palooka.
I wonder how many of these anti-Rodney posts were written by Toucher, who’s still mifffed cause he’s getting more copy in Atlanta now than he ever did when he was here?

It was really funny when Opie & Anthony made fun of them about how phoney they all were on the air. O&A are the morning show at their station which they didnt even realize till their guest was trashing them and they had joined in talking about how they hate hosts like that.
