Project Runway: Details, details
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The high: Somehow we just knew that Posh Spice and Christian Siriano were simpatico.
The low: We missed Christian’s feathered pants, which didn’t make the cut from last week.

In this season of platforms and voting, our support was behind Jillian, who took the most chances in Wednesday’s finale with quirky hats and knits. But it was Christian who earned the title of “Project Runway” winner, with his stovepipe pants and dramatic sleeves. On the other hand, Rami’s collection didn’t offer any oomph, though it was safe and would probably appeal to many consumers. We thought he should have been auf’d first.
Here are a few thoughts on the final collections, in order of presentation:
Jillian — Pros: Offered exquisite details; created a collection that straddled high-fashion and easily marketable/wearable looks. Cons: Not enough transition between the “equestrian” looks and the cocktail dresses.
Rami — Pros: Presented solid collection with some clever touches, usually on the bodice. Cons: Displayed designs that often seemed too safe; evening gowns and daywear separates seemed to come from different collections; colors seemed randomly chosen.
Christian — Pros: Started with a strong, innovative look and used flawless silhouettes; maintained his “point of view”; experimented with feathers. Cons: Overdid the black; designed for the model, as Rami said, rather than the customer.
The last word: Did anyone vote in Bravo TV’s “Sew Not Over” online fashion challenge? Twelve of the Season 4 designers (missing: Sweet P, Simone and Victorya) put together collections of three looks apiece, and viewers vote through Thursday on the best. (The winner receives a $10,000 prize.) Click here to watch the 15-minute video, or watch individual collections at the Bravo TV Web site.

I loved Christian collection….I am so glad that he won. He really is FIERCE!!!

I was happy for Christian because his collection was the most daring even if his black celebration got old fast. I would’ve been happy with either his or Jillian’s, which showed surprising range but still felt a bit safe. How Rami beat her is a mystery; he designs nicely and sews brilliantly, but is that fashion-forward? They’ve ALWAYS loved Rami, so that was a teacher’s pet consolation prize. But as someone who wasn’t impressed with this bunch by midseason, I confess these three collections probably were the best of the PR bunch. Will miss the show and the blog … till next season.

I actually loved all 3 collections. I do think Jillian’s was the best but the outcome was predictable. I actually thought Rami might win which would have been a travesty. Judge’s pet is right. Because I wanted Chris to go to Bryant Park, so innovative. Christian is definitely Fierce!! He was surprisingly nervous but was right back after being named the winner! Can’t wait till next season!!

Christian won based on his performance throughout the entire season. Based on just the finale alone, he would not have won.

The way the judges were talking, I thought it was going to be Rami. I’m glad they picked Christian though…the way he was blubbering there I thought he was going to have a melt down if he didn’t win.

Jillian’s collection was innovative yet could actually be worn in public by real women. Christian’s collection, while very daring, could only be worn on the runway by a model (or Victoria Beckham/Paris Hilton coming out of rehab). I guess if you value flash over substance, then Christian should have won.

I didn’t want Christian to win simply because he wasn’t a very nice person throughout the show. It seems as though the jerks always win (see last season’s winner, Jeffrey). And if anyone could single handedly make the word “fierce” anything but, Christian managed to do it. Now every time i hear that word i want to scream. Rami’s colors were off-putting as the judge’s said. If he had picked some better colors, his collection would have been the one to beat. Jillian’s stuff was almost too casual, but, I liked it for the most part. Christian’s clothes were cartoonish. A normal person couldn’t wear any of that stuff anywhere.

What the attachment to neutrals?
Is Christian allergic to color? Black, black, black, black, black, beige, black. Flair without any color is flair, but it’s bland flair at best.
Ditto Rod
And I have never been the biggest Rami fan, but at least he used color.
As usual, me and mine picked our favorite from the finale and no one felt any passion for Christian’s line. It was good, but again, too much black
If the fashion careers of winners, runners up and those oft towards the end, the best thing that could have happened to Rami & Jillian was to not win. That is unless they want to be D list celebs trotted out for Project Runway 5 or the later Hard Rock Cafe opening.

I love, love, loved the finale. What an innovative little minx Jillian turned out to be!
I think you guys are being hard on Rami. He has a consistent and very stylish point of view. One note wonder, no, he’s more like Donatella or Valentino. He sticks with what he knows — and he doesn’t know plain.
As for Christian, he won me over last night when he said he wanted dark models. To be young, talented and able to appreciate diversity means that he could very well change the industry in a positive way. His pieces were the only ones that I wanted to own, regardless of the price.
And, let’s be honest, none of these designers was thinking beyond stick-thin models.
We’ll miss you Faith! We’ll miss you Tim! Until next season, carry on!

I’m OK with Christian’s win. He is very talented. I feel Jillian should have won, or at least have been 2nd, as her line was my favorite of the three. I would buy and wear her design(s). Rami’s line was brillantly detailed but “old” looking and I’m not sure that was due to color choices. He just did not excite me at all.

This is not a show for “the most wearable”. There have been other years when the winners clothes have been wearable but Jillian’s overall was just too boring. Rami’s was nice except some choices of color. His final 2 dresses were incredible. But overall Christian’s clothes were amazing, a true collection and deserving of the win. Plus I feel Christian was really just playing up the “bad boy” act. He is funny and really seemed touched by the win. Plus he is only 21 years old! Also, in reality, the final 5 actually showed at Bryant Park so that there would be no accidental leaks as to who the final 3 were. So you can see all the 5 collections on the Project Runway web site.

Hey there PR fans …. just heard a rumor from a colleague in my office that one of Tim Gunn’s next stops on his Liz Claiborne tour will be none other than Perimeter Mall! Faith, any truth to this info, and if so, can you share the details?

This is my first season of watching Project Runway and I must say I was disappointed. Being a teenager during the 80’s I can honestly say that I don’t see how anyone can say Christian’s designs are innovative - he is clearly retro as most of his designs are very 80’s - especially the jackets (Michael Jackson eat your heart out). Very disappointed in how the judges always fawned over him…..

This was my first season to watch and will most likely be my last. Based on the tiny little space Christian had to work in he probably needed the win the most, but I didn’t think he deserved based on the finale. My pick would have been a reverse order to how it ended up.

Hey all – as you may know, Tim Gunn “moonlights” as Chief Creative Officer of Liz Claiborne Inc. On March 12 at 6 p.m., as another commenter posted, he’ll “demonstrate how to build a versatile wardrobe with a couple key pieces” at the Perimeter Mall Macy’s. Here’s some info from the Macy’s press release: Prizes, refreshments and access to style advisers will be part of the evening. And if you make a purchase of $100 or more, you can take home a photo of you and Tim Gunn. The event is free and open to the public, and yes, you should reserve a seat by calling 770-913-5639. You all have been a great group. Thanks so much for your insightful and witty comments in Season 4. Have a fashionable day! FD

I agree with Drano…two days of blathering about a second-rate reality show?
It’s official. Rodney is a HO-mo (not that there’s anything wrong with that!)

23 comments. Does that answer the question of, “Who cares?” Plenty, apparently. Amazing how negative people can be about other people talking about a TV show for fun. Weird.

Since first watching Project Runway the beginning of last year, I have become totally hooked on the show. It ranks up there with “Clean House” another of my favorites. I figured Christian would win - he seemed to be the most diversified & talented. Rami offered too much of the same even though he was quite good. Jillian surfaced with the most wearable, however, in my opinion. At any rate, looking forward very much to next season.
