7/12: Mara’s “Palm” arrival

Getting a drawing of your face on wall of the Palm restaurant in Buckhead is kind of like the Atlanta version of getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — except you don’t have to pay any money for the privilege.
Mara Davis, Dave FM mid-day host, got hers last night at a party and she was thrilled. “This is better than my bat mitzvah!” she joked, grinning ear to ear. She signed her drawing with the words “Extra Cheese Please!” referencing her daily “cheese” during her all-request, thematic lunch hours. (At 12:25 p.m. every day, she’ll play a song that doesn’t fit Dave’s format and she’ll often sing along, too, in cheese-like fashion.)
Oddly, the team of Chicago illustrators who do all the Palm headshots made Mara look blonde, when in fact, her hair is very dark. Apparently, the photo they used made her hair look a lot lighter than in reality. Has Mara ever actually had blonde hair? “No way!” she said. “Never!”

of all the upscale steak places in atlanta. the palm is the worst. worst service, worst food, etc. .
the manager is at the beckon of the zone owners. the palm is as relevant in atlanta as the swiss hotel. their rating the same as 790, .09

Yep, this is what I thought.Mara Davis is a lard ass. Hidden behid a microphone pretending to be a sexy dj. Far from it.You should have kept it like Beth Keppel from 96 rock. Keep people guessing and wondering what you looked like.

ok-how many of you look like Rachel Hunter, Nicole Bass or Tony Atlas? thought so-so keep it in your pants you Atlanta fat asses! Most of you couldn’t afford the food there. Mara does a good job behind the mike considering the rest of atlanta is infested with black rap crap called hip hop music! And their DJ’s are the most racist of all. I wish they would go back to their ancestor’s country and see what life is like there. So the woman is over weight? Big Deal. try keeping slim on HER schedule. Woman is always on the go-the life of a DJ-married to the Radio station-kinda like Baseball. Give her a break!

You guys are CRAZZZZY!Mara Davis is the best radio personality in ATL. She is extremely entertaining and is a breath of fresh air. I have been listening faithfully for many years and she totally deserves the portrait. Even if the caricature doesn’t do her justice. Way to go Mara, you’re the best. Allise.

as a friend and former co-worker to those of you stooping low enough to aim daggers at this lady it’s rooted in the cynical-negative-nasty atmopshere which dominate these blogs. when i met mara, she was hosting out to lunch at the waffle house. she came from boston, started at night and worked her way to middays becoming a very successful, well known personality who’s generated a ton of money for her company. she even gave it up and teamed with jeffrey dunham to do mornings for awhile in order to rescue the station from the debacle formerly known as moby. she’s taken tons of listeners on trips via airtran, is never to busy to talk to her listeners and worked hard for EVERYTHING she earned. she met and married and great person, they have a wonderful life and nobody desevres it more than this woman who’s worked thru countless format changes, about 20 different bosses and who knows what else. look deep inside yourself before you commment on her weight, how she looks, etc. etc. etc..she gets paid to ‘host’ a radio program, has done a damn good job, stayed on top of the midday ratings without much fanfare and made a life for herself and her family in a very competitive market. so go now, and think of something nice to say about yourself..you’ll feel better being positive rather than spewing more toxic waste….congrats, MARA, you’re a gem….
