6/6: Porsche Foxx returns to V-103

More than two years after getting fired from V-103 for a DUI incident, Porsche Foxx is returning to the radio station that made her a big star in the first place. She’ll be replacing Osei the Dark Secret on July 9. More info in this entry
Foxx, whose real name is Stephanie Calhoun, was a popular afternoon jock at V-103 for several years until late 2005. That’s when she was pulled over and accused of drunken driving and possession of marijuana.
She first denied to the AJC she had done anything wrong, saying “none of this is true.” V-103 suspended her, then let her go, hiring Ryan Cameron in her place. She changed her tune later. In state criminal court, the former V-103 afternoon jock agreed to a plea agreement in August 2006 which included 36 months probation, 240 hours of community service and alcohol rehab.
After Magic Man was let go in the fall of 2005, V-103, seeking a female voice, had asked Foxx to come back to take his place but she was still angry with the station for firing her in the first place. So V-103 hired Osei instead. Eighteen months later, she appears to have buried the hatchet.

I’m soooooooooo glad for my girl Porche. I truly believe that she has gotten the help that she needed, and will do a fantastic job. She will only “help” V-103. Porche…..stay true to you!!!!!!!!

This isn’t worth a lengthy comment. She was just an example of reaping what you sow. she talked horrible trash about a lot of people in a very judgemental way…Her sowing was that she was put in a position to be judged when this happened to her. Hopefully, she will be kinder to others going forward.

SO DAMN WHAT she got a DUI!!! How many of us would even have a job if our boss judge us on what we do the other 16 hours/day that we are not at work. She is a radio personailty not a judge, bishop or politician. I drive all the time after having 2 or 3 drinks. Although I am not drunk, I often wondered would I pass the breatherlizer test if I was ever stopped.
People who judge too quickly are usually the main ones with deep dark secrets.

QweenB, to answer your question……Of course I’ve been forgiven before and given second chances. But, this is a very different situation. Do you actually think to get into the kind of trouble that she got into and then to be let back on the radio is a good thing? If you do, and it seems most of you do, then that right there is the biggest exmple of what is wrong with our youth today, and it also gives example of why the crime rate is on the rise everywhere you look.
Black people! Come on. Is this the type of person we want posing as a role model to our youth or even to us?
It’s just like in D.C. where we voted Barry back into office after being caught on video smoking CRACK. Setup or not, why would we want someone like that representing us?
Why do we continue to support questionable behavior, and look down on a real role model like Bill Cosby?

We put too much enfaces on the wrong stuff. I actually like Porche Foxx. What she will be teaching others is: if you make a mistake in life, you can do what you need to do to correct and and pray for an opportunity to start over. She GOT that opportunity. I commend V-103 for making that decision. She did make a dangerous mistake that could have hurt others, but does life END?? People be realistic…you acknowledge your mistakes, correct and move forward. Now you haters need to do the same thing…. Who cares? I stopped listening to know it all Frank Ski, ignorant Wanda, and that troll of a gay person who was the reason I stopped listening. It just got ridiculus after awhile with that drag queen making that stupid rrrrrrrrr sound. plus too much damn talking(which is all 3 of the black stations..102. 104. 103 so i just flip to oldies 97.1 until my drive to Marta is over. Too much flap jacking on black radio. and long commericals. 1% of music. As for Ms Fox. Whatever! they must be doing pretty sorry to ask back that Judgemental Pot Hot Drunk. If you past judgement then you need to be held accoutable and punished just like the folks you trashed Ms Fox. but since she served her time. My problem with this is that she had the audacity to get mad for being fired. Let me get this straight: you’re a public figure, you regularly trash people and their “issues,” and you get caught driving drunk and with an illegal substance. But we’re all supposed to cheer that you got your job back. Porsche, I just thank God that you didn’t kill yourself or an innocent bystander by driving under the influence. But honestly, I would much rather hear you admit that you were wrong and show some humility. Osea was the best thing going. Wanda is loud and crude, Ms. Sophia is an abomination, and Frank spends WAY too much time blaming whitey for our problems. Ryan is funny and entertaining, but not enough for me to listen to V103. My radio is tuned to Q100 every morning, and I arrive to work laughing, singing and informed. So there.

what’s going to happen to Osei. He wasnt’ appealing to the eyes but I love his voice. I never did like Porsche. She was always slamming folks, and then when she got caught she had the nerve to have an attitude. I have my radio turned down during the 10-2 slot, now I will just turn it off.
Ryan is the man. I enjoy it when he has great topics. He and Ella have the great chemistry. They are funny, light hearted and positive.
Frank/Wanda, there ok. I will listen out of habit but can only take so much of them when Sophia comes on. All three of them together grates my nerves.

I was the victim of a DUI a little bit over three years ago. But, I’m not dead, or am I… (dan dun dahhhhh)
In all seriousness… It’s radio, not saving the world or curing Cancer. I’ll take Porche of Rush, Imus or Marv Albert any day. Life happens for a reason. Experiences like this teach you things and hopefully she has learned her lesson. Isn’t that the best outcome for everyone? For everyone talking about the kids… I would like kids to learn that as you get older you have the chance to become a better person because of your experiences, both good and bad.

God answers prayers and helps us grow in his own way at the time in which he sees fit. We have ALL said and done some inappropriate things (and if you haven’t been busted yet, rest assure that you will be.) Despite the circumstances TWO YEARS AGO, she is a wonderful person with a big heart, and yes, she does deserve another chance.

To “Whatajoke” … it teaches children forgiveness. We need to stop trying to make children believe that everyone and everything is perfect, and that it is OK to make a mistake. Damn.
Being a radio personality is Porsche’s job; she gets paid to do it. Most places of employment provide the necessary resources for people to seek help and get it when it’s needed. I think it says a great deal about the station to allow her to come back.

So,let me get this right… You can be arrested for DUI and possession, pay your debt to society (probation, rehab, and community service), but because of this you shouldn’t be able to make a living and be forgiven? This is crazy. If God was as unforgiving as atalian and some of the others criticizing right now, we’d all be in a sad state. If we were all held to the same standard that some of you are trying to hold PF to then very few of us deserve our jobs, houses, etc. I’m not a big V fan, but I say the woman has paid her debt, let her grow from it.

I think that the radio is a very powerful tool just like TV, now not saying that she should be in the same category as Imus but are we as a people contradicting ourselves…Do we really hate self-condemning our culture? This is something to think about, I’m sure the style of her show will change because she’s no longer in a position to judge anyone…so I look forward to this new show. I’m sure that alot of listeners will miss Osei and I would like to know where he is going as I am a FAN and will he still be at the Falcons game?

Congrats V-103 for FINALLY bringing back Porsche, everybody makes mistakes and it’s refreshing to see someone get another chance at redemption. Nothing against Osei but I don’t think he ever jelled with the audience from 10-2. I think V’s ratings probably dropped between 10-2 and they knew that so many people missed Porshe.

V103HATER, you need to release the hate. Why make it so personal, it sounds like to me that maybe you are a be would rejected fantasy lover.
Porsche spoke with conviction this morning and accepted her mistakes of the past which we all have to do. So I say move on this incident is in no shape or form related to the Imus thing, and I sure she is going to have to earn the trus of her sponsors and I for one can’t wait to reach out to her to work my organization.
She has to look at herself in the mirror every morning and I pretty sure that she is thankful for her storm in her life and know that it has made her a better person. Nothing against Osei,but he just didn’t fit.
Whatever your personal issues with her you need to deal with it press on. As for me and my house, we are going to listen to PORSCHE FOXX ROCK THA BOXXX.

Oh, here we go with the “holier than thou” b.s. that will come from a bunch of religious hypocrites. I doubt this is about really about the station trying to get Porsche back - it is all about ratings and Osei was a weak personality with a boring tone…when I think of him I think of that jungle music and the old school Coming to America scenes. I always believe in giving people a second chance. But when a person won’t even admit they are wrong , it means they will continue in this self destructive behavior. It’s a shame that PF is returning to the airwaves in the ATL. However, as we all know, ratings are the only issue to radio management.
Has PF ever apologized for her behavior? Has she asked her (apparently) numerous fans for their forgiveness for betraying their trust — “preaching” one thing on the air and then doing something else entirely in her private life?
What’s going to happen the next time? Believe me, there will be a next time. So, all of you PF fans, be prepared. She just doesn’t seem all that contrite to me,but we’ll see…
